Other than that: service was decent and quick and they were fairly up front about the price. The Also, not a big deal, but they don't have a waiting area, so you have to sit out in the hot sun while the work was being finished (major downside in austin summer). Overall: Going here was a mistake. They've gotten good reviews in the past for being a solid budget used tire place, but something must have changed in recent years.. Not a terrible place, but nothing to write home about. If you want a great deal/experience -- i had great luck with Austin Tireman a few months back. Very up front about prices, honest, very affordable, good quality, excellent service, no bs experience, you will leave feeling good, and they have a waiting area. They've got my business in the future and all my friends/family. (i would've gone there instead, but they were closed that day)

It did not (like a child digging in their heels). At this point, I accepted that my car had entered its "I'm tired and I quit" era. Cue roadside assistance....Alpha Roadside Services and Battery. Thankfully, help arrived before I had time to spiral into Googling "How to survive permanently stranded in your driveway." The roadside assistance technician showed up calm, professional, and completely unfazed by my dramatic retelling of events. Within minutes, they diagnosed the issue, got things sorted out, and brought my car back to life like some kind of automotive wizard. What could have turned into a full‑blown inconvenience (or emotional breakdown) ended up being quick and painless. No lectures, no eye‑rolling...just efficient help and a running vehicle again. The car was not tired, but the battery was a bit weak. While roadside service was free through our insurance plan, we had to pay for battery, which was reasonably priced. Thanks to roadside assistance, my car is no longer staging protests, and I can once again go about my day pretending this never happened. They sent Jimmel with Alpha Roadside and he was there within the hour. He quickly diagnosed the issue (dead battery) and even offered a replacement there on the spot. But.... I figured such convenience would come with a premium and that I could get a better deal at Auto Zone, so I passed and just asked for a jump. Big mistake!! When I got to AutoZone, they didn't even have a 5yr battery for my truck. The 4yr they had they said "would work" but wasn't fitted properly for my vehicle so "might move around" (say what???). AND their batteries were more expensive. So I called Jimmel and he offered to meet me at my house where he got me taken care of in a jiffy. Better batter, lower price, more convenient and it comes with the same warranty you'd get when buying at a store like Auto Zone or anywhere else. Plus Jimmel is just a super nice and very friendly person to deal with! Will definitely call Alpha Roadside next time I'm in need!

I got great quick feedback about the repair needs and was recommended for an oil change. I noticed on the vehicle repair report that was texted to me that the technician clocked my vehicle mileage at about 41,000. I deep down knew that wasn't correct, but when I saw it clocked in the report, I just thought I must have misremembered the mileage. So I okayed the oil change. Service was very quick and I was notified that my car was ready same day that I agreed to the repairs. I do love that, because I hate being without my car. So they get 3 stars still for quick service. Fast forward to the morning I picked my car up. It was 8 am, and the manager Adrian Perez starts laying into me hardcore mansplaining for 8 minutes about my poor choice of not getting an oil change at 5,000 miles. He could tell by my body language that I was not receptive, backed off for a second, and then laid into me for another 5 minutes, lecturing me about different engine types, how his truck's engine is superior to my car's little engine, and blah blah blah. I could tell the millennial tech Andy was cringing while his boss proceeded to spew this patriarchal bullshit at me. Anyhoo, I'm polite while listening to the manager's diatribe. I just want to get my car and go to work. Finally, when I get in my car, I realize my gut feeling was correct: my car only has 36,000 some odd miles on it, and I found the oil change sticker Lambs gave me, which stated that I WASN'T DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE UNTIL 38,000 some odd miles. So, I'm not mad that they got my mileage wrong, and I paid for an early oil change. I'm pissed that Adrian Perez talked down to me like I was a child. I'm a grown ass woman and paying customer. A simple "We recommend an oil change every 5,000 miles" would have sufficed. I update my review to warn women: Adrian Perez may mansplain shit to you. But the other guys at the shop so far seem respectful.

They even checked my tires for free once when the light came on; luckily it was just due to change in air temperature. It can be intimidating to go to an auto repair shop, especially as a single woman, but the folks there never talk down to me or pressure me on high-cost repairs. I also love that I get to see photos of things that do need a repair though, little touches like that help build trust!

