This place is interesting. Cute little B&B that has a bakery on-site. But, not a traditional bakery. There are just a few rooms and if you stay here, you get an incredible try of FRESH BAKED treats delivered right to your door. Everything is SO good! Especially the sourdough bread. They also have a great little Pizza Night of Fridays and the pizza is so tasty! While we didn't try to buy any baked goods since it didn't seem to be a true bakery, Raymond sells his magnificent treats and several Farmers Markets throughout the area. Specifically went to the bodega bay farmer's market to get some of these baked goods. The salted bread round was outstanding. Ate it with a delicious, fresh butter we got from the cheese vendor there. We had another round from a local bakery to compare it to. No contest, Raymond's won out! There were also some berry type things. I liked that there was minimal sweetness added and the tart berry flavor came through. The brownie was chocolatey and not too sweet, melt in your mouth texture. Planning another visit soon. read more

This was a recommendation of the airbnb we stayed at. It "appeared" to be open on our first day, but never opened again. We stoped by to see "hours of operation" on the store front, but there was nothing. There was a sign stating live music from 6-9 the next night. We went by again the next day and night hoping to buy some pastries, but they were closed yet again. There is also no hours of operation on their website and yelp says they're only open on Fridays for a few hrs???!!!. Got a blackberry turnover from Raymond's Bakery at the Bodega Bay Farmer's Market. It was so yummy! I loved that they used whole, fresh blackberries. I like that it had a rustic feel/taste. It seemed like it was baked in a wood fired oven. I also liked that they don't touch your cash (they have change laying out for you to get yourself so they don't cross contaminate with your food). read more

We had one of Raymond's brownies at the Sebastopol farmer's market, and it was one of the most delicious things we've eaten in a long time! After striking out at getting Bouchon Bakery treats in Yountville, we were keen to satisfy our chocolate fix. The brownie at the market, with its beautiful cracked top and chocolate ganache, immediately caught our eye. It turned out to be better than a chocolate bouchon by a large margin! The brownie was fudgy and rich and addictive in all the right ways. Sadly we ate it so quickly I didn't get a good picture of it beforehand :). I also noticed the owner was so sweet, engaging, and kind to everyone in line. I couldn't have asked for a better experience at this market! read more

Visited the small farmers market in bodega today and saw Raymond's stall. He handed us a baguette and told me to tear off a piece and pass it back. Sure kept the customers in line happy! All his baked goods looked delicious. Raymond himself helped us. We ended up with: Pesto tomato bread: 4/5 great flavor and texture. Should have gotten more. Baguette: 3.5/5 a little burnt and hard but my girls liked it Lemon bar: 4/5 good and thick crust. I prefer mine lemons bars to be more on the tart side. read more

Cheese Pizza had literally almost no sauce, would have been great otherwise, but without sauce it really was more like cheese bread. Yummy if served on the side, but not pizza for dinner. At the time of the pizza order we ordered the baked goods box for Saturday morning pickup and the order got lost so we ended up with more bread than pastries, (one ironically a cheese bread loaf reminiscent of last night's pizza dinner), not as practical for the 8 hour ride home. read more

