Quail and Condor was one of our favorite spots when visiting Healdsburg for the first time. One of the first distinctive notes we found with Quail and Condor was that it was located in a pretty big warehouse-like structure. There are tall ceilings and a good number of tables/seats indoor and some smaller tables outside. On a Saturday late morning while we were there, we did notice that there was pretty constantly a line. However, it is pretty fast moving and took us about 10 minutes to get through ourselves. You'll start by seeing some merchandise and online orders before getting to the baked goods, drinks/cakes, and the cashier. The staff was super friendly and helpful in answering our questions and offering suggestions. Once you order, you get a number if you're eating in and can grab cutlery, water cups/water, and look for a seat. There is also a good restroom that was clean. We sat on one of the bigger tables/benches and our order came in about 7 minutes. Here's what we ordered: +Veggie quiche: One of the best items we had. Loved the flaky pie crust and how big it was. The quiche was delicious and came with a small side salad. +Ham and cheese croissant: A good croissant. Loved the everything bagel-like seasoning on top. I think this being warmed up would go the extra mile. +/-Ricotta and jam toast: The toast was good here. But the ricotta/jam were a little bland. Would have benefitted from a little more of a bold flavor to help give it a distinctive taste. -Iced matcha latte: We also ordered the iced matcha latte. They didn't have almond milk so opted for oat milk. Unfortunately this was the weakest item we had personally. The oat milk was a bit too strong and combined with the matcha used, it left with a bit of a strange aftertaste. Parking wasn't too hard as it was in a pretty big parking lot. I was staying nearby Quail and Condor and had breakfast there two days in a row! I ordered the same thing both days, the Turkish breakfast, since it was so amazing the first day. When you walk into this breakfast and brunch spot, you see display cases filled with pastries! It would be hard to choose just one. They also have loaves of bread. We ordered off the breakfast menu, and I also got a latte. The service was really good both days. They bring your food out to your table. This is also a nice place to hang out, with a mellow vibe and high ceilings. The outside seating looked nice as well. I think if I lived nearby, I'd come here weekly! read more

This is an almost cafeteria style bakery/restaurant. You stand in line while viewing the gorgeous breads and pastries available. Tge staff puts your requests on a tray and they bring it, along with a number sign, to your table. They bring the rest of your orders and drinks once they are prepared. I chose the gluten-free chocolate chip cookies and gluten-free cheese roll from the pastries section, then the veggie quiche for my entree, along with a cold brew. The cookies have a crispy edge with slightly chewy center and just a hint of salt to balance out the sweet. If my friends and I didn't have a whole day planned out, I would have bought all of the cheese rolls. OMG, were those divine. Crispy outside, with a perfect, cheesy inside. So good. The quiche was a cloud filled with yummy vegetables and while the crust wasn't gluten-free, it was amazingly light. Highly recommend. read more

This is a delayed review for Quail and Condor due to a pause. Some friends recommended Quail and Condor. The baked goods were phenomenal, and we can see why this is a popular spot! Being a well-known bakery in the area, my companion chose to pre-order our items. When we arrived, the pickup was easy, and we enjoyed our treats outside with the pup. The bakery is cute, charming, open, and airy. The staff who helped us were great. There are some tables inside for working, as well as benches outside. All items are on display for easy viewing. Companion bought us the Parmesan Onion Biscuit, Chocolate Croissant, Fruit and Marzipan Scone, and Salted Egg Morning Bun. I'd say everything was delicious. My favorite was the morning bun. The texture, taste, and portion size were all there. Everything was buttery and flaky, and the fillings weren't skimped. I can understand why this is a go-to spot for baked goods! There are a variety of bakeries in the area, but Quail and Condor seem to be beloved by locals and visitors alike. Find them off Mill Street in a little complex with free parking. Quail And Condor. Consistent and Quality! An excellent bakery on the drive up to the 101. Never had a bad pastry here. My favorites are the Kouign Amann which has an excellent flake and caramel flavor and the chocolate croissant which uses high quality dandelion chocolate. Tried the "twice baked" croissant today. Was excellent, with a super buttery and flakey croissant with a nice creamy gruyere spinach filling. The bread is also fantastic. Has a nice seating area with plenty of seats. I got the cinnamon bun, Kouign Amann, the cigar, and the biscuit. I was not a huge fan of the cinnamon bun, didn't like the texture and it was too sweet. If this spot is good enough for the NY Times to name it one of the best bakeries in the nation, it's good enough for you. All the pastries we had were A+ and worth it. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The Veggie Quiche was thicker than a textbook, custardy and light. I ordered a Marzipan Berry Scone for a friend that I took home and they loved it. There's plenty of seating and four of us chatted forever. The acoustics are great, there are water pitchers to stay hydrated, and if I lived here this would be a favorite spot no contest. My only regret is that I didn't leave with a Challah. Tip these beautiful beloved bakers well. And stop complaining about excellence. read more

