Review Title: Deeply Disappointed - Not the Hilton Standard I've been a loyal Hilton guest for years, staying at properties all over the country, including 4- and 5-star hotels. Unfortunately, this stay at Tru by Hilton was the worst hotel experience I've had and does not represent the Hilton brand I've come to trust. * Upon check-in, Courtney charged me a $20 "early check-in" fee without disclosure or authorization. I've never encountered this at any Hilton property before. * My first room (406) had a strong mildew odor from the start. By the next day, I noticed the door to that room had been left propped open with a spoon and a fan running to air it out -- confirming there was a known issue. Inside, the shower had dead bugs on the wall, hair stuck to the wallpaper, urine stains on the toilet seat, and yellow residue on the shower door. Completely unsanitary and unacceptable. * Before my new room (409) was ready after I returned from a wedding, staff walked directly into 406 while I was in the bathroom -- without knocking -- and claimed they "thought I had vacated." That violation of privacy was inexcusable. * The second room (409), while not as bad, still had bugs in the shower. For nearly $300 with taxes and fees, a guest should at minimum expect a clean room and privacy. * After my stay, I called the hotel to report these issues. I was told management would follow up the next day, but I never received a call back, was never asked for photos, and no actual investigation took place. Instead, I received a cold and dismissive email from Serena in management. On the positive side, when I escalated my concerns to Hilton corporate, Daisy from the Texas office was absolutely wonderful. She listened, took my concerns seriously, and promptly arranged a full refund by mailed check for the total cost of my stay. Hilton corporate made this right, but the fact remains: this property failed on every level -- cleanliness, communication, professionalism, and basic hospitality. A hotel under the Hilton name should not allow rooms in this condition or staff to treat guests this way. Take a look at the pictures of the room below and the email correspondences with Serena and Chris -- they speak for themselves. I hope Hilton takes a serious look at how this property is being run, because this was far below the brand standard and a major disappointment.

Clean, functional rooms and easy to get to off the interstate. Rooms are small and lack a closet. Beds are pretty comfortable. Floor is laminate, and our room only had a shower. Toiletries were in large wall mounted tubes. Shower pressure was good. They have a breakfast with cereal, eggs/omelets, fruit, assorted pastries, and oatmeal. Workout room is very small. They have a water bottle fill station outside the workout room. Also near a Cracker Barrel and a Starbucks.

    Shower only, no tub.

Pros and cons of staying in this hotel. Starting with the pros...friendly check-in, lobby, hallways and elevators very clean, bed very comfortable with two of the best pillows I've ever slept on, peaceful view of trees out the window. Cons? Two big long black hairs on our bedding (gag!), top of the headboard lined with dust, dirty floor around the garbage can in the corner of the room, and more long black hairs plus dirt in the corner of the threshold going into the shower! Housekeeping really needs to step up their game. Not a fan of the super modern decor. Like staying in an IKEA room. Walls are obviously thin - could hear the people next door locking and unlocking their door. In fact, at first it freaked us out because we thought someone was trying to get into our room! Probably a good thing we were on the top floor. I can only imagine how much noise you can hear above you. Other: there was scented ("lemon sugar", I believe) lotion in a dispenser by the bathroom sink and soap, shampoo and conditioner in dispensers in the shower, but we chose to use our own products. These Hilton products smell super cheap-perfumey. If you're into the cheap, chemical scents from places like Bath & Body Works, then you might like this stuff. There isn't a bathtub. Just the shower. So if you have little kids that need a bath or you were looking forward to relaxing in a nice, hot bath, you're out of luck. Lastly, this hotel is way too expensive for what you get in the off-season. We stayed here Sept 11 and it was over $200 with tax.

The bed was not the most comfortable to me but my husband said he slept good. The bathroom was nice- the shower stays hot for a long time which is always a plus. The free breakfast was decent and nice that we didn't have to eat out for a meal. They were having multiple key card issues on our last day so they had to keep letting us into the room.

I checked in late and was exhausted from traveling. I didn't turn on any bright lights and crawled…read moreinto bed. The next morning my daughter asked what happened when she pulled back the covers it looked like dried up pee stains or I don't know what kind of stain to be honest. I do have pictures of it. And one of my wash clothes I used smelled like cum. Just a disgusting room. To think I checked into a dirty room and payed almost $800 for a three day stay in an unclean room just made me so mad. I will probably never stay at another Fairfield. The way they handled it at the front was even more disappointing. The head of house keeping didn't even apologize, actually...no one apologized, except for Arika the following day. Housekeeping came in and when she saw it, she said, "oops" I said that's more than an "oops" she then proceeded to start putting a sheet on top of the mattress cover. I said, I'd like the mattress cover changed as well and she walked away then the front desk called and asked for me to leave the room while they changed things. I wasn't about to leave the room because I wanted to make sure everything was changed properly before I lay down to sleep at night. Then when she was done, she threw the pillows back on and I said can you please change the pillowcases and by this point, the head of housekeeping had come down. And then she came in and started changing the bed angrily and fast and when she left, she said "I have a blessed day" that was so passive aggressive, I know what that means. No one ever once apologized even when she was in the room she didn't say I'm sorry that your room was not stripped and cleaned. I think the icing on the cake was when I had a washcloth that none of the other towels smelled weird this one smelled like semen. Unacceptable! I do have pictures of everything too.

We stayed in this hotel because our family who was visiting wanted to stay here so we did…read more We Hilton honors members so we decided to stay here as well. I like that there was plenty of parking in the parking lot and the area was well lit and clean After we checked in the hotel front desk we took the elevator, which was kind of scary cause it kept on bumping up and down when we were going to our room. It was nice to see a water fountain by the public bathroom that you can fill your water bottle quickly. There are many store had a nice variety of snacks to purchase. When we went to our room on the third floor room 305 when we entered the bathroom there was a black bucket with plastic bag half of it was full of water. We weren't sure if it was left behind or something dripping from the ceiling, we also saw a towel on the floor as well. Told the staff about the bucket which I believe was our garbage can they said they would replace it so I left it in the front door, but it was never replaced that evening nor in the morning when I went downstairs to get breakfast. They will need to fix the tub drain because the water wasn't draining too slow that our feet were submerged in the water. The shampoo bottle pump was totally empty with no shampoo that even a drop so I had to use the showering gel to wash my hair because I did not expect to bring my own shampoo with me when I travel. The room layout was nice. The air condition did keep the room cool the place was clean. The king size bed was nice and comfy that I didn't have to toss or turn. Was a bit disappointed that there was no outlet on the left side of the bed closest to the bathroom when I needed to charge my accessories near me, I would have to use an extension cord. I enjoy working out in the hotel gyms, and I was a bit disappointed that the treadmill was out of order And I didn't see any disposable earbuds stating that it was free for us to use available in the room. And there was no TV remote to watch in the gym. They did have fresh white hand towels to use. I looked at the pool side, which was nice but didn't have time for a swim . The continental breakfast was fine. They were pretty good in stocking up the food as people were getting their breakfast so no issue there. Interesting that they had a yogurt machine so that you can get a bowl of it and put different toppings in it. Overall it was an ok experience. The staff was friendly. I just didn't like the little things that I shouldn't have to complain about when staying in a hotel that I paid over $200 for plus being asked to add $100 on our card for any incidentals and then if there isn't any, they would credit back your hundred dollars. It's been a while since we checked in a hotel that asked us for a deposit if that is standard now.
