Been coming to Ranger Firearms for years, ever since they opened. I even remember when the business before Ranger opened was a liquor store. Over the years I have bought accessories, firearms, had firearms transferred from online sales to me through them, used their kiosk to purchase and file for a suppressor, and I even used their gun-smithing service for a buffer tube replacement on an AR-15. I live in walking distance which makes going in a breeze and I see some of the staff in the neighborhood from time to time which is always welcome. Just today I entered in the morning right after they opened, was greeted by the friendly and personable staff, instructed as to the process for completing my firearm transfer, paid, and was out and on my way in 15 minutes. I was having my rifle appraised to sell to them. An employee with a lazy eye dropped my rifle on the floor. I should have made them buy it but I was so mad I left. I can't believe they have employees who have little to no regard to others guns. read more

Went into the store with my wife to get information on handguns. We are both seniors and novices. Having done extensive online research we had in mind what we wanted to look at. The owner, Ed, was the person who worked with us. He asked us questions which helped narrow down what he felt would work for us. He spent a lot of time showing us different options on guns and explained the benefits and downsides of each firearm. We never felt pressured or pushed to hurry a decision. When we decided to leave we indicated he had given us a lot of things to think about. He thanked us for coming in and said he hoped when we were ready to purchase we would come back. Given our positive experience we will definitely be back when we decide to make the purchase. read more

My husband was with me and the firearm was listed under MY name and sold to me and they wouldn't release it to me because they assumed it was for my husband rather than me just because it had the eagle from the mexican flag. I'm not too sure if it's because we look young and he thought we were just going to waste his time and not buy anything or if it was because we are Mexican and he's a RACIST. The guy was rude, making smart comments, short, had a judgmental face the WHOLE TIME, and etc. it was not until I pulled out cash and told them I wanted to buy that gun that his mood and costumer service changed. There was also an older gentleman there who seemed to have the same attitude when I asked how much were the stickers. The only person who was nice and friendly was a lady, who was the only person to check on me may I add. I should have not bought anything from that place and only did because we were already there. This place is a joke. Don't sell your guns here. I took in a S&W revolver that I already had appraised at $800 from another gun shop. When I went into the shop a young guy was working at the counter. Told him I wanted to sell this revolver and what would they give me. He got his boss (owner) but he never acknowledged me at all. He looked at the gun and walked away. I asked the kid what just happened and He told me the owner would give me $100. That was a slap in the face because I had already been offered $800. This place is the biggest ripoff I came with a buddy to figure out status on his suppressor, and no one had a clue so the manager came out and basically started yelling and basically told my buddy he was S O L even though my buddy has a receipt they called the police. I paid for a gun and then the federal approval was delayed. I was told to check back in a week. As I told the counterman when I was deciding on the gun it was for use the next two days at my ranch with a group of friends. About 3 hours after the application had been made I received a call from Ranger telling me the approval had been delayed. My reply was since I could not use it when I wanted to, just refund to the credit card. He told he could do that - but there is a $40 restocking charge. My response was to him: it never left your stock nor was the gun ever in my possession. His reply was - that is the policy. This is a total lack of customer service. I never even so much as touched the box or even inspected it. I told him Ranger Firearms had lost a customer and future sales. The store is 1 mile from my home. So convenient, but I'll never step inside it again. As far as selection - I wanted a .22 LR for plinking; the selection was poor. BTW - getting some one's attention to get some help was a bit frustrating. Go some where else and just cross this store from your list. Another insult is they charged sales tax on the bogus restocking fee. read more

This feels like a weird review, but I think it needs some background: I was in San Antonio the other day to look at a truck. I ended up not getting it, so I decided to buy a new pistol to feel better about it. Before anyone flips, I own a couple guns. I sold my pistol a while back and never got around to replacing it. This was as good a time as any. Here's where the digression comes into play. I rarely feel totally comfortable in gun stores. I grew up with firearms of all kinds, lived everywhere from suburbs to farms to beaches, and have a very healthy respect for these machines. I love to shoot at targets and clay pigeons. I love the discipline, focus, respect, and care that (is supposed to) come with shooting. The only reason I don't hunt is I don't like the taste of things you hunt for. Wild game tastes gamey. That's why the taste is named after the thing and you'll never convince me that any of it tastes good. If I could hunt cows, on the other hand, I'd be all over it even though I doubt there'd be much sport in it. I also firmly believe that a proper education in shooting can teach kids a whole lot about discipline, taking dangerous things seriously, focus, clearing your head, etc... Why is any of that important? Because it was only after I walked in that I remembered I was wearing a pair of very loud rainbow Pride shoes. See, my politics don't tend to mesh with those of the kind people most folks would picture as gun enthusiasts. I come from military/firefighters/EMS/police, I'm a veteran myself, but we're all about as "woke" as it gets (whatever that means). There are a lot of liberal gun owners, but not so many that you're going to find a bunch of hip, trendy, gun stores - in-between an artisanal mac & cheese pop-up and a store that only has one t-shirt but it costs $300,000. Most gun stores are about as welcoming and comfortable as a seeping rash to most of us. So, because of past experience, I was expecting to get some kind of hassle and probably leave empty-handed. If anyone noticed my shoes, they certainly didn't act on it. I didn't get so much as a sideways glance from anyone. The salesperson I dealt with (I can't remember his name but he was kind of stocky, 30s-ish, with a brown beard and I want people to know he's awesome) was super knowledgeable and went over and beyond with his customer service. For some people who might not know, guns are stupid expensive and there are a lot of manufacturers who aren't that good and well-respected ones who also sell trash. I like guns, but I'm not a "gun nut" (whatever that is), so I don't have a wealth of knowledge to ensure I'm making a very informed choice. That's another problem I've dealt with in the past. I'm the exact customer a sleaze bag sales person could could sell some very expensive bulls__t to. When I walked out of there, gun in hand (not literally), I felt totally confident in my purchase. I still do, a few days later, and I haven't even had a chance to shoot it yet. I was given all kinds of options; they listened attentively when I described my preferences in pistols, and what I thought I wanted; and explained the pros and cons of not just the pistols I was looking at, but also the LASER sights I was looking at. I spent a bit over a grand on the gun and the sight, and I don't have any reservations about it. These people are knowledgeable and supremely professional in how they treat their customers. I don't know anyone in San Antonio, and I was only there to look at a truck, so I can't really recommend them to anyone I actually know. I hope that leaving this review will serve the same purpose with everyone on Yelp. This is a place that is worth spending your money at. read more

