Friendly, fast, and honest. What more could you ask for? I knew I had to write a review about Rays after my most recent visit. It is unusual to feel so good leaving an auto repair shop. Let's be honest, there is nothing fun about getting your car repaired. It's usually inconvenient, expensive, and those waiting rooms can suck the happiness out of even the most jovial of people. This is not the case at Ray's. The staff really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Everyone smiles at you and, though they are always busy, they always take to time to be thorough in all they do. I personally went in due to a weird noise (I sounded like a typical caller on "Car Talk" when I explained the issue). It turned out to be a tire that was deteriorating and had morphed into an oval shape instead of a round shape. When I asked if I should go ahead and replace the other rear tire so as to not have an old and a new mixed together the man at Ray's was so honest! He inspected the tread and told me that buying a second tire wouldn't be necessary. Any other repair shop would have taken that opportunity to sell me something I didn't really need. But that's Ray's for you. They will give you honest, common sense advice with a smile. These are the types of businesses that deserve to be recognized. Kudos to you Ray's. Thank you for being a bright spot in such a seemingly crooked industry. You have made a lifelong customer out of me. read more

I went to another tire service in town to have them look at my flat tire. They told me my tire was ruined and quoted me $220 for a new tire and alignment. I took my car to Ray's and they looked at my tire and found a 2 inch piece of metal stuck into my tire. They repaired the tire, filled the rest of the tires with air and I was on my way within 1 hour. The total was $28. I was so pleased with my service I came back the next week for an oil change. The man who helped me signed me up for Ray's reward club and gave me $20 off my service. It ended up being $11. This place is the absolute best! I would recommend it to anyone. My 12 year old Caddy needed front suspension work - that dreaded clunk when going over a bump. This can happen after 110,000 miles :) I'd had a couple of less-than-satisfactory experiences at the local dealership recently, and good luck about a year ago with Ray's for tires, so I thought I'd give them a try with this. Both times I've been there the whole crew at Ray's has been fantastic. It's an old-school sort of place, and everyone is friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable with them. Jason set an appointment for me when I called and Mike and his guys did the troubleshooting. They found the problem and had a written estimate in my hand in about an hour. Great price, too, especially compared with the dealer's rates. Mike took the time to explain what needed to be done and what the estimate entailed, and how long it would take to do. It all looked good to me, so I asked him to order the parts and set me with a day to do the work. So yesterday was the day. Jason grabbed my keys when I came in the door (and knew me by name) and sped off to the shop. They were driving my car into the bay as I left 5 minutes later. When the work was done that afternoon - at the time he said it would be - Mike called to let me know. I arrived to find the work done well: my car is very happy with road bumps now. No more clunk - it feels solid and confident again. The bill was exactly the same as the estimate with no surprises. I feel I certainly got my money's worth. I'll go back to Ray's for anything my car needs in the future, for sure. read more

ok so I take my 98 Toyota Corolla to Toyota because I keep having battery issues they try to tell me I need the whole electrical harness replaced, tune of over 1000.00 so I say I need a second opinion and the salesperson says to me, " well you don't have car payments so you can afford the repair",, HUH? did i just hear that... stupid thing to say ... and sign of a true crook! So off I go and pull into Rays ... They take one look and they see the cable wires are frayed some dont even wrap the battery properly and a little corrosion, so they stretch the cable up, clean it , cut it off fresh re-wrap, add some new clamps and some special anti corrosion gook and 1 hour and 75.00 later Im back on the road and have not had a problem with my battery since (that was 3 years ago). Needless to say I will never buy anything from this Toyota EVER ... at least not the one here but I would trust my cars to Rays. When it comes to vehicles , Honesty is the treasure your looking for ... I just wish I could remember my particular mechanics name... Job Well done read more

