Worst service ever! Our neighbor had them come out to trim their tree and then asked them to cut only HALF of our shared property line tree!! We were never asked or given the chance to approve!! They chopped it all the way to the trunk! we called them and asked them to please come fix it, and told us too bad! (The guy, Jesus, laughed at my wife and mocked her, and told me it's not their problem). No company pride at all. Do NOT USE THEM. Hired this company to take out and grind the stump of a tree. When the job was finished, they left a HUGE mess in the yard. They completely destroyed our garden pathways, killed plants, ran over & broke sprinklers and left 2-3" of debris everywhere. When we asked them to come clean it up and fix the damage, the guy said that's not part of the job. He then had the gall to say what a beautiful job they did. Unbelievable! If I could give this company a zero star rating, I would. We will never hire this company or recommend it for any jobs again. In comparison, the next week, we hired Alex Cervantes to take out and grind the stump of a tree of almost equal size in our front yard. What a difference! No broken sprinklers or damage to the yard. For the second time, this service has entered into property illegally - scaling our fence to do so. They did not get authorization from us to enter the property (called, left no message and proceeded to enter anyway), and blocked our driveway. Can you imagine if we had a big mean dog on the property? They have previously damaged our asphalt driveway, crushing it and running over a curb and then fought us for months on this. We have told them verbally DO NOT ENTER WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION and they do so anyway, climbing a fence! read more

I got 3 bids: Rancho was the first to come out, lowest bid and first to commit to get the job done. When Jose showed up with the crew at the scheduled time he had his guys trim another pine tree at no additional charge. He said "we are here with the boom truck and that tree needs a little work...". These folks came out on an SDGE mandated utility trim and completely decimated our 60 yr old eucalyptus...they didn't just clear the power lines they took about 1/4 off the tree and cut the branches straight across. First contact, Jesus showed up nearly an hour late, claimed I gave the wrong address to the office. He offered a 7:30a start time the next day at 8am he texted the start time won't be till after 1pm. Unacceptable. Whole day shot. Work began over four hours late, there was no Jesus. After completion, two trucks and crew, cleaned up and left. Gates open NO goodbye no payment pick up, no nothing. Of course, Rancho got to be paid! The calls began, inviting me to schedule a payment p/u. Calls from three different people in less than a week! If they paid that close of attention to accountability and integrity as they did their money, I wouldn't be sharing this insight with you. Payment was a bit of a hassle, had to request a waiver of fees. Office manager didn't have time for a 2 minute conversation. I couldn't make a recommendation for their services. This is yet another example of a sacred cow business that sits on it's on it's own laurels and disregards accountability or integrity. Meh... Not reliable. After being on their schedule for 3 weeks they were no call no show. Upon calling I was told they were on their way and would be here at 11am. They never showed never called. Owner, Jose De La Cruz, does not seem to value customers, does not communicate with customers about schedules or agreements, showed little commitment. Had to constantly call him and I felt that he was avoiding my calls and emails. Detailed Version: Originally, decided to invite Rancho Tree Service to bid the job because they seemed to have the proper equipment ....though I never the saw bucket-trucks, loaders, etc, so I don't really know the condition the equipment was in.... were licensed, insured, and seemed to be available relatively soon to start the job. Owner, Jose De La Cruz, gave me the estimate and actually considered working out a payment option that worked for the two of us. Unfortunately, "considered" is the extent of that payment option because when I requested to have the payment agreement noted on the estimate form.....obviously to have a record of our agreement.... he began to lose credibility and quickly began to show how unreliable he was. On the day....1 of the 3 appointments I should add....of our schedule tree service I was left wondering if they were actually going to show up to do the job; he was a no show. I called to see what happened and Jose explained that due to the previous rainy day, the crew was not working. I understand not working because of hazardous working conditions, but come on, let your client know so that they don't waste their time waiting for you! Apparently, if I hadn't called him he wasn't going to call me to let me know they weren't going to make it. Very unprofessional. Second scheduled day revolved around a similar situation I had to call him to see if he was going to show...I called with my number twice and no answer, I called a minute later with a different number and he answered, so I figured at this point I was being avoided.....anyway, he was not going to be able to start the job as we spoke about because he lost a bet with his crew. Apparently, if owner won the bet crew works the weekend, if crew won then owner lets crew have the weekend off. If you have clients expecting you to start a job and you are already behind schedule because of weather, the last thing you want is to be playing paper, rock, scissors to see if you will work or not. Very unprofessional. We spoke a third time, yes I initiated the call since I had no idea when he expected to finally start, and because of losing this bet he guaranteed being about to do the job the following weekend. He was so confident he would not disappoint he said that if he didn't show up he would cut the bill in half, yes knock off 50% from the original estimate. I assume he was impressed with that statement, but I was not. He had already demonstrated a lack of accountability and time management, and what exactly did this "discount" mean if there wasn't any collateral backing it....meaning he could just walk away because there was nothing invested and he was not expecting payment for ALREADY completed work.... The discount meant absolute nothing and benefited me ONLY if he decided to do the job. If anything, if he didn't show up it just meant I was back where I started a month ago, looking for a tree trimming expert, and well, what it meant for him was that he would lose money if he were to do the job -- and what business wants to do that? So you guessed it, he did not show up for the THIRD time, he never finalized our agreement in writing, I never received an email back from him confirming the "discount" and he never called to let me know he was bailing. We called these people on the recommendation of a friend when we wanted our palm trees trimmed. They sent out their estimator and we were taken back by his arrogance and unprofessionalism. When