    Hole in wall

    Was expecting delivery today of my bedroom furniture after ordering on 5/15 and being told it would arrive the first week in June. Received a call on Thursday 7/15 confirming my delivery for today and received a text and email Friday 7/16 with my delivery window. Then Taft called at 9am saying delivery was canceled, no explanation why. Can't get my furniture for two more weeks, so guess I will keep living out of suit cases. Super disappointed and likely won't return when we purchase living room furniture and office furniture in the future. While they did apologize and said they will refund my delivery/setup fee, an explanation for the last minute canceling would have been appreciated, especially after spending over $8,000. Got my furniture delivered today and they put a hole in the wall of my brand new house, NEVER will go back to Taft again. Not to mention every piece of furniture has damage.

    This large furniture showroom offers no frills and decent prices for living rooms, dining rooms, home office, bedroom sets, area rugs, lamps, kids furniture, and more including plenty of deeply discounted closeouts. A greeter will introduce themselves to you inside, give you their business card, and let you roam the store freely. Sat in some very comfortable leather couches!! LOCATION: It's the furniture store on Central Ave with lotsa-lotsa of parking out front, approximately 780 FEET OF BARE PAVEMENT from the Central Ave to the front of the building. NO JOKE!! Locally, it was a great place to learn how to drive, especially learning to drive a stick because the lot was flat, empty near the road and had no conflicting vehicles. Even my local driver's ed class used it to practice winter driving maneuvers. "So, wanna go driving? Sure, Taft Furniture parking lot!!!" That's the first place that comes to mind. This huge parking lot was also used as a major shuttle lot to the nearby Extreme Makeover house in 2007. Presently, guide posts with chains are installed, probably for safety reasons to discourage speeding and unsafe driving in the lot. The huge lot gets very little use most of the time, so why not develop it into something interesting?

    Bought a junk box spring from them after the salesman swore by it!Had to work on it until I could buy a new one.Bought a whole new bed from them and the salesman said they would take the old box spring away but they wouldn't. Had the bed for about 2 weeks and it sunk in the middle. Opened it up and the center support was crooked,they forgot 2 boards!There was supposed to be 5 boards and they only used 3!Had to go buy the boards and fix the center support myself. Who knows what got tweaked and weakened during that 2 weeks!

    Newest update Joanne. Obviously your as shady as the company you work fir and I now see why your Sales crew lie to sell the warranty. I'm sorry if I thought a couch I was told was great for pets lasted two months before ripped from me. I'm sorry that YOUR sales team who are trained... told he you cover up to 4 times fir pet damage! I contacted them to fix this tine for PET damage no wear and tear months ago. My pet ripped the seams and as it rips more it peaks the pleather away it's not wear and tear. Don't BS with with mixing ny words. Because it's taking 3 months since I have made this claim the let's have damaged it more. So no.... you read the contract. You have not fixed for pet savage which means you have defaulted on the warranty and I want a refund! Easy. Or I will take you to small claims court. It's nice to know that you care so little about customer satisfaction and the training of your staff. Facts are the contract says it will fix pet damage one ever, even though ur team says 4 times, and when I'm requesting it to be fixed, your denying it. That's a breach. You cannot tell me what damage or that my damage was not by my pet. I have a cane Corso who is 140 pounds, an American bulldog who is 100 and a boxer that is 60. The tips are not only on the seams but are everywhere because of the pets. Because you haven't fixed it, it has rubbed off and spread. Facts. To all future customers.... Taft sells an inferior product sold by unprofessional people who lie to get you to buy the warranty. The sales guy and the mgr who ok'd everything both said they'd fix for all pet damage up to 4 times. Yet... they won't even fix once. Update it's april.... couch still not fixed. Contacted raft with no response. Please caution when buying anything from them and purchasing the warranty that isn't being honored. Bought a couch by recommendation from sales associate. Was " great " for pets. The salesman basically lied and sold us the warranty , which was expensive because they fix all parts, including up to "4 times " for pet damage. We said no but was bombarded and drilled to reconsider. Finally we gave in and bought the expensive warranty. We had it less than 4 months before the arm and pillow ripped. They took about a month to fix. We mentioned nothing about pet damage because this wasn't. About 9 months after we bought it, the couch got ripped again all over from pet. 4 of 5 cushions ripped at seems and other place. Huge rip on base from god knows what. The quality is horrible I just want to say. I submitted another order to fix with pics. A month later, I heard nothing so I called. Apparently they never received my pics and we only had 30 days or would be denied. Think god I called cuz the 30 days were almost up. The lady from montage was unprofessional rude and blamed everything on me. I got the pics to them again . A week later I get an enrollment that we were denied. They says they don't cover normal wear and tear/ stitching, etc. only structural or accidental. It was structural??? The whole couch is falling apart less than 9 months later!!! Of course it's structural. Than they said they only cover 1 pet damage! Lies!!! Someone isn't telling the truth. 100% the salesman and Mgr at Taft who wrote us up who and Also talked us into opening a credit account.... 100% said covers up to 4 pet damage incidents! Montage said they lied. And now we're screwed. Don't go there. The sake team lies, the banged ya a con artist, and the warranty service is rigged

    A "sale" for New Year's that has the same price in July? Was it a sale at all?

