I made a reservation online for a gel mani and a spa pedi (paid deposit of $25 for each service). I booked the night before my appt and there were a lot of times available. I chose to have my service with whoever was available and was assigned to Rosa. I arrived exactly on time for my appt. I told them I was here for my appointment and was gestured towards one of the pedi stations. I peeked at the name tag of the woman at the station and it was Rosa. She had me choose which pack I wanted to use for the spa pedi then she went through a multi-step process. I wasnt counting but it felt like at least 5 steps. She set a 5 min timer for a foot massage and kept going a little bit after the timer went off. This was honestly the best pedicure I've had anywhere. A lot of places do a quick brush of the foot but Rosa really brushed my feet. Afterwards she painted my toenails really quickly. They look great and are still going strong. I browsed pinterest to decide what I wanted my nails to look like (I had been looking while getting my pedi too). Rosa started browsing pinterest on her phone too and suggested styles to me. Rosa was really patient, i never felt rushed. I think she had another appt soon after me but i didn't feel like she rushed through doing my nails. She checked that i liked the snowflake on each hand before we cured it. We took the inspiration from Rosa's nails. I took a picture of both of our nails together at the end! The edges of my mani started lifting at the one week mark. I could feel them catch on my clothes. Its been a week and a half now and almost every nail is lifting. Some of the edges that lifted have come off. Not ideal. But the day I had them done, I did have my hands in and out of water for around 2 hours. On some of my nails you can see the stroke marks of the metallic purple and where it tapers off at the edge of my nail isn't consistent from nail to nail. Overall I liked my experience and would come back. I wonder if they'll last longer next time. If my next gel mani starts lifting at the one week mark again I'll have to consider going elsewhere. read more

Its difficult to find a nail place in New York because people have all kinds of different experiences and there are so many to choose from. However, I got really lucky and finally found my new nail place! I was impressed by their work on Instagram and decided to give this place I try - happy I did! I got a full acrylic set + pedicure and I'm happy with both. Amazing attention to detail, great service, and a great price for the quality. Raquelle is both so personable and talented in perfecting her art of doing nails. I love that the sky is the limit on terms of what you want for nails because they can do any shape or design! I appreciated how clean and detailed they are when it comes to shape and color of nails. I wanted a classy, professional, pink oval nail and I got exactly that. I'm obsessed! Unfortunately I've stopped going here because my last appointment, I paid for a spa pedicure and essentially received a polish change and that's it. I asked the receptionist if the service had changed and she didn't know. I emailed the address on their website and didn't hear back. Oh well--there are other options in the area that do a complete spa pedicure, but what I received was definitely not what I paid for. read more

Great experience! My nail tech was so sweet. Heard of this place through TikTok and was searching for a new nail place to try. They have a wide color selection and once I saw this sea foam color, I just had to do it. My friend got gel design and she was pleased with her nails as well. Pricing is pretty good - won't break the bank. Would recommend. They seem super busy though so maybe call ahead or make an appointment!! read more

Five stars for DO NOT go here!!!! They are highly overpriced ($135) for a gel X set NO DESIGN. They will charge you up the whoo haaa for every little thing! I came out paying $180 and my nails looked like Lee Press on Nails. Never even got a compliment! I paid way less, a better job was done and my nails were looked way better. I don't see what the hype is about aside from greedy for money.... the prices just don't add up. read more

I booked a regular mani/pedi through their website. Just google Raquelle Nail Bar and it comes right up. They do take walk-ins but I didn't want to run the risk of being turned away so that is why I booked an appointment. You will have to put a deposit down. I wanted to try them as they are local to where I live now. When booking I did note in "notes" I wanted the "regular manicure" to be a french manicure as I know many are well versed in designs, based on pictures and reviews. But I didn't see it as an option to select such a service, though is a common one offered, so I took a chance with notes. Would recommend for you to add this as an option to your services. I do get gel typically for my nails in the past but wanted to test this place with a regular mani-pedi first. My technician was Rosa. The first impression: * It's a typical nail salon. Nothing too fancy nothing too worn down. * Appointment if you can, even for a regular appointment. (Is required for acrylics) It is a very small place and the drying section only had one seat to move me off a station. From what I could see it could be a max of 2 people off a station to make room. * The fumes are strong upon entering. This is an acrylic first place so I understand they use a lot more acetone than a normal salon but by the end of my time there I was feeling a bit light-headed. * The Pedi station is a bit smaller than what I am used to, the basin was fine but they use a slat to put your feet on which can shift if you aren't lightly placing your feet. Not an issue for me, but I could see my mom shoving it right off by accident. The nails: * Rosa is a very sweet and quiet technician. A bit rough on the cuticle cutting and did cut me 2 times but she did seem to know right away how to tend to it. * She seemed confused when I mentioned a french style manicure, appears maybe she wasn't given the note? Even though she knew my name when I entered. As a manager in service for over 7 years, I always ensured my employees knew their clients coming in and any special requests. Thankfully Rosa is very sweet and in the end, it all worked out after a little bit of a dance. In Conclusion It is a neighborhood vibe place. What I mean by this is it seemed the group of ladies in there with Raquel were regulars and were all talking quite loudly but enjoying each other's company. I personally didn't mind, but if you are looking for a quieter, everyone in their own zone atmosphere, this might not be the place for you. I may come back to try a gel mani the next time as I would love to see how they do on designs. In total, I spent $50 for the mani/pedi using a credit card. Not including tip. read more

