I was in the mood for a classis tuna melt and fries and boy did Ray's delivery. Lots of hot fresh fries, and that tuna melt was hefty! More a take out stall vibe. There is a small bit of counter seating if you wanted to eat onsite. Plenty of street meter parking in the area. Will I be back? Yes. Bogus: Next time I'll ask for my bread to be extra-toasted. We went to Rays for lunch on a Wednesday. It's a walk-up style building & decorated nicely, seemed like a nice area. There were a couple people ahead of us but the line moved quickly (they must've been regulars or very decisive), it took a us a few minutes to decide what we wanted to eat but the gentleman taking our order was very patient & helpful. (I have to preface that I have Chicago, IL taste buds so flavor is a must.) We decided on the cheesesteak (split) with fries and a side of onion rings. I'm so glad my hubby requested seasoning salt instead of regular salt for the fries. They probably would've been good anyway, but the seasoning salt really set them off. We asked for a side of ranch (not a tasty brand- ) for the onion rings. They were cooked to perfection!!! Again no flavor to the breading but that was ok! The size and being perfectly cooked made up for that. The Cheesesteak included sautéed onions & peppers but seemed like it was missing a couple things....#1 you guessed it- flavor! #2- some type of sauce. The bun was a little too thick for the amount of meat/veggies. My taste buds says4.4. But overall, Ray's deserve 5 stars, th food was served very hot and fresh. I may be a little biased, but I'm also leaving an honest review. I've known Ray since he was selling paintings on the Venice boardwalk. His food is always fresh, tasty, high quality, generous portions, and most importantly, made with a smile. The Agua Frescas are so refreshing on a hot day, the breakfast burritos are big enough for two meals, the burgers are grilled to perfection, and the teriyaki bowls are delicious. read more

So we ordered a western bacon cheese burger and a cheese burger and fries. We cot a coke and a 50cent cup of ice for the coke. The order taker was very pleasant. The service was somewhat quick. At about 10 -15 minutes. Rays charbroiled the burgers which is a huge plus. Charbroiled is always better!! The fries were mediocre. The ice cold coke was fantastic lol. Stopped in to this to-go burger spot for my first time and really enjoyed it. They have a large menu and portions. Service was quick, everything that we ordered was cooked well and had some great flavor. Parking can be tricky in this part of town depending on the time, but I was able to find street parking one block away. Everything that we ordered came out really fast and pricing is fair. This is not a sit down and eat kind of place, it is designed for to go, which is what I chose to do for this first visit. I chose the Patty Melt and added avocado because it's filled with cheese and large patties. It had some great seasoning on the meat and the bread was perfectly toasted. The french fries on the side weren't my favorite but still enjoyable. I would recommend and visit again in the future to try different items. read more

Burger was solid! Got a double and it was something I missed from the traditional spots. It's got some heft to it. Fries were just traditional thin fries, a little too salty for me. Just a window order type of place with some bar type of seating. The hours are a bit limited, but will to get it again if I'm in the area. read more

Amazing burger and service definitely recommend this spot. I would come back again, way better than bonbon burger around the corner that they are too expensive and they even took 50 minutes to make my food one time and I never got the food. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito for pickup and they had it ready in no time! Tortilla is really good, can tell it's hand made. The peppers and avocado were great with the burrito as well! The person taking our order was very nice and there are seats outside where you can sit and enjoy your food :) Probably one of my favorite breakfast burritos near UCLA. 10/10 will be coming back again! fyi: They take card and cash but prefer cash. Came to Rays for lunch and decided to get their tater tots supreme. Let me start off by saying I heard nothing but great things about Rays. The tots though were ehh. Huge let down, especially since many people were raving about this place. I give the tots a 4/10. They were fried a little too long the mayo was overpowered by the amount of cheese n them. They were really nothing special. Now that doesn't mean I won't be back to try other menu items and update my review. Plenty of seating outside expect to wait around 5-10 minutes for your food. read more

I ordered through GrubHub and came here to pick it up. It's a small shack with a walk up ordering window and a few seats along their building. Staff were friendly and they were quick with my order. I ordered the supreme tuna sandwich. It was a really hefty sized sandwich filled with tuna, cheese, avocado, grilled onions, and tomatoes. It was delicious, although next time I will get it without the grilled onions. It added too much sweetness and took away from the tuna for me personally. But still great. I would come here again to get it, or try one of the many other items they have on their huge menu. read more

