This quaint, intimate venue boasts more seating outside than inside. From the super-catchy tunes to the fresh brewed coffee, this uber-friendly restaurant is a local's favorite. We were lucky to be in the area before the crowds but I can seriously see long lines for this home style venue. All your breakfast favorites and then some. Reasonably priced, street parking available but know it's only for 2 hours. Patio seating with umbrellas, pleasant staff and an all round great experience. A must visit place if you come on up. Adequate food. Outdoor seating is nice and it's also pet friendly. A few parking spots in front, also street parking. Ok back to the food- I had the Eggs Oscar which is a take on Eggs Benedict with crab meat instead of Canadian bacon. It was just ok. Very bland and the consistency of the crab is like that of tuna fish in the can. The Béarnaise sauce was very bland. Dry English muffin and tasteless home fries. My wife ordered the steak and eggs and said the same- very bland. The toast was burned. I had a pineapple mimosa which was more juice than anything. She had a cranberry mimosa and it was more of the same. The food lacks love and flavor. The bathroom needs to be minded. That said, the staff is friendly. Would I go back? No. read more

This is a small restaurant right on the main drag. They are open for breakfast thru lunch, closing at 3pm. We stopped for lunch on our way back to lake George. Our waitress was Brie and was very attentive to our needs as well as giving us advice on dinner spots. We had a Reuben sandwich and a burger. Both were excellent. I really wanted to like this place. There were a few breakfast choices around, but this one looked really cute with its outdoor seating. Took a while to get seated and orders taken, but nothing terrible. I decided to go with something that's not on every menu, which was eggs Oscar (eggs Benedict with crab meat instead of Canadian ham) - it was awful. The crab meat was like canned crab mixed with mayo, not lump crabmeat. And smothered in hollandaise sauce. I couldn't eat it. I ate the 2 eggs left everything else. I'd have told the waitress, except she never came over to ask how the food was, just dropped off a check. I gave it 2 stars because my daughter liked her chocolate chip pancakes. Don't expect great food here. It's cute and good for kids - that's about all. read more

Food was good, hash was great. 2nd time here in 2 years and the only thing worth commenting on is the pancakes. The cinnamon/nutmeg/ginger they put in there is just not good. Came here for breakfast with some of my friends and I was really happy that I did. This place is so cute- they have outdoor seating with umbrellas and tables that seat around four people. There's also a 3 car parking lot in front. The prices on the menu for breakfast are pretty reasonable (though I am comparing it to NYC) I was able to get a stack of three blueberry pancakes with strawberry rhubarb sauce ($10.95) and refillable coffee ($2.50), which I truly needed after a night of heavy drinking by the lake. I've never had a hangover cure like this. I was full of energy for the rest of the day! The pancakes are super filling! They weren't really sweet either, which I really appreciated, and they were fluffy and not burnt. And the coffee was great. Service was also really great and they were super friendly. We patiently waited for a seat outside for 35min. During that time at least 2 parties were seated that got there after we arrived. When we finally inquired about the wait, the hostess offered to seat us inside which we did not want. In fact, we looked inside when we got there and noone was inside. If we had wanted to eat inside, we wouldn't have waited all! Eggs came with the bacon on them. Waitress comes back moments later eggs are cold they literally took the bacon off and gave it back to me. The pancakes were all raw batter inside!! In laws had Cinnamon French toast. But was given plain French toast, they said it was eh. How you can screw up breakfast is beyond me. No manager came by to apologize either. Breakfast isn't that hard! This is our second time here. I kept telling my husband we didn't like it here. Well he was reminded why today. We ate here a year ago and rated it a 4 star as well. The food is your basic breakfast foods that you would find at most restaurants. The only problems we had were the bees and flies that were surrounding us for the whole meal. If you have a party of larger than 5 ask to be seated at the one picnic table on the side and they should accommodate. Also the service does take a lot longer than we would have liked. read more

All I can say is PERFECT EGGS BENEDICT! From the bottom up - English muffin was toasted just right (not one more than the other). Eggs were excellent consistency - a little runny but no gooey uncooked egg white. Hollandaise was a buttery lemon blend. Mimosas were also perfectly blended. The wait staff was attentive. We have brought our dogs here 3 years in a row for breakfast. The past 2 years were fine but this year the old hag hostess was so rude. The place has dog friendly outdoor seating but she seemed annoyed that we brought our dogs and rudely stated she wasn't going to listen to them all breakfast. If you don't want to encounter dogs, don't work at a dog friendly restaurant. The service also sucked this year and the food is nothing special. read more

Stopped here on a Friday evening for dinner. This is a small restaurant with limited seating. I had the chicken Francois with fresh steamed Vegas and rice. It was very good. My wife had steak, steamed veg is and baked potato, and clam chowder as an appetizer. Again very good. Our guest had chicken bites. The dinner includes a fresh salad and very tasty bread that was served warm. The service was excellent. This place closes from Oct 8 for the season. Give this place a try. read more

After walking by this place all week, we decided to give it a try. It was also recommended by the Bolton Landing visitors center. Glad we took their advice because this place was fantastic- the food, the service and the prices, especially for the generous amount of food we got. We were surprised at how empty the place was compared to the other restaurants around town. We did see lots of people going there for the walk-up ice cream window so perhaps people think that it's just an ice cream place? I do have to say that as nice as the patio is, maybe they need something else like flower pots or candle jars to make it a little more inviting to the passersby? They did have nice string lights and soft music playing. I would definitely recommend the Shack for families as well as to those looking for a nice, romantic meal. I had the chicken francaise which included one of the absolute best salads I've ever had. It was just a green salad with a side of blue cheese but the lettuce was crispy, flavorful and the freshest I think I've ever had. Like it was just out of the garden. My entree, which was enough for two people to share, was delicious, cooked really well and topped with a very tasty lemon butter sauce. Again was impressed with the fresh sautéed squash that accompanied the chicken. Even the fresh, flowering thyme as a garnish was a lovely touch. You can tell these folks take a lot of pride in their food. My dining companions enjoyed their food, too: fish and chips, lasagna, and the mac and cheese (a nice touch was the buttery crushed potato chips on top). My son had French Fries for dinner ( too much ice cream earlier) and even they were excellent- hot and cooked to crispy perfection. I do hope people visiting Bolton Landing will give this place a chance even if it's not as flashy as the other restaurants in town. It's still a very nice, clean restaurant and all of the food we had was top-notch. read more

Came to town for breakfast and out of 4 restaurants this was the only venue that was open. Very nice outdoor seating but-- there were tables available but no hostess. I asked a passing server if anyone was working here ( meaning as a hostess) and got a condescending reply that they are the only place open and to please be patient. We were seated in about 15 minutes but I noticed several parties either leaving the line or returning menus and seeking greener pastures. The service was a bit slow ( understandably ) but very friendly and efficient. The food was good but really-- for a $26 bill for two they really could have added a bit more hash and more than 8 homefries. Definitely not on my return list. read more

A delightful way to start the day with blueberry pancakes and omelettes prepared to order served outside amidst great music piped in as background to a lovely setting on their deck. They also have great lunch items and fresh salads and yummy homemade soups. Best value for dinner with interesting choices but dinner served only Friday and Saturday nights for only a few weeks during peak summer months.