I honestly had a great experience at Raquelle's, the workers weren't necessarily cheery or friendly but I don't really need them to be to have a good experience. I had my appointment less than a week ago and was initally super excited about my nails (i just got a gel manicure) however since them the gel has started to split? I am torn regarding this review. I honestly, truly do not want you to find out about this place to mess up my little oasis of nail perfection. It is a small location with a solid set of ladies that do an amazing job with high quality products. I have always been paired with Eugenia, not sure if that is on purpose or random. She is a gem so it really has not been a problem for me. I would recommend that you opt to frequent Raquelle's with some time on your schedule because they aim for perfection and that takes time. I typically get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. My gel manicure has lasted about three weeks on average. The pedicures are the best and also last a while. Highly hygienic and spotlessly clean, this place fits the bill with standard prices (gel manicure and regular pedicure run about $55). There is a slight charge for using your credit card, and there is a $5 removal fee if you go in with your old gel still on. This is absolutely on my rotation, even if not on the most well traveled road! read more

CAUTION THEY DONT SUPPORT SINGLE MOTHERS AND CHILDREN. I made an appointment and had a family emergency (my gma was in the hospital) so I had no one to watch my newborn and I wanted to reschedule not even cancel. Was told that unfortunately there was nothing they can do for me. They kept my deposit and money for nail removal (70 dollars) when I received (0) services. I'm a single mother and they have a no kid in the salon policy. Seems highly unfair. As this is my one thing I like to do for myself as a mom. Not to mention last time I went the woman who did my nails (Yuliana) was extremely unprofessional. She said in Spanish to the girl next to her that is smelled like ass in the salon and when she realized I understood her she then apologized. She spent a good amount of time talking to the other worker not really focusing on my nails. (Still didn't complain) I didn't complain at the time because I liked the outcome of my nails even though she didn't follow the picture exactly and the gel she used to adhere my nails was super cakey. Staff has been getting increasingly ruder. Appointments are often late. My technician today told me I couldn't have a color on my nails today because they couldn't do that color on acrylics. The woman next to me then literally got the color I requested on acrylics. Not worth the treatment for the price. read more

Ugh. I wasted $59. I was supposed to receive a "Spa Pedicure". It was unlike any spa pedicure I've ever had before. My nail tech didn't seem to know what she was doing. The tools used weren't sanitized. I had to ask her not to use the cuticle cutters - she nipped me once & I definitely don't want an infection. The toe spacers that were used for the pedicure kept slipping and smeared the polish that she just put on. Instead of wiping it clean and starting again, she just added on top of it. The result was clumpy looking polish. To top it off, the place isn't as clean as I expected. I won't come back. I'm sure there are cleaner places nearby. read more

When I made an appointment for French nails I was told it was considered a regular manicure, but when I arrived I was told it was only available for gel manicures-- upping the price. The manicure chairs were uncomfortable and too low, the pedicure stations were completely inadequate--no soaking tubs with wide rims for placing feet while scrubbed and polished (instead thin, unsteady wooden stools), and terribly hard chairs. I had wanted to pamper my friend whose son was getting married a few days later, but the staff was unfriendly, the atmosphere sterile, and I was physically uncomfortable during both services. Plus the gel manicure began chipping 3 days later, not even make it to the wedding. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I went to Raquelle's last week after a friend recommended I go there. I can honestly say I've never had a better experience getting my nails done. The vibe when you walk in is great and you feel really welcomed. I had my nails done by Azheln, who did an amazing job and was super nice. I initially messed up my booking, requesting gels instead of builder, but she agreed to do my nails how I wanted them anyway, even though this meant taking up more of her time. I normally hate the process of getting my nails done, but the cuticle prep was incredible and painless - my nails have never looked better! The first time to this salon was great - loved my nails. The second experience (today) was the opposite. I booked the online appointment which was paid in FULL for a gel removal and gel manicure. Went here to get a gel manicure. I was hoping to get a few rhinestones but they said they couldn't do it. I'm not sure why. This was pretty disappointing since there are a decent amount of photos on the site with rhinestones. Maybe I should have been more clear when I booked the appt but I just wanted rhinestones on 2 nails so it doesn't seem like it would take that long. The manicure itself was nice but nothing special. I've never been a constant nail salon goer until Raquelle. She always does such an amazing Job. My nails have never been healthier. I mainly do acrylic on my own nail with gel polish and it last about 4 to 5 weeks. I truly enjoy my time there its like we've been friends for years. The salon has a homie vibe and everyone is very friendly. An appointment is always best. Monica does the best pedicures. Price are amazing for the upper west side. Love that the nail polishes are of great quality. Most nail salons water their gel down and it shows. This place is a true Gem. read more

