Ray was the Weird Al of my generation (if unfamiliar, check out 'Ahab the Arab', 'Guitarzan', and if nothing else, 'The Streak'). We moved south many years ago, have been watching his old TV show for some time, and decided to see his show since we'd be in the area. Glad we did. He's 84, but still spry, funny and entertaining. His show consists of many of his old hits and comedic stories (my wife can't get the chicken story out of her head), accompanied by a small orchestra. Dinner is optional, consisting of baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, a great dinner roll and a non-alcoholic drink. Not great, but not bad either. I'd say it's worth it ($20 per). Came out for the finals of #indycountryshowdown. Some really great singers tonight. The menu is very limited. Reasonable prices. I had the pulled pork which was very good. Our waitress was very attentive. Food arrived quickly and as ordered. We sat next to the stage. The sound wasn't overwhelming. Bathroom was very clean. We have only enjoyed the Friday night piano bar about half a dozen times. But we intend to see Ray's full show in the near future, before his impending retirement. The piano bar is a unique experience with familiar faces there each week. John is the main attraction with his talent and easy-going manner. He makes everyone feel welcome. And, then, of course, Ray is there most Friday nights for some added star presence and a little vocalizing. Not too much, just enough! Honestly classy... love the atmosphere! Please don't be shy and dress up as fancy as you want! But also it's ok if dressing up it's not your thing. This place has a piano bar, the dinner/show room and gift shop. At first, when you pull up, you feel you are in a big building, it really doesn't scream fancy or has much sex appeal from the outside other than it's clean and has some plants honestly, but when you walk in, you can feel elegance. The ticket station is to the right as soon as you walk in and the gift shop is to your left, keep going straight to the back and you'll find memorabilia and the piano bar. You'll encounter the big doors to the show/dinning room on your way to the piano bar as well. They open Thursday to Saturday, the piano bar opens at 5pm, dinner is at 6:30pm and show starts at 7:30pm and you definitely have to come and check the piano bar, wow! What a great warm up to an amazing show. The service and customer care was impeccable at the bar area and the drinks were made delicious. They have a full menu at the bar so you can eat and drink before the show there too I believe. They don't have many draft beers selection but they do have a few, they do have bottles/cans as well as a full cocktail bar. The bathrooms and the cleanliness overall of the whole establishment was impressive. Definitely coming back to get the whole experience on a night out! read more

We went to see Ray as part of our anniversary trip. We were greeted at the door and given information about the piano bar, gift shop etc. We looked around the gift shop, then went in and listened to music in the bar. At 5:30 we were promptly seated and drink orders taken The sweet tea is very good. Our server, Danielle, is so friendly and a lot of fun. She helped to make our experience a good one. The meal consited of salad, chicken, green beans and a dinner roll. The green beans lacked seasoning and the chicken, to me, was a little dry. The potatoes & roll were good. The entertainment began on time. Ray is quite feeble, but did a good job performing some of his great songs. The band played way too loudly and the show really did not need the 3 "Hussies" as Ray calls them. They added nothing to the show & when Ray sat at the piano blocked our view of Ray. We sat near the stage, but slightly off to the left. It is very difficult to hear because there are no speakers facing that direction. Overall, it was a good time. read more

