4+ I've been to another Rasputin's location before. This location is unique in that it's connected with a second hand clothing store as well (Anastasia's). I went with some family to look for records so my experience is more for the records side. The overall space is huge. I feel like it was at some point a big box retail store that was converted. The folks here are friendly and helpful and the selection and prices are great and are pretty much in line with market if not slightly lower. I ended up buying a couple of new records as they got some stock on Record Store Day here as well in addition to their usual huge inventory of used (and new) records. I even got to replace an old Rolling Stones live record that I loved (and at some point lost in my own collection). There's a big parking lot and it's fairly easy to find parking. This Rasputin's location is great. The place is HUGE. The complaint I have is DO NOT SELL YOUR CLOTHES HERE. You will get ripped off. I just sold 4-5 bags of clothes and they took about 90% of it for $30! Comes out to about 25 cents to $1.00 for each item. I understand that they need to make a profit but ripping people off is bad business. Clearly you wanted the clothes. She also said, they would take the items they didn't buy to donate it. Uhhh no. I ended up taking her measly $30 because I was tired of having it in my car. I should've just donated everything and I wouldn't feel taken advantage of. The variety of clothes, shoes and accessories is incredible. Currently all items* with yellow tags are HALF OFF! *excluding shoes When you're on a budget but you want to find some additions for your wardrobe, come here first. Save yourself hundreds of dollars by staying away from big box stores! The store is well organized with dozens of racks of clothes. Give yourself plenty of time to cruise the aisles. read more

This past year I've noticed a banner for Anastasia's Vintage Clothing under the Rasputin logo (I'm not exactly sure how long that portion has been around) and this was my first time going into the store. You would have to enter through Rasputin to get to Anastasia's and it's a pretty small location for second hand clothing store. At the front of the store are new non-second hand clothes, accessories, and jewelry. The rest of the store is a mix of "grandma" clothes, graphic tees, jackets (LOTS of jackets) and jeans. There aren't any basics here and the price of clothing is typically $10 and up. As for Rasputin, I've only explored the DVD section and the prices are very fair. I picked up 5 DVDs most under $4 and 1 DVD that was $21, but that was only because it was a newly released movie and unopened. read more

I feel completely taken advantage of. I brought in over a $1000 of clothing, shoes, and purses, all brand new. They gave me $40 dollars for everything. I'm a shy person so I took it but I deeply regret it. I feel completely robbed. I wish I could have my things back. Do not sell to these people!! read more

I love that we have an amazing store like Rasputin's in Pleasant Hill! We took our niece to peruse records; we called ahead to ask about certain artists album availability. They were extremely kind and generous and pulled the records for her for when we arrived! We were absolutely delighted that they share space with used clothing- our kids love vintage and we'll definitely bring them back. Lastly, I love the affordability of the really vintage big band, bluegrass, international, classical as well as show tune albums. It's an amazing space and more should go. If you have albums, CDs, dvds, clothes, exc they buy them there too - for cash or trade. But, read the other reviews on this as we don't have direct experience. The only thing that would make it better is if, like the Berkeley location, they had more new albums available. read more

I've found some unique, high quality vintage pieces here for reasonable prices. Think $14 for vintage 100% cotton jeans, a corset top that sells for $20 on Depop for $8, etc. In my opinion, the way to make the most of your experience here is to grab something you're willing to part with from your own closet, sell it for store credit and spend it immediately on some cute "New to you" stuff. If you come with your whole closet looking to get a bunch of cash out of it I think you'll be pretty disappointed. My current favorite place to shop at the moment. This store fills a huge void for music lovers in this part of the East Bay, and the staff goes out of their way to help. They continue to improve their selection. They have expanded their vinyl section and now sell books too. The clothing is more curated and organized than a thrift store, but priced similarly. It's also great that they still buy items like DVDs no one else would take. I question the expectation of people rating based on selling offers. If you have something truly valuable in great condition and want the best price for it, try selling it yourself online. read more

Be careful taking your kids here!!! Brought my younger cousins here only to find this very inappropriate section in the back. It's located about in the middle of the store all the way to the back. As you can see in the picture, this place covers the actual videos with a blue "used" paper. However, why must they put actual pictures of women in these videos on the big banner?? To clarify, my problem is not that these adult films are being sold, my problem is that they use the actual women in these videos on the banner. Not safe for younger kids eyes. read more