We stayed at the house up the street also owned by Mark. Every morning a basket arrived with his coffee cake, danish and bread variety that was heavenly and enjoyed by the whole family. His daughter baked a chocolate cake with local fresh strawberries for my birthday that was also enjoyed by all. I'm not sure how I got wind of Raymond's Bakery, but I surely would have never found out about it had I been left to my own devices. Jamie W. and I spent this past weekend at the Rio Villa Resort in Monte Rio. "Resort" is a bit of a stretch as it's more like a motel. Anyway, we didn't get there until about 7:30PM on Friday, and we had already tried most of the dining spots in Guerneville on previous day trips. Since we were already four miles west anyway, I thought it might be worthwhile to look in that direction even though choices are relatively sparse until you get to Jenner or Bodega Bay. I read that Raymond's is open only one evening a week, and it happened to be Friday. They advertised live music, so I was thinking it would be prudent to call them first to see if there was even room for motley weekenders from the big city. The young fellow who answered assured me that there were tables available and said to stop by. Since I know they are known for their pizzas, I asked if we could just order one over the phone. I had him go through the whole menu until I heard the magic words "Kitchen Sink". Sold, and we promised to be there in twenty minutes. It was getting dark, and the road from Monte Rio to Cazadero turned out to be a long, winding drive. So into the woods were we that I was ready to sing Sondheim. We finally came upon what looked from the outside a well-kept roadhouse. Cars, trucks and SUVs had already filled the small parking lot in front, so I was forced to drive further down, make a U-turn and park along the side of the highway. Jamie thought I was trying to kill him since the passenger side was facing a steep embankment. Details. When we entered, it was pretty busy with all the seats at the wine bar taken, and there was still a bit of a queue ready to order at the bakery counter. It was a happening place with a huge age range of what appeared to be locals since they all knew each other. Even though they had a twenty-minute head start, the pizza wasn't ready for us, so we did what comes natural to us. Order more food. We decided to share an $8 Traditional Caesar Salad to tie us over. It was good size with plenty of fresh Parmesan shavings and herb baked croutons with a zing of fresh lemon in their dressing (photo: http://bit.ly/1ytIWaa). We were famished, so it was wolfed down in no time or at least by the second chorus of some Seals & Crofts oldie performed by Tom Finn out in the picnic area. The $23.50 Kitchen Sink Pizza finally arrived, and it was 14 inches of pure, gut-busting joy with pepperoni, sausage, tomato, mushroom, onion, green pepper, black olives and garlic liberally topping a thin crust puffed and charred at the edges, all of it covered in melted mozzarella that was browned on top (photo: http://bit.ly/1NGYQF2). It was ideal comfort food after a long, Friday evening road trip. Fortunately it didn't get any more crowded in the dining area, just louder as the customers were really increasing their volume due in part to the wine. When I took a look outside, I think only two people were listening to Tom, a shame since he's quite good and plays the soundtrack of my adolescence. We ended up treating ourselves to a pair of their $2 Cowboy Cookies, a sweetly addictive combination of oatmeal, chocolate chips, corn flakes, coconut and walnuts (photo: http://bit.ly/1PL5pVx). Amazing. Elizabeth and Mark are absolutely the best host ever. Our immaculately clean little cabin was cute, comfortable, cozy and filled with great character too. There are lots of books to pass the time and I haven't even gotten to the complementary breakfast, wonderful pizza and the joy of being nestled in the sunniest little redwood grove around. Oh, live music and dancing on Friday nights! I forgot about the creek. There are so many great aspects but I'll keep it short. We arrived on an early Friday evening after driving up from the city. To arrive at such a beautiful, peaceful little hidden gem is one of the greatest feelings. It's just close enough that you can do the drive right after work. It's far enough away to make you feel as if you're a million miles from home. Total travel time from the heart of San Francisco is two hours. Immediately upon arriving we were given our key and retreated to our little oasis to relax. After catching our breath and getting settled we surfaced only to find that the parking lot, that only had one parking spot left, somehow found room for another 20 to 30 cars. I really should have taken a picture of this. This was the club! By 7:30 the quiet property we had arrived at was bouncing with 80 to 100 people all there for Pizza Night and live music. What an event! We ordered our pizza and found a quiet little hidden area behind the main building with a fire pit ready to start and seats all around. We enjoyed our large pizza (enough for four to five people) while listening to the live band playing on the other side of the building. After eating we went around to find a stage with a great local band playing wonderful music. At one point there were half dozen or more people dancing under the redwoods. Incredible. It's one of those moments I'll never forget. At one point Mark and Elizabeth took a moment away from their busy night to dance a little. It's great to see people living their passion. Mark told me that he named their bakery after his father and to have the joy to talk to Mark for just five minutes is a great experience. This guy is amazing. Everything would have been wonderful without him but to have an opportunity to talk to someone that has the energy and passion he does is something you don't see. That's not to say that Elizabeth isn't just as inspired because this couple brings you a level of hospitality that is unsurpassed. I'm seriously taking a close look at all of my past reviews to see who I can take a star away from just so that you understand how magical an experience Raymond's bakery is. There is no cell service. The Bakery is the only eating establishment other than the Country Store Deli in this small quaint town/forested area. They offer a Friday night pizza selection of about 5 pizza's and live music. They've been open, offering that all summer and even last fall/winter. Their Friday night pizza night is a bust and not up to par at all. The pizza once ordered takes about 1-1.5 hours which is unacceptable. My return recent visit resulted in them having run out of beer glasses. How does a business run out of beer glasses when they've been in business long before the Pandemic? They love to give excuses which frankly I'm getting tired of. They have enough staff so they can't use that excuse. The bottled beer I wanted wasn't chilled because a refrigerator was not working, since last year!? That was the excuse I heard before. The band they had was ok but the same one that seems to play at most functions up in this area so not much variety. The setting in the redwoods is delightful and seems to bring people all the way from Marin County up to this "event." The prices for the pizza is way higher than better smart pizza in the next major town and Raymond's Bakery pizza is slim on the toppings. I overheard that they ran out of pizza dough. Apparently there'd been some kind of advertisement promoting this Friday night Pizza party but the establishment was not ready to handle the crowd. One lady I spoke to had placed an online order at 2:30 pm but didn't get her pizza until 8pm!! My suggestion: stay clear of Raymond's until they get their act together. Even though gas prices have dropped a bit, it's not worth the drive or time. read more

