Amazing, seamless, painless and fabulous first experience at Ray Chevrolet! Stopped in on a whim Friday evening just to get a feel for what is out there. Drove home a few hours later as a proud and happy new owner of a VW Tiguan! (Which ironically was the car I wanted in the back of my mind and they just happened to have one! Fate?) I can't express enough how great everyone was and how perfectly everything unfolded. Major kudos to Pete Becker for his assistance. Definitely not your usual expectation of a "sales guy". Personable, funny, down to earth and honestly, was the deciding factor in me making the purchase. He didn't make me feel pressured and made sure I was truly happy with everything before sealing the deal. He was also super kind to my daughter that was with and made her feel like she was included in the experience. I was there earlier this week with my sister-in-law and her husband they purchasing their first car. It was a 2018 Honda Accord that they saw on their website. Before we went out there to see the car they emailing back and forth with the sales person that eventually sell them the car and rip them off!!! They were asking him if he could come down on the price and he would mot budge!! I believe if Im correct to lower it $500, but as I previously stated the sales guy would not budge. We still went out there because they were exited and eager to get their first but no excuse taking advantage of them and I say that because on their it wss adverstised that that came with a sunroof it did not that alone should of taken off atleast $2k dollars for false advertisement there was all kind of scratches all over the car. They only received one key fob. When they went to financing they sold them Gap insurance whice they did not need considering they put down $7k down on a $22k car. They kept trying to push off warranties on them that they didnt want but they kept pushing the issue along with that garbage under coating. And the Gap they sold them that they not need was way overpriced $1200 and they have the audacity to call themselves a small family owned business that's why they didnt come down on the price and to insult to injury the check engine light came on the next day which means that most likely they cleared the codes. Oh yeah unfortunately it wssnt caught until my brother in law was driving home a damn cracked windshiield!!!! I mean WTF??!!! Buyer Beware - Great Sales Pitch, Terrible Follow-Through First and foremost, I'll own our mistake because it's only fair. We bought a vehicle that had clearly been smoked in. We should have never assumed that such a horrendous smell could be removed, and that's on us. Everything that happened after that, however, is entirely on this dealership. We live about an hour and a half away, so after making the trip to purchase the vehicle, we were promised it would be delivered to us a few days later after receiving a thorough professional detail. Instead, the vehicle that arrived looked like it hadn't been touched. There was food and debris throughout the interior, fingerprints, dirt, and surfaces that clearly hadn't even been wiped down. The smell was one of the worst odors you could imagine. Calling it "detailed" is laughable. To make matters worse, they delivered the vehicle with the wrong license plates. We waited several days before finally calling (after the salesman had promised he would send the correct plates as soon as he returned), only to receive an apology and an "Oops, we forgot to send them." We then had to wait even longer for the proper plates to arrive. When we confronted them about the nonexistent detail that had been promised, their solution was for us to drive an hour and a half back to the dealership and leave the vehicle there for several hours. That's completely unreasonable after they failed to deliver what was promised in the first place. Eventually, they agreed to reimburse us so we could have the vehicle professionally detailed locally. We paid for the detail ourselves, sent them the receipt, and have now been waiting weeks for reimbursement. Last Friday, someone from the dealership actually called to ask whether we had received the check. We said no. Now it's Tuesday, and there's still no check. At this point, it honestly feels like it was never mailed and I was right I called again (7/14) and spoke with a woman who I believe said she was the director. She told me the check was sitting on her desk because they were waiting to find out whether we wanted to pick it up or have it mailed. She also claimed they didn't have our address. Really? She also mentioned she had never heard about my issue. I think that's a you problem and I would get to the bottom of why my staff is not informing me of stuff like this. Unless, because you had the check in your hands you really did know why I was having these issues. (The check finally arrived on 7/18) We just purchased a $16,000 vehicle from you. We've been going back and forth for weeks about all of these issues, yet somehow you don't have our address? Or a phone number to call and ask for it? And if that was truly the issue, why did the general manager call on Friday asking whether we had received a check that supposedly hadn't even been mailed yet? The most frustrating part of this entire experience is the complete lack of follow-through. Everyone is friendly while they're selling you a car. The showroom is full of guys in polos and khakis who know exactly what to say to earn your business. But once the paperwork is signed, the promises stop meaning anything. Every single issue has required us to chase someone down. Every promise has required multiple phone calls. Every mistake has been met with an apology instead of accountability. At what point is a customer allowed to lose their patience? We've been more than reasonable. We've been patient. We've given this dealership every opportunity to make things right, and somehow every step has turned into another hassle. Buying a car is a major purchase, and the experience shouldn't end the moment you drive off the lot. Good customer service is measured by what happens after the sale, and that's where this dealership has completely failed us. If you're considering buying a vehicle here, just know that the sales process may sound great, but don't expect the same level of care once they've got your money. As for the dealership, please don't reply with another canned, "We're sorry, and we'd like to make this right." That seems to be the response to every negative review you receive. Instead of focusing on schmoozing customers as they walk through the door, focus on follow-through and accountability. Communicate with your employees, set expectations, and figure out why so many promises are falling through the cracks. It's too late for us. I would never purchase another vehicle from this dealership, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone else. What's done is done, and this has been an expensive lesson learned. I hope your dealership learns something from it as well unless no one really cares, which, unfortunately, is exactly how this entire experience has felt. If that's the case... good luck. read more