I love the new location, even if it's a little out of the way. I usually just collect vinyl, but I've recently gotten into collecting CDs. Their CD selection is huge and is better than their vinyl stock (which is still pretty good!). The prices are pretty fair for a brick and mortar and occasionally you can find some rare gems at a killer price. There signs say they pay the highest prices, but that was clearly not true. I brought in 208 DVDs and most were movies that were current and popular. They offered me $17 cash and a small amount of store credit. When I returned to the store and asked for a break down, they said the guy who did it do not write it down, so he pulled that number out of his ???? Another guy said we only sell them for 50 cents, but all the used DVDs that I saw on there racks were from $3.95 to 9.95. Needless to say, I didn't sell my DVDs there, I'd rather donate than let them make that HUGE PROFIT. read more

Called in prior to verify if they were buying records and if I'd be able to come in and sell my collection. I was told yes and when I arrived the employee told me that only the manager handles buying records and he wasn't there. Waisted my time. So I looked around at the clothing. Went to the register to purchase my items and first the employee tried over charging me, luckily I caught it then to top it off took an item from me because it didn't have a tag on it. Used cds and dvds are combined with new items in bins organized alphabetically (and by media, genre) for fast searches. The trick is to drop in often to get a sense of the flow, and to have a list of your objectives. The choice can be overwhelming. read more

I have been to this location many times. So why this review now? I am always looking for recorded music of my favorite groups, whether on CD, vinyl or DVDs. On my recent visit last Sunday, I was also looking for a case for a CD, that had been damaged over the years. The staff went out of their way to help me, and made certain I had what I needed. Fantastic, helpful and interested staff are ideas that came to mind about my visit. I was absolutely satisfied with my visit and the service I received. They don't have the most extensive collection, but I imagine they're doing the best they can considering record stores are only becoming more rare over time. I go in for some obscure metal, but I can usually find at least one item on my list from one of their sections. REMINDER, check you CD's to ensure that you're not purchasing the "edited" version, unless that is what you're looking for. read more

I've always been a fan of Rasputin for their good deals on used media. Their wide selection of CDs and DVDs makes me coming back for more. Ever since re-opening to this location, they've done a lot to stock up their CD and DVD collection to have various copies of almost every CD and/or DVD by an artist you could think of. The organization is pretty simple and easy to navigate. If there's one thing I don't like as much, is their slim collection of vinyl records. Albeit, I find a lot of my classic vinyl records from other locations--thrift stores, bookstores, online, etc.--I'd expect Rasputin to have a larger collection and inventory of classic records. But, since their CD/DVD collection is ample and they seem to have a lot going there, I'm not going to complain since I can usually find good vinyl deals elsewhere. Nonetheless, I'm a fan of Rasputin and this tight, cozy space suits the atmosphere of Rasputin perfectly. Lodged off the side of a small intersection near Sunvalley Mall and for others to see driving by, it's a good location with ample inventory, though, it's not the biggest inventory--especially for vinyl. The CDs and DVDs, however? Oh, could literally spend hours scouring those sections. (I have definitely bought a buttload of CDs and DVDs for under $20. Win!) read more

After weeks of being closed, I came here for 1 particular CD. This review is about how well I think they were doing in regards to the current Covid-19 issue. When I entered the store I was told that I needed to wear my mask at all times while in the store and practice social distancing. Despite moving locations, the store has not improved. The few records they do have are all represses and overpriced. The CD selection is good, but prices are also a little on the steeper side. They have appeared to not cash in on the vinyl boom, but instead allow clothing and dvds to take up 50% of the store, despite being what only 20% of customers come for. read more

I love coming here with my friends sometimes to go through and see if they have any Godzilla and horror movies. Lots of CD's and DVD's to choose from. I have never had any issues with the staff, and they take COVID precautions at the door seriously. Despite the precautions, I find that some customers don't distance themselves sometimes. I'm sorry but I have to give this great business a one star review. I grew up going to this exact location and man has it changed over the years. There used to be a great selection of Bay Area DVD's which are no longer (sideshows and etc..) but that's whatever. What I don't like is how they replaced the greatest book collection I've ever seen at a record store, with a huge xxx video section. Seriously is porn more important than books? For that I have to give a one star review. If someone in corporate see's this, bring back the books you will have space for them if you take out some of the porn. read more

Great place for all dvds and cds. Their vinyl selection is quite small but can sometimes have gems. Would recommend for the music lovers.