he gave us an outrageous estimate and we told him that we had three other estimates that were at least $300 less than what he quoted us and thanked him for his time, all he could do is tell us that those estimates came from unlicensed companies that will have workers who will either get hurt and sue us or do damage and they are uninsured. We decided not to use them after he left because of his attitude. Only to have someone from their office call us two weeks later and tell me that I have been scheduled for thursday for my palms to be trimmed. I just told her that I already had them done and hung up. RUDE I didn't authorize anyone to schedule them to do the work. And the irony of it all is he did do the work of the person who recommended them and ended up damaging one of their palms and would not stand behind their work and all our friend wanted was their palm fixed, so you would think their insurance would cover it. Well when they pressed the issue the guy threatened bodily harm, so they had no recourse but to file a claim against their license.......................really these people are a joke. HIghly Recommend Mr. De La Cruz and his men provided excellent service. He was at our house making a free written estimate within hours of when I called. His rates were reasonable and he explained exactly how he would be doing the job. (- I needed several mature 35' - 50' trees removed.) He said they would begin at 7am and they were here with their equipment ready by 6:50 the next morning. The men were very courteous to our neighbors as they worked. They are definitely skilled at what they do because every branch dropped safely and the surrounding area was not disturbed. They completed the entire job within the timeframe Mr. De La Cruz had promised, and, they left the area cleaner than it was before they arrived. I am 100% happy with Rancho Tree Service. I can not think of a single thing that I could suggest for them to improve upon. Jose De La Cruz was true to his word. I would definitely recommend Rancho Tree Service. Drive around and look at their work. It speaks for itself. That's why I called them in the first place. Best price, on time, and full crew. Jose called and text to let me know that they were on their way. I have lots of huge trees and they did the job by 3 or so. They were half the price of Alspaw. The clean up was fine, but I would recommend that you turn the pool off, and tell them to watch where they drop the branches. A few plants were damaged, but I guess that would be tough to avoid. I had HUGE over grown trees! Knowing a little Spanish would be best for communicating with the crew. Jose said his English speaking employee was off that day, so I had to talk to Jose on the phone, and then he called his guys. I can't express enough how greatful I am to Cisco Molinari for recommending Rancho Tree Service. Our property had 5 very large, very old, and very dead Redwoods on it. One blew down taking out a fence, narrowly missing our 5th wheel by only a few feet. I had already recieved a quote earlier in the year for their removal but it ran into $1000+. These trees were up to 50' tall which equates to a lot of debris. Jose, owner of Rancho Tree Service really worked with me on the price and came in $100's less than anyone else. More importantly, at least to me, was that all of his crew are well trained and certified in safety and medical. Even while they were removing trees they utilized the time to demonstrate training to each other that they had recently received on tree cutting and safety equipment. Being retired from the State of California, I know first-hand what a well trained and certified crew looks like and that was these guys. I didn't need to worry about any of them getting hurt, they constantly stayed in communication with each other while bring down these big trees. They had full safety gear on, hardhats, hearing protection, eye wear, and the special chaps needed with operating chainsaws. I've read a few of the other reviews that are not favorable and can only hope that most of them are not actual customers. I am real and my experience with Rancho was top notch 100% professional. They removed a palm tree growing right next to my pool. This palm had a base of 3 feet across which required them to take it down in sections. They brought down each section slowley in a controlled manner using ropes and gear to avoid damaging the concrete or pool. Thank you Rancho Tree Service. I sleep much better not worrying if one of those trees was going to come down during the next storm possibly causing a lot of damage or worse yet, injuring someone. I used Rancho Tree Service to remove a couple Palm trees that were encroaching on a couple patio areas. I also needed to have a few trees thinned out. I was hesitant to hire anyone to do the pruning because I was afraid I would get a hack job. I was pleasantly surprised. The crew sent did a really nice job and were hard working and polite. They cleaned up the yard and used a large crane claw to pick up the debris the men had stacked up near the road. Jose, the owner told me ahead of time what to expect, and they followed through on what they claimed. The men even helped me push a smaller tree back up after a strong wind had blown it over. Rancho Tree Service is butchering the trees, in lieu of cutting them, for the Utility Company. This event occurs every year or two in Three Rivers, CA 93271. The "saw man" utilized for this year's endeavor is an artless butcher. He is ruining the trees, just sawing off limbs not even in the way of the lines and with no attempt to leave anything even close to "attractive" left. The only sawing this man is worthy of is ground cutting down the whole tree. I've been here almost 25 years, and this is the only time the utility has turned a butcher lose in our area. It makes me ill to drive down our street and see this destruction to these once beautiful trees. I understand this work has to be done, however the person utilizing the saw should be required to have SOME skill at this task. read more

I found a business card on my door, called that same day, my called was returned by Rafael. He came out the next day with a free quote, I called 2 others. I have an enormous Chinese Elm, over 50 years old, HUGE! I was given a reasonable price He scheduled me the following week. His crew of 2 arrived close to time given , then went to work. It took many hours to complete and they were not equipped to remove the limbs. They told me a truck would be arriving the following day ( Saturday ) to remove everything. They arrived close to time given, with a claw truck. It took them maybe 1/2 hour to remove & clean up nicely. I am so satisfied with the service, I have recommended to relatives already. I manage a 4 acre heavily wooded property and have used Rancho several times during 2013. The first time was too remove a fallen branch from behind my main building that was obstructing the dumpster area. I arrived to work that morning, found the branch and quickly called several contracters for bids, not only did Rancho come in the lowest but the work was done the same day.
