Rancho Landscape & Tree Service did such a good job I felt compelled to post. My yard had never had a major professional tree service in 12 years, just minor pruning, and it sure needed one! I took a chance and called Rancho Landscape & Tree Care based on a door card they left, which I almost never do, but I looked them up on Yelp and found they were a local family business with all five-star reviews, which sounded like just the type of company I like to work with. Felix, the owner, arrived promptly after I called and gave me a fair and believable estimate (not so low as to suggest inexperience, not outrageous) and assessed the work needed more thoroughly than any other gardener or tree trimmer I'd spoken to. The bid is for check/cash, there's a fee for credit cards. He called ahead to firm up the price and job. Felix's daughter and son-in-law also worked with me and were good ambassadors for the family business. Felix and his large crew arrived with a huge chipper and did my job in only six hours! They had to go onto the neighbors' properties on all sides (I had secured permission) and there were no issues. The results were excellent. I am a producer and visual artist with a good eye for detail - albeit, not a tree expert -- and a demanding customer. Felix made solid suggestions, was very responsive to my requests to trim more and neaten up details, and let me know when there was a better way. The quality of the job was superb. I gave Felix a 12 feet pole as a mark and he got the ficus height perfectly even all the way around, which no other crew has ever done. I have a very difficult back row of trees behind the pool with no room to place a ladder nearby. Felix' crew was ingenious and put a giant ladder directly in the pool to reach the trees! He removed a neighbor's fig tree branches hanging over our property and cable lines that had been annoying us for years, dropping gooey fig pods on our pool deck that were very hard to clean up. I paid a bit extra to fully trim a neighbor's palm tree that had been dropping seeds and fronds on us and was tangled in the power lines, and it was money well spent. Plus, I was happy to help our neighbor at this time of national crisis. Felix trimmed my trees more professionally and more neatly that I have ever had done. When we called Rancho Tree Care to come out for an estimate, we got more than a company who would come out and trim our trees. Junior, the owner of the company, spent a great deal of time talking us through our many options, discussed the health of the trees, and offered experienced advice as to how best approach the job. On the day of the service, he was there to watch over the process and offer advice when a problem with one of our trees became apparent. I would caution others to not use them without getting a few other quotes. During the recent LA storm we had a large tree fall and I reached out for their price to remove it. I checked the internet and was expecting to pay around 1500-2k. I was pleased that they answered on a Friday night in the storm and sent someone right away to look at it (Junior) but was then quoted 8-10k!! I was shocked and he offered to lower the price and pretty quickly came down to $6k so I had a feeling they were gouging. I said I would check around and call back and did receive a text offering to discuss the price to remove it again, but in the meantime I reached out to another company who was also reviewed on Yelp who immediately quoted $1200. I was disappointed when Felix did not come back to do a walk through and sent his daughter to pick up the check. Once my husband- father and I did the walk through ourselves we noticed that were they removed a tree they broke a pipe in the sprinkler system. I've been using Rancho for about five years and over that time, I have been very pleased with their professional and the level of customer service they provide. They come out every couple of months to prune a palm but over the years they have pruned and specialty pruned a 30 year old chinaberry tree a few times and they've taken out a palm tree. Had an old tree fall down in my front yard due to some crazy high winds we've been having. Junior came out and gave me a quote that was about half of what another competitor quoted me, plus he said they could do the work the next morning where the other company said it would be "in the next week or two unless I wanted to pay an "emergency" fee. The crew arrived almost an hour earlier than expected, very professional with all the proper safety gear, clean trucks, the whole bit. They took care of the fallen tree and stump, plus another at risk tree and stump as well, filled in the holes and cleaned everything up to where you'd hardly know anything had even been there. We setup our appt to remove one Cypress out of a difficult location --- in the pool yard next to a cinder block wall on one side that had a vinyl fence for the pool and a wire running from the power pole and trim three palms. We had an engagement and would not be home while the work was completed. This leap of faith was worthwhile because when we arrived home the task was completed. They came in at a very fair price and had a large crew who were able to finish the job in 3 hours. There was one sprinkler broken which they came back to fix. Love that Rancho Tree Care is a family owned business and I had an exceptional experience with them. Though we really couldn't afford to spend money on tree maintenance this year, my husband and I just couldn't bear dealing with the massive mess that our two huge palm trees would dump on and around our house every fall & winter. He was so professional, friendly, and genuinely kind.
