Definitely one of the best sushi spots around. Made an order for pick up by phone. This place is always busy so I recommend ordering ahead of time. Ordered the usual items, garlic edamame which is a busy, and then the bts roll and dantes inferno. Everything was great. Tasted fresh. This place will always be my go to for fresh sushi.

This is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant around. The garlic edamame is out of this world! I could literally drink that sauce lol it's always busy inside but that's because the food is just that good! Sushi is always fresh as well I love the Dante's inferno roll definitely one I order all the time. If I ever feel like switching it up they have so many other rolls I love as well the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, crunch dragon roll, golden shrimp roll all sooo sooo good!

Unsure how I feel about my favorite restaurant after my last visit. The food was very good as usual, but the Dante's roll does seem to be smaller with a higher price point. Our service left a lot to be desired, one issue is that they seem to short staff the waitresses and I only saw 2 or 3 for the whole restaurant. I'm sure these women could be more efficient if they weren't assigned so many tables. I had to ask for water three times, and never got the box I asked for so I ended up just finishing off my edamame so it didn't go to waste. The cocktail menu also has no prices, and I was floored to discover that my small cocktail was $16! Raw had great food, but some things could definitely be improved !

Raw is solid for a nicer dinner downtown. Food is consistent and delicious. The setting is upbeat and lively.

Place is super busy. Host was very nice though. They will call you when your table is ready. Waitress didn't seem very happy and was super emotionally so didn't quite set the scene for the place. Probably would've had a better time and stayed longer if we had a different waitress. Food is OK. The teriyaki chicken seemed to have a lot of sauce on it though I didn't quite enjoy it as much. They have a heavy pour on the drink so that's always a good thing. The roll in the picture I honestly can't remember what it was. again it was just OK.

We made a reservation for Valentine's day. It's highly recommended. The restaurant was packed. We have a favorite booth that we love to sit at. It happened to open up and we ended up there. It worked out perfectly!

Im soo happy to have finally found my go to spot for Sushi locally!!! We moved to Modesto from LA 2yrs ago amd we had been looking for a local sushi place, tried others that people suggested but nothing would hit the spot! My coworker recommended I come here and honestly kudos to her!! We got there 10mins before opening on a Friday night and there were 4 parties ahead of us already! We were seated promptly once they opened our waiter was attentive and efficient. The rolls were delicious, the garlic edamame was soo flavorful! 10/10! Lights are dimmed, it's pretty loud in there but didn't bother us. They have a full bar, they do not have any dessert options bummer! We will definitely be returning!

We come here pretty frequently but finally got to sit at the bar this time and let me tell you it was better than sitting at a table. Our server (Sarah) was very tentative and made sure we were fine. The drinks were delicious and so was the food. The other times we came we sat on a table but the servers don't really come check on us. We will definitely be trying to sit at the bar and requesting the same bartender especially because she made good drinks.

Came here for lunch after work. I ordered the gin drink, I believe called the Spritz. It was strong! I ordered the California Roll and the crunchy rainbow roll. Both were yummy and filling. We loved eating here. Can't wait to try more rolls next time. P.S. the Japanese version of pot stickers were good.

Celebrating a birthday in the 209, Raw Sushi seems to be a spot that a lot of locals frequent, and I get why, the food is solid! We came on a weekend, and the wait time was around 45 minutes for dinner. If you are able to snag a reservation, it's definitely worth it because this place gets packed. With the wait, we started with some drinks at the bar. Modelos are like $6.50 and cocktails are around $15-20. The jalapeno margarita isn't overly spicy but they are strong. Opt for a salt or tajin rim for some extra flavor. Once we sat down, we ordered the spicy edamame for the table to share. And I don't know what they put in that sauce, but damn, I crave these edamame all the time. Good balance of spicy and creamy, 1000% recommend. For dinner my SO and I split a chicken katsu plate and their dante's inferno roll. The chicken katsu was good, although I wish they offered a pork tonkatsu instead. The plate comes with a generous side salad and rice. The dantes inferno roll was just as good as last time. The crispy fried jalapenos are a nice touch. It's one of those rolls that we order every time we visit. If you look at the pricing, it seems kinda steep for the 209, but I think the portion sizes more than make up for it. The portions are huge and most things are enough for two meals for smaller appetites. This is one of those spots that I wouldn't hesitate visiting or recommending if you find yourself in the area.

