    Vomit in mattress

DO NOT STAY HERE! We stayed here and kept smelling something throughout the night. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from and in the morning noticed the side of the bed was tinted yellow. I lifted back the sheet to find someone had VOMITED all over the mattress and they just put a new pad and sheet over it and let us sleep on it . The short curtain had stains all over it and the walls were dirty! They wouldn't even compensate us for giving us a dirty room and making us sleep on a vomit bed.

    disgustingly gross pool

August 18, 2024 - booked a hotel with a pool so the kids could swim... the pool was so cloudy and gross nobody wanted to get in. Asked the front desk if they could shock it - they did nothing. Went back after dinner and the pumps/filters weren't even turned on. Avoid this place if you plan to use the pool.

The fold on the bed that was clearly not washed.

My daughter and I stayed this past weekend for a little get away. Upon arrival the hotel looked nice but when we got in our room. It was so dirty. Looked like feces stains on the bed and hair on the sheets. I demanded to be moved. The girl went and checked 5 different rooms until she found one acceptable for me. When we came back to our room from the beach we couldn't get into the room. The front desk was arguing that I don't have a reservation even after arguing that all of our belongings are in the room. Then I hear them mumbling that that is the room with all the stuff in it that the other guest was in. Absolutely not acceptable! We left for dinner and came back to a family almost in tears trying to call other hotels. I questioned her and she said the room they put her in was disgusting and would not put her children in it. So disappointed. Marriott do better!!

Very clean, newer Fairfield Inn. Staff were engaging and friendly. Breakfast bar attendant was hardworking and kept up with cleaning and filling the offerings. It was somewhat quiet in the halls, not bad. You could hear the occasional door slam or talking. I don't think they were close to capacity though when we stayed. The pool was smaller, wouldn't accommodate large crowds with many children such as sports teams. The lobby was large with a nice sized outdoor area with gas fire pit. The surrounding view was enough to pull your blinds shut. The rooms were very well appointed though.

    Stained Carpets

Do not recommend!!! This is. For sure 1 star property. Pictures do not do the filth justice. We were greeted by a pile of dirty laundry in the hall near our room After a late flight we arrived at 1:30 am so how long was this sitting there ? Mold all throughout the shower, carpets were stained , shampoo and conditioner bottles broken or empty , no Tissue and very little toilet paper. Even more disappointing was the lack of customer service. We asked the front desk for help and they said we could come get what we needed. Tried emailing and calling for two weeks wanting to speak to a manager. When they did answer the phone we were given the run around. Finally After all the attempts I called and spoke to Kartik apparently he is the acting GM. He stated he hadn't seen my emails from two weeks prior so I confirmed with him his email was correct. He listened ,didn't seemed surprised , upset or that he even cared about the condition of the room. We paid 250$ a night for this. Needless to say we checked out early and moved to another hotel.

I showed the front desk staff my receipt from the restaurant to explain why I was there, but the lady at the front desk was incredibly rude. She interrupted me while I was talking with my kids on my phone and asked me to leave. Later, after the restaurant closed, I approached her again, showed her my receipt, and politely asked if I could finish my text in the lobby. She rudely asked me to leave again, this time in front of other guests. Her behaviour was unprofessional and made me feel unwelcome, even though I had spent money at the restaurant. I also noticed that her attitude seemed to make other guests uncomfortable, despite my efforts to be friendly. While the restaurant itself was decent, the hotel staff's treatment of me was unacceptable. I would not recommend using the hotel lobby unless you are a guest, as the staff clearly does not accommodate restaurant patrons.

I can't say enough good things about this venue and staff. I wouldn't wish our Covid wedding planning stress on any bride and groom, but I will tell you from personal experience, Shadowland will stop at NOTHING to give you the best wedding reception possible! We were the classic "had everything planned out pre-Covid" story, so the Covid curveball really forced us to revise all our plans. Shadowland worked with the state on what the current guidelines were, and kept us updated with every change, giving us our options and telling us what to expect. Our venue wedding coordinator, Rysa, was so responsive with our questions, and truly made us feel like our wedding day was as important to them as it was to us. Having an August 2020 wedding, we were unfortunately constrained to an outdoor reception, and although it was crushing to not be able to us their beautiful ballroom, I cried happy tears when they informed us they would be putting up tents for us outside so we could still host our reception with them. With so many cancelations and changes, it was a huge relief to know they were still in our corner and not going to give up on us! Not only did they stick with us, but they went above and beyond to make sure it was amazing. One perfect example of their attention to detail was the color-coordinated bracelets they provided for guests to display their social comfort levels at the reception. This was a huge hit during an event where we had many guests of varied preferences. I would have never thought of this, but it made ALL the difference and was one less thing for me to worry about on our wedding day when we were giving out hugs and hellos. I will admit, even though we didn't choose it on purpose, the outdoor "tent on the beach" feel was actually pretty great! The guests loved being able to walk down for sunset pictures, and it was fun dancing under the stars. Fortunately for us, the one thing we did NOT have to change was our food choices because Shadowland provided all the catering. There were so many great meal options available at our tasting that it was actually hard to pick what to serve on our wedding day, and as expected, everything was delicious! We received many compliments on the food. Our wedding reception was absolutely perfect, even amidst the ongoing changes, and i know we have Shadowland to thank for making it possible.

