This dental organization collects and sells your information. Forcing customers to provide personal mobile number + emails just to make & check-in for an appointment. Zero flexibility on the policy. They already have all your insurance and employer info? Separately they try to force photos as well as X-rays...are they all needed? It increases the bill to you or your insurance. I wasn't able to confirm what's covered by insurance prior to appointment. Dentists were nice but practices are scammy. DDS Christopher Oats should look into their front desk management. read more

Terrible customer service. First of all they triple book appointments. I was left waiting in the treatment room for over 30 minutes. I finally had to go to the front desk to see if a dentist was going to see me. No respect for your time. They also push expensive cleanings. When did cleanings become $4k? Then they had the nerve to suggest that was cheap. A really intensive cleaning could be $8k. Seriously what is going on here? Stay far away from this place. I would give no stars but you have to give one. They didn't take the time to walk through my X-rays to justify this treatment. Not only that but it's a two hour cleaning. Highly recommend this place! I was in so much pain from my wisdom teeth growing out. I had initially gone to a different dentist however, I looked up a second opinion. Tatiana was SO helpful, she went above and beyond to reach out to my previous dentist to get the x rays and reached out to my insurance promptly. She made the whole process go smoothly, she was kind and attentive. Surgeon Armen Pezeshkian was a total delight, very friendly, personable, thoughtful and genuine. This is a terrible practice. I had an exam, lots of X-rays and was told I had no cavities. But I had to make another appointment to have my teeth cleaned. I received no paperwork on any further treatment when I left the exam. When I came back for my cleaning, I found out that the only kind of teeth cleaning they do is for periodontal issues (even if you don't have those issues) and the doctor strong armed me into agreeing to this treatment after I objected and refused it, asking instead for a regular teeth cleaning. After a horrible experience on ONLY HALF OF MY MOUTH, I was charged $385!!! With insurance! My husband was charged $410 for his half a mouth. It's a money making scam for this office. This is one of those offices that will just put you on the more expensive treatment plans that you don't need because they don't make money from insurance off of general cleanings. They wouldn't even do my cleaning and when I specifically requested "I just want my annual cleaning", they got weird about it and then said that "well the dentist is going to do your cleaning then." LOL I don't want the dentist doing my general cleaning!!! The hygienists have way more training and experience to actually clean teeth than a dentist does. When trying to schedule an appointment with them, it's always gonna be 3 to 5 months out. They are just way too busy. They also charge very close to the same with or insurance, that said I put dentist with animal vets in the same category.... way over charge vs other countries. read more

This review is for Dentist Lindsay Kuehl. My daughter had an appointment for "cleaning'. She was given a recommendation for additional treatments, in which she declined at this appointment, as she was just there for cleaning but wanted to get it done on the next follow up. Dentist Kuehl started the cleaning, and that's when it all went south. She was disrespectfu and condescending. She went on saying that she "went to dental school and I know more than you and my recommendations, its like going to a hospital for a broken arm and asking for a band -aid" She also said that "she will only do an "accelerated cleaning as she has other patients". My daughter stated that she was going to come back next time for the treatment, Kuehl then stated " really you are going to do it next time" with a tone of voice as if my daughter was lying. She also went on saying this is "negligent observation"! First of all, It is a recommendation, not a life or death situation, that had to be done at that appointment. We did have her call us back to explain and address this issues. her response was even more unbelievable, she stated " im sorry YOU felt that way"!!! " she was taught to use the broken arm analogy" She assumed no blame of the situation and only said she was sorry that my daughter was offended. Besides that, Dr. Kuehl attempted to blame her front desk staff saying that they never told her that my daughter was coming back. She was passing around the blame, when the front desk was not to blame. Under no circumstances should anyone be leaving a healthcare appointment feeling disrespected and belittled. We then asked for her license number and she begins to laugh (as if this is the most unserious situation ever) and states "you are going to waste your time, I did nothing wrong." My daughter responded acknowdleing that no medical malpractice was done, there was a lack of professional conduct and bedside manner. In which her response was, "well many patients like me" Well maybe because you were not a horrible person towards them, or because they didn't refuse any treatments and didn't mess up your QUOTA. we all know most dental facilities are a money making scheme, but treating your patients like that is totally unnecessary. We were only looking for an honest apology or an acknowledgment that she handled and communicated with her in a very disrespectful and a condescending way. But instead she laughed about it and treated my daughter like she was an imbecile. Horrible service from her, expected much more from this location, but mesmerized how a healthcare professional would talk to anyone that way. I've been a patient there for 7 or 8 years and have been coming in regularly for cleanings and procedures. I have generally been satisfied with my experience. I say generally because Dr Sharma is terrific. The assistants are great as well. They actually care. I had an underwhelming experience with a dentist there a couple of years ago who did a terrible job on a crown and was defensive when I pointed it out. She eventually