I know they're known for the bread and pastries, but don't sleep on the quiche. That was by far my favorite item - so soft and jiggly (almost like steamed egg), and not too cheesy. So so so good. Lox toast was fine, I liked the rye bread but fish was a bit fishy for my taste. The biscuit (red miso, caramelized onion, parmesan) and crème brûlée tart were just fine imo, but my friend seemed to like the biscuit. Initially my partner didn't love the cinnamon roll because of the texture, but he liked it the more he ate it, and ended up declaring he really liked it, especially the flavor and the frosting. Super seed bread was fine too, it's a pretty moist bread and a bit more dense than my preferred style, but it might be because of the shape. Great bakery! Came here and picked up some croissants (they were generously sized!), bread, and sat down for some breakfast. For breakfast, I had the quiche and my friend tuna sandwich. She didn't like the chips in her sandwich, but I really enjoyed the quiche and iced americano. Really cute place with plenty of seating. Very casual but elegant establishment. Got 3 pastries to go: ham and cheese croissant, biscuit (with red miso, carmelized onions and Parmesan) and one of their twice baked croissants (pineapple and basque cheesecake). The biscuit was my favorite - soft on the inside yet had a decent crunch on the outside. NEW LOCATION!!! 44 Mill Street. Just around the corner from their old location but with a big parking lot and lots of indoor seating. The new space is still lacking personality and needs some art on the walls or something, but I'm so glad we can now get our food here and eat indoors! The options for pastries are basically the same but they seem to have a few more cooked options like a Turkish Breakfast and Baked eggs. I don't recall that on the menu before. This morning, I tried their Onion Parmesan biscuit. It was delicious! I have to admit that I was disappointed they had sold out of their Lox Toast this morning, but it's just too popular! The Pumpkin Passionfruit cake was delightfully light and moist, although the passionfruit seeds on top burst in a way that I wasn't thrilled by. The Kouinn Amman is always the best one you can find. Finally tried Quail and Condor, and it didn't disappoint! We went on a Monday morning and the line was already at the door. Service was friend and fast. Our favorite pastry was the marzipan and blueberry scone. I've never had anything like it! Loved the biscuit too, it was flaky on the inside and crisp on the outside. I love a good chocolate chip cookie and it didn't disappoint. For breakfast we had the avocado toast. I thought it was okay. The bread was really good, but the avocado was just plain. There is chili oil on top, but I prefer more on it. The baked eggs were good! Tasted delicious on a piece of bread. read more

I've been wanting to visit Quail & Condor for what feels like forever, and I finally made it this past weekend! I'd heard so much about their legendary pastries, especially after it was named one of the 22 best bakeries in the U.S. by The New York Times last year. We got there early enough so that we were not disappointed with items selling out. While the line was fairly long as we anticipated, it moved surprisingly quickly, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was hard to make a selection from all the decadent options, but everything we selected was simply exquisite. The Parmesan & Onion Biscuit was a rich, buttery, and flaky delight. The Feta, Tomato, and Tzatziki pastry was a refreshing and unique twist on a classic Mediterranean flavor. The Ham and Cheese Croissant had a delightful light and flaky exterior, complemented by a rich and salty interior filling. On the sweet side, the Marzipan and Huckleberry scone was a resounding hit. The stacked scone provided ample space for generous amounts of jam and marzipan filling, which shone through. The Fig Jam, Rosemary & Creme Brulée Danish is an interesting twist of flavors & not overly sweet. After watching the owner of this shop compete on a Food Network TV show, I knew I had to make a trip to her bakery! The line was surprisingly short for a Saturday around 10am. I ordered a variety of pastries and a loaf of the olive bread. My favorite pastry was probably the cheddar and chive biscuit - it had a delicious, crispy exterior while the interior remained soft and moist. My favorite pastry shop in Sonoma! There's usually a line out the door on weekends so I like to order ahead and pick up at the window. Not everything is available as preorder though. Their laminated pastries are fantastic! Really enjoy the creativity of some of their pastries! The creme brûlée danish, and the squash blossom potato danish have been some of our favorites! Of note, the prices here are not cheap... most of their pastries are more expensive than some of my fav SF shops. Quail and Condor drew my attention to the radiant reviews they bring in. I finally was able to make my way over there to see what this place was all about. When you walk in, there is a lot of open space and the inside felt comfortable. There was an open and flowing environment. That was great! So, where did it go wrong? The prices were just sky rocketed into another dimension. $7 a muffin and $7 a scone. I seem to have much better luck at the Farmers Market for less. I get it, there is a fancy building that needs to be paid for. Don't come here for dairy free option if you're looking for something in the sweet and savory department. There are GF options but those are still rittled and laced with butter and dairy. Like, bread is your only choice if you're dairy free. The gentlemen that helped me told me to get a loaf of bread. So I did. $12. I went with the Rosemary, olive oil and sea salt focaccia bread. The good news is, it was nice and soft like an Air b n b pillow. The bad news is, it had more salt than the ocean. With copious amounts of olive oil saturated the bag before I left the parking lot (see attached pic). My husband was not a fan either and we left the loaf of bread out for the pigeons. read more

