I've had a great experience every time I visit this dental office. The service is consistently professional, friendly, and reassuring. Dr. Sun Tao truly stands out as an excellent and trustworthy dentist. Previously, I had a very unpleasant experience at another dental clinic, where I was given what I later realized was an overly aggressive and unnecessary treatment plan. They even recommended that I get two dental crowns. When I came to Dr. Sun, he carefully reviewed my case and clearly explained that those crowns were not necessary at all, and that a simple filling would be sufficient. Dr. Sun personally performed the filling, and the entire process went smoothly. His technique is excellent, his hands are steady, and it's obvious that he is very experienced and highly skilled. The result was outstanding, and the overall experience was far better than at the previous clinic. What I appreciate most is that Dr. Sun never pushes unnecessary treatments or procedures just to make money. He genuinely puts the patient's best interest first, which is rare and incredibly reassuring. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Sun. Initially everything appeared to have gone well with my dental fillings but I had pain when biting down. I notified dentist Tao Sum and he told me this was normal sensitivity and it would go away. It did not go away. I came back and expressed my concerns regarding the dental work done and my symptoms but he told me "it was all in my head". Please be aware: if you bring up pain that is not going away and get dismissed please seek another dentist. It is not normal for the pain to stay. read more

Embarrassingly enough, I hadn't been to the Dentist since the Pandemic. I quarantined with my now husband in Newport Beach, and post-Pandemic, I simply had not taken the time to find a new Dentist. Until now. My husband recommended I go to his Dentist, but when I looked at the Yelp reviews for his Dentist, they were just average. Then I saw Dr. Sun's Yelp reviews and thought..."this seems like a great place to go." And it was! Dr. Sun and his staff were incredibly welcoming. The office is super clean. They were on time. And there was no pressure to due procedures you don't need. In Los Angeles, I had to pay for parking. I think I saw the Dentist briefly, if at all, each visit. Not here. Dr. Sun spent a lot of time looking at my X-Rays (which he did for free), going over my history, and asking me questions. So, the point of this review is that I am back on my every-six-month Dentist regime happily with Dr. Sun and his team. I highly recommend. read more

Dr. Sun is the best! After bad experiences with 2 other dental offices, my mom recommended him to me and raved about him (he has offices in Apple Valley and Costa Mesa). I've seen him twice and couldn't be happier. I had a pretty bad, persistent toothache from a cavity, and two other dentists recommended root canals at several hundred dollars. Dr. Sun told me that he recommended removing the tooth (a back molar), and since it was impacting a wisdom tooth, the wisdom tooth would grow in in about 6 months and replace it. I was lucky because I had a "replacement tooth" right next to it. I don't know why none of the other dentists told me this, but it was the best option and only cost me a little over 100. He extracted the tooth right then and there, and it was an immediate relief and healed very quickly. I came back for a full/cleaning exam and was completely happy with Dr. Sun's expertise, professionalism, and kindness. Dental work has always scared the beejezus out of me and I have sensitive gums, and I'm sure he can tell by the death grip I had on the chair arms, but everything was completely fine, even without anesthesia for the cleaning. He is honest, straightforward, and kind, stopping to ask every once in a while if I'm OK during a procedure and explaining exactly what he's going to do, exactly what I need, and how long he recommend I can wait before needing it done. He didn't try to nickel and dime me like other offices. His hygienist is great and very sweet too (I wish I could remember his name!) I can't recommend Dr. Sun enough. He doesn't take my HMO insurance but since his prices are more than reasonable, it isn't a problem and he's worth it. The office is very nice and clean too. He does not do unnecessary procedures to rack up money, unlike previous dentists who said I needed crowns when I didn't. He works with me on insurance and they accommodate my special needs. He is a dentist that gives you a forecast of what is needed and doesn't sell you on insecurities of vanity or emotion. Mentionable as well is the front desk Lupe , I swear she can do anything . She makes you feel very welcome , she makes room on the books for new and existing customers alike . She is amazing at scheduling and putting your nerves at ease . Dr.Sun is great. I first went to him in 2014, when a filling fell out. It was gold and he was able to clean the tooth and reuse the filing....I had it in my purse for 6 months, only charge $50. I have now been going to him for 5 years. I had my first cavity last month, I was really scared. He had to remove an old filling and redrill the entire tooth... BUT it was painless and he did such a great job. I haven't had any problems with it. He is a great Dentist. read more

Dr. Sun is awesome! We went to him about 10 years ago for several years as he was highly recommended and was covered by our insurance. Then insurance changed and between my husband and I we visited several dentists and hated them all. They wanted to remove healthy teeth, would always come up with some ridiculously expensive bill to do this or that. We were fed up, cancelled our insurance, and went back to Dr. Sun paying retail which is worth it when you're getting an HONEST dentist who actually cares about your teeth. It is very difficult to find a good dentist these days. I changed many dentists over the years until i found Dr. Sun several years ago. Dr. Sun is very professional and always put patient's care and feeling to his highest priority over anything else. My new dentist for life. I've been searching for a dentist for years. Every 6 months I go to a new dentist because every time I have a negative experience. Luckily I got a flyer at my home for Dr Sun. Decided to read his reviews and Yelp then decided to make an appointment. First off, it's a nice office, staff is extremely nice. Dr Sun is really sweet and explained everything he was looking at. Experience was awesome. I even made my next appointment for my next 6 month check up, which I never do. My former dentist wouldn't even come into the room after my teeth were cleaned to check them after I had told him I wasn't going to do any cosmetic procedures on my bottom teeth and then had the audacity to charge me for his services, which was removed after I had caught this . Dr. Sun was recommended to me by a close relative and have now been going to him for over two years. Best dentist ever!!!Just saw him again this week and requested that I come in for more than two visits a year for cleaning, and he stated that was totally unnecessary. I was recommended to Dr. Sun by a coworker after I had another dental office try to take advantage of me and my money and I wanted a second opinion. I could not be happier that I have found Dr. Sun!! He told me that I did not even need the procedure that the other firm had said was mandatory. I have been going to him ever since (for several years) and have always found the experience both pleasant and refreshing. He is honest, spends time with you, his prices are very reasonable and he and does not try to scam you like so many other dentists these days. I recommended him to another coworker who was afraid of dentists and had been having serious mouth pains. She went to him and he told her that she didn't have any tooth, problems, she just had a sinus infection, so she went and got antibiotics and was so happy that the pain she had felt for a while was gone.
