Great donuts! I finally got custom letter donuts from here for a birthday. Placing the order was simple as I called the store a day before I wanted to pickup with my specifications. You're able to pick out the letters and sprinkles, glaze. They came out fresh and each letter was large in height. The custom letters are $5.25 per letter as of November 2025. Parking in this plaza is easy and pickup was simple they had it ready at the time I requested. read more

I'm not sure what sorcery they use for their donuts, but my gawd they're delicious. Even the donut holes (usually my source of judgement on the quality & yumminess of a donut) they were like little pops of soft sugary loafs of heaven. Ughhh. But not too sweet! It's not overpowering in sweetness. Again, what sorcery is this? lol At first, I was hesitant to pay almost $30 for a dozen donuts (that I didn't get to select, it was via DoorDash & based on hopes it would be a good selection.) I'm so happy they put a sprinkle & a glazed twist, a decent variety for everyone (& selfishly for me.) I will absolutely be getting my donuts from here, totally worth it. read more

Really bummed I didn't get to try their wildly popular bear claws because they were completely sold out. SAD PANDA. The apple fritter and cinnamon crumb were delightful and nommy! Okay, so one of our patients brought us donuts and ham & cheese croissants from Mag's Donuts... and OMG those croissants were next-level delicious! Buttery, cheesy, hammy goodness -- basically perfection in pastry form. I could've eaten like five, no shame. Didn't get to try the donuts because they vanished faster than my willpower on a cheat day but judging by how good the croissants were, I'm 99.9% sure the donuts slap too. This place is so good! I can't speak on their coffee or donuts, but their breakfast burrito was amazing. It is simple with eggs, cheese, bacon, potatoes, and sausage. It is served hot, fresh, and with a hot salsa dip. Each bite was so flavorful and delicious. The burrito takes awhile to make so be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes depending on how busy it is. I went in the morning and the service was slow, but the line moved quick. There is plenty of space to park in this plaza. The inside of the place is small with a few tables and chairs. So good!! I came here 2pm on a Sunday & they still had some good selections to choose from. I got a ham & cheese filled crossaint and sprinkle chocolate donut. The donut was still fresh and warm. It was also crispy & light compared to most cake donuts I've tried. SO GOOD. Their ham & cheese filled croissant was perfect. They also have jalapeño ham & cheese filled croissant which I assumed were good as the person behind me ordered 4. The owners were two older couple I think? And were both super friendly! I'm not a huge fan of donuts in general but if I find a unique donut I will definitely try it. This place has good choices and all the employees are helpful. I am basing my rating for my second visit and a little on my first. The reason why my first visit wasn't so great was because even though the donuts were good and employees were nice, I did notice some flies roaming over the donuts and it's because it was so hot that day and they kept the door open. The second visit I came first thing when they opened and it was fine. Also I wanted to order their donut letters but it was $4.25 for each letter!!!! That's so pricey! Next time I definitely want to try their breakfast sandwiches and drinks. This place is very busy on a weekend in the morning so that's always a good sign. read more

My brother had a craving for Boston Creme donuts. In his search for donuts, he came across Mag's Donuts and Bakery. He figured he'd give it a whirl and ordered a dozen for delivery, and I'm so glad he did because Mag's bavarian cream filled donuts definitely hit the spot. The dough alone speaks for itself. The dough was noticeably soft, fresh, and everything you'd expect from a good donut. I was worried the dough may be dry or wouldn't taste fresh and like the donuts had been sitting out for a while, which I feel is sadly the case for most donut shops, but I'm happy to say that was not the case at all with Mag's Donuts. The dough was perfectly soft and SO good and made the whole experience better. The Bavarian cream filling was the cherry on top of these donuts. They had the perfect amount of cream filling. Not too much, not too little, which I appreciate because most donut shops are stingy with their custard filling. Not Mag's Donuts. They give you the perfect amount, so you get some in almost every bite. Overall, I would give these donuts easily 5 out of 5 stars and hope to try more donuts from Mag's donuts because they are donut goals! read more

