Highly recommended. Both Dr. Gould and Dr. Raze are fantastic. They do a great job every time, and we have been with this office for about three years now. My son had to get four teeth pulled before getting braces, and Dr. Razi did a great job making him before the extractions. He also recovered well thereafter. I also had a tooth transplant done, Dr. Razi did a great job in making the process as smooth as possible. He also has a great sense of humor, so that helped a lot given how much anxiety I had over the procedure. They also have very helpful and kind staff members. This place is corrupted and terrible service I got a partial crown gave me issues from the beginning kept going back and all they did was said that the bite was just too high. I have been avoiding the dentist over 10 years due to traumatic experiences. But neglecting the dentist wasn't good for me in the long run i had a total of 4 wisdom teeth that were already exposed and needed to be removed as well as a chipped molar i was neglecting. Dr Joel was amazing when it came to my root canal and extracting my two top wisdom teeth. I usually would want to be put to sleep for something like this but all i did was get numbed and FELT NOTHING, it was such a great experience I wanted to come back and do more work. Dr Razi extracted both my bottom wisdom teeth so fast and painless. 1 Implant, 2 crowns + Smiling Big again! I came to Modern American Dentistry as I moved Dentists, closer to home and work. I did the best research one could online and friends. I was pleased. Staff was brilliant, really organized, kind and smart. Then in Oct. 2023, an old root canal tooth needed to be extracted and an implant put in. Yes, I was scared! Especially when neighbors and friends tell you their horror stories. Long story short: Gould directed me to Dr. Razi for extraction and implant. Which was a perfect fit for me. Razi had a mellow yet informative demeanor which I needed. His team was mellow (mostly, the same team as Dr. Gould). Ended up going with Razi for not only the Implant but my 2 old crowns on my front teeth too (High School and College sports accidents). Today, I flash a professional cosmetic smile proudly. Adding up all the money, it worked out just fine budget wise. BTW his accounting department is amazing letting you know prices up front for insurance and or cash. Highly, recommend Razi and team! Dr. Gould and his amazing team of dental hygienists are absolutely the best. The pricing is perfect, and everyone there is so kind. I had a cavity, and an issue with my two top front teeth and wanted a second opinion. My previous dentist wanted to do my dental work and told me that I would need to spend $1,700 plus the cost to get veneers and that she "wouldn't touch my front teeth and that was the only option". Dr Gould said I only needed a crown, and it was very reasonably priced ($400 Vs the $1700+ at my previous dentist) and that he could repair my natural teeth, but if I didn't like it the only option would be veneers. I was so happy he was willing to try. I went today and I am so happy with the results!! He is a true artist. I forget the name of the hygienist, but she was from Russia and just had a baby, and did one of the BEST cleanings of my teeth. I also remember Laura and Maya being really amazing as well. Not only that but X-rays are usually painful for me, and I had no issue with it at all. They are all definitely very talented. Dr. Gould is a very eccentric man with a wild imagination, and is very entertaining to listen to when he does dental work. It helps keep me distracted from the procedures, making it feel like it goes by really fast. On top of that he has great bedside manner, and always makes sure that I am comfortable and not in any pain. This is a huge thing for me being that I am a registered nurse (so I always judge people on this). So happy I finally found a dentist who I can trust and does a great job! I have been a patient of Dr. Gould's for over 10 years and would NEVER go anywhere else. When I moved to Hawaii, I'd still fly home for dental work. I was just into today, as my front tooth broke last night. Completely out. Traumatizing to say the least, as I'm going on vacation. Called Modern American Dentistry, and they were able to get me in early today, and both Dr. Gould and Martha did a fantastic job fixing it.. no implant necessary, which I greatly appreciate, as they can be pushed too hard on patients when there are still cheaper, less drastic options. Dr. Gould is excellent, the dentists are excellent, and the hygienists are excellent. However, this if the fourth time they have rescheduled my appointment. Three times for the previous appointment before I finally got in and this appointment reschedule was the last straw, so I won't be going to them in the future. I used to go because they had a later than 2:30 appointment time and Saturday appointments, since pandemic- the hours, hygienists and etc keep changing. If you are like me and go to the dentist around your 9 to 5 work schedule, (I actually get off at 3:16 PM) this is not the dentist for you. They often reschedule a week or two in advance and then everything is booked further out. It's very difficult to use their services, but if I could- I definitely would- as the quality of care is quite excellent. read more

