Just AMAZING!!!!! We heard rumor the same folks that own Martanne's in Flagstaff moved into the location formerly occupied by Lone Spur. HECK YEAH, same folks!!!! Same fun atmosphere as Lone Spur. But, most importantly, .... CHILAQUILES ala Martanne's!!!! Get 'em "Fratelli style"... green sauce with the extra pork green chile on top... best breakfast ever. My honey got the chicken fried steak and eggs. Crazy huge portions: chicken fried steak, two eggs, hash browns... and wait, it comes with a side of biscuits and gravy (or toast if you prefer). I stopped in around lunchtime on a Friday. Sign out front says Lone Spur but that's a previous owner. There were a few other tables seated. Hostess was friendly and seated me quickly. Cute western and historic west items on the walls. The menu has a ton of good things and I ordered the fried masa tacos with carne asada filling. The service took a little longer than expected. The tacos were unique and tasty. It sort of fell apart quickly but I finished up with knife and fork. Filling and sides were fresh and good. Prices are fair. Food was average. I ordered eggs with corned beef hash. It was mashed potatoes with some chopped veggies and pieces of corned beef. When it arrived it sort of looked like an argyle sock had been laid on the plate. Not too appetizing. I atge it anyway for reference. Never again. Too their credit, their coffee was good.. Service was prompt and friendly. All the staff were engaging and positive. The food is good. Serving size is big. I'll be skipping lunch. I love the location right in the heart of downtown. This place is truly worlds above the old Lone Star Cafe that was in this space. Similar in the cowboy/western decor only. I had the John Wayne(pork chili verde and eggs). I would recommend it. We have been driving by this place seeing large crowds of people outside for sometime now, so this past weekend it was cold and rainy so we decided this would be a good chance to go without the crowds. Super cute place really love the decor and the staff are super friendly, but I'm afraid the food really wasn't that good. First off, everything kind of tasted like apple cider vinegar. It's like they washed the dishes in vinegar or something. The corn beef hash was really corn beef lunchmeat they chopped up with some mashed potatoes and other ingredients, it also tasted like apple cider vinegar. Someone at our table got biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were actually more like dumplings. They really weren't baked and they were like little blobs of dough about the size of small meatballs. The gravy was flat, and lacked flavor. I really wanted to like this place. The staff was so friendly and upbeat, the decor is so cute, and I also really liked the creativity in the menu making references to cowboy movies, but gosh, they really need to make a change in the kitchen. read more

There was nothing great about this place. Nothing Terrible per se, but it all adds up. My monte cristo bread was soggy, which is odd since it came out 7 minutes before my wife's entree. The waitress did check back once, but never again to refill our drinks which were empty. Then we waited about 5 minutes to get her attention to bring the bill. It was not busy and we could see her in the wait station. All of these are fairly forgivable, however, the bill is not. 3.5% credit and debit fee. If you are actually paying 3.5% then you should contact your processor or bank and find a new one. Square charges 2.6 and 25 cents, no to mention this is quite arguable what is know as the cost of doing business, many local banks will drop rates to compete to get your business. Finally, they charged 49 cents for a 6" clamshell togo box. Really? You can get them for 17 cents on eBay, or one of several distributors I called and they are less than 10 cents per. So not only are you charging for cost of doing business, but also profiting from that? You have no business being in the restaurant business and I suspect you won't be for long. Terrible service! We were greeted by a person yawning in our face. It took forever for someone to take our order & they were not friendly. We ordered eggs benedict & it came without ham. When the server came to check on us, she said she would have it fixed. She returned the same plate & a side of a ham steak. To make matters worse, we also ordered a side of ham for another person & they didn't get theirs for over 20 minutes. By that time, they were full & didn't touch the ham. I've been twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Breakfast I had the avocado toast and it was 10/10. Beautiful presentation and delivered on taste. The breakfast plate is served with two eggs and fruit (bananas, strawberries, grapes, and blueberries. I LOVED that there was no cantaloupe in this fruit mix). You can also order it a la carte. Husband got the huckleberry omelette and he quite enjoyed it. There was a huge portion of hash browns and he upgraded from toast to a buttermilk pancake. The pancake was perfect. Had a slight crisp around the edges and was light and fluffy in the middle. Our server was attentive and our food came out incredibly fast. When I came for lunch the service was still good but slow. I got the Mac and cheese and didn't love it. Not something I would order again but definitely have had worse Mac and cheese here in town. My friend had the jalapeño popper sandwich and while she said it was good, she had a very hard time eating it because it was so sloppy. The bread wasn't crispy and it didn't hold together the way a grilled cheese would. She wound up having to fork and knife it. The ambience is standard cowboy breakfast spot. It appears clean and isn't cramped and crowded. They are still working out the kinks but definitely a place I'd come back to. read more