You can spend a lot of coin in this store without even getting a gun. It's not a gun store like Dury's. It's an outdoorsman type store, where you can get all kinds of neat stuff for camping. I bought a flashlight there. I wish I had a picture of it to post here. The thing is kind of awesome, it almost shines through walls. First I'd like to mention that I've been in many firearm stores and have a lot of different experiences (some are my fault). Ranger firearms has great service and their employees are easy to talk to and have an above the normal attitude. Each person's experience may differ(a lot of it has to do with attitude and ego) coming through the door that's any gun shop honestly. Most guys working at these places are contractors, prior military (some being SOF operators so a customer coming in thinking they know everything can be irritating. I have done business 5 times in the past 3 weeks with them spending in upwards of 6k or more and regret nothing. I am a maritime contractor and need things for my job, sometimes I come straight here when I get back to the states and have a time limit and walk into here in a hurry with a list of items I need. I'm always greeted and treated well and the staff assist me with everything. I've even had conversations with most of them like I've known them for a long time (that's how welcoming and rad these guys are) and leave with a better attitude than I came in with. Out of all the items I needed they have only not had 1 thing and in a split second they hopped on the computer and said they would order it. For most that think these guys work on commission THEY DO NOT, I have ceased all business I do with other shops and have dedicated my time and money only to Ranger firearms. P.s. I have also heard/seen people try to bring in firearms that they think is worth a certain amount, although it may be special to you or what you bought it for that's just that WHAT YOUR OPINION IS. unless it's a well known or top shelf firearm(also in high demand) it's worth little. They have to make a profit off what they buy it from you for plus they have to see what it's actually worth. I bought a diamond back ar 556 pistol from them a few months a go and I called them and told them that the lower receiver was dimpled and they told me they could replace it thru the manufacturer and I didn't know that was poassible so I am Very Happy about that !!! These people price gouge. $22 for a box of 20 rounds for 5.56 and $38 for a box of 50 in 9mm. That's trash. I understand the inverse relationship between demand and supply. I understand current events. But that is not good business. People need these items. Friendliest part about this establishment is the dog that greets you when you walk in. Other than that, staff wasn't very interested in a new customer that had never been in there before. I was one of two customers in the store and there were At least four staff standing around having a conversation about ammunition. Not one of them could take their time to even say hello or acknowledge that I existed, not to mention ask if I needed help? If I want to be ignored, I'll go to Bass Pro and at least have a larger selection to look at. It sure is hard to support local business when the local business won't support you.... read more

Heard about ranger and decided to go check it out, was impressed with selection and knowledge of staff first of all, "Ace" helped my wife out with all here questions and she has alot ,he was having fun with us as we were joking back and forth,it was a great experience,most gun places the people behind the counter arent exactly eager to pull all kinds of pistols out over and over,but ace was not even bothered, in fact the opposite he was pulling and showing us all on his own,VERY COOL!! she decided on a pistol we did the paperwork and went home with her new walther pk380. Outstanding service, competitive pricing, quality parts, great selection of firearms, parts and accessories. I went there for some basic gun smithing on 2 of my Firearms and ended up purchasing a bunch of parts. Edit: I initially had a good experience with the Manager at Ranger Firearms. The reason for my edit on this review from 5 stars to 1 star is due to their lack of accountability and integrity of service. I initially walked into the shop looking for a Muzzle Brake which would attach to a Silencer Co MAAD mount (planed to purchase at a later date), then attach the MAAD Mount to a Liberty H.A.T.E. Ring, and then attach that whole system to my Liberty Mystic X. I had thought this was a well thought out plan but the Manager at Ranger wanted to confirm this would all work. We ended up spending some time on Liberty's website to confirm it would work. Then he went to the wall, grabbed 2 Muzzle Brakes and what I thought at the time was the ASR MAAD mount. I asked him multiple times ensuring this would all work and that I was purchasing the ASR MAAD mount. The manager confirmed that this was the part I required. Fast forward to 4 months later, as I am awaiting the Form 4 Approval, I had purchased the Liberty H.A.T.E. ring and was attempting to attach the parts in preparation for my Suppressor and to my chagrin I realize the parts do not attach as he did not sell me the ASR MAAD mount but had sold me the ASR Omega Mount which is not the same part. I reached out to the Manager today to see if they could correct the Error, but the Manager informed me I'd be better off selling the part than going through them. Now I may be out $165 due to poor customer service. Do not purchase from this shop and I will be telling all of my military friends in the area to avoid this shop as well. A reputable company would have provided a refund. read more

I cannot recommend them. When I arrived I was pleasantly greeted and directed to the appropriate section of the store, and that was the last time the staff acknowledge me. I stood there for at least 15 minutes listening to the gentlemen behind the counter chat with another customer. When they were done, the staff walked into the back room, and never returned. I'm sure they will make sufficient profit selling ammunition to men who discharge firearms into their ceilings, as apparently does the store staff, but I will buy my firearm elsewhere. read more