Having no idea what to expect, not really being too familiar with Ray Stevens I was very pleasantly surprised. We were taking the In-Laws to celebrate their Birthday and they also seemed to really enjoy themselves. The food itself was pretty good, and it arrived pretty quickly after we were seated (as well as an abundance of rolls). It's not the best meal you've ever had, but for Dinner Theater food I presume this to be up to snuff. The truly confusing part is this. Since you are prepaying for the DINNER, the gratuity is not included in that because Drinks and Dessert are NOT included. As a result, the waitstaff, to avoid being short changed deliver a bill that includes the price of the meal (But not the show) as well as any drinks or dessert you ordered. This is confusing and makes it look like you are being charged a second time for the food, but they do this simply to produce a ticket that includes the correct Gratuity guide. Otherwise the hardworking staff would be tipped on 6 dollar Bourbons and 5 dollar Banana Puddings for 2 dollar tips instead of 7 dollar tips for 40 dollars of food, drinks and desserts. The best part for me was that dinner seating starts PROMPTLY at 6, the show starts PROMPTLY at 7:30 and ends PROMPTLY at 9. I am writing about the piano bar. The drinks are wonderful, the waitstaff excellent, and the food is yummy, but...the best reason to hit this spot is the music of Superstar John Johnthis. I am a professional pianist of the same genre and have lived all over the East, Toronto twice, Germany twice, and Denmark. I can state unequivocally that, since the demise of his only true rival, Bobby Short of NYC's Carlyle fame, John is unequivocally the best piano-bar artist In the World. 1) First of all, to be on top of that field you need to be charming. OMG, every woman who visits falls in love with John; 2) You need to engage your audience. Johnthis introduces everyone at the bar, and remembers your name when you return after a long absence; 3) Johnthis has the best drum-box I have ever heard, programmed to perfection and a little "suitcase" base. One would swear they were listening to a live TRIO. Finally, Johnthis has a fabulous repertoire of accessible music, and sings and plays with happiness, excitement, enthusiasm, and lyric beauty. His idol is Frank Sinatra, and like Frank he has exquisite timing and a wonderful voice. On his ballads, he sings to your heart! A Great Experience! This is a Showroom with a piano bar in the entry. We were familiar with the Piano Player John Jonethis who is extraordinary! He performs before the Cabaray and after. We loved the Ray Stevens show we were a group of 6 and the venue was perfect. We had great seats and the dinner was wonderful! The wait staff is very attentive and the drink prices are reasonable! We returned after the fantastic show to the piano area and things got rockin! Ray even came out and joined the crowd and sang with us!! Both the performers are great showmen. Seeing Ray Stevens has been the big hit of our Memorial Day Weekend trip to Nashville. The old boy, now 80-81, can still bring it. He cut his first record 61 years ago! I remember them all from Ahab the Arab forward. He jokes, he laughs, he moves (I wouldn't call it dancing). Our server was fun. The facility and entertainment is excellent. The food quality is not up to par with the overall experience Bar service is prompt, courteous and reasonably priced. We spent an hour before seating time enjoying the piano player and drinks. After the show we returned to the bar for drinks, music and dancing. Ray Stevens also came to the bar and sang additional songs and danced. We were seated for dinner promptly. The dinner theater is comfortable with tables on three sides of the stage. We started with a nondescript salad of lettuce, a couple of grape tomatoes. The dressing was store grade. We had chose the beef entree from fish, chicken and beef for our meal. The meal was similar to what you'd get at a banquet. A few green beans, a few potatoes cubes and the meat was covered in a brown gravy. While it was good, it was at best ordinary. Desserts cost extra and also ordinary. The show was very good. Ray sings many of his old hits with high energy and is entertaining. read more

My wife and I attended the show, yet did not dine here. It is a nice venue and historic murals from the music industry line the walls. There was a marvelous video prior to the show that provided previously unknown facts about music industry. Mr. Stevens may be 82, yet he continues to be a great performer. The show included Mr. Stevens, an orchestra, and three backup singers. If you are old enough to remember his comedic songs when they were on the air, you should enjoy the show. I have been to the CabaRay twice, once when it first opened, and again this past weekend with my parents, who live in Ohio. If Ray Stevens isn't enough to get you to come out (and believe me, he is plenty reason enough) the food and staff will seal the deal. I'd like to tell you about this past weekend, as it was hands down the best experience I've had anywhere. We bought tickets for Friday night (so we thought, my husband made a mistake on the date, and we had tickets for Saturday instead.) When the staff discovered the mistake, they bent over backwards to accommodate us. Our VIP table wasn't available, but they got us in one right next to our chosen table, and it was still incredible seats. They initially didn't think they had enough food, so they refunded us the meal price, then came up with incredible meals for our whole table. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff, and the building. The building is beautiful, from the gift shop to the chandeliers and the place settings. Ray made all decisions himself from what I understand, and he has impeccable taste. The food is tasty, and the CabaRay wines are delicious. The dishes, the tables, the centerpieces, and the setup of the dining room are elegant, and accommodating to anyone, regardless of disabilities (my parents are elderly, and did not have an issue with getting in, and being seated comfortably.) Now, for the show. There is simply not a better showman on Earth than Ray Stevens. I am generally a fan of metal music, but since I grew up with Ray and his music, it will always have a place in my heart. After more than 60 years of doing what he does, he still sounds exactly the same. He does all his hits, impeccably, and the show is exciting. He tells jokes, plays instruments, sings, and just shows the world why he has had such an incredible career. You will not be disappointed. He is a super nice guy, and takes time to meet everyone, sign autographs, take pictures, and hang out with the audience after the show in the piano bar. If you're visiting Nashville, please don't pass up the opportunity to see and experience this in person. It is worth every cent and then some. I found this venue to be too much Vegas and not enough Nashville. I was hoping it was going to be a new place to see younger hip up and coming artists or at least a variety of music, maybe even classic rock bands. Hopefully it will eventually turn into that. The food was average too. read more

We had VIP seats, right next to the stage. The chairs were so uncomfortable and hard that I was hurting so badly I could hardly stand it for the 3 and half hours we were sitting there. The green beans were raw. When paying $99 for a show and meal, you would think it would include dessert. But, no, dessert was an extra charge, which we didn't know until the end of the meal. Also, when they brought the "ticket" for the food (just to give an idea of how much tip to leave for the waitress) they valued the meal at $118 for 4 of us. But, if you look at their ticket prices, each meal is only valued at about $20. So, if you use the suggestions on the receipt for percentages to tip the wattress, they trick you into paying more. Would not recommend this show. We were very disappointed because we have always been fans of Ray Stevens. read more
