I understand if they have to much inventory but that would help with that issue. They could be more selective as to which guns they accept on consignment as well. Hopefully they will start accepting consignments again soon.

Minor work sometimes can be done while you wait and more elaborate stuff may take overnight. The other great thing is they have LAY-AWAY, I used it before, for a shotgun I wanted, but didn't really care to have it right away. It worked out great, I made a few payments here and there, then bam, I was at the shooting range. The prices are pretty good, but what makes them special, is that they offer guns that you won't find at Academy or most commercial gun stores, i.e. AK-47, AK- pistol, SKS style shotguns, etc... So, if you are looking for stuff that you can find at Academy, you'd save a few more dollars for those types of guns at Acadmey since they buy in bulk, but if you can't afford to buy the gun outright then go to Powder Horn and put it on lay away or start saving.

Im not an expert and I wouldn't even claim novice. I'm not a stranger to guns but I've never had to shoot one either (the BB gun I had as a kid is the exception). The service staff was great and informing me what gun to practice with. They really took their time explaining. I settled on a 45. The birthday girl was already inside getting a private lesson but she'd been the day before and bought a 22. Another sorority sister gave me a lot of tips so by the time the attendant came to walk me through, I was ready. I started with the 22 and that felt good. I did quite a few practice rounds with that one. I decided to try a small purple gun my sis brought with her. I had to! It was purple! The power from that gun was mightier than its size. I was blown away! So yeah, I went back to the 22 lol. I really enjoyed the day and was glad to celebrate with her but now I have a new interest. I priced the guns, I have no way of knowing whether I'm getting a good deal or not. I decided to have a talk with my cousin to see what he thinks and purchase later. If you've never been, just know the fees add up. You need ear protection & eye protection and they have it available for purchase. If you wear glasses, they count as eye protection. It's crazy loud, I used the ear plugs and the over the ear muffs. And of course there are fees to rent a gun (if you don't bring your own) and for use of the range.

Just buy ammo and go somewhere else to many rules and bad customer service never againread more

We enjoyed the metal targets at the pistol range and not having to constantly pause shooting for the whole range to change targets. The staff were beyond helpful, very friendly, informative and willing to give pointers and suggestions. I wish we lived closer to a facility like this. I've had good experiences with SOLGW gear, so when they dropped the Frogskin edition, it grabbed my attention right away. Same SOLGW quality, just with a unique finish that actually looks good instead of being over the top. I'm actually driving from Austin down to San Antonio just to pick it up in person and check out the shop, because this is a rifle I plan on making my main one. The look is a bonus, but the main reason I bought it is the reputation: properly built, reliable, and meant to be shot. These are just my early thoughts based on the specs and what I know about SOLGW. Once I get it, zero it, and put some rounds through it, I'll come back and update this with how it shoots and holds up.

I REALLY wanted to like this company. They are in Texas, huge 2A supporters and seem to put out a…read moredecent product (per online reviews). Unfortunately, orders I've placed directly through them for "In stock" items either never ship or are extremely delayed. I've placed orders direct three times. One of those was for an "in stock" lower that took close to a month to arrive at my local FFL (from San Antonio to Austin). I won't even begin on the poor quality of the finish on the lower. Oh, and don't write a negative review for anything on their site because they won't post it...FYI. Twice, I've cancelled other orders after almost a month of emailing and asking for an order status and 3 plus days go by before I'll get someone who tells me "order is ready, just waiting on shims, so you'll have it next week" and someone else who replies "we are doing our best to keep up with orders" but no status. How about some communication to the customer to say an item is missing from an "In stock" order or just email or call to say "sorry for the delay"...anything. But instead, no communication or attempts and after almost a month on my most recent order, so I cancelled and I will not return to SOLGW for anything. If customer service is this way just to get an item, imagine how poorly things will go if you have an actual issue or a return, etc. Really wish things had gone differently, but a hard pass on poor customer service so I'll stick with another brand.
