I had my left top rearmost molar removed by Dr. Chicola. It healed up very quickly, has never given me any problems. Highly recommended!

I was to owe $50 for my deductible and that was it. Now, well after the fact and with insurance involved, I am being told I owe more. In fact, I have received more than one letter outlining different amounts that might be due. One dated 1-12-26 says "Please pay $2,335.00 by 2-2-26". Another dated 1-20-26 claims I owe $625.00 due immediately. The fact of the matter is, I likely owe nothing, but I needed to get someone from their office to justify to the insurance company why the surgical codes billed were necessary. Such as simple ask, where the answer gets the office paid, and gets me out of the discussion. Win win. But no. It was already unpleasant to receive letters stating that I should provide "immediate attention" to the situation, but even more so when I had to leave a message twice (three days apart) to get someone in the office to respond. Definitely not "immediate". Don't expect me to act "immediately" if your team cannot act immediately. Prior to calling the office, I called my insurance to see what they would say is the issue. The issue is, the office billed for surgical codes and procedures, yet provided no notes to justify why the surgery was needed (as opposed to a simple extraction). When the office representative called me back, she was very short and unsympathetic to my situation. She basically told me it was my problem, and that all the paperwork I received prior said "estimate" so it is what it is. She said your office does not submit "notes" and only submits an x-ray. She told me the x-ray is enough to which I stated it obviously is not.....as here we are. I asked if there was any way to get the justification over to the insurance, and was told perhaps if they wanted to send something....but your rep was not willing to do anything to help facilitate the reconciliation or to make that happen. It is unfortunate, after having trusted your office to help me navigate this journey, that she could be so unwilling to assist or to help provide for some type of mutually agreeable solution. I shared my feelings also about being in the middle between their office and the insurance company trying to mediate but that was of little concern as well. I contacted my insurance again, and ultimately was told that they would pay the claim out, but they do need some type of surgical notes or explanation as to why my teeth had to be surgically removed as opposed to a standard extraction. They provided the attached EOB, and said I could write back with my own narrative as to why the teeth needed to be surgically removed......but I am not sure I am qualified or would provide what they need to justify the charge/procedure. I tried to call the office back, and to speak with someone else to simply see if anyone could help in providing a simple justification statement outlining why surgical removal was necessary. I think this is a simple request to a simple issue, and again hate that a staff member with less than stellar customer service skills felt it appropriate to dump a $625 bill in my lap, instead of working with me to resolve the matter (for all involved). At the time of this review, the issue remains unresolved, and I await a response from the office to see if they will provide me with the justification my insurance seeks in order to pay the claim.

I am submitting this review regarding a dental procedure that took place on 04/02/2025 at Aspen…read moreDental with Dr. Jimenez. I had scheduled an upper wisdom tooth extraction and had opted for IV sedation due to high anxiety and sensitivity around dental procedures. I communicated this choice multiple times before the appointment and had already completed the appropriate paperwork. However, upon arrival, the dental surgeon made several attempts to persuade me to forgo sedation. Despite me stating "no" repeatedly--more than five times--he continued to pressure me, saying things like, "That's like going to sleep for a splinter," that he "didn't feel comfortable sedating me for this," that I'd get a $600 refund, and that the procedure would only take a few seconds. He dismissed my concerns, including fears about hearing drilling or cracking noises. The entire interaction felt manipulative and left me anxious and emotionally vulnerable just before surgery. Ultimately, I did receive sedation, but only after insisting multiple times. The pressure I experienced was inappropriate and felt violating--particularly as a woman and a patient in a vulnerable state. Upon further research, I found that sedation is a common option for extractions. It reminded me of situations where "no" should have been enough the first time. Additionally, the procedure that was described as "just a few seconds" actually took over an hour. I'm writing this review because the dental surgeon's behavior undermined my ability to provide informed consent without coercion. I believe this violates ethical standards and patient rights. I especially want to caution others who may be more passive by nature. Be clear about what you want, and do your research before speaking with this dental surgeon if you're scheduled for an extraction. Don't allow yourself to be convinced otherwise--it is, in fact, unethical for a provider to pressure a patient like this. Had I not been familiar with informed consent and patient rights, I might have given in to that pressure. That said, the rest of the staff at this Aspen Dental location has been amazing. This was my only negative experience. The dental assistant was a godsend--she made sure I was comfortable, gave my husband clear post-op instructions, and kindly listened to my rambling after surgery. She answered our questions thoroughly and with care. The front desk staff and office manager have always been polite and helpful during my visits, and the regular dentist, dental technician, and hygienist have all been respectful, kind, and competent. I'm posting this review simply to offer a heads-up to others who may encounter this same dental surgeon. This was my only negative experience here. The office itself is otherwise great.