They operate 24/7, and unbelievably, they did not charge extra for an after-hours emergency call, nor was there any type of travel fee. This alone speaks volumes about their integrity and customer care. I had a blowout in my kid's Tesla on a Friday night around 9:30 PM, and within 45 minutes of calling, they were already on-site changing the damaged tire. I assumed they would put a slightly used tire on, however it was a brand new tire. The total cost for their services was less than what I would have paid at a tire shop just to purchase one tire, which is incredible given the convenience and speed. The only reason I went back to discount tire today to use the road hazard warranty that I had purched when replacing these tires last month was purely for my OCD ways and wanting my set of 4 tires to match. The two technicians who arrived were extremely polite, professional, and understanding, knowing how eager we were to get safely back on the road. The payment process was also seamless -- they accepted Zelle, making it one of the easiest parts of an already smooth experience. Huge thanks to David and his coworker for their outstanding service and for getting us back on the road so quickly. I will absolutely recommend this company to anyone who needs tire service. Exceptional experience from start to finish!!!

It's a small place but seems quite equipped to manage a lot of car issues, and the gentleman who did my inspection that day (Charlie) was the sole person doing them, so he was cranking through a list of folks. They put your name on the clipboard when you arrive and just go straight down that list. I'd called beforehand to confirm their hours and theyd advised to come early so I came around 9a or so. I think the wait was about 15-20 mins? Really wasn't bad, I just fiddled with my phone and sat in my car. The actual inspection was also pretty fast, like 10 mins or maybe even a bit less. I appreciated the efficiency. Of note they do charge a 3% credit card fee. A lot of places do that nowadays, but that was really the only "surprise." They also offer a basic inspection ($12, basics to renew car reg) or a more thorough one for $18 where they check your wipers and lights etc.

Life savers!!!! I was in Austin visiting family, and just my luck I got a nail in my tire. I decided to take it to a tire place I wont mention their name, but they told me that I would need to replace my tire. Not really having money to spend on a new tire I opted to put my spare on and try to see if I could find a used tire. As I am driving down the road I see this Rent A Tire. Not knowing what it is I decide to stop by and check it out. I walk in and immediately I get greeted. I explain my situation and let them know that I don't have much money because I am from out of town and I would really appreciate it if they could help me out. They explained the entire program and to my surprise I did not know that this existed. The manager said that he would check my tire and see if it could be repaired. I told him that the other place told me that I had to replace it, but he said he would still check it out. Luckily I had ran over a nail and it was right in the middle of the tire. I guess the other place saw a woman and decided that they can just say anything to get a sale. Anyway they took my car right in fixed the tire and I was out with in 30 minutes. I offered to pay for the repair and the manager told me that they do free flat repairs. Thank you Rent A Tire!!! read more

I can't even begin to tell you how satisfying it was to work with these guys. Especially Steven. Long story short, I walk in, there's another guy who wants the rims I was looking at. They only have one set. So, the guy get's them, they try to fit it the rims on his truck, they don't fit Because the Caliper is rubbing, So they work with this other guy for a while to find a good fit for his brand new 2016 Tacoma, he was extremely happy with how they were trying to work with him and me to get us both happy and out the door, so was I. It DID take 5-6 Hours to finally get everything settled, But the wait was well worth it and I wouldn't recommend any other place to go other than rent-a-tire. But make sure you come to this one, and ask for Steven. You'll have mind blowing customer service and they won't let you walk out the door until you're happy! read more

I needed new tires quick before making a road trip. walking up they have a speaker blaring loud music and I had my Autistic daughter with me and it hurt both our ears! The process was easy and took about 2 hours. The gentlemen couldn't get a lug nut off one of my tires so we were sent home and my husband had to get it off and come back to get the last tire on. They give you a nice bag filled with some vehicle goodies. The customer service was great. we had an issue of the contract not being told to us the proper way and I called the General Manager who took care of it the same day and corrected an overpayment charge. Overall I would keep a good eye on in your payments and the contract before signing anything. I would recommend if you need tires in a pinch you can go enjoy lunch. read more