If service and friendliness were all we rated on here at Yelp, it'd be ten stars, out the roof! I first met Mark and his amazing wife over July 4 weekend, when my friends in nearby Monte Rio took a group of us there for pastries. I think I gained a few pounds munching on the delectable buttery scrumptious treats that they kept bringing out for us. But let's ascend the Maslowian ladder and go beyond food for a second.... Mark is angelic. He named the place after his Dad, and has since had 2 close brushes with death - cancer and ruptured appendix. But you'd never know it as he is the most alive and vital person ever....yet stays true to his legacy, devoting part of his proceeds (the Elim Grove cottages out back...yeah, even more hospitality here...) to patients battling the big C. He and his wife are simply lovely, attending to all of your needs. And despite trying to take care of a toddler girl and twin babies plus a bakery and lots of cottages and grounds and being a great husband (ok, now out of breath here), Mark doesn't blink at the chance to show guests and friends around his compost pile, bbq pit and the rest of the grounds and how it all works. He showed me and my friend a private swimming hole just below his grounds on Austin Creek. His boyish enthusiasm for all things Good in life bubbles over and is simply contagious. Eventually even *I* wanted to skip a rock across the crick! The cottages are just as homey and welcoming as the hosts: each one has a different layout, whose modern wood is covered by rustic woods that encompass the Cazadero river area. We even saw grapes hanging in front of the door of one. Toss in the rusty '60s Ford Mustang out front (a thing I have for Beasty cars) and you have pure paradise. I have lived in Cazadero for 4 years now and absolutely adore Raymond's Bakery. We head there almost every friday night for some of the best pizza I have had since living in the New York metropolitan area....the crust is thin and crisp and flavorful and the sauce and cheese and toppings are excellent. You can create your own or choose from some of their own suggested combinations. The pesto pizza is soooooooo good. The pastries and breads are also amazing...the brownies are not to be missed and the turnovers are a welcome addition to an all ready fantastic array of pastries and goodies. Mark and Elizabeth are open and caring and devoted to the community and to all the different types of people who live in the north bay area. These are two of the most awesome people I have met in a long time......They have welcomed me to the area and have always been smiling faces that I look forward to seeing on Friday night after a long week of work. Friendly place plenty of space and Wi Fi, which is cool if you have been camping in the canyon for a few days. The staff is really nice and knowledgeable. But the bread is amazing! I've been a big fan of Wildflour bakery in Freestone. But the bread will only remain fresh one day but this place. The bread isn't given a chance to last more than a couple if hours it's JUST that good. And there is a big black cat that like to oversee the productions! Holy smokes, these people can bake!! Checked out Raymond's stand at the Bodega bay farmers market today and boy am I glad! Pro tip: get there early or all of their best sellers will sell out. While in line, there was a lady that was almost distraught that they weren't offering fruit pastries because she said they were some of the best she'd ever had. Another lady at a neighboring stand informed me that their sea salt sourdough focaccia is "to die for" and boy was she right! We bought one, took it home, cut a slice and drove right back to the market to try to buy another. Alas, they were all sold out! In a way it was a blessing in disguise because we ended up with a baguette, multi-grain sourdough loaf, onion roll, and lemon bar. Everything is fabulous. An easy 5-stars for Raymond's! read more

