CASH ONLY! ATM on site with $3 fee. We're still relatively new to the area and wanted to try something we haven't tried yet. I was craving fried fish. My wife was craving a gyro. We independently searched on our phones and both simultaneously said "Raptis"? So be it! The place is rather small and falls solidly into the diner category. It was a pleasantly fresh modern decor. The menu was somewhat limited compared to most diners and family restaurants but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Many places simply offer way too many options. Raptis seems to have found it's winning dishes and stick to them. The service was prompt and pleasant. I ordered the fried fish (cod) and my wife ordered the gyro. Surprised? Nope, it was exactly what we were craving. Now, I am accustomed to primarily haddock, tilapia or grouper for fried fish. I've had cod before but it's not my preference. Just seems to be the go-to fish around here. Well, Raptis proved to me that fried cod can be just as good as haddock or tilapia. Sorry, grouper is in a class of it own. Good portion, perfectly breaded and fried. My wife started raving as soon as the plate was dropped and didn't stop until her last bite. "The best gyro in my life!" Wow! That's quite the statement. I live like a block away from Raptis and am aware it's a busy place- the skinny by and large is "large portions, cheap prices". Popular with the older set and does a pretty bangin' breakfast crowd. HOWEVER........there's times when it's not just price and portion, but the food itself. OK, that mentioned, I stopped in on a Thursay morning with my sis (her insistence, as my mind keeps saying "truck stop type food", but I relented). OK, Western omelette, hash browns (with onions and peppers). Omelette was overcooked, with some Velveeta-esque concotion standing in for cheese. Potatoes actually had more onions and peppers than potatoes, and the whole affair was mushy with no seasoning. I pushed things around with my fork and basically just had coffee (good) and chatted. The waitress (Tonya) was excellent, and she noticed I'd not eaten, asked if I needed a box. Hahahah, I told her "it was the worst breakfast I'd had in 10 years", but I was very nice about it. She was great, asked if I wanted something else, apologetic, checking all the boxes- fault not hers, she was primo and we left her a $10 tip. They did take mine off the check, kudos for that. So....end of the day, sometimes your hunches are right. Folks can keep on patronizing this joint cuz its cheap but I'll pay more and "get what I pay for" (and speaking of cheap, hey, get away from the "Cash Only" policy and start taking CC's, dang, it's 2021, i believe Visa charges businesses 1.6% and MC 1.9%...I may be off, but the point remains. and don't tell me to go out in the entry way and use the ATM. smh) read more

This review is based on the hostess alone. We were treated so badly before we were even seated. We left without trying the food. There was s short, brunette working the hostess station. They were not overly busy. Though I have never understood why people use that as an excuse to treat patrons poorly. Isn't busy what you strive for? We were first in line to be seated. I listened to her be very short with someone trying to place a carry out order. I guess she doesn't care that not long ago carry out orders were what kept this and many other places in business. An elderly gentleman came in to pick up a to go order. I had him step in from of me. I had seen him in the parking lot and knew that his disabled wife was waiting in the car. The woman could not have been more rude to him. Then it was time to seat us. She screamed at me "how many". Before I had a chance to answer. She screamed at me again "two?" In the meantime a group had come in with an elderly lady who seemed a bit unstable on her feet. I asked the hostess to seat them first. She rolled her eyes at me and was so visibly angry that the group was afraid to bother her with going first. The poor older lady said "no, it's ok". The hostess then screamed at me again "table or booth?". Again before I can answer. I mean in a matter of a second. She screams again "table or booth". I decided I didn't care to pay to eat at a place where the front facing person felt the guests should be treated in this face. I told her "no, I'm leaving. I don't appreciate this attitude ". While walking to my car. The elderly gentleman with the carry out order stopped me to tell me. "This is a nice place. Everyone is nice. She is the only one who talks to people that way." My wife's: the toast not toasted and loaded with fake butter, home fries old, cold, & grease-soaked, sausage burned black, orange juice from concentrate, coffee so weak it may as well be hot water. NASTY!! Mine: a breakfast sandwich - toasted bagel not toasted, cheese whiz instead of cheese, sausage burned & charred, egg? what egg; missing. NASTY!!! We pointed out the substandard garbage food to the waitress and she simply looked away. We both left sick to our stomachs. Our first visit last month was no better but we hoped they were just having a bad day. No... at Raptis every day is a bad one. NEVER AGAIN. BTW, the average age of people eating in this crap hole was at least 90; poor senior citizens too old to see the trash food and too feeble to know what was served. This restaurant is amazing. First off our waitress joann was so attentive and funny had us laughing the hole time. The house made Greek dressing is so good perfect balance of herbs and vinegar. Typical diner breakfast options, but made well and with large portions. Bacon is deep fried though. Gyros are HUGE! and delicious get extra tzatkiki sauce you will need it. I will never ever eat at Raptis again. I just had dinner and it was fine. In the last drink I was brought, I drank half and noticed a big glob of white goo on the inside of the cup. I naturally said how disgusted I was and the waitress took it away. She showed the manager and they offered to take the drinks off the tab for the table. Not comp my whole $31 check, just the drinks. Then I make a comment I'm glad you comped $6 in drinks. And she said "it was actually $7.28". And I said that's unbelievable but I assure you I won't be back. My husband is a connoisseur of fine sausage gravy over biscuits. Raptis serves the finest with absolutely no one coming in even close for second. Service is excellent and consistent. Good local eatery with large portions and good prices. The staff is very friendly and conversational with quick service bringing your order out. I usually come here for breakfast and their Western Omelet (3 eggs, peppers & onions, ham, and add cheese) with toast and potatoes, which is pretty filling.
