One of the finest tastings I've ever had the pleasure of attending (and I've been to many). Wes is a fantastic host. The pairings are amazing, the learning opportunity is unmatched, and of course the wines are magnificent.

What an incredible afternoon we spent with Wes here- the wine, view, laughs and education were all beyond expectation. We found out about Wes on an episode of V is for Vino, and KNEW we had to set up a tasting with him. We tasted such a wonderful line up of Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Cab Sauvs paired with Wes' knowledge and sense of humor- in such a beautiful location... NOT to be missed if you come to the Santa Barbara area! And cannot forget Blue- what a smart, fun winery dog- watch her toss the ball to herself, best trick ever! Looking forward to getting our case and sharing SOME with friends... cheers and thank you Wes for an elevated experience.

Every single wine that I have tasted from this winery is magnificent! I am usually a red wine kind of person but their Chardonnay is out of this world amazing! If you have a chance to go taste this wine, I highly recommend it. You will not regret it. If you can have Wes pour your wine, even better! He has a way with words and know so much about the wine industry.

We had a beautiful tour of Ranchos de Ontiveros last week with Wes as our guide. Wes began the tour by taking us through the vineyards and educating our group on how the land was acquired, the story of James Ontiveros (winemaker), and general wine fun facts that I otherwise would not have known! Following this, we headed to the ranch park where we were greeted by kittens, a beautiful open space, and a lovely spread of snacks. Now for the best part... we began tasting and were given a variety of 9 wines to try ranging from Chardonnay, to Pinot Noir, and then finished with a Cab. Each and every wine was delightful and our group enjoyed chatting about the notes we picked up on as well as our personal favorites. We should have made this our last stop of the day, as nothing was able to top it. Thank you Ranchos de Ontiveros and staff for the amazing experience, I can't wait to come back!

One of the best things about Foxen is that they truly have something for everyone whether you're into Pinot Noir, old world style red blends, whites or rosé. Every time we visit there's always something new and interesting to try. I'm a bit of a wine nerd, so I really appreciate how knowledgeable and passionate the team is. It's always fun being able to go deeper into the winemaking process and really talk through vineyard sourcing, production methods and the style behind each wine instead of just doing a standard tasting. You can tell there's a lot of thought and care put into what they produce. The ambience is also fantastic at both locations. The main tasting room has a great relaxed atmosphere and the Shack has its own iconic vibe. Definitely try to visit both if you get the chance because the tasting menus are different and it's a great way to experience a wider variety of wines. I quickly asked where they were headed and wanted to know more. They told us Kenneth Volk and mentioned all of the unique varieties. Only on this occasion, where we had already been down that way tasting and it was getting later in the day but with the opportunity to try so many new places on this passport, we gave it a go! We arrived at Kenneth Volk and right away my boyfriend spotted a familiar face from Rancho Sisquoc. That was lovely! I right away spotted the vegan cinnamon rolls :) We tasted several different wines and honestly, I enjoyed what we had and will return in the near future to taste again at a couple select places that were brand new to us this go around, but with a fresh palate. I'm happy we made it here and had a pleasant experience so we can get them into the rotation next time.

We came with our pup, and Google Maps took us up Tepusquet from the 166. Don't do it. Just don't. I love a good adventure, but this didn't make any sense for being any faster or more efficient. It's windy, narrow, and steep. Poor June was car sick from the drive. While the drive had some great views, we were anxious to get to Cambria. Upon arrival we noticed that the tasting room was uphill from the vineyards, providing a great view. I will say that the tasting room was cut into a little crevice so the views from the deck are limited. However, there is a beautiful private tasting area on a hill (when you turn into the winery parking lot) that would be a fantastic spot for good views. The wine was nice, plenty of variety. And I appreciated the unique guidance of wines from the staff. By providing your preferred wines and notes they will create a personal tasting menu. We also opted for the charcuterie for 2 which was perfect. Plenty of bites to accompany our tasting. Because wine is so unique it's always difficult to review, so I prefer to focus on the experience as a whole, and Cambria nailed it. We would definitely return and hang out by their fireplace. But how could I possibly pass up the chance to go to the holy site of some of the best Pinot there is, Bien Nacido vineyard. We split a tasting and I had crackers and cheese between small sips of wine so that I could handle it. The first pour was a lovely Chardonnay but we were there for Pinot Noir. The second pour was a Pinot from their sister vineyard about 6 miles west - Solomon. This wine was a nice surprise. A solid and a little light - this Pinot was excellent on its own and paired particularly well with the Manchego cheese they have for sale at the tasting room. The next pour is what we came for - Bien Nacido Estate Pinot '22. The grapes were from various blocks around the Bien Nacido vineyard. This wine was more substantial than the second pour and had some heft and earthiness to it. We loved it of course. Because of my chemo situation, my stomach preferred the lighter Pinot. My taste buds preferred the Bien Nacido Pinot. Both wines would be welcome in our wine collection and it was a privilege to drink their wine at their vineyard.