I was first introduced to this magical place while attending the performing arts camp across the street. We stopped by for some decadence in the middle of intense dance classes, and were charmed by not only the lush pastries, the heavenly pillow-like bread, but also the welcoming, super-friendly ambiance and hospitality of Mark and Elizabeth! Months later now, a small group of us have been back to stay at the cabins behind the bakery, and that was an experience not easily forgotten! We grilled meats and sat around a fire in a gorgeous setting, dipped in our own swimming hole out back, slept in beautiful and well-maintained accommodations....pretty much a perfect weekend. Like fellow Yelpers Phuoc K. and Gail N., the firs time I tried Raymond's was after a long day of volunteering at Camp Cazadero right across the street. I've only been here once so far, but I plan on coming back many many times! Last time we walked in here as a group of about 20, and the owner welcomed us with open arms. He gave us desserts to try, free of charge, just because of what we were doing at Camp Cazadero. He was probably one of the nicest business owners I've ever met in my life, and is a real down to earth guy. Their raspberry tarts are amazing! Not to sweet, and homemade with real raspberries. Everything here is pretty much homemade, which makes it so great. Raymond's Bakery is a big part of what brings me back to Cazadero. nestled in the heart of the redwoods, across from an amazing music camp, Raymond's is a roadside haven. Their breads are just superb and the pastries are melt in your mouth good. You can even get an old fashion root beer float with root beer on tap! I had the good fortune of getting to enjoy pizza night and they definitely lived up to the rest of their products. I was impressed by the variety of topping options too, for such an out of the way place. The owners are so warm and welcoming, I decided to rent one of their cabins for the weekend. It was a cozy little cottage with great attention to detail. I particularly loved the skylight over the bathtub, and the wood burning stove. There was also a great little fire bowl where we got to roast marshmallows and enjoy the stars. I brought a bunch of friends up to stay with me, and the whole varied bunch of them loved the place and felt quite welcomed. The combination of delicious baked goods, warm service, and delightful accommodations was just what I needed to make my vacation right. I plan on making my stay up at Raymond's a tradition. read more

I've spent summers in Cazadero since I was a baby. When I was little Raymond's bakery was called Elim Grove and I used to go there for ice cream sundaes. I have to say that it is quite an improvement over the old place...though it still has the same local charm. The owners are wonderful and friendly. They have board games and nice setting to pass the time - especially when the power goes out in your cabin. I've never had their pizza, but their baked goods are better than anything I've had in San Francisco. I look forward to waking up in Caz and heading there to get coffee and a pastry on the weekend. Of course, it would be awesome if they made lattes... I think they may have started doing that....I'll have to check them out again sometime soon! read more

Every time we come up to renovate Camp Cazadero...we get super excited for 2 reasons: 1) Volunteering. 2) Raymond's Bakery! (For the longest time no one knew the name of this place..so we just referred to it as "THE bakery!"..But I made sure to capture a pic of the sign/name of the place today purposefully for this review!) This place makes insanely good breads. By insanely -- I mean...served to you super fresh and warm - as in just popped out of the oven -- because that's how you will get it! Excellent items I've had over the last few years include their: - Foccacia (every variety!) - Baguettes - Olive bread - Onion rolls - these ridiculously good baked breads with fruit on top (kinda like a sweet foccacia. stars with an "f"...so good...) We usually come in a group and order a variety of things to share. Makes for very appetizing times =D. I'm not sure if it's because it's the only food place within miles of Cazadero...or because we're enjoying fresh baked goodness in the middle of nature and all its glory...but...it sure as heck works! Prices are mediocre -- about $3-7 depending on what baked goodie you get (and size). They also make pizzas (which I've yet to try...but looks and smells so amazing), sandwiches (which are alright), and serve up some other random edibles/beverages one can enjoy. The only thing that is lacking here imo is the service...kinda slow if you order something not out yet. IE: I remember it taking about 20 minutes to get a sandwich once...and we were like...the only people there. (There's typically only 1-2 people working, and I guess they just don't typically anticipate a large crowd like ours...so some what understandable). Also, some of the cashiers aren't as personable/friendly as one would hope in the middle of the woods, but overall, the breads...again...AMAZING. We stayed the weekend in Guerneville, and once again, Yelp was instrumental in us finding this gem. We were on our way to Bodega Bay for crab, and noticed the sign to Cazadero. We both looked at each other and said, what the heck? We pulled off the highway and drove 7 or 8 miles along a really scenic road to Raymond's. Once inside the bakery, you become the proverbial fat kid in a candy store. Your mouth opens and you just start pointing. The two girls behind the counter were incredibly chill, yet super knowledgeable about their goods. We loaded up a few boxes/bags full of goodies and headed back to the highway. Once we returned home, the full extent of Raymond's finally hit. This place is old school, artisan baking at its finest. There's no shortage of butter, sugar and eggs... exactly what makes artisan baking... well, better. Try: lemon tarts, sourdough bread (out of the oven), palmiers, muffins, oatmeal cookies (definitely not your standard Quaker variety - they have sugared/candied walnuts ground up inside) and fresh fruit turnovers. One pleasant surprise was something I'd never tried before, the fougasse, which is pizza dough with a sweet fruit topping. It's a game changer. read more
