All around AMAZING!!! I went on a Wednesday afternoon, and there was no wait to order! The girl was incredibly friendly taking my order, and then a wonderful lady directed my boyfriend, dog, and I to their backyard which was huge!! They had card/board games, ping pong, corn hole, and a really cool stage for live music. The staff was so friendly to my dog too which is so huge for me! The atmosphere was so kind and welcoming. The food, pizza and wings, were really fantastic and came out quite quickly. We stayed around to play some uno and hangout, because we really just didn't want to leave. Thank god we talked to Beth at Bonzo's in Guerneville because she told us about this amazing find. The pizza was absolutely delicious. It's something I will dream about for years to come. We had a pizza with sausage, roasted pineapple, and shallots and it was to die for. Seriously. We also had a caesar salad which was topped with lots freshly shaved parm. OMG so good. The atmosphere is also great with a large seating area inside and an even bigger area outside with lots of picnic tables, games, a stage and plenty of room for kids to safely hang out. Food is great and it's a good vibe. We have been here several times but it's a 50/50 chance that the food takes forever to get to you. One time we waited 1 hour and 45 minutes. We kept checking in and asking the staff about it. Turns out they gave our pizza away to someone with the same name even though it was a number system?? Another time we ordered pizza to go and were sitting there for about an hour and our pizza had just been sitting on the counter.... We awkwardly asked if we could grab it? I opened it in the car and it was cold so it must have been sitting there for awhile and no one brought it to us. Again we had a number literally sitting at the bar right there. My other observation is that some patrons need to be cut off!!!! We were sharing a picnic table with some folks who had been there drinking for 4 hours and the woman was out of her mind drunk. Three weeks in and Wonderland Pizzeria is already doing more right than wrong, which is more than I can say for most of my life decisions. Tucked into the Russian River's favorite funky little town, the menu leans into local pride with seven pizzas named after area legends, plus salads, fries, wings, beer, and wine -- everything a river town civilization needs to thrive. The owner is apparently an audiophile (the good kind, not the kind who won't stop talking about their turntable), because the 70s playlist was chef's kiss and live music lands on weekends. The outdoor space is genuinely impressive -- umbrellas, a ping pong table, a fire pit -- clearly someone wrote some large checks and had big feelings about al fresco dining. For Monte Rio, it's practically a resort. The Caesar salad was excellent. We skipped the fries, but our neighbors declared them the best they'd ever had -- a bold claim I'm choosing to believe. A guy nearby described the wings as "fire," and I'm holding that in my heart for next time. Now. The pepperoni pizza. It looked like someone accidentally dumped the pepperoni bucket and just... went with it. Presentation: chaotic. Crust: outstanding. Taste: genuinely excellent. The food and ambience was incredible! What a great little spot for families with kids. They have a huge outdoor dining area that is dog and kid friendly with lots of things for the kids to do like connect four, ping pong, large rocks to jump on and cornhole. They also had live music when we went on a Friday night! The only thing was the service was extremely slow... It took an hour to get a pepperoni pizza. But otherwise, it was great! Went to Wonderland on the Fourth of July and knew it was gonna be busy! I made my sister and cousin go with me and we sat outside on a planter box while we waited for a pizza and had a great time listening to the band! Once we got our pizza, we found a table inside by the back patio bar, and I have to say this was excellent pizza. I wish I would've tried the salad and wings because they look so good going by! The staff was on it and it looked like we're having lots of fun and the owners were bouncing around, saying hello to everyone and checking in. I grew up on new york and New Jersey pizza - a slice of "plain" pie. California pizza generally, to be kind, sucks in comparison- a big wad of doughy gooey trash. But not here! This is the best pizza in California! And today, I had a slice of Ray's in New York. Was the crust better (yes, crisp the way I like it). But, to be honest, Wonderland's pizza is better - better ingredients, better flavor, fermented organic crust. And crust crispiness? Look, they are about 80% of the way there. And that's 80% better than every other slice I've had in California. But, and I'm a little shocked to be admitting this. After I finished off Ray's slice. I didn't want another one. I wanted a slice of Wonderland pizza next! And I will, next week, when I get back home to California. I've always told my friends in California that nobody in our fine state knows how to make Pizza or bagels. And that is still true for bagels. But Pizza? Wonderland, you got me. And I'm still in a state of wonder about it. P.S. What a fantastic time and yummy food!! The owners Brian and Kelly are soo welcoming and thoughtful. Great to see that they have some good local chardonnay on the menu as well as many beers! We had a group meet up around the fire pit and when it started to get chilly Brain came out and asked us if we wanted it lit! (Yes, please) Blankets are given out if you're cold and washed