I've eaten at Ray's 7 or 8 times now. And this is long over due. Thanks for always being so awesome! Food is always tasty and delicious, Everyone working there is super nice, And for the prices and quality, I can't think of another place that can do better. Love you guys! I'd have pics but my fiancée and I were starving and pics of half eaten food would not show the real presentation. It's pretty cool that I only live a few blocks away from this place. The first time I came here it took a good amount of time for my food to be ready but I guess that's how you know it's made to order. It's pretty much a stand you walk up to and then there's some outdoor seating. This recent time I went I called ahead to put an order in. Chorizo burrito was filled full of black beans, cheese, potato, avocado, onions, and chorizo but it was lacking any seasoning. They really need to season the potato and this would be a really good burrito.Bacon burrito has pepper, onion, potato, bacon. And cheese. Once again no seasoning lacking flavor. The only salsa offered was a Chipotle, I wish they had other salsa options like a green sauce. Ordered the chicken teriyaki for lunch which was very good. It came with rice and veggies and was covered in sauce. Portion was big enough that I was able to save half for dinner. I initially tried to order online but the order didn't go through so I went and ordered at the window around noon and it was about a 20 min wait due to the lunch rush. We were in the area looking for a different store and came upon this one. It wasn't busy at all and there was plenty of street parking. So we went for it. My experience was very pleasant and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. But if I'm near by again I'll stop by. I got the chicken teriyaki and subbed fried for white rice. The salad comes with ranch, I don't know if you can get a different dressing. But the ranch was doable, so I didn't mind it though I don't like ranch on salad. The fries were shoestring fries with no seasoning. A little seasoning salt would've been nice. The chicken was flavored well and juicy. However it was thigh and fatty. I added grilled onion which was a nice addition. The people working there were friendly. I wasn't necessarily wowed. But something about the chill vibe, easy ordering, and quick preparation bumped my experience up a star. Just make sure to feed your meter. I saw someone get a ticket while I was there. read more

Amazing burgers and tater tots. I visited on a weekday lunch and saw a line for the takeout. The wait was not that long and it was definitely worth it! The portion was huge even for a person like me that eats a lot. The staff were really friendly, and I'd definitely try more from their menus. My parents have been singing the praises of Ray's for years. I never made the trek over while living in LA, and honestly, as a pescatarian I wasn't that sad about missing out on a meaty walk-up diner on the other side of town. After my dad raved about the breakfasts on my last visit I finally relented. My mom broke character and ordered the breakfast burrito (2 scrambled eggs, shredded jack, and cheddar and mozzarella cheese, hash browns, onions, peppers, tomato, choice of bacon, sausage or ham wrapped in flour tortilla. Served with house spicy chipotle salsa) which was beastly. We were expecting from the description that there would shredded rather than large chunks of potato in it, which made it clunky to eat. I had been considering getting one as well (sans meat) but felt even happier with my breakfast quesadilla (shredded Jack, mozzarella and cheddar, spicy chipotle mayo, 2 eggs). It was also massive and very delicious. Both were accompanied by a hot and flavorful salsa and even hotter grilled pepper. My dad always gets the Tuna Melt Supreme which had to be the biggest sandwich I've ever seen. Easy and popular retro take-away joint with some counter seating. Service was friendly and quick. Accepts cards but bring cash to tip. They deserve it! read more

This unassuming shack on the side of the road has one of the best chicken teriyaki bowls in Los Angeles. Served fresh with white meat chicken breast, this bowl is great when paired with their fresh lemonade. Get the meal spicy and your tastebuds will thank you. Don't judge a book by its cover. Dinner was $70 per person and consisted entirely of shared plates. It turned out to be plenty of food. We started with the roasted shishito peppers and the crispy pork belly. That pork belly was the best dish of the night - absolutely delicious. Next came the chickpea fritters, which were also really good. The roasted beet salad was up next. I hate beets. But I still liked this. I wouldn't order it again because, yeah, I really don't like beets. But if you like them even a little, you should get this. I actually ate several bites of this, and it was nice. The Sichuan Chili Bass presented a similar situation as I don't really like fish - but again, I ate this and it was quite tasty. Dessert was a "s'mores" situation - a messy, glorious bowl of chocolate, meringue, graham cracker crunch and strawberries. Service was awesome - perfectly pacing the meal. My friend had a couple of cocktails which were gorgeous. And the room is lovely and light. I don't love the neighborhood and parking can be tough. I definitely would come early unless you're taking a taxi. Genuinely surprised how much I liked this meal. Everything was very well done and clearly made with care without seeming fussy or too precious. Highly recommend and would definitely come back. This is a place to take your out-of-town friends to.

