Spouse and I are big fans of the Tru brand and planned for several months to stay at this location on an overnight visit to Saint Joseph & wine country. The ratings here are not believable. When we turned down our beds to go to sleep, our sheets on both of the queen beds in our room were covered in other people's hair and there was sand and dirt down at the foot of the beds inside the sheets as well. It was disgusting and a big shock to find. We immediately reported this to the front desk, and the staff told us dirty sheets going unchanged between guests was an ongoing issue that management knows about but has been unable to successfully address with their housekeeping staff. (In fact, an hour before we reported our issue, we witnessed another guest at the front desk complaining about finding unexpected hair and dirt in their room as well.) We were changed to the one remaining room at the property, and front desk staff came up to inspect the sheets with us before they gave us the keys. But if there had not been a room left, or if those sheets had been dirty as well, we would have been forced to look for an available room on a busy summer Saturday night at nearly midnight in rural Michigan, or get in our car and drive two hours overnight back home. We reported the issue to Hilton corporate, requested that Hilton investigate the franchisee for knowingly breaking core Hilton sanitary practices, and requested a full refund of the cash and points we had spent for that night's reservation. This is clearly an identified and repeating issue with this property and needs to be addressed. (I fully believe reviews from more than a year ago from people who found urine stains on their toilet seat.) If you choose to stay here, you probably should check your bedsheets the moment you get access to your room. But we'll never stay here again, and I really don't suggest you do either. read more

We had a enjoyable time at this hotel. We were traveling with our dog and needed to stay at a place that was friendly and accommodating. In addition, we wanted to use our credit card points so our selections for this weekend were slim but overall this checked all the boxes. What went well was that our room was quiet. There was 24/7 coffee/tea available in the lobby. the space to walk the dog was really nice as there were two locations on either side of the buildings. Additionally enjoyed the set up of the room and the amenities such as the body wash and the hand soap. There is some room for improvement at this location in regards to breakfast items. It was very continental and really didn't do the trick however we were able to enjoy bagels, toast, hard boiled egg and they did have a few varieties of fresh fruit. In particular, I wasn't really a fan of the pancake machine and the traditional waffle iron would be much more hardy and suitable. Overall, no major problems with our room however, the TV system is unique and sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn't often to look at Pluto versus even accessing the live channels as their entertainment system is kind of finicky. Additionally, the lotion dispenser in our room did not work, and I really wanted to try the lotion as I thought the fragrance for the body wash and hand Soap was very pleasant. Lastly, the workers at this hotel are just not very friendly. They're not rude. They're just not hospitable and that was evident from the front desk to the breakfast attendance to the maintenance person. They just were not very friendly or engaging at overall. If in this area again, I would stay at this hotel if the price point was right. overall it was a good value and close to St. Joseph while having the charm of Stevensville. read more

I called ahead of time. I asked "is there car charging nearby?". She said "Yes!, right across the street from us at Meijer". I was excited, and then I thought about the last time someone told be a place was "right across the street", and it was 5 miles away, so I started to worry. BUT!!! She was correct! There was a Meijer across the interstate, so I did have to drive there....but I needed to drive to juice my car, but I was hoping it was across the street like that I could plug in my car, walk across the street, check in, watch some tube, and then walk back and drive back. But that doesn't matter. 5 star experience at this hotel. Room was comfy. Staff was great. Breakfast delicious ... they even have a pancake making machine where you just wave your hand (but I didn't have a pancake because I'm dieting ... staying under 1600 calories per day!) read more

The tv didn't work well. There not much to do in the. area. We went out during the day but at night when we're trying to warm and fall asleep other tv the regular channels did not work. It's a great idea for people who have a Netflix account but we do not. The bed is greats the shower warm up nice and quick. The breakfast was good. The staff were friendly. The place was chosen by my husband company. We stayed here for the price. I do like this is close to a starbuck and Cracker Barrel. read more

