I was at The Raven with my wife last night. A wonderful Artist named Allison Kantor was having an art show there. Her paintings were hung on the walls all around the cafe. There were many of her friends there to show her support and she bought bottles of wine for groups at tables. Allison was quite understandably excited about all of the people who showed up. We were behind Allison at the order bar when she asked for another bottle of wine and glasses. The bar tender refused to sell it to her and told her she was cut off!! She handled it quite well (didn't scream, yell or jump over the bar to strangle the bar tender) but I could tell she was horrified! She told the Bar tender that the wine was for her friends who came out for her show. He reluctantly sold it to her with a warning that she could not have any. (her friends told me she had been nursing a glass of wine since they got there). I ordered an Arnold Palmer, my wife oerdered a glass of wine and some food. We sat with some friends and waited & chatted. When the food arrived, we noticed that all of Allison's friends, herself and her husband were leaving. They were going to the Gurley Street Grill. We finished our food (I was not impressed) and drinks and got the bill. $8.50 for a glass of wine, only average tasting food and a rude bar tender to boot. They owe Allison a BIG apology. All the business she brough in to them (and they got 40% of anything she sold, 40%!) and now, there are a lot of folks that won't go back there and will not have anything good to say about The Raven Cafe. We went to the Grill were and entire room was set aside for Allison & friends. The food was good, the prices fair and all had a good time. This is an updated review. After being offered a make up meal which I gave to my daughter, I decided the day I was just an off one for the Raven. She said the service was good and the food as expected. Ask if the they are having a bad day, leave and do not place an order. The Raven came highly recommended. I expected a savory burger and decided to split it with my wife. I was told I could make my own blank burger. I ordered a burger with tomato, lettuce, please no onion, blue cheese, and cold slaw on the side. After waiting some time the burger was delivered, there is no cheese, no tomato, and no lettuce. I paid extra for all of that. It was just a grilled bun and a burger patty. I took it back. The other burger that my friend ordered also had to be returned. It was not prepared as expected. The bun was not correct and toppings were missing. The server said they were out of blue cheese, why didn't they tell me. I changed it to swiss. The cook yelled what do they expect us to do? I think the kitchen was not prepared, they were out of ingredients. Why didn't they tell me up front? The burgers were taken back into the kitchen, I heard someone in the kitchen yelling I don't have that stuff. Much later the burgers were returned to us, the lettuces is old roman, the tomatoes are ok, and they did have Swiss cheese. The onion rings my friend ordered were good, but the cole slaw not so much. We share that while we waited for the recooking. We should have left and gone someplace else I should have asked for a refund for the burgers. If this had just happened to us that would be one thing, but all around me people were complaining about their orders not be right. One group let complaining and refused to pay for their order. I guess the thing that bother me most besides the cook, the servers tried, was the $32 for the food and added a $7 tip. I should have been with the group that walked away did not pay for such poor accommodation. I will never tip at 20% again until I am sure the total service is as expected. Serviced sucked!!! Tried to have a business lunch, bad forum for that. I ordered first and never got my meal. After everyone else was finished my meal showed up and it was not even what I had ordered. I can't possibly recommend this place with a straight face. Bring your flyswatter. I've eaten here 3 or 4 times and every time have had several flies buzzing around the table. Interesting menu, huge variety of beer, good live entertainment. But I really find the fly problem very unappetizing. Might go for a beer, but don't think I'll be eating there again. read more

While walking down Whiskey Row we came to the conclusion it was not the atmosphere we were looking for, we are not to keen on smokers. But we wanted to enjoy the area and its local flavor. That's what Raven Cafe offered. There was a live band, wide variety of beer, patio dining, and not smoking. Beautiful! We ordered veggie burger with a salad, half & half order of sweet potato fires and cayenne fries, and a chorizo quesadilla. The veggie burger was good, not the greatest but it was very delicious. I added some ranch to give it a bit more flavor. I did request no red peppers and they managed to forget to exclude them from my meal. I pushed them aside and the server was apologetic. The chorizo quesadilla was REALLY greasy! The Half & Half were the best part of the meal. I am not a fan of sweet potato fries but boy do they know what they are doing. Those are the BEST sweet potato fries ever. I believe i liked them because they were super thin cut. I really enjoyed sitting in the patio and have the stars above us as we enjoyed our meal. read more

The Raven has live music all the time and people talk about it like it's the greatest place - it's not. The food portions are quite small, unsatisfying and way over priced, plus the service is terrible. You pay for the atmosphere which is NOTHING BUT SMUG. The staff is too preoccupied entertaining certain tables or doing nothing it seems. I got up and asked the woman at the bar for ketchup instead of waiting any longer for service. She seemed astonished that I had the nerve to get out of my chair and disappointed that I didn't order something more. If you want to feel comfortable and be served in here you better have money to blow or be a cardigan wearing regular cause that's who hangs out here - hipsters and rich old folk. I used to enjoy the Raven for coffee or beer with a snack, catch up on e-mail with their Internet service, and enjoy the atmosphere. Over time, it has lost a lot of its charm. You often have to wait in line a long time with only one person to take orders and do the bar work to fill beer or wine glasses and make coffee drinks. The Internet connection is now free for only 30 minutes and then you have to pay a fee for four hours. And the kitchen has become unpredictable -- prepare to wait a long time for your order to come. read more