I took my truck here last week to get an oil change. Normally I go to my mechanic but I needed one done and it was just closer and more convenient for me to come here. The oil change took two hours & I called to ask if they were backed up past an hour when I scheduled and the front desk told me no. They did not charge me for my oil change which was really nice considering the time I spent there. However they did tell me that my truck had over 5300 dollars worth of repairs that needed "immediate attention". I was upset because the last thing anyone wants is to dump money into your car when you least expect it. I took it to my mechanic that is trustworthy and has done great, honest work for my family for over 10 years. My Mechanic called me today after looking over the list of everything the dealership said was wrong with my truck and there was not one issue. Everything ray chevy said was dishonest and trying to get me to pay and purchase parts that didn't need replacing. I would never recommend doing service to your vehicle based on only this dealerships recommendation. I am a woman but I know when a man is being dishonest. At 9:30 at night June 2 which is the last day of their financial before the new promotions come out. I got a phone call from Arnold the manager wanting to complete financing. I told him it was not appropriate to try to push that late. Last month it was 0% financing this is 2.9% financing plus, I also lost $2000 Chevrolet incentives.So the truck was finally delivered to Chevrolet this is not Ray Chevrolet's lot. This is the lot where they transfer all of to the different dealerships. And at that lot the tires were stolen that is not Ray Chevrolet's fault but what is their fault is lyingto me when they knew full well what was going on with the truck. I asked Arnold the manager what was going on and he told me he had no idea when he 100 what was going onhe has no integrity. As far as the salesman goes Hugo in a month and a half. I never once spoke with him. I would call this dealership and they would hang up on me or they would tell me they were going to call back and never did this happened at least 10times probably more without a doubt the most unprofessional car dealership I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They have no integrity in my eyes are no better than a used car lot buyer beware. I gave them a deposit May 12 it is June 27 and I told them today to refund my money. brought my tahoe in with a small coolant leak in the rear vehicle heater. well they charged me over $600 to fix it, but instead plugged it off and now I have no rear heat. Brought it back a second time because the brake lights stopped working, they called and asked to replace the fuel injector wiring. So now I am out over $1800 still have not heat, and they can't tell me why the brake lights don't work. I WILL NEVER BUY A CAR, TAKE A CAR FOR SERVICE OR RECOMMEND THIS CRAPPY DEALERSHIP TO ANYONE. That is expensive (almost $1,000) and I should not have to pay for it since it was the negligence of Ray Chevrolet employee that stripped the bolt. After buying a 2015 Chrysler 200, a few days later I noticed the brakes squeaking significantly. I made an appointment to go back so a technician could look at it. They told me to take it to the Chrysler side. When I pulled up they had no record of my appointment in the system. Then they had to call over to the Chevy side and figure out what was going on. Finally after waiting 20 minutes they told me to take it to the Chevy side because they sold me the car. After waiting an hour the technician and manager came out and told me the brakes were 100% fine and nearly new. Fast forward 6 months later. The brakes never stopped squeaking and I finally had enough and took it for a full inspection at a very reliable repair shop. After the inspection I was shown pictures of the front rotors and pads. The front rotors were completely warped and the pads were also nearly 90% worn. I drove the car a total of 3,000 miles. After calling and speaking to the manager he insisted that the rotors were most likely warped because of the driving and the same with the pads and took no responsibility for neglecting to actually have a technician take care of the issue when I brought it back the first time. I'd be very cautious of buying a car from them and I would definitely have an inspected by a third party before doing so. read more