While on vacation to St. Augustine, from St. Louis, MO, our check engine light and "service stabilitrack" warning came on in our 2008 Acadia. I keep up regular maintenance on our vehicles and do most of the work myself when I can, so I was very uncomfortable being so far from home with such a mysterious warning warning light. This could have meant anything. After reading reviews on here, I decided to trust Ray's and I'm so happy that I did. It turned out that my engine had burned quite a bit of oil on the long trip and the warning lights were caused by low oil pressure. After a diagnostics check and oil change, they had us back on vacation. Thank you guys, especially Rick and his team, for your service! Today these folks really came through for me. All of a sudden car died. In rain of course. Aaa came and jumped it. They said battery gone. I drove to Rays and they got right on it. Required a battery they did not have so they sent for it and put it in and I was gone in less than 90 minutes altogether. I went to Ray's tire pros based on the great yelp reviews. I needed a front end alignment/tire rotation & I set up the appointment for later in the week. I went in yesterday and had the work done and they did an excellent job! My jeep feels much better and not only did they align the front end but they did the rear end... I also thought the price was very fair. What kept this from being a five-star experience was a lack of that Southern go out of your way friendliness. Both times when I walked into the facility employees were talking amongst themselves and it wasn't until they were ready to acknowledge me that they did. It took a long time to do this work (2 hours) and if my wife hadn't picked me up I would've been bored stiff at the facility. Lastly when I dropped my jeep off I almost changed my mind because they seemed so nonchalant & it made me feel going to treat my vehicle. When I picked up my jeep I was really surprised to find a computer print out to show the specs before and after the alignment and a full explanation as to what was done. I would highly recommend this facility and hope that they make a few changes with their customer service. read more

Had 4 new tires put on our Cadillac today. Super friendly staff and pretty fast service. I went in last week to get a quote and see how long it would take to get he tires ordered. I got a printout of the quote and went home. I called in a couple days later to ask them to order the tires & make a service appointment. I didn't see any charge on the quote for nitrogen, so I asked on the phone and was told it was $8 per tire. When I got there, they took the car in right away and the service was done very close to the time frame they gave me, that was great! But when it was time to pay, the amount was higher than the quote ... first because the nitrogen wasn't on the quote, and second because it was actually $8.50 per tire. Tires are already an expensive purchase that need to be budgeted in carefully, but to not get an accurate quote, and for a place that is a "tire expert" to not know up front that nitrogen was needed, or even mention it to see if that's what the tires were currently filled with, was a little disappointing. This type of miscommunication with customers usually leads to the customer shipping elsewhere. read more

Amazing service I called with a brake concern and they quickly got me an appointment and a rough est of repair cost. I dropped off the car after they closed and they called me early the next morning with the repair information and had the car ready same day. Price was fair for repair needed and suggested a couple of other things that needed to be done in the future with no press to get it done that day. I needed tires BADLY for my truck, and after doing some online price checking at some of the other discount tire places, I decided to check at Ray's Good Year and see how they stacked up. I found a great set of Good Year tires cheaper at Ray's than the sale prices at the other stores! Not only did I find the tires I wanted at a great price, but I was able to order the tires, make an appointment, and have an estimate in hand all over their website. I showed up the next afternoon and they took me right in. They had the tires on hand and proceeded to get right to work on swapping out the tires on my truck. After getting the tires on, they give me a quick rundown on the areas they looked at and some things I would need to get fixed down the road. Incredibly friendly staff, very helpful and kind, and I got a great deal on some new tires. Even the waiting room was nice- very open and relaxing, and they offer free phone chargers and wifi to pass the time. Definitely recommended for new tires, or for any other type of auto repair. read more

We had a low tire and we are from IA so we pulled into this tire shop. A gentleman came out and checked all our tires and found our problem, a screw. We found out we needed new tires. Within 15 minutes, our vehicle was inside getting new tires. Upon further inspection, we were informed we should have new front brakes put on and of course an alignment. This was Friday afternoon so an appointment was made for Monday morning at 8 am for the brakes and alignment. We dropped the car off at 8 am and they had us on the road by 10! This is our tow vehicle and it could have been a bad situation while being towed since we had planned to leave on Sunday. The staff is very friendly and worked with us to get us in the road Monday morning. Highly recommend this place. read more