Over the past three years, they have patiently worked with me in repairing my teeth, damaged from both hockey and rugby. The work has been professionally executed and I'm so very pleased with the results. Dr. Gould makes patients very comfortable as he explains the ongoing work. The front office is friendly, professional, and informative. The hygienists (teeth cleaning) I've had are well trained, extremely competent, and professional. Dr. Gould takes time to explain the health of your teeth and gums. He directs your attention to problem areas and does a great job setting expectations for future visits (no surprises). My visit today with Kelly was an extraordinary experience. She's incredibly kind and empathetic, but what stood out to me was the fact that she always explained the "why" when she did something. Not just "open wide," you knew what she would do and why she was doing it. We all know how to brush our teeth, but she showed me a way (with a mirror) on her recommended method (rotate the toothbrush around each tooth at a 45-degree angle for 15 seconds. She explained that it keeps the gums healthy and helps address any bacteria present (the why). Over the years, my drive to Modern American Dentistry increased from 5 to 30 minutes. Also make sure you pay attention to the TWO common denominators in all these bad reviews. The most scary thing i noticed is the business owner replies and not once does he ever even think for one second maybe he or his staff made a mistake. We have been informed by our insurance company they provided me FALSE information. This business claimed my insurance would not cover my X-rays because i had X-rays taken in 2019 (this is 100% a lie) My insurance company has provided me in writing i am covered for X-rays once per year. They lied to me on several different things but this is blatant fraud. They think scamming people for $175 will blow over. When attorneys take a peak at this business i have a feeling they will find more fraud. read more

He doesn't even do the work on his your teeth he has a technician work on them! He had a tech work on my root canal and she broke my tooth and I had to have a oral surgery to remove it, pay for a post and have an implant put in, costing me over $7,000, and a lot of problems. Later I find, that an Endodontist hast to do a root canal, not a dentist or least even a tech. HE IS SO MONEY DRIVEN AND TRIES TO ACT LIKE HE REALLY CARES UNTIL YOU QUESTION HIM. Within meeting Dr. Gould, I instantly noticed his passion for his profession and his detail-oriented care. I found Dr. Gould very communicative and interested not only in oral health, but the patient's whole health. Dr. Gould was great at communicating every step of the procedures and he would go to great lengths to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed without pain, even days after the procedures. Martha, the dental assistant, was caring and helped me stay positive. She eased the stress about coming into a dentist's office. She was easy to talk to and had a keen ability to distill complex procedures into a simple language to help me understand. I've been here three times and have only seen Dr. Gould once and it was very brief. It was after my first cleaning by one of the dental hygienist that he came by to do a final inspection. I think he was in the middle of something else and spoke so fast that I barely understood him. Other than that, the staff here is very friendly and professional. Of the three times that I've been here, I've worked with three different hygienists. So I'm assuming they are pretty well staffed. They are also good about reminding you about appointments. I received a phone call a week before to confirm the appointment, then an email a couple days before, then finally a text a day before. Might be overkill but at least they remind you, or else you'll be charged if you miss an appointment. I think the text is optional and can be removed from it. Overall, pretty good office but not if you're looking for more interaction with the doc. read more

After moving to the South Bay, I was sad to leave my dentist in Santa Monica. But I was drawn to Dr. Gould after all the positive yelp reviews, and do not regret it. He has done some filling changes and crowns on me and I have to say he is very gentle and explains everything is a knowledgeable, succinct manner. Dr. Gould has a lot of patients but he will spend enough time with his patients as they need and he is very friendly. Jennifer was my hygenist and she was also very friendly when she did my teeth cleaning, so I have requested to continue to go back to her. I have to say one of the best things about his office is the technology they use. They use digital x-rays, so no more film. It comes up instantly on the computer and they also have little cameras that can take up close pictures of certain teeth. They also send text messages to your phone for reminder appointments, as well as emails, which are all very convenient and much appreciated instead of phone calls. read more