The braised oxtail inside the tamales was soft and tender but the peanut butter veloute was *chef's kiss*. You definitely tasted kare kare but in an innovative way. I just wish they had some steamed rice or bread so I could soak up the sauce. I almost cried when they took the plate away because I didn't want to waste the sauce! Bicol Express Mezzelune ($38) - 4/5 stars - I was eyeing this originally but opted not to until the chef came out and talked us into it. And I'm so glad he did! This was delicious! Ironically enough, I just cooked traditional Bicol Express the week before and this definitely hit those notes without being a carbon copy of it. Again, where was the rice?! Only thing I can dock is that I felt like the pasta was a tad too thick and was chewy to my taste. Otherwise, I would definitely order this again. Was the sleeper hit of the dinner. Crab Fat Fried Rice ($38) - 5/5 stars - Crab? Crab fat? In rice?? Of course, sign me up! So delicious and a very generous portion. I wanted to hoard it to myself but I guess I had to share with Hubby. Would order this again. Ribeye Salpicao ($96) - 3/5 stars - Not my favorite of the bunch and this surprised me because I love rib eye. It came out medium instead of the medium rare we ordered and the taste was just not to my preference. It's possible that it was just overshadowed by the other excellent dishes we had. Likely will not order again though the portion was generous. Two minor things I wish they had but not enough to dock stars: Rice and spoons. Come on, now! This is a Filipino place! These two are musts? How else could I mop up all the delicious sauces they put on the food?! Service was impeccable! From front of the house host, bartender, and the chefs, the experience was very welcoming and polished. We sat at the bar and was able to chat with the chefs when they came to introduce themselves to us and they were the nicest people. You felt like you came to a friend's house and not an impersonal stranger's. Will definitely be back to try the other half of the menu we missed and we'll be bringing friends!

I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile as they blown up on social media and today just felt like a burger and fries day and I have to say this is a place that lives up to the hype and more. I ordered the grilled smash and it was amazing. Perfectly balanced and delicious and the perfect size for me, not too big or small, not too greasy, packed a ton of flavor across the meat, cheese and perfectly balanced with their house sauce and pickle. Ate that one up too. I also appreciated their level of service in how they packaged up my order so nicely and with a great level of care, and hooked me up with a ton of fries too - they were overflowing when I opened the bag and still nice and hot when I took them home! Casual spot definitely is going to be on my list of go to regular spots for one of the BEST in LA. Hands down. I totally get it. You got something real special here Pn'P!!!

My bf and I came once here and it was coo. I gave it another try on my own tonight and omggggg wish I didn't. There is a lack of CARE and QUALITY for the food. First off, it didn't taste fresh. This establishment preaches about the ingredients but the taste, care and freshness was completely off. And I ate it right away too. I also upgraded and paid an extra $1 for "hand-cut fries" as I was curious from last time, but they looked like the same fries as last time! They had no flavor and as you can tell by the photo, the fries are literally brown. I thought fries were yellow! Overcooked and no flavor. Lmao. The burger was OK. It was definitely greasy and didn't taste "healthy" to me. I mean I would've been better off eating at In-n-out for this carelessness. At least INO is consistent and actually tastes good. We got the same order: smashed cheeseburgers with sweet potato fries. Service was nice and efficient, and we got our food within 10-15 min to enjoy on the patio. The burgers were very flavorful and very messy to eat (not complaining)! The patties were nicely-smashed, yet still had a juiciness to them. Loved that they contained onions and pickles for some additional acidity. Sweet potato fries were excellent as well, crispy and well-seasoned with salt. For the Win is a solid smash burger place, but I do wish that the buns were toasted, as they were really soft and started losing integrity the more you eat. Also not cheap at $38 for two smash burgers and two fries (including tip). Overall, I'm glad I got to try FTW, and while not my #1 favorite smash burger spot, it's up there!

I ordered my burger protein style (lettuce wrapped) and it was perfect, not too salty. Would highly recommend getting your own order of fries as I was left wanting more. Service is quick and friendly, although I would note that it seemed like they had just started receiving a lot of online orders as we were eating. Inside is clean and has a few seats for you to enjoy your burger.

It's got carnitas, refried beans, Mexican rice, sour cream, cheese and salsa inside, and initially the burritos were about 1/2 the size of a chipotle burrito. Now, the burritos are about the size of a medium chipotle burrito, PACKED with delicious carnitas meat that is super flavorful, devoid of any gristly or fatty pieces, just pure goodness in every bite. I truly felt as though it was a religious experience eating this burrito, I truly didn't want it to stop it was that good! I nearly didn't finish it, and I eat a crap ton of food in one sitting, but alas, I persevered. In terms of the logistics: called ahead, the burrito was ready within 10 minutes served hot and wrapped to-go. For chips, salsa, and my burrito it was $13.47 for everything. Are you kidding me?! In this economy; that's an incredible price for a truly exemplary Mexican dinner in Santa Monica.