regularly.. so that's great and a bonus! There are guitars and banjos on the wall, feel free to pick one up and play (that was fun) The cute garden is a nice touch for fresh basil and tomatoes, so yummy and now they are putting in a stage for live music! After a beautiful hike nearby what's better than pizza and cold drinks! The pizza came out quickly and was delicious and crispy/doughy as good pizza should be. Our dog especially appreciated the huge outdoor area with plenty of seats and shade. If you have kids- bring them! Giant jenga and ping- pong among other things to entertain them. Wow! After the closure of Hazel in Occidental there was a void of high quality pizza in West County. Sonoma Pizza is ok but gets major points deducted for $30 12" pies. Wonderland's crust is NY style and they knocked it out of the park. Thin and crunchy, no skimping on the pepperoni. The Caesar salad is fantastic. I hear the fries and wings are also amazing & can't wait to try. It gets crowded but there's plenty of seating inside and out. They have a small stage for live music, ping pong, board games, a bar area, communal picnic tables. They did a fantastic job with the remodel. It's really a great place to hang out and eat amazing food. Only gripes are they brought my salad after the pizza, sold out items were not crossed off the menu (so you don't know until you order), and confusion by the food runners. A pager system would reduce chaos but maybe they have a good reason not to. Also the last time I went the cashier said they only had pizza and fries (tried to order the Caesar) but heard other people after me ordering the Chix salad. Would have loved to try it. New pizza joint in downtown Monte Rio. Opened on 5/22. Not sure what the building was in previous incarnations, but the new interior is wood plank with open beams with simple metal chairs and tables. Comfortable and welcoming. Open kitchen to the front dining area. Inside Seating in the front and rear of the building with outdoor seating behind the side parking with Adirondack chairs and fire pits. The entrance is thru a giant Greek letter pi... Thechallway to the rear of the building has historical pictures on one side and local art on the other. Limited menu at this time. Working the kinks out I guess. Another quirk is that, they currently do not take take-out orders over the phone. We ordered the Baxman to go. Did not ask who or what the name comes from. A question for another visit. Busy night, waited 55mins for the pie, but worth the wait. Very tasty. Decent crust l, great sauce and ample toppings. Staff was busy, but friendly and attentive. I love the idea of this pizzeria, and I want them to succeed. We came here once and was able to get a pizza that we could eat, and it was good. No veggie pizza, but they were willing to put some veggies on their cheese pizza. The patio is great and the owners are wonderful. But the second time we came, they made it so there are no substitutions or additions to their pizzas. Which means that there is no pizza here that we can eat, and that's frustrating. Living way out here and not having options for eating out GENERALLY, and then making this decision has lost yet another option for us to enjoy eating out without an even longer drive. This place has really been upgraded since the last restaurant. It is modern and feels very comfortable. The folks working there appear to want their guests to have a grand time. There is art about the history of the area, including pizzas that describe different honorable mentions from around Monte Rio. Oh, the food, the pizza crust is from sourdough and it is good. I think the pizza itself is good and this place offers a good option for locals or folks visiting without having to drive that much. The wings with BBQ were outstanding. My husband and I stopped here a few weeks ago for the first time. We ordered the Baxman, an order of fries, and beer. At the cash register, we specified that we wanted the pizza to go but that we wanted to have our beer and fries dine-in while we waited for the pizza. We were given a number and waited outside. The ambiance was pretty nice; there was a variety of board and lawn games to play as well as live music and plenty of seating. One thing that confused us however was the order of operations. We waited for about 7 minutes before questioning where we were supposed to get our beer from. I ended up asking the guy working at the bar and he provided them immediately but it wasn't made clear to us that that's what we were supposed to do. Then we saw many people who had ordered after us getting their food first. We flagged down an employee to inquire about our fries and he said unfortunately the pizza had finished first and asked if we still wanted the fries. We said yes and he brought them to us. We asked if they had ketchup and he seemed very confused about that question which further confused us too but he was able to find us a bottle. Sadly it was empty. The fries otherwise were good and the pizza was good as well. Seems like just a few kinks that need to be worked out and would appreciate some clearer direction given to patrons. read more

Looks like a nice place and good food just maybe not for takeout at least for our experience. We had a long day and thought we'd just pick up a pizza from them but it was completely cremated after waiting an hour for it. I've never had such an overcooked pizza. We will probably wait awhile and go back and try it again and eat there vs takeout. We sat on the patio while waiting and most of the meals from the patrons around us looked good.