Review Title: Deeply Disappointed - Not the Hilton Standard I've been a loyal Hilton guest for years, staying at properties all over the country, including 4- and 5-star hotels. Unfortunately, this stay at Tru by Hilton was the worst hotel experience I've had and does not represent the Hilton brand I've come to trust. * Upon check-in, Courtney charged me a $20 "early check-in" fee without disclosure or authorization. I've never encountered this at any Hilton property before. * My first room (406) had a strong mildew odor from the start. By the next day, I noticed the door to that room had been left propped open with a spoon and a fan running to air it out -- confirming there was a known issue. Inside, the shower had dead bugs on the wall, hair stuck to the wallpaper, urine stains on the toilet seat, and yellow residue on the shower door. Completely unsanitary and unacceptable. * Before my new room (409) was ready after I returned from a wedding, staff walked directly into 406 while I was in the bathroom -- without knocking -- and claimed they "thought I had vacated." That violation of privacy was inexcusable. * The second room (409), while not as bad, still had bugs in the shower. For nearly $300 with taxes and fees, a guest should at minimum expect a clean room and privacy. * After my stay, I called the hotel to report these issues. I was told management would follow up the next day, but I never received a call back, was never asked for photos, and no actual investigation took place. Instead, I received a cold and dismissive email from Serena in management. On the positive side, when I escalated my concerns to Hilton corporate, Daisy from the Texas office was absolutely wonderful. She listened, took my concerns seriously, and promptly arranged a full refund by mailed check for the total cost of my stay. Hilton corporate made this right, but the fact remains: this property failed on every level -- cleanliness, communication, professionalism, and basic hospitality. A hotel under the Hilton name should not allow rooms in this condition or staff to treat guests this way. Take a look at the pictures of the room below and the email correspondences with Serena and Chris -- they speak for themselves. I hope Hilton takes a serious look at how this property is being run, because this was far below the brand standard and a major disappointment. read more

We needed a quick getaway with our daughter but also needed a place that would welcome our dogs. This property accommodated everything we needed for a relaxing few-day escape. The space was comfortable, pet-friendly, and made traveling with both our family and our dogs easy. We had a great stay and would gladly return for another getaway. read more

The first Tru by Hilton my husband and I stayed at was the Madison West location and it was so phenomenal I didn't want to check in at another hotel again for trips. We headed to Michigan this week and booked online. This location didn't feel as inviting and welcoming as the Madison West location. We arrived there early and the front desk lady in the morning wasn't very friendly and had a low vibrational and snotty attitude. It took her a very long time to acknowledge my husband and I and it seemed like she had no urgency to do so because she was on the phone. We felt like idiots just standing there without her making contact. While she was on the phone we wanted to play pool but noticed the table was covered and we couldn't find the balls anywhere. The Madison West location had a foosball table and pool table ready for guests to use at any time. At this location we apparently had to check the balls out and check them back in again. My husband and I went to dinner later that night and noticed someone left the pool table with the balls out so we asked the man at the front desk if we could play and he was much nicer and had a very friendly attitude. When it was time to check out in the morning we noticed and heard the two elder ladies who worked there talking crap while putting the breakfast away. One of them was the same front desk lady with the bad attitude. I most likely won't be coming back to this location. read more

We really liked this hotel. It is pet friendly so I was able to stay here with my dogs. We didn't use the pool but there was one. The rooms was clean and the bed was comfy. Breakfast in the morning was BUSY but the staff did their best to keep everything stocked. The breakfast included hot items and fruits/bagels etc. There was restaurant options close to the hotel and it was about a 15 minute drive to the beach in St. Joseph's. Clean, functional rooms and easy to get to off the interstate. Rooms are small and lack a closet. Beds are pretty comfortable. Floor is laminate, and our room only had a shower. Toiletries were in large wall mounted tubes. Shower pressure was good. They have a breakfast with cereal, eggs/omelets, fruit, assorted pastries, and oatmeal. Workout room is very small. They have a water bottle fill station outside the workout room. Also near a Cracker Barrel and a Starbucks. read more

Stayed here for several nights for a wedding. Rooms are very modern and appreciated the shelving and the hooks to store everything. Bed was alright. The only bad part was the pillows. They're flat or don't do anything. Kept me up at night. The complimentary breakfast was not too bad. They have the basics: eggs, cereal, juice, breakfast sausage, and an automatic pancake maker in place of the waffle maker. It doesn't change too often but it's free. As for amenities, they have a pool which I didn't try and a workout room with random weights and a couple treadmills. read more

