Tried Ray's for the first time today. The food was fantastic, I had a canzone. Generous portions. Service was fast and courteous.

Just wanted to send a note that the Tiramisu Cake ordered and picked up on Thursday July 2 for to celebrate my brother's birthday was a hit. This is his favorite dessert. Siblings were in town for the 4th of July holiday. He LOVES Tiramisu and raved that it was great and awaken at 2 am in the morn for another bite. He has best friends that are Sicilian and Italian. He raved over your dessert and I wanted to share with you. Thank you for making his birthday a joyous one. We will be back when he returns to Houston. Today's cold , rainy weather was a perfect day for Ray's "La Nona" dish of pasta with a salad and toasty garlic bread. Absolutely my favorite dish. Actually, they're probably all equally good. The deserts are wonderful ! I always leave Ray's, looking forward to the next visit. I pass many other Italian restaurants getting there, but nothing else feels like his Nona's family dining table. Hungry and hoping to watch the SF 49ers win the Super Bowl, which they unfortunately lost in for the third time going to since the 2012-2013 year, I came to this cafe ordering the Chicken Cannelloni. It was very rich, aromatic, comforting and very delicious all the way through. The pasta itself was very soft and cooked properly. The creamy gravy was very tasty, tomatoey, peppery, dense and just made very well with numerous ingredients. The chicken and creamy spinach filling were very tasty as well pairing with the rest in a highly positive contrast. The complimentary salad and garlic bread were very good with the meal and made with care like the main course. The food was very fresh, good quality and full of flavor. My wife and decided to go somewhere new and we drove by Rays. I got a pepperoni pizza and it is full of flavor. We also got an order of cheesy garlic bread With alfredo sauce and they were amazing. We could have made a meal out of them. My wife got a build your own pasta meal. Not sure what it was. She loved it. The atmosphere is laid back and the service was fast and courteous. I've heard people give great reviews of this place, but I was not that impressed. I was there when a group of senior citizens were there. some of them had walkers and others had physical needs. They had to get up and go to the counter to order their food. There was no compensation for their needs. It just left me with a bad impression of the owners and managers. read more

I tried Ray's Italian Kitchen for a solo date and ordered a cheese pizza, which I enjoyed outside in their cozy sitting area--it was such a beautiful day. For dessert, I got to taste test the gelato, and it was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be stopping by again for another meal! read more

Staff was friendly but honestly the wasn't anything to be excited about. Pre-frozen cheese sticks and warm pizza sauce Lasagna was room temperature with a cold inside that they covered with hot pizza sauce. The pizza was ok. Nothing special or great about it. read more

This is my go to for quality, authentic, from scratch Italian. My favorite dish is the chicken rollatini. But you can't go wrong with any dish. Kids love their pizza and calzones, hubby loves the chicken parm and Stromboli... me, the chicken rollatini, lasagna, fettuccini Alfredo... their Caesar salad is so good too. This weeks' Texas Allstar Jeep club family outing was held here. A small strip center casual Italian establishment. The parking lot was fully capable of holding all our vehicles which was around 25 and still had spots available. For this inside we definitely took up the whole restaurant and also the 2 outdoor tables. Capacity around 50 people. The staff were very friendly and accommodating even with so many people. The food I didn't hear a single complaint...most ordered item was the pizza, I did not try this though. I went with some Fried Ravioli and a Cannelloni Danielle w/caesar salad. Fried Ravioli I shared amongst my table and it had a nice kick. From the people sitting at my table you can tell which ones eat spicy normally, are okay with it, and the ones who barely eat it. The barely ones were inhaling air to try and cool their mouths, though the others were complimenting the nice bit of spice they added. Cannelloni Danielle, now I don't know what was actually in it, but I literally sopped up every bit of it. It was a suggestion made by one of their waiting staff and I was glad he suggested it. Alcohol: They have beer and a small wine selection priced by the glass at $4 and $6 and bottle at $16 and $22. First time ordering from here. I had originally wanted chicken Marsala but went with the chicken Parmesan. To be honest, I didn't think anything would beat mine, but this was fantastic. It was a delivery. It was steaming hot when it was brought to my door. The salad was good. The bread was fantastic. The chicken was flavorful and crispy portion is huge. After a single visit, I know why this place gets such positive feedback. The atmosphere here is clean and comfortable; Service is excellent -- despite that patrons have to order at the counter; The food is quintessential 'made for the masses,' a la Olive Garden. As is usually the case on my first visit to an Italian joint, I ordered eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant was nicely sourced, with nary a tough bite. But it went downhill from there, with a sauce that tasted like tomatoes and salt, with not even a hint of basil. My side of spaghetti was obviously cooked in advance (in unsalted water), as it was bland and almost gummy. My wife had the stuffed cannelloni, which she gave high marks. That's a pretty big deal, considering she's a New York/New Jersey girl with a thing for Italian food. Our son ordered spaghetti with a couple of meatballs. He pushed them aside a couple of bites in. I, on the other hand, thought Pomodoro's did a decent job. Sure, they weren't braised in sauce. Neither did they look overly appetizing when brought to the table (see the photo and judge for yourself), but they were tender and melting. Not bad at all. Side salads here were fine. Fried calamari was on the tough side, and that's probably because they don't dip them in egg to hasten the browning process (again, see photo). Perhaps I'm too much of a food snob to give this place a better review. For sure, I'm in the minority. If you're looking for Olive Garden in a smaller more quaint atmosphere, this is it. If you are in the mood for Italian food such as you would be served in Little Italy, keep looking. read more

