A heart warming donut!!! Every single time I go to Randy's, I'm just so happy with the quality of their dough and the flavors that they offer. My sister is a doughnut snob and her standard for judging donut shops is by seeing how great their glazed donuts are, and she says that their glazed donut is perfect to her. Nice variety. Not sure if they fry these on site because the plain buttermilk was hard. The red velvet donut was good. I had a ham and cheese croissant but after I paid for it and four donuts and tipped the cashier 15% the cashier totally forgot me and 5 minutes later I had to ask him for it and took another few minutes to assemble and microwave it. The doughnuts were really good, close to if not the best I have had. The line was short. There's a drive through option as well. I found it because it was on Food Paradise the Doughnut Paradise episode. As soon as we pulled up my 10 year old said Iron man was here in Iron Man 2. He was right. 11th grade 2nd period French 2 class with Monsieur DeWitte was in fact one of my most memorable classes at Venice High School. First, as long as we spoke (or attempted to speak) French 100% of the time, he basically allowed us to set the tone on how the class was conducted. B) M. DeWitte was crazy obsessed with idiomatic expresssions; 70% of our grade was based on using them, a lot. Trois, M. DeWitte was tall and thin and oddly resembled a vampire complete with translucent skin. And even more odd was the fact I aced the class despite missing about 30 minutes every day because it was absolutely mandatory to stop at the donut shop before class. M. DeWitte didn't even bat a wicked eyebrow because when we finally got to class, the French dialog ramped up like a low budget French film sprinkled with teenage drama sans the cigarettes. I love donuts. It's fried dough. Fried dough is delicious and sinful which even more odd, was how M. DeWitte explained the scent of his favorite cologne "Eau Sauvage". My donut fancy began as a child - I loved the plain ones. I was alone in this love so I never had to worry if I was the late to the donut box, there was always a plain donut waiting for me. I still love plain donuts, I guess I always will. If I'm feeling feisty I might opt for a cinnamon sugar donut, but I'll never ever reach for a Trix-vegan-carob-maple-baked-hand-formed-wannabe-donut. Donuts that try too hard are not only atrocious they're downright blasphemous. Randy's donuts are decent. Not perfect nor are they what I would call a favorite. I'll eat one if that's what's in the box and chances are very good if someone I know buys them, there will for sure be a plain one for me. I think Randy's donuts are obnoxiously sweet but maybe that the draw and if so, at least we know they're making 'em fresh. Randy's always has a line of customers. However, once we got to the drive-through, there was no car in front of us and the drive through clerk asked us to hold which was fine, we waited about 6-7 mins until he took our order we ordered a glazed blueberry doughnut, a lemon donut, a coffee, and a ice cold vanilla coffee totaling a little over $13.00 dollars. Once we pulled up to pay, we waited additional five minutes when the clerk came to the window he did not say sorry for the wait he was moving very slow, and when he gave us our bag with our donuts, I guess it was our fault for not looking in the bag before we drove off because he only gave us two donuts, the reason for the two stars is because the iced coffee taste really good. My sister and I just happened to be driving down Harbor Boulevard the other day when we saw the Randy's iconic huge donut. I have only heard about the Randy's Donuts in LA but I have never been. The donuts here have never disappointed. They have all kinds of specialty donuts along with the usual suspects. Beware the big donuts are BIG. A straight glazed is their signature and a good measure of a donut place. Theirs is well done. There is a small seating area inside but nothing to write home about. The staff are usually so busy, I don't think it get regularly cleaned up. The staff are pleasant but I have had a few instances where the service was basic. I think this is due to staffing. They always seem shorted staff which impacts there ability to handle the drive through, etc. The price is typical for the size and quality. Now granted, I'm a simple man, and I enjoy simple pleasures like a cream filled Long John and a chocolate milk. And Randy's delivers! The stuff is so good, you just want to roll around on the floor with it. But I digress ... One thing to note is the AMAZING level of customer service. All of the people I've encountered there are top notch. I mean, the place had the same friendly vibe and conscience courtesy as Chick-Fil-A (which is the gold standard of customer service, in my humble opinion). I've never went to Randy's but I heard it was good. I'm pregnant I live close and I was craving a donut so I went. It's raining and a little dark so their menu was hard to read. They didn't have the donut I wanted so I asked what they had for boba. It was too dark to read the menu and the rain made it worse. A friend told me that they opened up a branch near me. This one is in Costa Mesa on Harbor Blvd. We stopped by here after our lunch at Mogu Mogu. I love to smell of the store when I went inside. I also very excited to see all the different flavor donuts displayed by the counter. Although they have the typical donut flavors but still plenty enough to choose from. I wasn't able to decide and finally picked the strawberry donuts with sprinkle, the maple donut and the long john. A great sweet dessert after lunch. My friend and I are on a quest to find the best local doughnuts. I've been to Randy's in LA before, it's well known as a top tier doughnuttery, but we had to give the Costa Mesa spot a "quality assurance" test. My very scientific taste test includes 1 glazed raised (classic doughnut) and 1 chocolate long john - and I'm happy to report that both were excellent. Randy's dough formula is floofy and delicious, totally living up to the hype. The glazed raised is a 5/5 God-tier doughnut, they've really got it down to a science. The chocolate long john was a 4/5 - only because the frosting isn't the best I've ever had (just my opinion). Even so this is still a top tier doughnut. My friend likes to just get a dozen randoms for us to also try, and to our surprise, the Coconut-dusted doughnut was a sleeper pick for the best of the box. His favorite was the glazed twists. What can I say, Randy's Donuts in Orange County, I asked for this awhile back in my Randy's review for the Downey, CA location. Decided to evade the hype moments of opening day, week, and month. Instead, ended up here on a cloudy, not-so-busy Tuesday in May. The timing could not have been more perfect. There were 3 people ahead of us in line, and the line was fast. We went incredibly simple on this visit, 4 Glazed Crondies (Randy's croissant donut) and an iced coffee for the mister. As we took a seat on the couch inside, the donuts were great as usual, no complaints on taste. Customer service was fine, nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible either. Browse the menu or look behind the glass case for something tantalizing. They have all the donuts that the other Randy's locations have, and if you want the freshest selections ask for the ones off the rack if they don't automatically give you those. TERRIBLE! Been there 3 times since they've opened on Tuesday. (3/11/2021) The first day they opened - you'd think since it was their "Grand Opening" in Orange County that you'd get that 'feeling of excitement' once you got there but it was the exact opposite. It was unorganized and felt as if no one knew what they were doing. So disappointing. No free donuts and the girl at the drive thru didn't look to comfortable bending/crouching down to give us our order. Second visit was 3/10/2021 @ 4 in the afternoon - the day after & still the same thing. Unorganized, lots of people in line in the rain, short staffed (maybe because 2 of the employees were in the sitting area of the shop going over paperwork etc. When line is busy and out the door and you have customers standing in the rain - it would've been nice if those 2 employees sitting inside came out and greeted us and let us know that we would be served soon etc. Third visit was this morning @ 1:45 am - long line at the drive thru. Line did not move for a very long time. An employee came out at around 2:15ish and took a picture of the line and then went back in. I could hear her telling a customer in line (drive thru line) that her boss didn't believe there was a line that early in the morning. Y'all have been opened for less than a week.
