Older dude that could pass as your nerdy techy friend who's probably collected every tech gadget since the original Tron came out. Told him what I was looking for but I gradually got discouraged as all he was showing me were the bigger style bigger sound units that are common for home systems. But, alas! With a little patience we revealed a new treasure: smaller desk top speakers! Minor speaker mesh stains on the front but super decent with a little TLC. He was super friendly and chill, even making an effort to find parts that could potentially be missing from this set (like compatible power cord). It also came with an amp box that I've got sitting below my desk table, which was a nice surprise (I keep it plugged in for the deeper sounds or just unplugged for more "regular(?)" crispy audio). All that for a really awesome deal; I think it was something like $15-30 or something crazy like that. Good shit, dude! Thank you. If you're looking for small speakers, I probably snagged the last set but I definitely recommend this place for any help with acheiving 2 things at once: reusing/upcycling any sort of old working electronics and supporting a damn good local friendly small business.

When working with technology things can be unpredictable. Expecting to hook up all this stuff flip a switch and it magically works perfectly is crazy. They've solved every problem eventually. And the "never give up" attitude is what I value more than speed. They will tell you that they are doing work for huge companies and individuals and you are lucky to have them. Unfortunately for us, we believed them. First, they gave us a timeframe for installation which ended up being much later than they promised which caused us not to have our system in place for a party. Second, the wireless network that they set up had lots of holes in it. Their sales pitch promised that it would be flawless and if it wasn't, there would be no cost to us for making it right. It took them weeks to come out and analyze it and we had to threaten them to get them to show up. Finally they did.They tried to charge us a few thousand dollars more when it didn't work and blamed the house set up for the problem. The truth is they never came out and checked out how our house was set up and as a result, The system didn't work. They did put in more equipment to make it right and then tried to charge us for it. Eventually they wrote it off. But it was a fight every step of the way and the representations they made to us when we bought the system were simply over exaggerated. Third, we bought this service contract where they represented that they would be able to fix any problem that arose within a day. That simply was false. Today, we have not had I our system working for a few days and after they screwed around with it for a while over the Internet, said that they would not be able to get to it until next week. When we reported the representations that they made, they simply said we'll try, but we only have two technicians. If you are reading this note they only have two technicians that can solve problems. And now we are without our system for another week because they can't fix it. In short, these people overpromise and under deliver and overcharge also. Don't go near them. You are forewarned.

They carry new gear at all price ranges, as well as doing repairs and selling a fantastic variety of used audio. In my experience, high quality hifi gear tends to be bought by people who take good care of it, and makes for excellent purchase opportunities when the original owner decides to upgrade. Whether I need something or not, looking at both the new and the used gear at Fred's is always fun.
