Have you ever shared your living space with a skunk? Let me tell you, it isn't fun. Skunks are only adorable from a distance. They are absolutely not adorable when they find their way into your crawl space. There really is nothing like waking up at 3 in the morning to your nose burning from skunk stink. What's even worse, is when you start looking into skunk removal. Granted, I understand that dealing with skunks must SUCK, and that should warrant a little extra cha-ching, but the prices I was quoted when I called around were way higher than I expected. But what can you do? Trust me, after a couple days of your home smelling like that, you start contemplating offering someone a kidney or possibly your first born child to get rid of it, and those prices suddenly become manageable. So I found Randy's Varmint Control on the Internet when I was calling around. I called and asked him what getting rid of the skunk would take. I spoke to Randy and he informed me of trapping and prices. I also asked if he relocated the animal. I mean come on, just because the little bugger stunk up the house, doesn't mean I want it whacked. He said that he relocates the animal which played a large factor in choosing him (a few of the places I called couldn't give me a straight answer on what would become of Pepe LePew after he was caught). Also, his price was one of the better ones. So Randy comes out, inspects the perimeter of the house to see exactly where the skunks were getting in and any other possible places where they could. He sets his traps and goes on his way. After a couple of days, I started getting a bit down because the skunk was clearly still around, but not going into the traps. But then, to my pleasant surprise, I woke to find the trap door closed and black and white fur poking out of the cage. Randy came, hauled him away and even patched up the hole where he had crawled under the house. Hooray! But wait... the next morning, we smell that familiar smell and check the entrance where they had gotten in before. Sure enough, it was open again. It seems Pepe LePew had a pal. Time to call Randy back. Without complaint, he came out and set another trap. Lucky for us, Pepe's pal didn't really hang out. After that, we stopped having skunk smells, and after another week's worth of trapping, still nothing. We called Randy again (poor guy probably was sick of us! :) ) and he got the traps and resealed the hole. No problems since. Hooray at last! All in all the skunks are gone. The house smells normal again. Randy was great to deal with- friendly and honest. If Pepe finds his way into YOUR house, call Randy. read more

Called him out to trap a possum that attacked my dog. He was here quickly and set two traps. He also pointed out several sites on my house where varmints could easily get under my house and in my attic. We didn't catch the possum, he must have moved on. We did catch two raccoons though. We let them go. He didn't charge me since he didn't catch the possum. Very nice guy. Nice to work with him. read more

I've had a skunk visiting my backyard for several weeks. Sprayed my dog and yet kept returning. Called Randy, he set traps, sealed some potential pest entry spots around the house, and came back to remove the skunk when trapped. Feels good to know Pepe won't be visiting again. We had a couple of raccoons in the attic of our workshop. Randy came and set traps for us. We caught the little guys and Randy came and got them. Easy! Wow! A few months back I had no idea who to call when I discovered a family of skunks were living under my house. Apparently, they broke through a loose screen that goes into the sub floor (?) and set up shop. I called pest control, they don't handle larger animals such as skunks, so I was directed to Randy. Randy was very communicative about the process of removal and upfront regarding his rates, which was a relief not being hassled or given some run around about costs. I called him around 9pm (sorry!), left a VM, and was called back first thing in the morning and traps were set within a couple hours of us speaking. He was able to remove the mother and the babies, and even repaired the broken screen. Very professional and kind man! It was worth the cost doing business with someone who is efficient and timely. Worst experience ever. I called a few places and didn't recieve a call back, so when I got in touch with this place I jumped. A rat died somewhere in our house, we were thinking it was the kitchen. The guy on the phone said the fee was $250 for dead rat REMOVAL. He came the morning of the appt, and looked around the outside of our house, then came in. I told him I thought it was somewhere in the walls of the kitchen. He agreed. So I helped him move the fridge out from the wall and he nearly crushed my fingers doing so. Then I helped him move the stove out. I kept sniffing around and opened the stove and said I think it's in here. He smelled around and once again agreed. So he went to work trying to take apart the stove. (Unsucessfully). After getting the top portion cracked enough to see in and saw lots of rat poop, he decided that the rat had indeed died in our stove somewhere. (He never found the actual rat.) I called my landlord and told her that we would need a new stove. He said "There's no point going any further with this, the rat is definitely in there." So he then wrote up the bill for $250 which I stupidly paid, and then he left. The stove was still in my kitchen. A few days later after stewing on this I called back and spoke to him. I told him I didn't think it was right to pay the "dead rat removal fee" when he didn't remove ANYTHING! I said that I don't mind paying a fee for him to come out and take a look, but he didn't find anything, and didn't remove anything. He gave me some bull about how when we replace the stove the people bringing the new one will take the old one... What exactly did I pay for then? I had to remove the stove!!! This guy is awful. He went on to say that owning a business and paying insurance, licensing fees etc etc adds up and that's what I'm essentially paying for. Really? I'm paying all your fees for a job that you did not do? Total SCAM! Find another company. This place will rip you off and not even pretend to rectify the situation. Randy was easy to communicate with, and up front about rates. For $450, he removes up to 2 animals. We had at least 1 skunk living under our house, getting in thru a broken grate. I saw 2 skunks in the backyard 4 nights ago. Yesterday Randy came and set up 2 traps outside the access point. He said that this is skunk mating season, but that the chances of more than 1 skunk living permanently under the house were remote. Multiple skunks are more common in April, because that's when they tend to have their babies. The morning after he set the traps out, we had a skunk in one of them. He came back that morning as promised in a timely fashioned and removed it. We had a carpenter standing by to come seal the hole, but... how to be certain there really were no more skunks? I posed the question to Randy. He said that there was almost no chance there was still a skunk under there, but to be absolutely sure - he went to his truck and brought back a flashlight and a dog. He sent the dog thru the hole, under the house. There was (fortunately) no encounter, and we can be certain now that the carpenter will seal up an empty space. I told Randy that was brave, since I've had a dog get sprayed by a skunk and know how challenging the aftermath is. He said, "That's my job, and her's." He also did a fair temp job of jamming up the hole until the carpenter can come tomorrow. Expert work, he made a difficult set of tasks look easy. Note: it's possible the traps will catch animals you don't want to catch, but the cost will be the same. There's an additional charge for animals above 2, so keep that in mind. read more