Bar and restaurant with a great atmosphere, yummy good, friendly service and live music. I ate the salmon and beet salad and both were outstanding. The decor preserves the old western ambience, without over doing it. The band the night I was there was great (Robby Roberson Band), they have a wide beer and wine selection. My one year-old son and 12 year-old daughter and I went to the Raven Café on a family trip to Prescott. Ordering at the counter was weird (what do you tip?) but I was happy with the food and service, and must echo other compliments of the vast selection of beers on tap. The Raven Burger drew high marks from my daughter, who is a self-described carnivore and knows a good burger when she tastes one. She was especially impressed with the cheese on it, which was feta or bleu or something of that crumbly consistency. The little one and I shared a quiche which drew a "yelp" from him each time I'd take more than 2 seconds to shove some in his little mouth. Although I can see the "pretentious" criticism in other reviews, we all dug the art on the wall and the ornate patio cover upstairs. Staff was friendly and helpful with beer suggestions. Next time I go will be with adults though so I can feel hip! read more

Wow... the raven burger is a must order. The chef special made us one with turkey and then we got the beef and split it. I can't explain to you the flavor combo with their special jelly sauce and the fried egg... it was insane. They also have the best sweet potato fries. Warm, cozy light spills onto the sidewalk in front of the Raven and beckons you to enter. It seems to promise a genuine, intimate, humorous, and friendly experience. With its small door, an entryway which forces you to huddle, and quirky art which decorates the interior, what more could you want from your local art bar? The Raven is a coffee house with an extensive, well-chosen list of wine and beer. The main problem is that the customer service is extremely lacking. The Raven carries itself with it a bit of arrogance, which is defined by its unwillingness to accommodate its customers with excellent service. In one instance, I ordered a salad, but my request could not be met. Not a minute before trying to order my salad, one was brought to the table beside mine. Trying to order it, I was denied because the kitchen "wasn't making anymore salads". Sorry. Shrug. It was not incredibly late and the kitchen was not closed. A previous time I had ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which offered a very nice assortment of cheese and fruit to partner with my wine. The corn chowder was watery and tasted as if it had come from a variety of cans. The pizzas are tender-crusted with fresh toppings and original ingredients. The falafel wrap is pleasant but bland with a modest amount of vegetables and a cold outer layer. The sweet potato fries can on a good day, be golden brown and tender, or half-burned on your plate. They do however, always come with a delicious aioli, flavored intelligently with chipotle pepper. It is not the focus of the Raven to be a restaurant, and I have not had everything on their menu, but have been there several times. I can say this, it is not difficult to serve simple, well-prepared food. Their prices are fair. In the evenings, it is very busy, due much to the fact it is in a town that lacks many coffee houses or wine bars, and the ambiance is unique due to the combination of bar and coffee house. You will wait a while to receive your order. Seating is often sparse, and entrees are hit or miss. The ambiance at the Raven in the evening is noisy. Based much on Organic foods with a rustic, cafe-twist, micro-brews, an extensive wine list and the vibe of a coffee house and bar combined, the Raven has many good ideas, and I admire them for their sustainable roots and the choices they offer. I believe in supporting local businesses and buying organic. However, again, the customer satisfaction is lacking and I wonder, is it even important to them? Just a smile would go a long way. Even though good service and good food are important to people like me, maybe there would be no incentive for the Raven to change. They are plenty busy. Would it really be so hard for the Raven to define itself? The fact that it is a coffee house with the loudness of a bar is what irritates me. Maybe that works for some people. Would it really be so hard to provide good food and excellent service? The coffee is great, but would it kill the Raven's reputation to serve it with a smile? read more

Super beer selection; they have obsidian stout ON TAP(my favorite beer). The food was good. Maybe it's because I ordered a club sandwich, but it seemed sort if average. I suppose there isn't that much you can do to spruce up that sandwich. Prices were around 10$ for lunch entrees, which seems high for Prescott, given that you can get a much fancier meal for less at most of the other places in town. We were given a recommendation of Raven by our Vacation Rental owner. I wanted a burger after running the Whiskey Row (half) marathon but did not want to feel to guilty about it. Although the place was busy we were able to find a seat for our large family (4 kids). My son and daughter LOVED the nachos, and my baby was happy with the kids quesadilla. My older daughter said she liked her chicken pita. My burger was a little dry but the sweet potato fries were great, as were the onion rings. The two young men that were helping around the restaurant were excellent as was the woman that helped me bring my drinks to the table. My 4 year old spilled her drink and they were so nice about helping us clean it up and did not seem bothered. While I was cleaning up the little messes my kids had made the bus boy told me not to worry about it at all. They were so accommodating to my large family with little kids. My husband, who was rather hungry, took several bites of his ruben before he noticed they forgot the meat. I sent it back and the cook accused my husband of eating all the meat and would not admit he just forgot to add it. The waiter who brought our food back to the kitchen was extremely nice about things and took very good care of us, but I was disappointed that the cook did not own up to his mistake and made accusations about my husband. Upon getting his meat we knew for sure he would not have just eaten it and asked for more. It was a bit dry. All in all the wait staff was amazing and very sweet.