fixed it after two lengthy visits. The main reason I am rating this low is for the customer service at the front of the house. The attitude has been tolerable in the past but today I walked out and will never set foot there again. I came in for a cleaning but was denied service because I did not want to get x-rays done. The cost is high and I don't see the need to get them done every visit. They wanted to charge me $290 for a cleaning (!). I have a healthy mouth and no dental issues. The American Dental Association recommends a cleaning every 2-3 years for people with no issues. However Ben told me it was protocol to get them done once a year and that the dentist would not see me unless I had them done. The worst part is that they had taken full mouth x-rays when I had my last cleaning 8 months prior. The assistant took them by mistake yet Ben refused to believe me. He said that it wasn't on record and that I had not paid for them so it wasn't relevant. I told them I would have to find another dentist and left. They did not try to work anything out and allowed a long term patient to walk out. I find this absolutely scandalous. X-rays were taken but because I didn't pay for them, they won't clean my teeth?! Outrageous. Any places that has any sense of customer service would have said "lucky you" and welcomed me back. From the first time I went there I thought Hermosa Smiles was aggressive with pushing services on their patients. They are more driven by profits than by the service to their patient. I've been coming to this office for cleanings and check ups for years now. They have gentle cleanings and a very measured approach to dental work. I've had dentists before who were definitely drill happy - not the case at all here. They take all dental work seriously, work great with insurance, super smooth billing and scheduling. Just finished getting a crown from Dr Sharma and it was a wonderful as getting a crown could be. She was super patient, talked me through the whole procedure beforehand, and very gentle. What a joy to be seen by her and knowing she has an excellent standard of care. Definitely recommend this office and the wonderful team there. Especially Ben and Reyes. Worst dentist I have ever been to. The only one thing they are good at is extract as much money as possible from you. I was listening to the conversations while I was waiting, and I counted more "dollar" words than "tooth", which should tell you something. But that is not even the worst - to empty your wallet further they suggest treatments that are not necessary, so always get a second opinion. They wanted to extract one of my teeth, I went to a reputable dentist who said that was not necessary at all. Then they put a crown on one of my molars and did such an amateur job that I had pain for three months and finally had to take a root canal. Run as far as you can!! read more

I went and the hygienist, a nice guy, looked at my mouth visually and made recommendations. A member of the office staff came in and aggressively demanded that I needed extra services that amounted to $1,000. I wanted a teeth cleaning and that was it. I felt extremely uncomfortable and no longer wanted to have my teeth cleaned there. I told them I no longer felt comfortable there and left. No services provided. They gave me xrays and rather than cleaning my teeth they told me i needed "deep cleaning: $1,500 for the top of my mouth and $1,500 for the bottom." I've been going to a dentist RELIGIOUSLY for years and I floss every night. DEEP CLEAN FOR $3K? DEEP CLEAN at all? If anything I probably needed a standard (regular) cleaning. I can't say what the actual dentist is like because I have had so much trouble verifying insurance with the office. I have spent hours trying to get them what they want and verifying and they still continue to tell me she has a HMO when she actually does not and tells me if it is not straightened out prior to coming, they will be me for the visit. This place is honestly running an illegitimate business it feels. My partner checked that this place took his insurance and booked an appt. He booked x-rays, exam & a teeth cleaning. They took the x-rays, did the exam and said he'd have to come back from a teeth cleaning. Okay... I guess. Schedules his teeth cleaning and only when he walks into the office for his second appt that morning they tell him they're having an issue with his insurance. You'd think they'd check these things on the initial appt and not after he books his other appt? Anyways, he leaves and they tell him they'll try to work it out and call him back. They do and say he can come in at 2:15pm. After waiting for 45 minutes they tell him he's not on the schedule... He was going to leave and they said oh okay we can get you in but it's a deep cleaning not a regular teeth cleaning. I told him before he goes in to ask the costs of this after insurance. Thankfully he did because they laid out the costs it was over $600+ for a deep cleaning after insurance. Absolutely insane. I've been going to the dentist 2x a year for a cleaning my whole life and a teeth cleaning with insurance should never cost over $100. I've paid less without insurance.. absolutely insane. Not only is the place completely dysfunctional but they're flat out trying to rob people to get a simple teeth cleaning. Gone are the days of the in the hood family dentist Hermosa Smiles is friendly courteous and massively staffed to receive customers bill customers call and remind customers , email customers, text customers. LIKE S. you can see your account and history online. Don't know who owns this place it acts like a chain. But I love my dentist Dr Sharma she has always been friendly and listens very well. I'm a heart attack patient and had complications and body reactions. My medical Dr had been treating a body rash and mouth and tongue rash irritation. No success. Light bulb flash While on routine dental visit I asked her about it she saw the rash and prescribed a Magic Mouthwash by prescription only as of today I feel 99% better. I've had a partial regular visits medical visits and normal check ups the staff has been professional courteous and friendly. There are at least 4 other dentist and a surgeon specialist here. But Dr Sharma is my go to she's been the Bomb for me. I have been fixed recommended medicated and cured by her. read more