I received a coupon in the mail for Ray's and was eager to try something new. I went to Ray's on a chilly Wednesday night, so I figured why not indulge in some pizza. Let's just say Rays Italian Pizza is my new favorite pizza place. What makes Ray's so great? 1. The CRUST: Fluffy served warm and even better dipped in the delicate ranch dressing. 2. Hands down my favorite pizza in Houston. After moving into town, and 2 years of searching, I realized nothing in the area does it the way Rays does. I recently discovered this restaurant, the first couple of times we had a good experience. I recommended to a lot of people too. My fiancé asked where I wanted to go for our anniversary, as it was a weekday evening I chose Ray's. Sadly it was not eatable, we thought we could take home and "doctor it up" but it was even worse the next day. My fiance had told the server nicely how bad it was and she blamed the new prep person. $90.00 for the worst meal we've had, and on a special occasion. I really thought we'd found a great place but the experience left me iffy on trying them again. We just ate Pomodoro's (delivered) and it was just fantastic. I ordered on their website which at first seemed like an odd outsourced site but I have to say the order came perfect, on time, and actually delivered by someone in a Pomodoro's shirt, an in-house delivery?? Now that's rare. Anyways, the complementary salads with the meals were fresh, the dressings tangy and delicious, the crouton absolutely divine- crispy, buttery, delicious. We ordered the carbonara and la Nona, both fantastic dishes with cream, though the Nona seemed a little lighter given it has more of a tomato base and veggies. My toddler even loved it! The carbonara was loaded with flavor and toppings as seen in the picture, and was also delicious, but I favored the la Nona. All in it was a huge amount of food and honestly even with delivery at a very reasonable price. We used to always eat Pomodoro when we had family members at Methodist clear lake since it is near there, and rarely thought of picking it up for our house, but we'll have to add it as one of our regular restaurants given how delicious it was! read more

What a surprise this place is! We were in town post Galveston cruise, visiting NASA. My husband looked on Google maps for a place to eat afterwards that was close by. Ray's popped up and we decided to give it a whirl. The strip mall exterior is misleading and does not reflect the quality of the food. You order at the counter, then take your number on a stand and sit at one of the 20 or so tables and the food is delivered to you. For the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday, every table was taken. Holy cow was the food good. We ordered the Thai Chili wings and antipasto salad to munch on while we sat and waited for a pizza to go. The wings were outstanding! Perfect balance of sweet and hot and crispy. The salad had the cheese and meat cut and formed into heart shapes (just in time for Valentines day). We finished up and took our pizza to go and dine in our hotel room. Not sure we'll be back in Houston any time soon, but if we do, we know where to stop! Try the wings!! read more

