Most likely the bulb had come loose from its connection. They did that but here's the amazing part of the story. Mike asked if the car could be brought there that day. I said the car was parked at the MBTA commuter rail station and that a set of car keys was available at my house. He went to my house, received the car keys from my neighbor, picked up and returned the car from the MBTA parking lot, returned the keys to my neighbor and fixed the issue. AMAZING.

The shop has such a buttoned up process for intake, arranging rentals, dealing with the insurance company, etc. It's the easiest and most comfortable experience.