Went for lunch, first time there, the Cajun creamy potato sausage soup wasn't Cajun at all, it was cheese soup with sausage, no seasoning no Cajun spices, terrible. The biscuits and gravy were awful, the canned gravy from Walmart is better. The gravy was watery, I asked for a side and it came in a ramekin and it wasn't thick like a gravy should be. My wife's French toast was good with the toppings and the accompaniments. The part that gets me is they automatically charge the 3.5% for the C & D on your total even if you are paying cash, I honestly don't think we will be eating here again. read more

The food quality was the saving grace of this restaurant, We went on New Years Day and they were understaffed. we waited over 10minutes at our table before asking for a staff member for server assistance. Nice breakfast/lunch place - conventional menu - no gluten-free baked goods available. Had fried eggs done perfectly except they were room-temperature. The chicken-fried steak was good, a little over-salted. Sausage gravy was good but the biscuits were dry and cold. Had to ask for butter. The decor is nice but all of the ceiling fans were running on a cool morning, I needed a blanket from the car to stay warm. Service was a bit spotty, had to keep asking for things (silverware, napkins etc) Empty plates were not removed by server. Server staff wears street clothes with some interesting and distracting implications. The bathrooms were neat, clean and fully-functional although small and bare-bones. The hallway to the restrooms was dark and unlit, heed your steps. Be aware of a 3% surcharge for credit cards (which automatically appears on check before the sales tax and is included in the sub-total). Also there is a charge for take-out containers but no charge for splitting items. Overall a decent place to eat but needs work all around. read more

Arrived at 9:45 for breakfast was told 15 to 20 minutes tops. Was finally seated 35 minutes later. Waited at the booth for another 5ish mins for water to arrive. Knew what I wanted (as we waited double the wait time). I told the waitress we were ready to order and she said she'd be back to take our order and arrived in another 5 mins. Finally ordered and food arrived within 15 mins and was decent. (Also, some spoons with your silverware would be cool). The to go container was a paper plate with foil. Pretty chintzy as the yolk leaked through. Perhaps I was just really hangry and hadn't had my coffee yet. However, from someone who used to work in a restaurant, give a longer wait time, when your table arrives TELL them you'll be with them in a few. Retired local often eat out for breakfast, looking for Big Sur replacement. Eating experience on Monday O8/18 @ 730 was a total fail. Ordered 2 coffee, hash disk with eggs over easy plus English muffin. Coffee was served Luke warm at best, cup for my guest only 2/3 full. Sent back. Food was one star. Eggs were stone cold, served on a cold plate. Corn beef hash was mysterious, not good. English muffin had something other than butter on it; not good. Went here for breakfast. The water is undrinkable - it had a terrible taste. We ordered the double blueberry pancakes, one biscuit with gravy, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and sausage. The pancakes were served with cinnamon butter - regular butter would have been preferred. The pancakes didn't have much flavor. The biscuit and gravy were very salty and not very flavorful. The scrambled eggs were greasy, and the sausage patty was tough. The best part of the breakfast were the hashbrowns. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We were greeted and seated quickly, and the server was very pleasant and efficient. Cowboy Kitchen has only been open about a month. Hopefully they will take a bit of constructive criticism to heart and make some improvements. Would really like to see them succeed. read more

Three of us ate there for breakfast and the food was delicious! What was disappointing was the cleanliness of the bathroom and the fact that they charge you for containers for takeout. I am in my 60s and this is the first time I've ever heard of charging for takeout containers. Also, there's a 3% charge if you use your credit card.
