I don't have a photo of the pumpkin pancakes to share because there was not a single crumb remaining due to them being the most delicious pancake I have eaten in all my 34 years. Long lines but the syrup is excellent tasting. The store was virtually empty and the syrup making machines were not in operation. There was a long wait for a table for breakfast. Food was great except for biscuits and gravy. That was cold and bland though the hubby loved the biscuits. I loved the French toast. Whatever bread they used was perfect and huge. The waffle was still gooey with batter it was so undercooked. The waitress gave me attitude when I said so. She took mine but left my friend sitting with an inedible, soggy mess. I complained my egg was runny and she said, "I gave you what you asked for." She never came back to fill my coffee but walked by my table TWICE without asking me if I wanted a refill. We were seated on the porch so only six tables were operating. We were very visible and completely ignored and this was after waiting over an hour to be seated! Oh! Rathbuns is one of if not my favorite breakfast restaurant! They have the best waffles, top them with bacon and real maple syrup and you have the most amazing meal! The perfect amount of salty and sweet. Don't forget to use the maple syrup in your coffee instead of sugar, delicious! Small selection, but in a good way. What they make, they make great. Some of the best bacon I've had. Pancakes are massive and delicious. For $8 you can get 3 pancakes, bacon or sausage & eggs. You also get their REAL maple syrup, no upcharge. A smiling meal would be $13 at The Silo. The atmosphere is very "Adirondacky" and comfortable. We peeked at the kitchen and it is very clean. Our waitress was great, it was so pleasant to be on the porch (with only six tables) especially when the unreasonable guests that were seated next to us left. One of the best places for breakfast that our family has found. Locals go there all the time and during the summer and fall /leaf peeping season-you can spot a lot of out of state plates in the parking lot that have made a special trip to this establishment. I would recommend making a special trip during the maple syrup production season. Check out their state-of-art boilers and evaporators after a breakfast of pancakes or french toast. Growing up in Granville I have mixed feelings about this one. I know the owners and they're good people. The decor is VERY nice, especially for tourists who want to get the full rustic Adirondack Maple Sugar Experience. You can buy memorabilia like cups, pens, hats, and maybe even shirts. And it's not only for out-of-towners either; whenever my aunts and uncles from South Glens Falls and/or Niskayuna come to visit they always want to go to this place, and they've all spent their ENTIRE lives in the area. It's family-run and you won't find nicer, more down-to-Earth people. A lot of people come here, eat, leave a big tip, stock up on their touristy things, buy a jug of Maple Syrup, eat the maple Syrup over a period of months over breakfast, and then cherish the jug with the Rathbun's label on it until the end of time. They have Maple Sugar Candy too if you like it (a lot of people think it's way too sweet but to each his/her own). Onto the negatives. They cater to white-collar tourists and the prices and portions (very small) reflect that. Some people get off on the fact that make all of their own syrup themselves but as a local I'm not wowed by this. I think they even offer tours where you can go watch them cook the syrup which is neat if you've never seen it done before, but if you've seen it once, you've seen if a billion times. It looks like a typical small-town restaurant, but it's really not that at all. If you're looking for this in Granville/Whitehall (obtw, Rathbun's is actually in G-ville but they have a Whitehall address) I'd recommend the Pine Grove in Granville or the Big Apple Diner in Whitehall. Maple syrup goes good with breakfast as you could probably imagine, but you can get better, bigger, and cheaper breakfasts at other places and guess what? They'll give you maple syrup too, and there's a halfway decent chance that they bought it from Rathbun's. This is really a second-job for the owners and their hours are weird so it's not open at standard times (I think only weekends or maybe Thursday to Sunday or something). If I had a hot chick from out of town and wanted to impress her with some local color I'd pretend to like this place and bring her here. If she liked it then I'd promise to being her back everytime she visited and then I'd probably hope to try to bed her down. Other than that you'll rarely see me here. Verdict: Two-stars. I like the owners and it's a very pleasant place to eat. But the portions are little and the prices big. I won't lie, their syrup is very good, but you can probably get it from around town at other places for a lot cheaper. If you're from out of town and looking for a nice place to eat then I'd recommend Rathbun's. If you're looking for a jug of delicious maple syrup then I'd recommend Rathbun's. If you're looking for a good place to eat a small-town breakfast then I would not recommend Rathbun's. read more

Rathbun's has been a staple since my grandparents would treat me to pancakes on the weekends. Living about 40 minutes away from Rathbun's was a special treat and family time. My husband and I went there for the first time yesterday, 7/11/21. We will definitely go back. Such cool items on display. It has a great country cabin feel. There are old sleds, ceramic crocks, bottles, snow shoes and so much more. There was a variety of old maple syrup cans on a shelf that I really loved. You can buy dishes, silverware, t-shirts, sweat shirts, etcetera. There are large dining rooms to seat many people. There was a short wait time. Just put your name in and the waitress comes outside to call our name when your table is ready. The maple syrup is out of this world. The portions are large, and everything is fresh and delicious. We needed a doggie bag for our leftovers. They tasted great reheated. The staff was very friendly, efficient, helpful. We were so full we could not visit the actual gift shop. Next time we will do that first. They had a great display of farm equipment with the stories behind them. The setting was lovely with great views of the surrounding area. Six of us eat here at 8am on a Sunday and had no trouble getting a seat. It is a very nice clean restaurant. The service was very good and friendly. Our order was delivered in a very timely manner. The food was very good. Several of us had the apple cider pancakes and the pumpkin pancakes and I would recommend either of them. We will frequent this restaurant again. read more

I don't understand the review that complains about portions. Rathbun's portions are huge. Try the Sugarhouse Special. It takes a large appetite to finish it. Everything is the best of it's kind--fluffy pancakes, excellent bacon and sausage, and Thomas's eggs, plus the top flight syrup, as much as you want. Prices are not too high, either, for the quality. We have friends who come from NYC for Rathbun's. Don't miss it. read more

I really liked this place 2 years ago, something has changed and it is not for the better. No homemade bread,no homemade corn beef hash. They are only using their home bread for there french toast is what I was told. They need to go back to the way they were. read more