If you want to take your significant other out for a nice intimate dinner, this is not the place. Heard that this place had great food so I wanted to take my wife out for a nice dinner date. Even though the waitlist was about an hour we decided to wait. It was obvious how loud this place was as soon as we walked in. We were seated next to a table of 8 individuals. Immediately after being seated it was apparent that this table were be extra loud and belligerent, specifically one of the guys. We politely asked the waiter if we could be moved to a table away from this party. Even another table next to us asked to be moved. The waiter was able to move the table of 4 sitting next to us to another table but informed us that he was not able to find a table for us. By the time our food came out we were so fed up with this large party next to us being so loud and obnoxious, that we just told the waiter to box our food up. I'd rather just enjoy my food in the comfort of my home. We couldn't enjoy ourselves. Just observing other tables around this loud table it was apparent that we weren't the only ones displeased with how loud they were being. I wish the management had a little more control of their establishment when it comes to situations like this. Food was ok, not good enough to put up with the environment you are trying to enjoy it in.

I got the fried Philadelphia roll and it looked like this. Very disappointing. The garlic edamame was really good though.

We got the Crab Puffs, 49er Roll, a few Ichi Ban Maki Rolls, a few Crunchy Munchy Rolls, a Lion King Roll, a Philadelphia Roll, Miso Soup, and some more but you get the point. The food was ready quite promptly for pickup despite the extremely large order and it being a packed Saturday afternoon. Everything was perfect. The food that was hot stayed hot, the chilled dishes stayed cold. Every single thing tasted great. I was especially impressed with the Crab Puffs. They were completely stuffed with the filling (which I definitely can't say the same about from other restaurants)! They provided a ton of chop sticks and soy sauce packets which is much appreciated. We couldn't decide which one was our favorite so we scarfed them all down as fast as we could to indulge in the amazing flavors! I would say I leaned most towards the Crunchy Munchy roll! This place really "rolled" its place into our hearts!

Torii's - Where the Room Finds Its Rhythm (and You Find Yours)…read more There is something about Torii's that does not announce itself--it reveals itself. I came in like I usually do... no expectations, just present. And that is when this place tends to meet you halfway. Karaoke here is run by the Tipsy Chiks--Angie with Scotty 2 Hotty--and what they have built isn't just a rotation, it is a flow. You can feel it when the room settles in. No rush, no pressure... just a steady current that lets people be exactly where they are. Scotty 2 Hotty keeps things smooth behind the board. Sound is consistent, fair, and dialed in enough where you can trust the mic. That matters more than people think. It gives you the space to either step forward--or just ease into your song without forcing anything. And Angie brings that balance on the front end--welcoming without hovering. It is a subtle thing, but it sets the tone. You do not feel watched... you feel included. The crowd? A mix. Some regulars, some first-timers, some people just figuring it out. And that is the beauty of it--there is no single "type" here. You can go big, or you can go inward. Both land. I have had nights here where I just sang for myself... and somehow the room came with me anyway. Not loud. Not over the top. Just present. That is a rare thing. Bartenders Alexis and Sherry keep it grounded behind the bar--quick, aware, and real. No fuss, just good energy. Torii's doesn't try to be the loudest room in town. It is something better. It is a place where, if you let it, you will hear yourself a little clearer. I will keep coming back.

We came around 8:44 pm on a Friday night and they still accepted us to dine in but had to sit at the sushi bar which was fine. I had the chicken teriyaki dinner plate and upgraded to the vegetable tempura at an extra charge with steam rice (though you can get fried rice. My wife got the chicken katsu dinner and vegetable tempura also. Dinner plate comes with salad and miso dressing- which is a bit like thousand island in color and taste. As well as miso soup. Reason this is my go to Japanese restaurant is I like how their chicken teriyaki is cooked. It's basically char grilled , dark meat which gives it the best flavor. And the teriyaki sauce is a bit thicker and stays on the meat compared to another Japanese place I've reviewed that I didn't like their watery sauce. Service was great. They didn't rush us to finish our food and our waiter informed us about the kitchen closing in 10 mins and asked if we wanted anything else. So that was nice. Overall, definitely recommend this place if you like to order chicken teriyaki. My wife's katsu looked good and she enjoyed what she ordered.
