Although the pest control company was wonderful about trapping and disposing the rats, we knew we had to stop them from entering the attic. Sentient pest A large population of sparrows decided to take up residence underneath my spanish tile roof. Drives me crazy to hear them screeching all day as they live rent free up there crapping all over. I put a call into Sentient to set up a consultation and estimate which come at no charge. Ralph performed a thorough inspection and devised a plan of action tailored to my specific situation. Without going into great detail, I will tell you it was no easy task. Very intricate time consuming work to block off all the access points. Two solid days of work and 2 garbage bags full of sparrow nests, the job was complete. I know there are no guarantees when dealing with nature and I fully expect to need a follow up in the coming months to see if these pests found a way to take up residence again. But for now we're good. I like supporting local small businesses whenever I can. OMG! I can't even tell you how amazing these guys are! I have been in total freak out mode-our attic had been invaded! Again! We had something living in the attic a few years ago, determined it to be squirrels and they ultimately moved out on their own. Someone told me at that time that this happens and that I should probably figure out where they're coming in. But I kinda forgot about it. Then 2020 came. And of course I'm home all day. And we are hearing the sounds all over the house and it's getting louder. We needed a professional.. I read about Sentient Exclusion on Yelp after calling a traditional exterminator and being under impressed with what they wanted to do. Plain and simple, if you have rats, bats, squirrels, raccoons, birds... Hire a specialist. That's what these guys are. You don't want an exterminator that is going to simply poison them. They aren't insects. You need someone that understands animals and their habits. My call was answered by Serena. She was very helpful and professional, and scheduled me right away. Ralph came and did a very very thorough assessment of my house. He looked all around the foundation, the garage, the attic, the roof, the chimney, grounds, everywhere. He then gave me an assessment and plan. My husband first thought we could handle it ourselves and try putting a bunch of traps in the attic. It didn't matter what kind of trap or what kind of food, nothing was biting. One of the things Ralph told us was that if they have an easy entry and exit from your attic, they won't eat your food and wont get trapped. They will go out and come back in. He said that once they seal up the whole house, they will get hungry and they will go for the traps. Chris came a couple of days ago and did the work. He spent a long time and was very thorough. And once again he told me the same thing that Ralph said. They would start being interested in our traps when they couldn't get out. BINGO! Omg! Last night in the middle of the night... there arose such a clatter and it wasn't Saint Nicholas! It was our traps! The Beast went to his grave this morning along with his partner in crime. Hopefully, that's it. Probably not...We will keep checking the traps, but I am pretty confident that within a couple of days anything that was alive up there no longer will be. Ralph answered my frantic call after our HVAC installers found rat droppings in our attic. He came out within the hour and did an entire assessment of the exterior of our home and interior of the attic to determine where those little pests were coming in. He showed us photos of the areas and explained what he could do to solve the issue from happening again. He also told us to buy rat traps and set them out with a variety of bait options for a week to ensure that we trapped any remaining rats before he started to seal up the compromised areas. I've had Sentient perform exclusion on two homes I've lived in and have always been so impressed by their attention to detail and craftsmanship. They've noticed entry points that rodents were entering I would have never noticed. I've also had them pigeon proof our solar panels and the the netting looks really nice and blends in with the roof and panels. The best thing I can say was during the pigeon proofing they found some glued/cracked roof tiles our home builder tried to cover up. We had a couple spares that Sentient cut and installed for us. Not a lot of tradesman have that kind of integrity to pause the job and show the homeowner problems on the roof unrelated to the job. Can't sing their praises enough. Without a doubt, exceeded my expectations. I live in Suisun City, I was experiencing a severe rat issue throughout 2020/2021. I called multiple places hoping to eradicate this pest, all quotes provided said they would solve the problem with a bill 2x what Ralph quoted. The kicker, none of these quotes identified the actual problem: the rats were crawling in from under the house! Every other inspector, but Sentient, said they were getting in through spaces in the attic. In addition, these other businesses were adamant on up selling me to replace all of my insulation, stating, "the insulation poses as a severe health hazard due to rodent droppings". This was the only company that took care of my bat problem. If you live in Suisun, you have bats. I called 4 companies prior to Sentient. Company 1- didn't do bat exclusion, just " regular" pest control. Company 2- gave me a crazy high quote to put up a one way vent. No other exclusion work. Company 3- wanted to seal off entry points without getting rid of the bats first. Company 4- phone tag galore. I called Sentient and was able to speak to Sirena right away. These guys are just the best. I wasted money on a different company first. This slovenly guy showed up and told me there was no real solution other than poisoning the pests and letting them rot in my attic..."but that's a smell you'll never forget" he told me. uuuummmmm. what??? Then he told me he was too old to be crawling around in attics checking bait traps and so he wasn't going to do that, but he still took $60 for this "inspection." For this reason it took me a really long time to finally contact Ralph. I did SO MUCH research. We were ready to spend all the money or burn the house down. I actually found an amazing company but they wouldn't service my area. They told me the only guy who does it right in my neck of the woods (Yolo) is Ralph. I called him, told him all my problems. I think he was at my house the next day. He gave me a quote to seal up the house to keep pests out for good and a plan for how to get rid of the existing pests, which meant him and his partner Jay coming to my house several times a week to check the traps because I had a newborn baby and they didn't want to risk there being any smell. They were also amazingly silent while the baby was sleeping and just soooo thoughtful and hardworking. Just one little example, I had had workers come out earlier to do some work on my house and they broke the cap on my attic access. There was a chip in the corner and I expressed to Ralph my irrational but insanely gripping fear that the pests would come down through that hole. He said I didn't have to worry about it. At some point, and I have literally no idea when because they were this discreet and this good, they replaced the attic cap! They built me a new one out of wood and installed it. They didn't ask for any recompense for it!!!! Amazing. I could go on and on. They custom built some pieces that were needed to really secure my house. They were so careful to sweep up any dirt they brought in. They knew how scared I was and so they made sure I never had to see any of the remains. They were always here when they said they would be and they quoted me a price for the whole job and kept coming back and coming back until I was 1000% sure the job was done. He inspected around the house and in the attic (and while doing so he took extra care when in the house- using both boot covers and a canvas drop cloth under the ladder to catch debris that might have fallen from the attic.) I have recently hired on Sentient to help manage a recent pest issue in my parents home. Ralph and Jay provide the best customer service by far! I have contacted and worked with other local companies such as Terminix, Advanced IPM, and Clark...and Sentient has truly gone above and beyond! I am a mother of a toddler and also terrified of little critters/bugs. To keep it simple, I had a ton of questions and concerns. It got to the point where I'd call in almost every hour and Ralph (owner) literally memorized my number by heart. Instead of expressing how annoyed he was by my excessive calls, I felt that he knew my concerns and always put me at ease with all of his answers. We live next to open space which, unfortunately, sends a steady stream of rodents our way. Our tile roof is no match for them. We were getting more than a little fed up with our regular exterminator, who would just shrug each time we called him out. He recommended Sentient Pest Exclusion Services.