I'm amazed this dealership is still around. Years back we discovered they were the typical bait and switch outfit that lists a car online for one price, then gets you in the door and gives you a new, inflated price. Plus, their location and lots are down right dangerous. A few months back, I was selling my used car. I received a few offers from local dealerships, and Ray Chevy was HOUNDING me to come in. I was in the area, so I dropped my car off at the appt time I made with them to be checked. First off, they had my appointment time AFTER the service center was closed, so I'd have to come back AGAIN to have the car inspected in more detail, but they assured me they could give an estimate. Annoying, but whatever. I come back an hour later, and they essentially offer me pennies for my car- with a laundry list of things they'd 'need to fix'. Was my car in the greatest of shape? No- but in todays hot used car market, it was worth at least DOUBLE what they offered. To prove that, I went to another dealership across the border, who paid me just that. This place is scummy, scammy, and employs weasels. It is everything you would expect the typical car dealership to be, so at least they are consistent in that respect. Go somewhere else. read more

I recently decided to order a new blazer from Ray Chevy in Fox Lake, IL site unseen. I worked with Gabe Crump on the order and trade in. He was very professional. He talked me through the different options and colors and I placed the order. I had to take a trip from northern Wisconsin to IL this week so called Gabe to see if they had any on the lot I could test drive. They had a new blazer RS. I ordered a blazer premier. I took time to stop at the dealership and Gabe took the time to walk me through all of the features of the blazer. I didn't realize it would have all the different options from stereo to a 360 view camera and so on. I was thrilled with my order. I asked to make one slight change to add a sunroof. Even though the order was already placed, the dealership took care of adding it to the order. Now I just have to wait for it to come in. read more

My Grandmother bought a vehicle from them and they lied about everything. What they told her was completely different then on the contract. The rushed her to sign it and took advantage of her with hidden fees and marked up prices. This "new" equinox had 4,000 miles on it, sold to her 1500$ above msrp and added $200 to the gap insurance then what was told and a $3600 protection plan. They refuse to return her call, I filed a complaint with the attorney general. I work in the car business as well and this kind of dealer makes us all look bad. I had a horrible experience here! After entering my trucks info in kelly blue book Ray Chevrolet contacted me interested in a possible purchase. Ill start by saying the people i emailed and talked to on the phone were extremely helpful and friendly. I went in and met with a delightful sales person named Tim and knowing this was my first time selling a car he was patient answering my questions and talked me through it all. I was feeling very positive up to this point. Heres where it all went wrong. Tim brings the manager (I believe his name was Jim) over. He approached us with a gruff manner and immediately tells me before inspection that a car this age is going to have issues and would i be willing to take less than the kelly blue book offer of 9,955. because it may have mechanical issues. I said of course but didnt want to take less than 9k and asked can we discuss it after you actually inspect the car. I was honest and said i just had brakes done and was informed i needed struts...but thats all i knew of. I was told, "look i just want to know if you would be willing to take less before we spend an hour of our time inspecting it for nothing" i told him i totally understood and that i wasnt sure of any other work needed to be done...that they were the professionals to pls inspect and then let me know. Tim made me comfortable in the waiting room and i sat for a long time. Finally, Tim tells me there is over 3k in work that needs to be done but is very nice about it. I asked for a list because i couldnt believe it i was shocked. He brings the manager back and the manager starts listing all these things...motor mounts, engine leak, radiator, trans leak, brakes,... i said whoaaa can i please see a list of the work? He says no.. honestly there was so much wrong i didnt have them finish i pulled it... and i said so we are looking a 6k? He said i honestly wouldnt take your car for 6k. I said thank you and left. The happy ending is that i went straight to carmax in kenosha and after they did a full inspection and put my car on the machines...they gave me 11k for my truck even though kelly blue book offered 9,955. They said struts...like i told them and radiator. So if your looking to sell skip Ray Chevrolet and head to carmax!!!! read more

The Sales department are evil snakes. The service department is outstanding only because of the young lady that ran the dept. (or at least the service desk) I've never had such a lousy experience in a sales dept. The guy that we talked to, I won't mention his name, took advantage of my Mother when she went to buy a car there. I had moved out of state for work and had a company car issued so I left my brand new Pontiac Gran Prix here. My Mother had a leased car, and decided to buy instead of lease again. I told her to take my car and use it to help her on her new car. I bought my car for $18,500 it only had about 8200 miles on it. It was a program car. Originally tagged at $28,900. This snake offered her $12K and there was still a loan to cover. For about $14K. He told her he was doing her a huge favor in giving her the $12K and was going to do her an amazing deal on her new shiny Malibu program car. He soaked her. She ended up with a $320 a month bill, he added the $2K still owed on my loan and jacked up the price of her MUCH cheaper Malibu to over $19K plus finance charges. If course they tell little old ladies that it's the best deal anywhere and only good if she bought TODAY! By the time anyone in our family found out what she did, it was too late. She'd done the deal and signed the paperwork. NEVER buy from them! read more

I ended up driving away with a 2011 camaro!! The sales man Austin pequeno worked with me until we found something I could afford and absolutely loved.