I came here on an early morning before watching my 2 month old granddaughter! My son in law suggested. It has a nice appearance on the outside and looks clean and smells nice on the inside! I ordered two plain croissants for my daughter and my almost 2 year old granddaughter. I ordered a jalapeño ham and cheese croissant for myself! The workers there seem nice. My croissant was warmed up and was awesome! They sure put alot of ham, cheese, and jalapeños. Well worth it! When back in the area, will definitely come back! SO GOOD!!! I picked some up for Mother's Day. I was deciding between here and sidecar. So glad I tried this place. Not only is it half the price, it's just as good as sidecar if not better. Seriously, Mag's has THE best donuts. I try not to eat donuts, but if I want to splurge and have a treat, I only get donuts at Mag's. And if you do come, don't worry about getting more because their donuts stay fresh for about 3 days. They also have large letter donuts that you can order in advance. Samantha is always so helpful. I had the biggest crave for a blueberry muffin this morning, and since I had no dinner last night, it had to be one of those "muffin top included" sizes, so I was pretty excited when I saw Mag's photo on Doordash and immediately ordered 4 (mine is a fairly remote office) - one for each remaining workday. First: SUPER FRESH, Deliciously Soft and Yum Yum Yummy! What I most love is that their online photo truly matches what I received. Chock full of sweet blueberries and these muffins are so soft - just like I like them. Nicest people and fast delivery. I want to support ALL our fantastic, hard-working local businesses. This isn't an indictment on the donuts themselves, which are totally fine and tasty. My beef is the price. $23.70 for a dozen generic, garden-variety donuts is highway robbery. My first and last time at this establishment. And at these prices, they could at least give folks an extra donut or some holes for free. Yikes. read more

Wow. I think I may have found my new favorite donut place. I stumbled upon it about 3 weeks ago and have been there twice already. The donuts are amazing and perfectly fluffy.. if that makes sense. Even on day 2 (at room temperature) there are amazing, not sure how it would be if they were refrigerated.. they would probably last more but we finished a dozen by day 2 lol. Absolutely delicious. I got the original glaze, chocolate glaze, maple and chocolate bar, and my son wanted the strawberry glazed with sprinkles. Happened to be in the area and craving donuts, so this was the closest shop around. Service was nice and the small line moved pretty quick. They had plenty of options for donuts and croissants, and all looked pretty good. They did warn us the maple bars were wet, which they were and it was kinda eh, but oh well. The frosted cake donut was a little subpar along with the basic glazed donut. I feel like it's pretty hard to mess those up, but they just didn't taste that good compared to many other donut shops. I guess we're lucky it's not our local shop, but yeah we'll probably skip this if we're ever in the area. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE New favorite donut shop!! I found Mag's Donuts purely by chance but i'm so happy I did! The customer service is amazing, I've already been back twice since finding this location and each time i'm greeted with a warm and welcoming smile! The donuts are super soft and yummy, and there's always a really nice selection of different donuts to choose from. Also they're not oily or super sweet like some of the mainstream donut chains such as Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts. From now on I will always go to Mag's to satisfy my donut cravings! According to local lore, a group known as the "Dew Dads" began a tradition in the 1960s of gathering early for coffee and donuts, and that tradition continues today. Some regulars even have their own hooks on the wall for their coffee mugs. The hippo sugar cookies change with the holidays. I visited around Easter, and they had Easter colors. We got a glazed donut for my son, and he loved it. I got a hippo cookie to share; it was a standard sugar cookie, but the little, colorful hippo was adorable. It's a great treat for kids of all ages. We also got a frozen banana covered in chocolate with sprinkles. My son didn't care for it, but I really enjoyed it. I appreciate that Dad's Donuts opens early, allowing visitors to sample their goodies. It felt like a classic mom-and-pop shop, and I could tell many are regulars, as the staff was on a first-name basis with some patrons. Dad's Donuts is definitely a gem on Balboa Island, and their delicious treats and charming, family-friendly atmosphere make it a must-visit.

I recently had a very large order and did 45 dozen (540 pieces!!) directly with the store. Gary was very quick to respond and helpful with the flavor reccs/modifications. We did: glazed, french toast, chocolate with chocolate sprinkles, chocolate covered strawberry, strawberry w rainbow sprinkles, and vanilla chocolate swirl. When I searched on Google for ice cream near me- chocolate shoppe ice cream popped up then upon looking further I realized it was sold within duck donuts. Still ventured to try it Two guys working, one said he was new, and didn't know where all the flavors were / allowed us to try some b4 we ordered but was a pain bc the flavors were spread between two freezers in front of store and whatever was in the back. Placed an order for 3 double scoop cups (all they had) and took a really long time to make them having to figure out where the flavors were between the front and back of store. Then. They didn't have lids to cover them or a bag to put them in - so we literally covered each cup with another cup and put in a box I had from Costco in my trunk to get them home without dripping everywhere in my car. And I say dripping everywhere bc by the time he finished the last cup/. The others were melted from taking so long. They should probably just stick to donuts if they can't fully support the ice cream products. If I knew now/ I wouldn't have chosen to try there for ice cream. Very unfortunate, bc we probably would have loved the ice cream - but the experience clearly trumped the product.