This review is years in the making. I went to Hermosa Smiles for some years per recommendation of a friend of mine. As time went on myself and my children had no teeth issues outside of the simple cleanings, etc. Then the up-selling began and from perfect teeth to I should look into changing my fillings to my children being charge for fluoride treatments we didn't ask for. We still kept going back because we liked the dentist and it was within our cheaper dental plan. Then the dentist kept changing. Within 1.5 years, we had different dentist. The last dentist told me I had a small cavity and should be filled soon. It was a shadowy image on my x-ray. I agreed and was given a cost of over $700 to have it done. The first concern as all of our work was within our benefits. I paid it and went back to get the work done, but I was too uncomfortable and left. I changed my dentist and decided to go to a dentist I trusted years prior before going to Hermosa. After the check-up, of which there was no mention of a cavity nor shadow on my x-rays, I asked about it. The dentist said there's nothing there. Not sure what they saw, but you don't have any cavities nor anything that looks like a possible problem. Fast forward to this past week. My prior dentist retired, and again went to a new dentist. Just had our check ups and NO mention of cavities. Nothing. Now I am not crazy, but two dentist? If there was something there, it would have come up. Hermosa did refund my money, but I will never go back due to the lies the dentist told. To tell someone they need work done when they do not is illegal and they should be ashamed of themselves. Spoke to the office manager - Ben Wong - and he was "just a robot - to collect" I am helping my friend since she has no one to help her.... I told him in this cruel world - we should help our disabled seniors since they do not have their own voice... and behold - he was of NO HELP what so ever.... The weirdest and worst dental experience I've ever had! This was my first time here for a cleaning. I had a 2pm appointment and arrived about 5 minutes early and could not find any parking, after circling the lot a couple of times I ended up parking at Vons. I checked in and waited in the near full waiting room whilst they took everyone else back but me. Finally after 20 minutes they took me back for an extensive amount of x-rays. Then I waited in the dentist's chair for another 20 minutes. The doctor came in and looked at my teeth; she said everything looked good and she asked why I had come in. I said I was there for a cleaning and to get a night guard because I clench my teeth. She left and a hygienist came in and polished and flossed my teeth. She left and one of the front desk staff came in and went over the pricing for my cleaning and the night guard. It was almost $930! (I don't have dental insurance). She said if I signed up for their yearly dental plan it would take the price down so I ended up doing that. She left and another hygienist came in to take my impressions for my night guard. She left and the doctor came back in to do my cleaning (I've never had a doctor do my dental cleaning before). She had me hold the suction as she used a super sharp and painful drill along my gums. I almost choked on the water as she started drilling. She asked how often I floss and I said every night. She said my gums were inflamed and bleeding (which is something I've always heard from my dentists) but with the way she was digging into my gums it would be no surprise as to why they were bleeding. She then told me to get a fluoride varnish because I had some discoloration on one of my teeth and the fluoride helps strengthen the enamel (an extra $50). I politely declined and said maybe next time, today I will do just a normal cleaning. They took their gloves off and said they would be back. That was 20min ago and I am just sitting here. Don't come during the work day if you have a job, as they don't respect your time or the appointment. They try to upsell as much as possible when it's not necessary. Very friendly and all, at least in my case, but felt like a business sales place more than a dentistry. Never felt more oversold in my life. Very convincing too. Most bs place I've been for a healthcare office where their job should actually be taking care of your dental health. Leave the sales part for the marketing people. Doctors are not supposed to do that. After the fact there was no clean up done which is the main reason I went in and no follow up call, which they mentioned many times they'll do. I really wanted to see how far the BS was gonna go because automatically right after leaving their offices I told my wife I'd never go there again. Husband while flossing his teeth knocked his front tooth crown off, called Hermosa smiles for emergency repair on Friday. The soonest appointment was Monday at 3, remember this is an emergency, now have to wait 72 hours. Then as a new patient, required to fill out all the information, front desk guy goes over insurance coverage however failed to mention there would be a separate charge for re-gluing the crown back onto his front tooth, as that was not included in the insurance coverage. After my husband called and said they are charging $95. I went in and asked The front desk guy why did he not tell me there would be a charge once determined what the repair would be. I laid out $100 bill and they said they do not take cash, they asked if I had a card I said no and after several attempts to pay with Zelle and Venmo I had to have my husband come back with the card to pay the $95. As we began driving home my husband said the tooth does not feel right so we turned around and he is inside now and I am waiting. While waiting the other front desk guy was helping a lady, they wanted to know how much her income was, to cover the fees. The dentist was good, she ground down the crown, so his bottom teeth were not contacting the backside of the crown. The front desk staff are not forthcoming or apologetic, their customer service skills need work. I wish I had read the reviews on this place before going in.
