First chance to visit this location I must say I am rather disappointed. This have a quite a large beer menu, problem was that most were out stock. I chose 3-4 and finally they one in stock. This place gets THE HIGHEST rating! The service was fantastic! The food was phenomenal! The atmosphere was perfect for a light hearted date night with friends. TV's for the Sports fans, live music (that was so stinking good) and community tables that I DIDNT hate! They had good parking and plenty of seating. I'll start by saying that they have done a great job revamping this place- I love the long tables inside and the spacious beer garden (though it probably shouldn't have been open to guests quite yet considering the building materials strewn around). The wait staff (singular...) and the bartender were very nice, the food was great, and the drink offerings were plentiful. Unfortunately, that only earns three stars considering our experience. Let's set the scene: One waitress, one bartender, one person in the kitchen. Seinfeld Trivia Night We waited about 10 minutes before the only waitress working was able to come to our outdoor table. She was very nice but our drinks took at least another 15 minutes to arrive. We ordered food from a much too extensive dinner menu when considering how understaffed they are. My meal came no sooner than an hour later. The bartender came to our table about 20 minutes after that to awkwardly and clearly uncomfortably inform us that the brat my husband ordered wasn't available. He told us that one of their servers quit that day and another called in sick in an effort to explain the long wait times. After reordering, his food came about 15 minutes later. While waiting for our food, we had no visit from our waitress- who was probably overworked trying to take care of the huge amount of people inside for trivia night. I had to go inside to the bar to order a second round of drinks. Thankfully, they did comp a good portion of our beer. After having talked to other people who have been here, it sounds like understaffing, long wait times, and absent servers is not unusual. I was under the impression that it was because they are still working out kinks but they've been open long enough for this to not be happening. Where are the owners? This is a really cool German Bier Haus. I enjoyed the ambiance and our waitress was very friendly. The Charcuterie board we had was delicious and filling. It was a large board for $26 and you got your money's worth. I really enjoyed the crunchy salty cheesy chips and pretzel with cheese. Of course they also have a great beer selection. This place is awesome, but... The location is great and has plenty of parking. The decor and atmosphere lends itself to a fun and very social time. Outside is great, with a clean lawn for playing games, drinking beer, eating pretzels, or just hanging out. The staff was really nice and helpful with food and drink selections, BUT there is something very wrong with how they take, track, deliver, and bill for what you order. We often had to order twice, waited too long for simple beer orders, and when food came out they rarely knew who to give it to. We were told by one person, "Sorry for the wait. We are trying some new processes." With so much going right it seems they could pay a logistics pro to come in and fix their ordering problems. We will go back often, because the food and beer are great. I hope they get the ordering process figured out so they can earn that fifth star. read more

My husband is German and we make a point to find German food whenever we travel so we were excited to see this place open up. The atmosphere/amenities from a bar standpoint are amazing. Such a cool vibe, patio/biergarden is amazing, lots of tvs for sports/events, fun games available and good drink options. I would love to see this space thrive but the food was mediocre at best. Not sure if they were understaffed but despite only having 3 other tables occupied and a handful of people at the bar the bartender seemed overwhelmed handling the POS and the bar. She forgot half our drinks and both spaetzles came out with red sauce even though the menu doesn't note red sauce. It says caramelized onions on the menu, but there weren't any of those either. Also the "German" meatballs are definitely from Costco/Sams and were cold. My husband's schnitzel was dry and overall everything tasted old. If the food improved this place would be 5 stars for sure. I've been here 3 times now. I forgave the lack of provisions the first time but they've made it a habit now. The pros: great decor (ski village lodge), appropriate beer sizes (mugs/steins) and great location for a working happy hour. The cons: terrible service. Inadequately staffed (for such a new place is a sign that the management is willing to cut corners). It took us 20 minute to get a server. 