    I filed a complaint about Taft Furniture with the NYS AG office and BBB. I went in a few weeks ago looking at sofas, and noted the price of one I liked. I waited since July 4 was coming so I figured there would be a sale, which there was. I went back in expecting the advertised "20% sale" to make the price I saw 20% less. The couch was the same price, just with a tag that now had a flag on it. I asked why, and the salesman said that was the sale, and I said it is the same price as before the sale, so that's not a sale. See, they have a "List" price, and this is 20% off that price, but that was the price before the sale.. so this seemed like a fake sale. I went home, took a screenshot of the price. Then, went back in the Google Cache and found it from June 5, same price. I called, and some guy in Marketing called me back. I told him I think this is deceptive marketing, since I believe the price is always what it currently is, so you can't say it's a sale price when it's always the price. Of course, he disagreed trying to explain some shell game of prices, and I kept saying "if it's not really sold for that price, it's not the price" for what he kept saying the price is... which is really the "List" price they don't sell at. I told him of the My Pillow lawsuit, where he used to say "buy one get one free" so much that he was sued for deceptive advertising. The "buy one get one" went on for so long it showed that the price was really for 2, not 1 where you'd get one free. As in, his "sale" for 2 was fraudulent. This, I believe, is the same. The guy finally said he'd send me an email with something so I could go get what I was lead by his advertising to get.. 20% off the price. I never got it. I gave a follow-up call, no return. I emailed, no return. So, I filed a report for the NYS AG about this advertising practice. And, I filed with the BBB for both that, and the fact they said they would do something, and have not. Unfortunately, for them, I record all my phone calls (one-person consent state). Not sure if they think I'll go away. But, I won't. But, people should also beware that when they are saying they are having a sale, they in fact may not be lowering their prices during the sale from any other time. It's deceptive. As of right now, their website shows the same price for the sofa as it did during the fake "Independence Day Sale", which is the same as before that sale. These images aren't of the one I was looking at. Just an illustration of the misleading advertising. One is a screenshot of THEIR AD, leading you to believe that sofa is not usually $499. The other is a screenshot of their website RIGHT NOW, with that same price. Why? Because it's probably always the price. Their advertised sales aren't always really sales. BE AWARE that if you are going in for a "sale" price, it may not actually be one at all. And BEWARE that when you complain to the BBB and AG office and take your experience online, they will make ad hominem attacks on you. Don't feel pressured or fall for any possibly misleading ads by Taft. JUSTIN CRESSWELL, at al, do not like that people tell their honest account of what happens online. He does not like that consumers or individuals break no laws by recording phone calls (legal in NY). They like to complain someone is not acting in good faith, when they did not (Justin Cresswell) follow through on what he said he would do. I wouldn't believe what Justin Cresswell said if his tongue was notarized.

    I bought a couch. I love it. A year and a half later one of the cushion's zipper blew out. It was out of warranty and thought I'd just have to live with it. I went to Taft to look around and mentioned it to the sales clerk and she made sure I got a call the following Monday. They ordered me a new cover for my couch cushion no charge! I was so happy that I went back and bought a kitchen set. It's so nice and was discounted for President's day! Very nice quality. The table even has a leaf. I'm going to look for a bedroom set now. This will be my first stop! Thanks Taft for standing behind your furniture!

So if you want to pay $80 for a cotton print tablecloth, in theory you can be helping the world out. Oh, the problems in execution, though. They can't really tell you how much of the money goes back to the native craftspeople, nor much about the sourcing or labor conditions. It's like Fair Trade coffee - you have to take somebody's word for it, and the word is passed along by the telephone game. I'd actually be willing to do this on faith if the crafts and items here were really unique or even to my taste, but they seem a bit mass-produced to me and without the hallmarks of individual craftsmen, so I'm not only not terribly interested in the goods but I'm highly suspicious of the general claims. This may seem a bit scroogey of me, but I think on the whole if I want to stimulate development in the third world I'll extend a microloan over the internet (very direct and very cost-effective) or buy somebody a share of a goat. I would normally just settle on the usual three stars, given my cynical skepticism above, but the hideously steep prices push it from "would go back and check it out occasionally" to "not going to bother" territory.

I really enjoy home decorating, and as a busy full-time working mom, I thought this would be a fun Saturday morning self care activity and hoped to pick up a couple new tips for my holiday decor. I arrived a few minutes early and waited in the cold (in full view of the staff) until they unlocked the door. I was told to put my stuff down and do a little "pre-shop" before they got started. Then the "teacher" basically asked what we (myself and 3 older ladies who came as a group) wanted to learn. I explained why I signed up and she started walking us around the store suggesting items we could buy. I gave her a few minutes, but after a while I explained I wasn't there just to shop, and asked if she would be teaching any design tips. She acted like she had no idea what I was talking about, so I showed her the class description. She was still confused so then she asked another employee to help me, as if I was asking for something special. I finally left because clearly they had no knowledge to share and I had just wasted my precious little free time. Calling this a class is comical. It was a total disappointment!

Was I looking for something in particular ?No. But there in front of me was a lovely little handmade basket with handles that could double as a tote bag. It was speaking to me. I checked the price. It was affordable especially when you considered the workmanship. Sold! The owner of the business, Justine, welcomed me and asked me if I needed any gifts. She showed me some beautiful handmade cloth tote bags which fold into zippered clutches. They came in stunning colors and would make awesome gifts for about $20 apiece. I bought two. That was fast. I gave them away as soon as I got home so I have nothing to show. They received rave reviews. Though my shopping experience began with gifting a basket to myself, I've since found reasons to return to West Africa Treasures to make more purchases for friends and family. There's a great deal of variety, including jewelry, housewares, drums, sculptures and personal care products. Justine has a second store at Colonie Center. Her prices are reasonable. I think many of the handmade items are classy. There's also online sales which can be done through the West Africa Treasures website. I bought some earrings online to give as gifts. Justine takes great care in providing excellent customer service. After I made the online purchase, she followed up to let me know when to expect the package. The earrings arrived on time and looked wonderful. They were exactly as pictured! They made great Christmas presents. Thanks, West Africa Treasures!
