Love little taco stands with history! Rauls makes the cut! Solid street taco performance, we had pollo and carne asada tacos with guacamole and baja fish tacos topped with white sauce, plus their yummy salsa. Patio seating was available during the Encinitas monthly car show, so we dined in. Not fancy and not super fast but good!

We were walking around looking for a place to eat because The Taco Stand had way too long of a wait! We saw this place and it turned out to be great! They have a tiny parking lot (but you can find parking on the side streets). Seating is not plenty but we managed to find a spot inside. I ordered the adobada taco and carne asada taco. I preferred the carne asada flavor but both were good!

Been coming here for years, solid and inexpensive spot! Rolled tacos or flautas are my fav so ordered the chicken rolled tacos. Good crispiness, tasty shredded chicken, and a generous amount of guacamole and cheese added for just under $8. You can order the beans, rice and extra toppings for a bit more. Quick service. Fairly clean little interior area of the shack, and lots of tables and chairs now right outside.

Tacos are really good. The vibes are okay. I think they're under construction right now so the area isn't too pretty. Staff is pretty friendly and seem nice.

Quick, tasty & fresh food plus good salsa, good customer service, easy ordering, seating, easy to find parking, and reasonable prices = 5 stars Had the CA Burrito and Taquito Burrito with chicken. Both hit the spot and satisfied my Mexican food craving. Next time I'll get the rolled tacos rather than the taquito burrito. It was good and the taquitos were crunchy and fresh but the tortilla wrapped around it didn't do much besides hold it together.

They have upgraded a lot since my last visit. They now accept cash and credit card. They went digital with their menu too. They have kiosks on the side that you can order from as well. I ordered the carne asada nachos and they were okay. The chips tasted stale and old. The toppings were good, I love pico de gallo. It's conveniently located right by the beach so I'll be back just on location.

He is such a good orderer he ordered for me because I was nervous

We came in with the yummys! Just my buddy and me. Oooo yum yum this was one of those meals where you are "ooooooo I feel so good this taste so good" and your friend looks at you and goes "oh yeah that's what I'm TALKING about." You gotta to try it simple yet delightful.

Stopped here for lunch. Wow this place is AMAZING. Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had from this little shack. You go up to the counter and order and they hand you a pager. I ordered the beef Taquito burrito. My husband ordered the fish tacos and a carnitas crispy taco. All of the food was amazing. I will be thinking about the Taquito burrito for a long time. It was delicious with cheese and guacamole inside it. My husband loved his food too. The fish tacos were so good. If you are looking for the good Mexican food you hear about San Diego having, Raul's is where you need to go. And the price is not bad at all! I honestly don't know how places like chipotle etc stay in business out here when you have amazing Mexican places like this for the same price. 5 stars

I have a lot of comments so I'm reducing them to bullet points - Parking: Hard to find, has 1 parking spot for online orders - Pricing: we ordered at the kiosk and the burrito/ were ~$8 but if you wanted to add rice or even beans it was extra, but some people ordered at the register and it sounded like they got all of the additional things that were extra so definitely has some discrepancy - Food: I ordered my hot sauce and mild sauce on the inside of the burrito but they all came on the side, and the food wasn't mixed. This may be just nit picking but all the rice and meat were on one side and the veggies and as I'm writing this I realized I didn't get 1/2 of the extras I ordered like guacamole and onions in all 3 of the burritos. Edit: I called them and they said they would refund me for the extras I ordered Update: they never refunded me

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

Encinitas Fish Shop offers a customizable dining experience where you can choose your fish,…read moreseasoning, and sides. We opted for tacos with yellowtail, shrimp, and albacore (seared rare). Overall, Encinitas Fish Shop has great seafood, but the supporting ingredients don't match the quality of the fish. The portions are generous. Yellowtail Taco - 3.5/5. The yellowtail was prepared with Cajun blackened seasoning. The fish itself was fresh and expertly cooked, with excellent texture, moisture, and doneness. Unfortunately, the rest of the taco didn't match the quality of the seafood. The tortillas, cabbage, and tomatoes tasted like standard, possibly low-grade ingredients from a typical food-service supplier. The tomatoes lacked sweetness and juiciness, while the tortillas were somewhat dry. On the positive side, the salsa was above average and complemented the fish well. Shrimp Taco - 3.5/5. My thoughts on the shrimp taco were very similar. The shrimp were fresh, high-quality, and cooked well. They remained succulent and juicy, making them the highlight of the taco. However, the supporting ingredients once again held the dish back. Better-quality tortillas and produce would have significantly elevated the overall experience. Albacore Taco - 2.5/5. The menu describes the albacore as "seared rare," but what I received was closer to mostly raw chunks of fish with only a light sear on the exterior. The fish itself was fresh and of good quality, but the pieces were cut quite thick, making the minimal sear even more noticeable. The result felt more like eating sashimi in a taco than a properly seared rare albacore taco. Thinner cuts, a more aggressive sear, or both would improve the balance of texture and flavor. Encinitas Fish Shop serves fresh, high-quality seafood and generally does an excellent job preparing the fish itself. The seafood was consistently the strongest part of every taco we tried. My main criticisms are that the "seared rare" albacore could be executed more effectively, and the tacos would benefit greatly from higher-quality supporting ingredients. With fresher tortillas and produce, these tacos could go from good to truly outstanding.

The cashier was really nice, but she seemed more concerned with chatting with customers than working quickly (maybe she felt like she had to talk to these people, as they seemed like regulars). We waited patiently, but some customers were getting really upset at the long wait times and making a scene, so that was awkward and definitely took away from the atmosphere. The food was very mediocre, especially given the high prices. The guacamole was outright gross and we only ate about half of it, which is unusual for us as a guac-loving family. It tasted like poor quality avocados were used; it had that weird rotten fruit taste that low quality avocado variants often have. The beef taco was good with a nice portion. The fish tacos had a nice flavor, but there was barely any fish in them and one of my tacos had a bone that hurt my tooth. The potato taco was flavorless and definitely the worst of the tacos. My husband said his California burrito was 4/5 and my kids seemed to like their kids meals (though I ordered the quesadilla only for each of them and was given the more expensive plate with rice and beans, which they don't like, so I was charged for food I didn't order and didn't want...).

The interior is bright with large picture windows. The restaurant was clean and comfy. When I entered the restaurant, there were no customers, I was greeted and my order was taken. I did notice others entering behind me and for some reason, they were not acknowledged or assisted until my order was completed. Strange??? At one point, the customer behind me was starting to feel neglected and almost left. One thing I highly recommend is Dave's Cherry Cream Soda. It was a light and refreshing way to cool off and I just couldn't stop going back for refills. It paired perfectly with the Dave's Single Burger which included a hamburger patty, American cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo and ketchup between a premium bun. The French fries were crispy with just the right amount of salt. Drinks are self-serve and the machine boasts 100 flavor choices. For dessert I chose to purchase a Caramel Crunch Vanilla Frosty Fusion. (Who picks these names?) The frosty was very sweet with touches of caramel and a bold vanilla flavor. It's finished with a topping of tiny toffee flakes that are also mixed in. It gives you the "'crunch" that the name implies. Overall, a tasty meal.