20 minutes to get our beers, 20 minutes... (you get the point ). Running out of multiple taps! Seriously?? Running out of food?? What are you, a boy scout pop up lemonade stand? Food took time, guess why? One frazzled cook. Now first our server was nice and funny and tried her best to make sure we were taken care of. Now I don't know if this place is good for groups as our food was coming out all over the place. Some of our group was completely done eating before others even got their food. A side salad was literally the last thing to come. I had the curry wurst plate. When they say small plate they are not kidding. $8 gets you about maybe 3 inches of sausage. The bier cheese soup is not soup. There is nothing liquid about it. It's more of a paste dip. Grainy and not good. The goulash is the farthest thing from goulash. The beer list was pretty good they could for sure add a few more European beers. I've been to many of these style places in Germany as I've been to Germany over 30 times In my life now. Here for a party on Tuesday evening that served 30 people with buffet style appetizers in the main area. We sat at the long wooden tables & received the same friendly service as before. I ordered the turkey on pretzel bun that came with Swiss cheese & surprisingly good homemade mustard sauce-whatever they put in the sauce was delicious! I also tried the Haus Salad with mustard vinaigrette! You should try it! We were able to bring in a cake for the celebration & we stayed for Trivia that started at 7p.m! Delicious! My fiancé and I went in tonight because we had a coupon as part of Omaha bar ticket for buy a sandwich get 50% off a sandwich. The inside was very well done- a mix of wood and exposed brick, live edge wood tables, and antler light fixtures. They had a mix of seating with high top tables, a few lower tables, and long tables with benches like you'd expect in a German beer hall. They had a few patio tables near the entrance and also a large patio area in the back of the space with an additional bar out there. Overall, super cool atheistic. Good selection of German beers but it was also nice they had local beers on tap for people who aren't interested in German beers. Now, I wasn't expecting much for the food since it's a beer hall but the food is what will keep me coming back! Now it's a simple menu but what we had was sooooo good! I had the RSBH Castle Club and my fiancé had the Turkey Pesto sandwich. Both were served on pretzel buns, but unlike some pretzel bun sandwiches this bun was the perfect thickness and density. Not too much bread and not too dense, it complimented the sandwich perfectly. The sandwiches were warmed and just honestly such good kid sandwiches. My mouth is watering now thinking about it. Everything was very clean & the server was friendly. Bookguy ordered the Ruben and I had a turkey gouda sandwich on pretzel bread. On the advice of the server, I also had a German beer. Both sandwiches were served with a small salad & kettle chips which seemed like the standard Lays variety. I liked the salad which came in a paper food tray. It was some kind of spring mix with an unusual mustard-based dressing that was palette pleasing. Bookguy said the Ruben didn't taste like Rubens he has had in the past but he couldn't figure out why. While he thought it was a good sandwich, it wasn't what he expected. The pretzel bread made the turkey gouda sandwich, which seemed to be made of standard deli turkey & cheese. Both sandwiches were good, but not exceptional. The beer was called Fruh and was light and crisp, just as the server said. He knows his beer! Came in to watch a game, eat some food and drink some beers. Was told the kitchen was closed til 6:30 for a private event. Annoying, but no big deal, I could wait an hour. Tried to order food at 6:45 and was told the kitchen was closed until 8pm. Had I been told that when I first walked in, I would have gone somewhere else. Also, was sitting at a table behind the bar. Bartender put my beer up on the serving bar, I watched it sit there for a few minutes before I got up and got it myself. I try not to leave negative reviews, but staff really didn't seem to care. Although I'm not German, I find this place addicting and a joy to be part of this place. I have not had the delight yet to eat much of the food. I had sauerkraut and kielbasa. The sauerkraut was delicious but I have to say I was hoping for a little bit more kielbasa it was peppered with tiny bites smaller than morsels. The night I went they had like the stein holding competition for both guys and girls it's kind of a cool little challenge for people in time I'll participate. The people are friendly and I love the selection of beer that they have and you can get as much or as little as you want they have these huge glass boots. I don't know how but I will try it one time. Its a great concept and a fairly good execution of a German Bier hall. The only thing I could fault them for is how they handle larger groups. I called 2 weeks in advance to let them know I was planning on bringing in 10-15 people. I had seen reserved tables before and wanted to make sure we had room. I was told they don't do reservations on the weekend, which is understandable. I asked about renting out the upstairs room and told it wasn't an option. The option I did get was $100 non-refundable deposit, not applied to my food and drink bill, and they would hold a table. I offered to do $100 deposit applied to our food bill, with a 1 hour window to hold the table or keep it, and was told no deal. So, we showed up an hour early. Spread out to as many tables as possible to hold space. And when the band showed up we were given the table we tried to reserve at the time requested...for free. I get it...you're busy and people are worthless with commitments these days. But when someone is trying to work with you and spend hundreds of dollars in your bar in the process...use some common sense. read more

