They specialize in preventative, sports, and cosmetic dentistry. I had decades old veneers that needed to be replaced and recently new crowns for my cracked teeth. My teeth now looks amazing! His office staff is so wonderful. Margaret, the hygienist, is gentle and thorough. Ariel, the receptionist, is friendly and personable. Moved to the area a year ago. Hadn't been to the dentist in 18 months. As always, kind of dreaded the visit...and the inevitable scraping of my teeth. But I had such a pleasant appointment, I just had to share here on Nextdoor.com. Dr. Ray Padilla's Dental Practice is wonderful. They have a very nice waiting room, with water, coffee, tea. Staff is EXCELLENT all around! Dr. Padilla was comforting, knowledgeable, spent a good amount of time with me showing me each tooth on the X-rays and explaining what he was looking for. Margaret the hygienist was wonderful. Calming, gentle, and a provider of a lot of good information all delivered in her soothing voice. I was comfortable enough with my first visit, to schedule a filling for my front tooth for the very next day. And Dr. Padilla did an excellent job with that as well. Loved this practice! Also a side note: upon my arrival, I met a man who had come all the way from North Hollywood! He had been coming to Dr. Padilla for 6 years, and tried someone closer, but didn't like them, so he drove all the way here to the Southbay! Dr. Padilla has been my dentist for 8 years. If you play hockey, you should come here because they are hockey fans and their athletic mouth guards are the best! Much more comfortable and easier to talk with it in. They are not expensive, but do quality work including cosmetic. I haven't had any problems with filings or other work. Dr. Padilla and his staff are fantastic! After years and years of not seeing a dentist, I was dreading going in but knew I had to and now, I'm so glad that I did. Dr. Padilla, Margaret, Jamie and Leslie are consummate professionals. I always feel welcomed, never feel rushed, am never left waiting in the office or chair, and am always confident that whatever procedure I will be having done in that visit will be done well and painlessly. During that first visit, Dr Padilla took a lot of time going over the results of my dental x-rays and outlining a plan of procedures, he made sure that I was well informed and comfortable with everything before starting anything. Since the first visit, I've had several appointments and I have to say that Dr. Padilla does amazing work! The crown and fillings that he's done for me look great and I can't feel a difference from my natural teeth at all. Margaret did a great job with my deep cleaning and she also spent a lot of time explaining what she was doing, and why, and gave some good advice on how appropriate cleaning between visits. RUN!!!! At my first visit I sat down and he comes and sits on his stool and asks, "How are you - (conversationally - ?) ? I answer, "I'm fine." He holds up a hand and says, "I'll be the judge of that." REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Dr Ray Padilla suggested 17 unnecessary procedures. AND showed me a "doctored picture" of a tooth he claimed had a crack/fissure. He said these all represented present or future serious problems and suggested we get right to work setting up several appointments to do extensive, and very expensive ( AND MEDICALLY UNNECESSARY) DENTAL WORK. I went back to my old GOOD dentist ( changed for insurance reasons) and gladly paid cash for a consult. I had demanded my chart from Padilla and told him to include his recommendations and sign his name to it. He gave me my chart with his workup in it, but Padilla refused to include his recommendations and he refused to sign the chart. My dentist told me that some of the reccs might make superficial improvements, but none were medically necessary - fixing cavities, decay, infection, abscesses, etc. With the bogus pix of the "cracked" tooth, my dentist also showed me how Padilla "low angled" the light across the tooth to make the shadow from the tooth's edge fall across the grinding surface - to make it look like and to support his false claim of a crack/fissure across the top of the tooth - SHAMELESS. Padilla goes to American Martyrs and convinced my wife she needed several root canals and crown replacements. He tried to push on her multiple Xray packages claiming they were legally mandatory claiming minimum level of mandated care - (lies). Padilla was only too happy to let me, my wife, or any another frightened (exploits fear) patient pay for, expensive, painful, and unnecessary dental work, at their expense and to his gain. Is this guy the Donald Trump of dentists??? By the way this is a not uncommon practice medical professionals are encouraged to engage in to increase "billing". Marketing consultants call this "Production." BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID!!!! read more

He takes extra time to explain each procedure, and puts all the x-rays and photos on the screen in front of you so that you can understand everything involved in your care.... He also gives options and the likely outcome of each.... His Dental Hygienist, Margaret, is exactly the same way, and they both make "going to the Dentist" a positive and pleasant experience.... There is nobody better. I am a fanatic about my teeth and there is nobody else I would trust them to other than Dr. Padilla. As an indication of what I mean I live 85 miles away from his office (His office used to be closer to me but they moved) and I am willing to make the trek to his office because I always get tremendous care and most importantly the truth about the work that needs to be done. I have been a patient for over 30 years and he has always been there in emergencies, such as when I knocked my front tooth out skiing in Colorado I was able to get ahold of him after office hours and he consulted on the phone with a dentist in CO. Another time I broke teeth playing racquetball and sure enough his answering service patched me into him at 10pm for me to go to his office for immediate care.