Pros and cons of staying in this hotel. Starting with the pros...friendly check-in, lobby, hallways and elevators very clean, bed very comfortable with two of the best pillows I've ever slept on, peaceful view of trees out the window. Cons? Two big long black hairs on our bedding (gag!), top of the headboard lined with dust, dirty floor around the garbage can in the corner of the room, and more long black hairs plus dirt in the corner of the threshold going into the shower! Housekeeping really needs to step up their game. Not a fan of the super modern decor. Like staying in an IKEA room. Walls are obviously thin - could hear the people next door locking and unlocking their door. In fact, at first it freaked us out because we thought someone was trying to get into our room! Probably a good thing we were on the top floor. I can only imagine how much noise you can hear above you. Other: there was scented ("lemon sugar", I believe) lotion in a dispenser by the bathroom sink and soap, shampoo and conditioner in dispensers in the shower, but we chose to use our own products. These Hilton products smell super cheap-perfumey. If you're into the cheap, chemical scents from places like Bath & Body Works, then you might like this stuff. There isn't a bathtub. Just the shower. So if you have little kids that need a bath or you were looking forward to relaxing in a nice, hot bath, you're out of luck. Lastly, this hotel is way too expensive for what you get in the off-season. We stayed here Sept 11 and it was over $200 with tax. read more

Normally a big fan of Hilton brands, but not this one. Tru is a hotel chain that caters to what corporate marketing people think millennials want, which means the rooms look like they were painted and furnished from the children's section at Ikea. And what's with these cold, high-Kelvin lights EVERYWHERE? It's 2023, they make warm-white LEDs. I looked around for a closet, and finally figured out it was the five pegs on the wall where you can hang your hoodie and backpack but not much else. Finally, don't expect to find a lobby filed with trendy young people sipping cocktails and working on their MacBooks. When I checked in, the lobby was overrun with young children. Looking on were some older adults drinking beer from a 12-pack and looking like they had just closed down the local Walmart. read more

This was our first Hilton Tru stay. Easy accessible off the interstate. The location was perfect. Check-in was a breeze. The lobby was well appointed. Parking was complimentary and no problem. Our room (210) was immaculate. Space is decidedly small at this level, but the design is efficient. Found plenty of outlets for our electronic devices which was way nice! The in-room refrigerator was a wonderful addition! Our King bed was comfortable. The room was quiet this mid-week stay. The bathroom was wonderful: Nightlight imbedded in the socket; Lovely shower with excellent water pressure and easy temperature adjustment; ALL the dispenser offerings were highly effective and smelled nice (not too strong). I would suggest keeping the fan on in the bathroom because the room seemed to feel damp when the AC was on. Breakfast in the morning was simple, but sufficient. Don't expect fancy or you will be disappointed. Coffee was hot and fresh, if not very strong. Just my personal preference. I recommend a stay here, especially because off-season rates are low. read more

First time stay at a Hilton's Tru brand location. For Stevensville, the hotel was totally fine and beats out most - if not all - the nearby others, mostly because it is new. As a brand, though, I want to like Tru, but at best it looks and feels like someone from the 1960s teamed up with someone from IKEA and failed. I don't see Tru as a brand lasting for long. read more

Beautiful hotel with nice amenities. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean with a contemporary decor. Front desk staff was helpful and super friendly. They greeted us when we arrived and anytime we left. They have a great complimentary breakfast with lots of options. The have a small gym. There's not much in there though. The lobby is very spacious and there is a pool table! There were reviews stating that it was noisy between the walls and hallway. I did not experience this at all. read more

We stayed one night here for a friends birthday! The staff was very accommodating with early check in to both rooms so I was able to decorate. The hotel is incredibly clean. They served a hot breakfast that still adhered to all of the COVID restrictions. Overall very impressed and 100% would stay again! read more

Overall, it's a relatively clean hotel. However, for over $220 a night, I would love to have it be less like a college dorm/IKEA... the front desk associate warned us there is no closet. They provide you with hooks on the wall, and a few hangers. read more

Terrible service. The only reason I will give one star is for the exterior looking nice. Ruined my best friends wedding night. We got "checked" into a room for them to go to after wedding and had rose pedals laid all over the bed and their bag moved in. When we returned from the wedding they were abruptly stopped and handed a trash bag of roses and their luggage bag clearly rummaged threw and were told they were not actually checked into the room and were moved. They were unable to provide an explanation or anything. Nobody had any clue what or why this was occurring. Fortunately the next morning the manager was available and compted the entire stay. However, still unable to provide reasons or anything. The only pro other than the exterior appearing nice, is the gentleman Joe at the front desk. He was kind and helpful and always seemed to know what was going on. Very nice and prompt. Poor experience and will never recommend anyone Stays here. read more

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and the staff were incredibly nice in tending to the Covid protocols. The bed was very soft and the bathroom amenities were provided abundantly. The provided breakfast was delicious and my kids loved the waffle maker. I will definitely go back to more Tru Hilton hotels! read more