I was really excited when Rathskeller opened up - a casual neighborhood haunt with parking, food, and beer was exactly what I was looking for! So I've been 5-6 times in the last 4-5 months, and while I'll keep giving it a go, it's not quite what I'd hoped. First - Food! The brats are great, but the chips and pretzels aren't quite what I'd like them to be. I've enjoyed the regular brat, the veggie brat, and the cheddar one, and liked them all, but each time I get an order of pretzels they seem soft too salty or a little too stiff/stale. Second - Drinks! The beer list is great and I've loved all the beers I've tried there - both old standbys as well as new to me brews. Third - Service! Totally hit or miss on this one. Sometimes I've had incredible service with attentive waitstaff who are friendly and conscientious, and other times I've sat for over 10 minutes with an empty beer glass before just going up to the bar to ask for a refill. Also, one time the waitstaff took our order and then neglected to put it in to the kitchen properly (or something), which meant it took over 30 minutes to get our food. They comped the food, but before that they'd come by several times to say it was "coming soon" or "almost done" before finally admitting that it had never been submitted in the first place, which felt dishonest. Again, half the time I'm wowed by the service, which is why every now and then give them another try. Fourth - decor! I generally love the vibe of Rathskeller and find it approachable and casual without being divey. The only thing that I hate is the damn restroom signs. First of all, the restrooms are far apart from each other, which means clear signage is ever more important if you're going to have gendered bathrooms (you don't have context for what the other door says). But the cutesy signs they have - "Brats" and "Buns" - are just gross. No one wants to be reduced to their respective genitalia, or have to think about the similarity between the food they're eating and anyone's genitalia. It's a cheap joke and this is 2019. First time trying this restaurant with friends today. The food was awesome! We had reuben pretzel appetizers. Could have judy hat those and been quite happy. Also had a cherry Moscow mule. For main course I had a grilled or toasted Italian sub. So excellent!. Our server was so attentive and food was super timely. The only reason for a 4 is the interior. It's a little tired and entry is not the most inviting. All that said I would go here again every day!!! So delicious And friendly service! Dang I wish I took a picture of food! This my third time in brought family from out of town. Trivia night which was interesting. Sign indicated where to order and pay. No one interested in checking to see if we needed any thing like a menu. Finally found one laying at the bar ordered food. We were with another couple we ordered right after them they got there food in respectable time. We had to ask about hours 30 min after that we were then told that orders were taking 45 min. Leaving quite disappointed, my mother in law hyped this place up for over a week during my wife and I's visit. The food and beer list looked awesome and I was excited from reading the other yelp reviews. Sadly, they only offer pretzels, chips, and wieners on Sundays! Our waitress curtly told us that it's "on the website," but it's not on their menus or signage anywhere. I don't think most people check a sandwich's places website to confirm they still offer sandwiches during lunchtime on a weekend. Might want to rethink this policy entirely once football season starts? Looking forward to our next trip to Omaha so we can visit on the right day. read more

My husband have had this place on our list for a while. We went around 4:30 on Friday and thankfully it wasn't that busy yet. Entering the restaurant it wasn't clear to us to seat ourselves so we went to the bar to grab a beer and asked the bartender. After telling us to seat ourselves we picked a table inside and grabbed a menu. With menus clearly opened on the table, signaling we would be eating, no one stopped by to take our order. Three different servers passed us on multiple occasions so I finally (after 15 minutes of no service) stopped an employee to ask how we order. She explained that they were sorely understaffed. My husband and I completely understood but wished that would have been briefly explained to us so we didn't feel ignored. She quickly track down a server and our order was taken, the server even recommended which board to order, and we were very pleased with the board choice. My husband and I also split the Ruben and it far exceeded my craving for a Reuben lately. I'm was glad that I splurged and also tried their German potato salad because it was very comparable to the potato salad that my German uncle used to make when I was a kid. Very tasty! The bartender was helpful and we had him pick out all of our beer choices and we enjoyed all of them so besides the confusion in service and seating it was a very pleasant experience. Visited this little beer house down on Farnam last week. What a great place for a stein. I was ther over lunch time and it wasn't to busy. As a group of four we got our beers pretty quick and there was plenty to choose from. I sampled a local Bock from scriptown and loved it. For food we all tried something different. So I can happily recommend the soups, salads, charcuterie boards, burgers and stuffed pretzels. The charcuterie board came with some amazing dipping sauces. Loved the mustard and curry ketchup which I was informed is popular in Germany! There was only one waitress in the place and she was running around as quick as possible to get orders. This slower service and the fact our food all came out at different times made this a 4 instead of five (I was told later that their heat lamp was down) Will definitely return again read more
