There was 24/7 coffee/tea available in the lobby. the space to walk the dog was really nice as there were two locations on either side of the buildings. Additionally enjoyed the set up of the room and the amenities such as the body wash and the hand soap. There is some room for improvement at this location in regards to breakfast items. It was very continental and really didn't do the trick however we were able to enjoy bagels, toast, hard boiled egg and they did have a few varieties of fresh fruit. In particular, I wasn't really a fan of the pancake machine and the traditional waffle iron would be much more hardy and suitable. Overall, no major problems with our room however, the TV system is unique and sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn't often to look at Pluto versus even accessing the live channels as their entertainment system is kind of finicky. Additionally, the lotion dispenser in our room did not work, and I really wanted to try the lotion as I thought the fragrance for the body wash and hand Soap was very pleasant. Lastly, the workers at this hotel are just not very friendly. They're not rude. They're just not hospitable and that was evident from the front desk to the breakfast attendance to the maintenance person. They just were not very friendly or engaging at overall. If in this area again, I would stay at this hotel if the price point was right. overall it was a good value and close to St. Joseph while having the charm of Stevensville.

Which is expected at a value priced hotel. Sunday night was quiet. Nice location to nearby beaches. 15 min drive to Saint Joe where hotels are more expensive. Breakfast was nice. Pool/hot tub/sauna were an unexpected amenity. Elevator was broke during stay. Overhaul not bad for $150ish a night through the website which the front desk can't honor unless booked online. My zip code is so accurate it includes the 4 digit postal routing code at the end of the zip as well. I've been using Marriotts and affiliates for close to 15 years and he said - you're all set. So I walked away.... Except.... He popped out 15 seconds later and said I'm getting your keys now. This was a confusing checkin. He also said they don't use mobile keys at this location (per the front desk clerk). Then he asked me if I wanted 2nd or 3rd floor. Lol. It doesn't really matter to me and I mentioned I'm traveling with my children. He gives us the very last room on the 3rd floor (the furthest and most difficult room to get to in the entire hotel...pray there's not a fire... like seriously)- he's got jokes - and - told us to park on the side of the building, but neglected to mention the elevators are where the lobby is. So he added on additional walking. I didn't mention it, but I have severe osteo arthritis in my knee... so much so, that I could get a handicap placard if I so chose to. We pay premium for a lake front chalet, view of lake is gone what I get to look as is a sand berm with boulders. I understand the lake is higher then usual but adding a five foot berm seem excessive. I like that there was plenty of parking in the parking lot and the area was well lit and clean After we checked in the hotel front desk we took the elevator, which was kind of scary cause it kept on bumping up and down when we were going to our room. It was nice to see a water fountain by the public bathroom that you can fill your water bottle quickly. There are many store had a nice variety of snacks to purchase. When we went to our room on the third floor room 305 when we entered the bathroom there was a black bucket with plastic bag half of it was full of water. We weren't sure if it was left behind or something dripping from the ceiling, we also saw a towel on the floor as well. Told the staff about the bucket which I believe was our garbage can they said they would replace it so I left it in the front door, but it was never replaced that evening nor in the morning when I went downstairs to get breakfast. They will need to fix the tub drain because the water wasn't draining too slow that our feet were submerged in the water. The shampoo bottle pump was totally empty with no shampoo that even a drop so I had to use the showering gel to wash my hair because I did not expect to bring my own shampoo with me when I travel. The room layout was nice. The air condition did keep the room cool the place was clean. The king size bed was nice and comfy that I didn't have to toss or turn. Was a bit disappointed that there was no outlet on the left side of the bed closest to the bathroom when I needed to charge my accessories near me, I would have to use an extension cord. I enjoy working out in the hotel gyms, and I was a bit disappointed that the treadmill was out of order And I didn't see any disposable earbuds stating that it was free for us to use available in the room. And there was no TV remote to watch in the gym. They did have fresh white hand towels to use. I looked at the pool side, which was nice but didn't have time for a swim . The continental breakfast was fine. They were pretty good in stocking up the food as people were getting their breakfast so no issue there. Interesting that they had a yogurt machine so that you can get a bowl of it and put different toppings in it. Overall it was an ok experience. The staff was friendly. I just didn't like the little things that I shouldn't have to complain about when staying in a hotel that I paid over $200 for plus being asked to add $100 on our card for any incidentals and then if there isn't any, they would credit back your hundred dollars. It's been a while since we checked in a hotel that asked us for a deposit if that is standard now.

I didn't eat at the brunch but I was babysitting and we went to see Santa and grabbed some complimentary hot chocolate. The Santa looked great and the hot chocolate was delicious! The hotel was decorated beautiful for the holiday and the staff was friendly, as always. I've enjoyed lunch and dinner at their restaurant, Plank's Tavern, and I've always enjoyed their outdoor tiki bar with a water view! They have nice, updated rooms, a cafe that opens early for espresso drinks, and their hot tub is awesome because it goes outside! It's fun to relax in the hot tub during a Michigan snowfall. My only complaints are that the elevator is incredibly slow and they only accept dogs in the condos, which are much more expensive to stay in for a night compared to the hotel rooms.

This was, without question, the best Bed & Breakfast experience we've ever had. The property itself is situated right on Lake Michigan on Lake Shore Drive in St. Joseph, and it's been a B&B for several decades. The rooms are nicely furnished, and the view from the deck facing the lake is priceless. However, what makes South Cliff Inn truly spectacular are the owners. You will not find better hosts than Daniel and Allison. Their attention to detail and their personal touch are almost from a different era, and they are singularly focused on providing a memorable experience for every guest. When staying here, it doesn't take long before you realize that nearly every other guest (all week) is a repeat customer. Several of the other guests we met have been coming here for 20+ years, and that speaks volumes. We're already planning our next visit.