I cannot say enough positive things about having our wedding reception at the Shadowland Ballroom…read more For starters, the staff is FANTASTIC. Nicole and Jasmine made the entire planning process so easy and fun. I didn't have a wedding planner or coordinator, so it was helpful to lean on Jasmine for questions or advice. She was organized, responsive, so sweet, and helpful. Even with my crazy type-A personality I was able to relax on my wedding day knowing Jasmine had everything covered. We had 150 people and the ballroom was a great size for that. We used the patio for cocktail hour, and that was a hit. We had a second bar on the patio for cocktail hour as well. The food was great; we got a lot of compliments and it was so easy to have catering through Shadowland. The ballroom was beautiful. The only thing I didn't love was the chairs at Shadowland, so I went with gold chiavari chairs from www.chiavarichairswedding.com and they were fantastic and really made the room look great. I recommend using their preferred vendor list. It was so nice to have vendors who were familiar with the staff and layout. We used Ben Pancoast photography and photo booth and Music Unlimited for our DJ. They were terrific. We rented the carousel for 1 hour and it was a HIT. Our wedding was 21+ and the adults loved it. We definitely needed the full hour for the 150 guests to get our photos done first. We also loved the Mock Wedding shadowland throws for their confirmed couples. It was a great way to meet vendors and see the space in action. THANK YOU Jasmine and Nicole for making sure my husband and I had a perfect wedding day. It really was the best.

In addition, we wanted to use our credit card points so our selections for this weekend were slim but overall this checked all the boxes. What went well was that our room was quiet. There was 24/7 coffee/tea available in the lobby. the space to walk the dog was really nice as there were two locations on either side of the buildings. Additionally enjoyed the set up of the room and the amenities such as the body wash and the hand soap. There is some room for improvement at this location in regards to breakfast items. It was very continental and really didn't do the trick however we were able to enjoy bagels, toast, hard boiled egg and they did have a few varieties of fresh fruit. In particular, I wasn't really a fan of the pancake machine and the traditional waffle iron would be much more hardy and suitable. Overall, no major problems with our room however, the TV system is unique and sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn't often to look at Pluto versus even accessing the live channels as their entertainment system is kind of finicky. Additionally, the lotion dispenser in our room did not work, and I really wanted to try the lotion as I thought the fragrance for the body wash and hand Soap was very pleasant. Lastly, the workers at this hotel are just not very friendly. They're not rude. They're just not hospitable and that was evident from the front desk to the breakfast attendance to the maintenance person. They just were not very friendly or engaging at overall. If in this area again, I would stay at this hotel if the price point was right. overall it was a good value and close to St. Joseph while having the charm of Stevensville.

It's a lovely place for a restaurant and we've been able to find comfortable seating for a large group. We visited on Black Friday and had a nice experience! Our server was attentive and fast, drinks were handled very well with everyone getting different coffees, teas, etc. and we were all ordered with the food out within 15 minutes. One dish was delayed but the rest came out on time. The food is pretty standard for an American brunch spot- it's 4/5 stars when it comes to seasoning/quality in my opinion, and comes at a higher price point- but I think you're paying for the view which makes sense! The windows over the water are beautiful and the decor is cozy and comfortable. So all in all, this is a great choice of a spot for a date night or family meal. The menu has all of your standard brunch options- a Benedict, pancakes, several omelettes, a classic breakfast, a hash, etc. I ordered the garden omelette and it left a little to be desired- potatoes weren't all the way cooked/ sat in a lot of oil, eggs were well cooked but the veggies were cut in large chunks/on the more raw side. This is what I meant about being 4/5 stars. Large portion sizes though, and something for everyone on the menu. The pizzas and sandwiches always look really good! And there's an extensive drink menu as well as a holiday drink menu. I imagine this place would be amazing in the summer when Benton Harbor comes alive but it's charming in the colder months as well. I like that there was plenty of parking in the parking lot and the area was well lit and clean After we checked in the hotel front desk we took the elevator, which was kind of scary cause it kept on bumping up and down when we were going to our room. It was nice to see a water fountain by the public bathroom that you can fill your water bottle quickly. There are many store had a nice variety of snacks to purchase. When we went to our room on the third floor room 305 when we entered the bathroom there was a black bucket with plastic bag half of it was full of water. We weren't sure if it was left behind or something dripping from the ceiling, we also saw a towel on the floor as well. Told the staff about the bucket which I believe was our garbage can they said they would replace it so I left it in the front door, but it was never replaced that evening nor in the morning when I went downstairs to get breakfast. They will need to fix the tub drain because the water wasn't draining too slow that our feet were submerged in the water. The shampoo bottle pump was totally empty with no shampoo that even a drop so I had to use the showering gel to wash my hair because I did not expect to bring my own shampoo with me when I travel. The room layout was nice. The air condition did keep the room cool the place was clean. The king size bed was nice and comfy that I didn't have to toss or turn. Was a bit disappointed that there was no outlet on the left side of the bed closest to the bathroom when I needed to charge my accessories near me, I would have to use an extension cord. I enjoy working out in the hotel gyms, and I was a bit disappointed that the treadmill was out of order And I didn't see any disposable earbuds stating that it was free for us to use available in the room. And there was no TV remote to watch in the gym. They did have fresh white hand towels to use. I looked at the pool side, which was nice but didn't have time for a swim . The continental breakfast was fine. They were pretty good in stocking up the food as people were getting their breakfast so no issue there. Interesting that they had a yogurt machine so that you can get a bowl of it and put different toppings in it. Overall it was an ok experience. The staff was friendly. I just didn't like the little things that I shouldn't have to complain about when staying in a hotel that I paid over $200 for plus being asked to add $100 on our card for any incidentals and then if there isn't any, they would credit back your hundred dollars.