I can't say enough about how outstanding Dr. Gould and his team are! I have a complicated dental history and even having a teeth cleaning has been quite traumatic in the past. I recently needed to have 18 crowns replaced & I knew Dr. Gould was the only dentist I would trust to do it. I was moving out of state, but his team managed to speed up the timeline and get everything to work out perfectly. I was extremely nervous about having my old crowns taken off after 20 years, but Dr. Gould and his fabulous assistant, Martha, made sure I was informed, felt comfortable, and was taken care of every step of the way. They did a great job working with me on the shape and color of my new crowns and they turned out PERFECTLY!!! I am so happy with my smile! If I could give Dr. Gould and his team 6 stars I would. I travel from Hawaii just to see him regularly. This is why: I happened to be back in town for another Dr. Appt. and had a nagging tooth ache. I scheduled to come in during my stay and was lucky to find an open appointment (on a Friday). During the consult, he identified that I had an infected tooth and needed a root canal. Because I was leaving that Sunday, he didn't bat an lash and said he could do it same day. He feverishly and methodically worked my root canal around his existing patients that morning. I could overhear him consulting his other patients with the same attentiveness he always has. He was/and always is super compassionate and caring in how he treats you- checking in on your comfort and clearly explaining each step as he goes along. If you are new to the South Bay and need a dentist, seek Dr. Gould out. I refer EVERYONE to his practice (co-workers, friends, the cashier at Jo Ann Fabrics, etc.) The office has clear communication to all patients and making appointments is always easy. We moved to LA during the pandemic and thought it would take forever to see a dentist, but thankfully Dr. Gould was taking new patients! We were able to take care of our teeth immediately by getting cleanings. I also got my fillings replaced and even though I left feeling fine, I developed some discomfort and called them after about a week or so. They got me back in right away (early on my bday) to take care of me. I'm now going through the Invisalign process which will take about 8 months. The staff is great and always makes me feel comfortable. I'm actually inspired by Dr. Gould's passion to educate his patients on good dental hygiene! I've waited a while to write this review, but finally decided it's important for others to know what happened. First, I made an appointment with a dentist at this practice at the recommendation of a friend. When I booked, I was very specific about which dentist my appointment was with. When the appointment was confirmed, it was for that dentist. When I arrived, I noted I was there to see that Dentist. Then, after my cleaning, a dentist enters the room and it's not the one I made an appointment with. I asked, and was told the dentist my appointment with was at lunch (I think my appointment was around 2 pm). This practice had no less than three opportunities to warn me the doctor my appointment was with was "at lunch" and didn't. I felt very taken advantage of. Next, and worse, the dentist I saw informed me I needed significant dental work done. He was careful to say I could do it over multiple years to charge the max of insurance (which seemed strange - if I need the dental work, shouldn't I need it now?). I see a dentist regularly and it seemed weird that in a short period of time since seeing my last dentist, things had changed so dramatically. I decided to get a second opinion after reading a number of yelp reviews from people who felt they had been told they needed dental work they didn't actually need. I went to an appointment with a dentist who had amazing reviews, and she said I didn't need any of the work I'd been told I needed at Modern American Dentistry. I grew up in a family of dentists, and I'm so glad I followed my instinct on this and got a second opinion. read more

I called this office at the beginning of last month to follow up on the refund that I was owed (i.e., the return of my money that the dentist's office should have never charged me in the first place if they'd done their jobs correctly). The dentist's office was POSITIVE that I was only entitled to a refund of $67.50, after I'd paid over $200 for a regular visit with x-rays (NOT what you'd expect to pay when you have dental insurance). The office then refunded $67.50 to my credit card. I subsequently spoke again with our insurance broker, who told me that I was actually owed $135 total: TWICE what the dentist office had told me and twice the amount they agreed to refund. Six months after my visit and I STILL haven't received a refund for the entire amount that should have never been charged to my card in the first place. To add insult to injury, this office still has the nerve to contact me about scheduling my follow-up visit. I'll go somewhere that won't overcharge me, thank you. read more

The most important thing in finding a dentist, for me at least, is not feeling bullied into getting unnecessary work done. And this is why I love Dr. Gould! He has been completely honest with his opinion and provides options that don't include being completely ripped off. I knew I would probably have to have some cavities filled after years of various dentists telling me "they're small right now, but you'll have to get them filled eventually." Dr. Gould told me which ones he thought should be filled now, and which ones to put on 'watch' if I didn't want to get them filled right away. What a refreshing change from "YOU HAVE 12 CAVITIES GET THEM FILLED NOW!" (2nd opinion on that: definitely not 12 cavities. Probably why I don't trust dentists the first time around.) Cleanings and fillings have been great, never had an issue with scheduling appointments, waiting time has been relatively minimal, and parking is plentiful. What really seals the 5-star deal is that I overpaid for my fillings (didn't realize I was still double-insured at the time), and they were very prompt about refunding me as soon as they received their checks from my insurance.