So I have California license plates and a Miami address and get a flat tire in St Augustine.... I am there for the first time driving through town! I go to Ray's Tire Pro just because I see it down the street! I figured I was ready to be taken advantage of, out of towner fleecing I expected! OMG...they were terrific!!! Jim took my information, he was super nice, and had me in and out in no time... and they were very inexpensive! To top that off they gave me a little cloth bag to safeguard my security wheel nut wrench...had TV in the waiting room and to top that off had multiple charger cords on a display where I was able to charge my ipad and 2 iphones! All of that for $26.00 + tax! I am so thankful that Ray's was so honest and kind during this difficult trip! read more

I called about 11am on a Thursday and was able to get an appointment for an oil change at 3:30 that afternoon. I actually showed up about 15 min early and they took my car immediately. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. The gentleman at the front desk had me sign up for the rewards program and it gave me an instant $20 off. My oil change ended up being only $11. They were fast, friendly and didn't try and up sell me any services that I didn't need. I'll definitely be recommending this place to folks. read more

Not wanting big payments, I always try to buy slightly used cars and therefore need a good mechanic. I just recently located here from my long time home, where I had a good friend who was one of the top mechanics in the area. Not long after coming here, I had a terrible experience with a dealership which hastened my search for a trustworthy shop. Ray's was recommended to me by a friend who has been going there for over 10 years, which in itself says a lot. I had three vehicles, all of which needed service of one kind or another. Look no further, Ray's is as good as it gets! After numerous trips there to get my vehicles in order, including getting one ready for a trip back up north, the positive experiences are too numerous to detail. From Albert, Jason and Chris out front, to Mike the mechanic who personally talks to you about your car's situation, I actually look forward to visiting them as they make you feel like an old friend and provide the service to back it up. I will share two examples. On the vehicle that was going 1800 miles back up north, I asked Jason if he thought I needed new tires. He said no, there was enough wear left on them. I checked with my mechanic once I got back up north and he agreed. Jason could very easily have sold me new tires I didn't need, but didn't. Another time, my A/C wasn't working. Mike quoted me a price after spending an hour diagnosing the problem, at no charge by the way. I recalled that a local dealership had supposedly repaired that problem within the past year. I went back to the dealership and after a bit of a challenge (see my Beaver Toyota review), they fixed their screw-up. I went back to Ray's and told Mike the situation and tried to pay him for his time, but he refused! Unbelievable! You just don't see superior service with the long term customer in mind anymore! So it goes without saying that I won't even consider another car repair shop. And I am in a position locally that both guests and residents come to me constantly for local business recommendations. When they ask about car repair, tires, etc., not only will I promote Ray's, but I will insist they go there. You would have to be a complete idiot to go anywhere else! read more

I purchased a new set of tires for my 2009 Toyota 4Runner as the old ones were wearing thin. When I picked up the SUV, there was a noticeable shimmy at 65 mph. I had the folks at Ray's re-balance the tires multiple times with no improvement. Finally, I took the car back and said "don't call me until it is fixed". Michael in the Service Dept was dubious that replacing the struts and mounts would solve my problem. That afternoon, Michael called to report that the problem had been solved. I got 2 new tires at no cost. Throughout this process the staff was cooperative and cordial. I was never asked to pay one cent for any of their effort. It is this kind of service and integrity that makes me a loyal customer. And, their prices are reasonable. :-) read more

Wow! I had an wonderful experience here! I am a new customer and Mike knew I needed a car after overheating mine. He found one through another customer that wanted to sell his. Dean led me through the process, offered it to me at a very fair price, and gave it a thorough look over to make sure it was in good condition. There were some small things that needed attention and they took care of those. I love my "new" Subie and feel well taken care of by Dean, Mike and the team there. I truly feel like they cared about my experience and that means everything. After dealing with used car salesmen and private owners who were often disingenuous, this was a happy ending to my car hunt. read more
