First time trying this place because of their plant-based options. There are SO MANY items in the menu. Too many options to choose from and I couldn't decide. We went with the easiest, their asada fries and burger. The fuego burger was SO good. It was tiny but mighty! Packed with flavors. The fries was also a big portion imo. The cashier/server was super friendly. Explained the menu well and all their items as well as bringing us everything we needed. She brought water and condiments as well. We sat outside their patio and was a nice small little snook. It was cozy, relaxing, and had a good ambiance sitting next to all their flowers and plants. I'm so grateful to have a vegan restaurant nearby that's open late and has easy parking! What a rare combination of gifts. So far, I've really enjoyed the Mustard & Maple Chick'n Burger, and the Crispy AF Burger. The size of the meal is generous, and the food is tasty. I'm curious to try other items. I wouldn't take away any stars for this, but if one thing could be improved, I'd say it's the fries. On a couple of occasions, they've tasted like they've been sitting under a warmer for a while, and they've been a bit under-seasoned (for my personal preference). Overall though, highly recommend. It was nice that they included 2 Bags of Seasoned Fries . This is my favorite place to order from when I am visiting San Diego. Their food never misses and I love that they are always updating their menu with new and exciting items that are packed with flavor and my friend and I can never decide so we always end up ordering different things and sharing. On a recent trip to San Diego, my sister and I joined a few friends for dinner. We had the choice of Evolution, Val's Vegan Kitchen or Donna Jean's. I ate at Evolution the last time I was in San Diego, so went with Val's Vegan Kitchen. My sister and I shared the Beef Bulgogi Mac and Cheese..so yummy! I got a shake and my sister got a different flavor shake, both tasted good. I like that you order and pay at the counter, and grab a table. Though the interior is on the small side. I am non vegan / vegetarian eater who likes to dabble and try vegan places, so hard to say if I am the best judge. This place is a 2 in 1 vegan spot, with a super large menu, which is great because if you're with a group who doesn't know what they want I'm sure they can easily find something they are hungry for. Today I got the bulgogi beef Mac and cheese. I really liked the sauce and the bulgogi. Wish the pasta shape was different, and the cheese sauce tasted a little plain and under seasoned but overall I enjoyed my meal! I think next time I might try one of their burger options. They also had a full menu of shakes, but they said they were all out today / were not serving them at that time which was a disappointment. So this one restaurant has 3 different spots inside. It was little confusing. I accidentally ordered something that wasn't on Val's menu. So I got the BLTA off of the other restaurant and wasn't a fan. My other order was the burger from Val's and it was really good! The smoothies from Vals are delicious. Found this Heavenly Gem on Google. Chose #8 Smash burger (V) w/ cheese & mashed potatoes and gravy. OMG! Highly recommend! So cheesy, creamy, chewy, mashy. Fries were hot and made to order. Not crispy but not limp. Just right. A tad salty but as you can see I didn't mind too much. It wasn't super busy so I got my food and about 10 minutes. The counter staff is very friendly, and I was created by a barista with a great big smile. The burger came out and it was the wrong burger. We sent it back. The next order burger came out missing the burger patty and onions. Sent it back. The third time the order came out the Mac n cheese was ice cold like pulled straight from the fridge. The 4th time the order came out the burger was still wrong...they used bean instead of impossible. We just ate and moved on. Both of us felt sick the rest of the night. We let the owner know via instagram and we were happy to give them another shot as sometimes it's just an off day. Welllllll we ordered tonight and I went to the bathroom. First bathroom was out of soap and toilet paper. Decided to walk into the other bathroom only to be greeted by a giant cockroach. If this huge thing is wandering around in the bathroom then there has to be hundreds of them all over. I've been a chef for 20 years. I've been vegan for almost 11 years and this burger is in my top 3! One of the best vegan burgers I've ever had. Everything from the cheese to the crispy bacon that was actually crispy and not chewy to the 2 smash burger patties, it was all perfect. My wife got the Fysh & Chips and the Fysh was so delicious. Crispy, not super overpowering in terms of fish taste, which I like, and the sauce was amazing. I ordered the mustard and maple chick'n sandwich and waffle fries with "cheese" and gravy. ​It was all so delicious. ​​​​​My friend got the same sandwich but with regular fries. The photo attached is his photo. ​​​Since it was my first time, I asked for some recommendations from the staff and they were friendly and helpful.
