Having been a patient here for over 2 decades, I remember when this office was where SusieCakes is now, well before the Manhattan Village Mall was transformed. Now the office is down the street just under a mile away. Parking can get tricky, especially when appointments are busy like Grand Central Station - the lot in the back is probably the only thing that fries my eggs. So what's the coolest reason to make Manhattan Dental your dental care office of choice? It's not because the word "studio" is in the name. And it isn't because the office is in Manhattan Beach. Nope, the coolest reason is being surrounded by the super dental team here - more specifically Rudy and Stevie. It's quite possible Stevie has THE best patient massage chair. It's so comfy I practically fell asleep during my cleaning. Who doesn't love a gentle massage while you're having your teeth cleaned? I can't wait for my next visit! My visits would absolutely NOT be complete without an interaction with Rudy. I don't know this from experience, but something tells me Rudy is the guy who can calm the nerves of those who are less than okay about a visit to the dentist. Rudy always makes me laugh and I'm convinced he's the brother I never had - he and I are relentless about goofing off and teasing each other. My wife and I have been coming to Manhattan Dental Care Studio for years for our regular teeth cleanings. Before that, it took us a while to find a great dental office where the service and the staff are working on the best interest of the patients, not how much they can bill out of the patient. Suzanne, our hygienist, is always patient and takes a great care of us every visit. She loves to chat and always gives great opinion in general and dental wise. Recently we needed a more complicated procedure; crown restoration. My wife's front teeth (the most important part of the whole face) need new crowns after 20+ years. Dr. Gutierrez handled the procedure with precision and patience. We planed (with dentist, hygienist and ortho) for more than a year because she does not like any errors. Dr. Gutierrez contacted our orthodontist to make sure to plan the procedure according with her Invisalign treatment. He worked meticulously to make sure her front teeth look the most natural. The outcome is great and so far she is happy with the result. The last person we want to shout out is the billing staff; Daisy. She works very hard to make sure my wife is happy with the treatment plan. She was also very patient to revise the plan many time to maximize our benefit and work for our time. read more

I have been using MB Dental Care for a few years and they've always done a great job with teeth cleaning and fitting for Invisalign. But when I recently cracked a tooth and had to deal with another dentists office due to MB being closed on a weekend, I realized just how professional they truly are. After this other dentists office multiple failures, it was obvious I needed to have MB Dental Care finish my crown. Daisy was personable and so incredibly accommodating to my needs, I cannot thank her enough. She got me an immediate appointment to have a new temp crown fitting and a new permanent crown in its place 6 days later (compared to the 5 weeks I was quoted). Additionally, she was upfront and honest about billing and sensitive to personal vs insurance coverage, nothing like what I experienced at the other office. He is an especially nice and kind gentleman dentist, and his credentials outweigh most others in the area. I wouldn't go to this place to go unless you are willing to skip insurance and pay at least 50% of your entire treatment balance upfront before getting to see the dentist. My parents recently moved to South Bay and my friend referred us to Dr Gutierrez. When my mom went in for her appointment, she was asked to pay 50% of her total treatment bill upfront. She told the staff that her insurance pays 80% so she shouldn't have to pay such a large amount upfront. When she asked if the insurance can be billed first and she will pay the amount remaining, the front desk staff (Someone named Steve) was extremely rude to her and said he will have to cancel her appointment. My parents asked to speak to the dentist and were told to go home and call later because the dentist is busy (to note this is my moms appointment time so why is he too busy to talk to her). My parents waited for a call for days and called back a many times but the front desk always said the doctor is too busy and can't talk right now. Then I called hoping to get a hold of the doctor but again I was told and I quote "the doctor is too busy with dentistry and doesn't talk directly to patients" so can only speak to front desk staff. Unfortunately we were never able to get a hold of Dr Gutierrez even after multiple calls. I am not sure if the message was relayed to the doctor. It's too bad because Dr G is actually a great dentist and my dad had a good experience with him but it doesn't matter if you can't get a hold of him when you need. Dr G If you get to read this message and are unaware of this situation, please talk to your front desk staff. Your front desk staff blocking all access to you and acting like gate keepers cannot be good for your business. My parents genuinely wanted to continue seeing you as their dentist but were forced to leave by your staff! read more

More importantly, they do excellent work and stand by it. I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews... I had been a patient for around a year and this is my experience. The last time I went in to get a retainer, and after weeks of back and forth and taking my payment, it turns out they could not make the retainer happen. I had to afterwards follow up with the office a few times to get a refund. Was interesting how making the payment took 2 seconds, but getting a refund took so many follow up reminders. The last visit I had as well, the dentist came to look at my teeth and within less than two minutes of his time, said I had no cavities while referencing x-rays I had taken months prior. The process felt very hurried and not exact. This had been my first dentist appt since my previous one which took place six months ago. The hygienist was also trying to get his attention a few times before he came in to quickly scan my teeth and promptly leave. Definitely not coming back here. read more

I left extra early which meant I got to the office extra early and the receptionist lectured me for being early, But in the past if you arrive late they charge you for the visit and you have to reschedule. I then went to use the restroom where i saw there was no one at exam room that I normally go to. After coming back from the restroom I waited 5 min after my appointment time and was told by the same receptionist that they are waiting for my room to be set up. I was refused as a patient because I did not want to take x-rays while pregnant. This has never been an issue with my previous dentist. I had x-rays at a previous clinic earlier this year, but they claimed that the "quality would not be sufficient" despite the fact there are no issues with my teeth and they were taken at a reputable dentist. I simply wanted a cleaning, but maybe the reimbursement for that isn't worth this dentists time. Saddened to be refused care because of being pregnant. read more

I have been petrified of going to the dentist and not trusting their diagnosis and the pain of any treatment. I came back to Manhattan Dental and it is really the most honest and caring people you will ever work with. The dentist and associates made me feel so comfortable and really pin pointed my anxiety and helped me feel comfortable. They are extremely honest and diligent with their work and truly care about their patients. My teeth are better than ever and they don't push any treatments you don't need.
