We came in a little sauced late at night just craving something sweet (and savory), and they treated us so kindly from the second we walked in. The owner was SO sweet -- genuinely one of the nicest people ever. She had the warmest energy and made us feel so welcome, even though we were clearly in goofy late-night mode. On a hunt for a treat for a 13 year old birthday boy, my friend and I stopped at Doughboy Donuts & Bakery for 18 donuts. We were sharing with a team of hungry soccer players and these were a huge hit! Came across Doughboy Donuts & Bakery and honestly it's a hidden gem. It looks like it's just one older lady running the shop, which is wholesome and impressive. She knows exactly what she's doing. While we were there, a family tried pulling some shady nonsense. They claimed she withheld a coffee and tried to raise a storm up against her (it was a big group of people). We had just seen her hand out receipts to everyone ahead of us, so we knew it was nonsense. She stood her ground in a way that was calm, valid, and not defensive. Just in case though we stuck around to avoid escalation, because people really will try to bully small shop owners into free stuff. It was honestly sad to watch. Now about the donuts. Better than Seaside Donuts and I like Seaside. The plain glazed had actual layers of flavor, not just sugar on bread. The cookies were the kind that taste sweeter the longer you chew, not just a sugar bomb up front. And maybe because she noticed us backing her up, she surprised us with a couple of freebies. Doughboy is a must and there's nothing better than donuts and croissant sandwiches to get the day going. 3 dozen boxes, 10 cream puff balls, 5 mini eclairs, and 8 croissant breakfast sandwiches. They are super efficient, friendly, and the food is delicious. Their donuts definitely elevated and are quite gourmet. I'm so impressed! Love that when I come back to visit there are some things that never get old. Also love seeing family businesses in communities thrive like they do. This place has become nostalgic for me now.