Stopped here on the way up to Mendocino and loved it so much we came back on our return drive! The staff are super friendly and helpful. The cafe was light and spacious with plenty of seating. Plenty of parking in the lot. There is a good variety of pastries, breads, quiche, toast with different toppings, and other breakfast options. Order at the counter. Quiche-- it was jiggly!! Like when you moved the plate, the thing jiggled!! I hate when quiches are too eggy like they have a scrambled egg texture, or when they're too creamy and feels like you're eating just cream. This one was PERFECTly in the middle. Super well done, flaky crust, and great flavors. Pistachio Knot-- so good. Had light pistachio flavors and there was a good amount of crispy textures as well as moist and buttery bread that pulled apart beautifully Onion and Parm Biscuit-- also incredible. Few bistro style eating areas right around the bakery and some picnic tables scattered at the edges of the parking lot. Easy walk from Healdsburg Plaza. Definitely recommend getting there super early if going on a weekend day since they get slammed with hour long wait being typical. I ordered a Matcha with oat milk and ginger honey. It was SPECTACULAR and by far my favorite thing I had. We settled on a Kouign Amann and two Caneles. Both pastries were not as good as I remember. All pastries are displayed behind glass windows. I would say come on the earlier side if you want variety. Very small storefront space. Quail and Condor was my favorite "secret" (in my head) that I enjoyed making the drive from Santa Rosa/Sebastopol for in the early mornings. Nestled on one of the main throughways of Healdsburg, Quail and Condor is placed on a humble lot with some parking that used to be easier to access but now seems to get crowded after they became NYTimes famous! Long ago are the days where I could easily get in and out of the bakery that serves some of the flakiest croissants, wonderfully overfilled oatmeal creme pie cookies, and delicious and large cinnamon rolls! Now looking at Q&C in 2025, I still decide to make the drive up and battle my way to finding a parking spot just to get myself in a lengthy line to be able to get my hands on their baked goods. My family and I absolutely love their croissants (nothing beats their ham and cheese)! If planning to visit and you've never been before, I highly recommend getting here extremely early as we've made the mistake of coming even around 11 and they only had a handful of items left. I always go for the cinnamon rolls as I can't find anywhere else that serves a multitude of cream cheese frosting on the top! I have yet to find something bad to say about this place or their products. They also have a drink and pastry with Dandelion, which was I tempted to order and try. The line moves relatively quickly and the pastries were flakey, buttery and delicious. The kouign amann was also something I wished I ordered as I love those, though it didn't look like it had the signature caramelized sugar coating. Delicious baked goods! The new location is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a pastry. However, I was very disappointed in the iced vanilla latte I ordered and would not recommend their drinks. The espresso was incredibly weak and the vanilla syrup nearly absent. "Are we going to Quail and Condor today?" Be prepared for this question if you're kind enough to share this gem of a bakery with someone. This unassuming roadside bakery in healdsburg is worth making the drive to. Everything they make is fantastic and quality. I tried: quiche, kouign amann, caramelized honey morning bun, scone, canele, epi, pane siciliano The poor staff was so patient with us when we ordered. It's a tough decision when everything looks so good. Of all the things I tried, there was only 1 pastry that I preferred from a bakery at home in RI, and that's the kouign amann, for me, Quails didn't have the signature caramelized almost creme Brule like glaze that makes kouign amann so special. The quiche though, if you told me I could only have quiche one last time before i die, I'd pick this quiche. It's insanely rich, but it is so delicious. Creamy, velvety, savory, it's honestly almost like eating a savory cheesecake with the most delicious buttery and flaky pastry crust. Try it and share it to save room for.... The caramelized honey morning bun: The next standout for me was this thing. I took a bite into the caramelized honey infused pastry cream and literally said "Holy sh...". If that cream was slapped in a supermarket hotdog bun I'd eat it no questions. But no, they didn't stop at the cream, the flaky layered pastry dough was so light, so crispy and structural enough to support the cream. If you don't want something so rich (maybe to pair with the quiche like I did) go with the scone. A nice, crispy, buttery, simple scone. The sugared top was a perfect extra layer of crunch and sweetness. The filling was some kind of berry, which escapes me, but it was very good. Going to some wineries or to a relative's? Be a hero and grab some bread. The epi was perfect to savagely rip pieces off of after a wine tasting and the pane siciliano was what a relative grabbed to take to a lunch stop when we were meeting up with some other family that lived out here. All sourdough, all tasty and has a nice fluffy, moist texture. Slight tang, not too much and crisp crust, just the right thickness. I don't know what else I can say. Just go here and plan on coming back. You'll want everything. Just have a game plan because this place doesn't have seating. There is a little square a little further up the street.
