(5/5) El Viejon…read moreSeafood is a hidden gem and one of my favorite seafood spots in San Diego. The restaurant has a great vibe, an excellent seafood selection, and delivers big flavors. The seating area is small and parking can be challenging, but the food more than makes up for it. The fish tacos were outstanding--some of the best I've had in San Diego. Both the smoked fish taco and the beer-battered fish taco were incredible and packed with flavor. The seafood tower was also amazing, fresh, and beautifully put together. The only item that missed the mark for me was the al pastor taco, which was a little too sweet for my taste. Everything else was excellent. If you're looking for quality seafood, amazing fish tacos, and a casual spot with great energy, El Viejon Seafood is definitely worth a visit. Service was nice and fast. Good tasting salsa selections

We also got a half dozen oysters and shrimp ceviche, and you could tell everything was really fresh with that satisfying "seafood crunch" in every bite. It's a small place, so seating inside is pretty limited, and the music was a little too loud for my taste, could definitely be turned down a decibel or two. Other than that, I actually prefer this location over their Scripps Ranch location. Service is always A+. Definitely worth checking out!