To the management of Ray's Italian. My wife and I order out fairly regularly because we love the food. We would rather come by personally but we're both partially disabled. Can you please train your staff better? When we call the person on the phone oftentimes doesn't even know the menu. We got the wrong thing twice but didn't complain. It's the little things management. Also on your chicken rollatini the stuffed chicken, sometimes I get it grilled and sometimes sautéed. That should be grilled to get the maillard effect read more

Excellent, fresh from scratch everyday, Italian food for a great price in an unlikely place. Practically right outside the entrance to NASA. With its very unassuming facade, you most likely wouldn't come except my recommendation. That's how we found it. We were blown away by the immediate aroma from the moment our foot crossed the threshold. Next came the friendly greeting from the guy at the register (we later found out was Ray, the owner!) who was also rolling the silverware when we were leaving. Don't let all this casualness fool you. This place is no joke. I've eaten at many Italian restaurants in my time, and a lot much more expensive and posh than this one, but this one was equally as good or exceeded many of them. We both got a caesar salad with homemade croutons and big bowls of the daily soup, which this day was mushroom and broccoli. Delicious! This had some kind of exotic type of mushroom, not your run of the mill button or even portabella, sliced in this amazing creamy soup with fresh pieces of broccoli and (I think?) sun-dried tomatoes in it. We also brought home a large supreme pizza that absolutely was something to write home about! Or write yelp about anyway! So, we've been here twice in ONE week so what does that tell you? As I've mentioned before in previous reviews, my hubby is a pizza snob so it's not easy to impress him. We were actually in the mood for seafood one night but we drove past Pomodoro's and I told him how delicious it was. I hadn't eaten there in years but remembered loving it back then. It's great that the quality and service is still A+++. We split a medium Meat Lovers pizza. It has sausage, pepperoni, bacon, beef and Canadian bacon. It's too much meat for me but my husband prefers lots of meat. I always pick off the Canadian bacon and give it to him. This pizza is just perfect! Very cheesy and baked to perfection. The crust is simple yet delicious. It reminds me of Pillsbury crescent rolls. Yum! And they are NOT stingy with the toppings. This might be one of my husband's Top 3 favorite pizza places now. Everyone is so friendly there! The service is great and the food comes out quick. I can definitely see we will become regulars! We will most definitely be back! My coworker and I were looking for a place to dine in, and so many places are closed due to social distancing. We decided to try Pomodoro's and we are both so glad we did! She ordered a basic pepperoni calzone. It was huge and she said it was so good. I ordered the lunch Cannelloni Danielle with a side caesar salad. The salad was very good and super fresh. The cannelloni was delicious. The tomato cream sauce at Pomodoros is my new favorite thing! Would definitely get again. Also, let me say they are effective with their social distancing due to COVID. Came here w/ a Yankee friend who recommended it, so it was great company with Wendy and her husband. Food was decent not great by any means. She and her husband had meatballs, no flavor whatsoever. I asked they said they make them everyday. The sauce was watery, didn't have a clear, distinct taste that I would expect, moreless canned sauce. I ordered a seafood Pasta plate, Definitely over priced for the portions and their was a lot of sand and/or grit in it. To top things off you have to place your own order at the counter, only service was clearing off the table. They ask for 6,12, 18% tip can not modify it, Tip for What????? Same location as Pomodoro's, when asked if they were affiliated, they stated they "split" up. Even when they run your card says so Pomodoro's. Well I was two nights ago-invited by friends and service along with the food was great-so I'm back. I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar Salad. The place is clean the people are friendly. It's nice and quaint inside with a few tables outside for outdoor eating. This place is definitely a well kept secret tucked away. The only challenge is when traveling east on Nasa Road 1 is that you are not able to turn off Nassau Bay to go into the parking lot... you drive to the u-turn and u-turn. I must say I'm glad I got here when I did because this place filling up pretty quickly. And that could be for a number of reasons the pasta, pizza, salads, service and/or friendliness. Salad is here and the croutons are not hard or soggy. They are very good and light for the stomach and gentle on the gums. The chicken breast strips were nicely seasoned, juicy and tender.