I was referred to Rent-A-Tire by a friend and was thoroughly pleased that he did! The new manager George was completely professional and his staff Stephen and mechanic Demetriac went above and beyond to help me find the right wheels and tires for my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. At one point I thought that I was going to leave with nothing because the break calipers were too big on my truck and rubbed on the rims I initially chose. With a little trouble shooting they helped me find the correct wheels and even gave me a discount because of the extended wait; the manager George even bought me something to drink while I waited for my truck to be serviced. Went to these boys looking for new rims. The rims I wanted were not there in stock. At least, not in that location. However, they went out of their way to make a customer (Me) happy and made some calls and was able to get the rims there. I was able to ride away with the rims I wanted. The customer service there is great. I know them boys work long hours, but you couldn't tell. They kept smiles on their faces and the atmosphere good. Needless to say... But I will anyways.. Haha.. Me and my husband came in looking for rims for our Mazda tribute and found some that we liked but was told we would have to order them which was fine but Lauren went the extra mile and got me something that was comparable to them to ride on, in the mean time. Customer Service was great, the person stated, I would get a call later in the week after the insurance company checked the car to see what the total damage will be. Never received any calls from Crash Champion. Only received a call from USAA, which was the person, who was at fault, insurance, stating they need my authorization to pick up my SUV to get fixed. I was confused, told them my car is at Crash Champion, waiting to be fixed and can be fixed there! The representative from USAA, stated, "didn't Crash Champion, tell you that the car can't be fixed, it's TOTALLED!" I was like "WTF"! My car is drivable.. I was rear ended! Basically, USAA, wanted my permission to tow my SUV, so they can salvage and chop up my car for parts. I was upset, cause Crash Champion, never reached out to ... NO Communication what so ever! My SUV only needed a new rear bumper and new rear 3rd gate! That's it! Went to pick up my SUV at Crash Champion, I asked the lady in the front, "how much will it cost to fix my SUV, I will pay cash to you guys to get it fixed". She said "we cannot fix it for you here, you would need to take it to a mom and pop shop", I was shocked. Basically.. translate to... we want more money from the insurance company than what it really cost to fix it. I was able to have my SUV fixed from another collision place in Austin, the cost was only $1,400 with parts and labor. Sucks for Bastrop residents that they are only one of the two big auto collision repair shops. This place needs to work on customer service.. lack of communication, I was never notified and my attorney that was handling my auto accident case, was never notified!

He called us back promptly within the hour. But my husband couldn't understand him over the phone, so I took the call. He said everything looked good except there was only one quart of transmission fluid. Because I know next to nothing about cars I agreed to him "changing the transmission fluid" for $120. When I relayed this to my husband he said "there is no way that van could shift gears on one quart of transmission fluid, I just changed the fluid six months ago and checked it last week, its fine". So I called back but couldn't communicate to him that we wanted him to do nothing. So by the time we got there he had already drained the fluid out and we were required to pay for him to install new fluid. My husband is entirely confident he drained the fluid just to have something to charge us for. Then came time for payment. With no warning: Cash only. Well, who carries $120 in cash? So he called some sort of service and took my card payment over the phone, which seemed to be a legitimate exchange but who knows. And so we left with a still wobbly car having wasted several hours and given $120 to a swindler. Never to return again.

Appalling abuse of a female driver!…read more The indicator on my girlfriend's Audi A4 was showing a low tire pressure on the driver's side rear tire. She stopped at this station to ask them to check her tires. She said a few attendants came out to her car. They added some air and then asked if she needed gas. She mentioned that the oil indicator showed adding a quart. They opened the hood (off course Audis do not have dipsticks) so they could not check it. They told her she shouldn't add any oil. The men charged her $79.11 for gas. 12.69 gallons at $6.295 a gallon. Outrageous upcharge! This was over $2.00 more per gallon than any other Shell station in Austin. I checked the tires when she got home and they didn't even fill them to the recommended tire pressures. On top of that the did not replace a custom tire valve tip on her car. We will have to purchase a new set.

Every time I called, I got a different story about where my car was or what I needed to do. On top of that, they had inconvenient hours and made it feel like I was the problem for trying to pick up my own vehicle. There was zero sense of urgency from their side, and the whole process felt disorganized and unprofessional. What should've been something quick and simple turned into a stressful, time-consuming ordeal. I wouldn't trust them again and definitely wouldn't recommend dealing with them if you can avoid it.

I had to run down the street to get him to come back to jump it a second time. While it did work out in the end. I wouldn't recommend spending the $100 to have them come out to jump your car. If you have a similar experience you might not be driving away and you'll likely not be treated professionally.