So my nails look fantastic. No complaints there. But the service? Absolutely lacking. No customer service. It's so difficult to find a real nail salon where both service and ability are evident. Not sure I'll return here. It's a shame because I like the outcome of my nails, but I don't think I want to forgo customer service. I asked nail tech if she had change to give her the tip. My bill was over the customary 20% - she responded with a tone and said she didn't - I let it go. As my nails dried, I asked a person who seems to be the manager if I could go, if she thought my nails were dry. She didn't respond to me, she yelled for my tech who was MIA to come "respond to your client". Again, service matters. read more

Be cautious and 100% sure about spending your money here when you book an appointment. Apptsare REQUIRED for some services like acrylics. You are guaranteeing your deposit with 0% opportunity for any refund.. regardless of the window in which a cancelation is made. I accidentally booked a 7/8 appt for what I thought I was booking a 7/1 appt. Upon calling less than 24hrs after booking, I was told that I could not receive my deposit under any circumstance. I understand many services work under deposit systems, but typically allow refunds within a 48 to 72hr window before the appt. I live so close but will not be booking appts here in the future. It's unfortunate because I actually liked my services here in the past. Update to owners comment: Appreciate the response. Policies are not permanent.. a suggestion to consider updating policies that allow your current customers more flexibility and attract future customers. Your business :) read more

One of the worst and most stressful nail experiences of my life. I made an appointment for a mani pedi over the phone. When I came in, they told me that someone else had booked a slot online so they only had time for either my mani or my medi and I had to decide, even though I called first. I protested and they finally agreed. They were speaking about me in Spanish as though I didn't understand (which I did). I had asked on the phone if they did chrome manicures, which they said yes to. However, the manicurist was telling the woman next to her in Spanish how she'd never done this before. My nails were filed down so much that they broke a day later. I was also bleeding in the chair and no one cared. Additionally, I was told it was 20 dollars for chrome and then when I went to pay I was told it was 30. I am not an argumentative person and I rarely write bad reviews. They refused to refund me and did not even offer to fix it. Worst experience and way overpriced. I came upon Raquelle via IG - saw a lot of nice design work so thought I'd check them out for my yearly acrylic nail lengthening when I get bored of my nails lol I booked in advance online (there's no option online to note you'd like designs) - system was easy and sent reminders. $25 deposit was needed (goes towards your service) . Upon arrival they asked me to wash my hands, but no temperature check. My service was booked with Raquelle but as she started my service she switched to someone else. She did not have a mask on and said she was feeling dizzy. Taylor did my nails - (had her mask the whole service) she was super detailed, asked what I thought across each step and worked with the design style I wanted. Overall I would be back but they should adhere more strictly to the Covid Guidelines. read more

This is honestly one of the best nails salons I've been to. I always go to Raquel for nails and she always delivers the most beautiful set! They last a long time, and the Polish doesn't chip. I had someone do my pedicure for my birthday yesterday and I almost fell asleep during the massage. She was also so gentle, I didn't even realize she was pushing my cuticles back. Been coming here over a year and although I've moved to Brooklyn, I still commute an hour to get my nails done here! Always feel welcomed and my nails are always on point. Called around 1pm this Friday and the lady on the phone said I could come in at 2pm for a pedi. The place was pretty empty when I arrived and I was asked to pick a color and sit in a chair. The chairs are comfy, though they don't give massages of any kind. The place is also very clean and they used new tools for every customer. I didn't catch the name of the woman doing my nails but she was pretty thorough. I would have liked for her to spend more time on my cuticles and maybe massaging but that's pretty minor. I did end up messing up my big toe when I stuck my foot in the dryer and she stopped her next customer to fix my nail quickly. Not too bad for the price either ($25 for the regular manicure). Just came here post lockdown (they just opened Monday and I went Tuesday) and had a super pleasant experience! Haven't gotten a dip in so long and my nails look so good. It feels so nice to have them done again. She even did a custom color for me to get my perfect pink which was bottom layer white and top two layers pink. She listened exactly how I wanted them shaped and did such a good job filing. Tools were clean and I got my temperature checked once I arrived and there was plenty of hand sanitizer and they made me wash my hands twice and everyone was wearing masks (not chin guards) which made me feel comfortable. Welcome to Raquelle Nail Bar! We offer a wide variety of services for our clients who come from all over New York to experience our salon. We provide manicures and pedicures with regular polish and gel polish (brands include OPI, Valentino, Essie, and more), Aprés Gel X full sets, acrylic full sets, spa pedicures, and eyebrow and lip waxing. We use an autoclave sterilizer and disposable file and buff for each client, and pride ourselves in a beautiful, clean salon space in the Upper West Side. We hope to see you soon!

History

Established in 2018.

In May of 2023, we moved to our new location on Columbus Ave between 108th and 109th. Our new spot is bigger and brighter, offering our clients an elevated experience.

I’m a licensed nail technician living in New Jersey and working in NYC. I’ve been in the neighborhood for the past 8 years. I was motivated to open Raquelle Nail Bar in this neighborhood due to the lack of a clean, affordable nail salon. I’m very passionate about my work and am always finding ways to perfect my craft.
