IMO this was very expensive for what we ordered and received; +$5.99 delivery and then a tip on top of that. I ordered the large pizza and breadsticks deal. I didn't receive the breadsticks so I called right away. I should have checked the rest of my order before hanging up. My GF margarita pizza was not cooked all the way, and was missing the basil. I also asked for sesame seed crust and that was not on there either. I know this place is new, but I won't be rushing back anytime soon with other pizza places closer and better service. read more

First time ordering at this place. I ordered a small pickle pizza and cheese bread. Both tasted pretty good although I felt like the pickles were a bit old tasting. This is off putting to me. I probably would not order from here again. There are many other places I'd like to try. read more

Locate in a little strip mall right past 12 mile on Harper with ample parking and a cool Sports Card and memorabilia store next store. Tried the NY style Margarita with fresh basil. They use a solid sauce and the dough was very good with a good amount of fresh basil on top made for a good pie. read more

I decided to give Ray's a try tonight because they had a deal for a one topping NY style pizza for National Pizza Day. I did half ricotta and half old fashioned pepperoni. The pizza was larger than I expected. I liked the flavor and the butter/garlic/cheese on the crust was delicious. You do have to pay over $3 for every topping (including the first one) so I wish there was more ricotta. I also found the pizza a bit greasy and wanted more sauce. This place is a hidden gem! Last night, we ordered margarita pizza, and spaghetti with an order of chicken spaghetti, and it was phenomenal. We are back again today. The price is perfect. I was very excited to see Ray's take over the old chain pizza place that was here. I literally just saw it driving by on Harper and thought it looked promising. I much prefer New York style pizza, which is hard to come by in the land of "Detroit-style" square, doughy pizza. So we tried this new place the first chance we got. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was all super good. The Pizza Margherita, the criterion by which I judge all pizza places, was fantastic, and loaded with basil in every bite. I love that they have the old-fashioned spicy pepperoni we got on the other pizza, and the antipasto salad was super fresh. So happy to have this pizza place in our neighborhood! read more

Phoned in service was fine . Picked up pizza , shop was Clean . Young girl at the register didn't want to be there. The pizza unfortunately was below average . Got a margarita & reg pepperoni & onion . Both looked & smelled great . Both were greasy & flavorless . Seemed like low quality products used . Even the pepperoni lacked flavor . The toppings would pull right off with all the cheese . Margarita was bland , pepperoni was like 4 different people made it , very inconsistent topping on each slice and the sauce was really bad on both pizzas ( not a pizza sauce) , almost like you're not eating pizza . I'm going to give it another shot because the pizza has 5star potential. Unfortunately I ordered ahead before they were open for pickup on way home from work and they clearly made my pizza as soon as they got it not for the 6:15pm pickup I scheduled. The fresh mozzarella on the NY Style looked like it was from the day before. I called and they were very polite and offered a new pizza but honestly I was tired and hungry so in the oven it went. It actually heated up really well so I'm sure the fresh pie would be excellent. read more

At today's prices I don't think any business can be turning customers away and not having managers on premises who can think. I ordered a pizza from Ray's. The order read for pickup when it was intended for delivery. Not sure why that happened, but I called them immediately and was told that I would have to give them a cash delivery fee at time of delivery. I explained I don't have any cash in the house other than large bills. The kid on the phone was unable to handle customer service and should not be the manager of a business. Three options come immediately to mind 1-provide change to the driver for the pizza. 2-Add the charge to my card 3-He cancels order and I reorder Kids of today cannot think out of the box!~ Ray's has lost a good customer absent some kind of professional response for my aggravation. read more

My favorite pizza that I've come across in the area!! The Adrianna New York Style pizza I sometimes dream about, I would seriously eat it every single day if I could. It's hard to find NY style pizza that stays crispy on the bottom around here, but this place does it! Their breadsticks, they are so simple, but are so addicting. Not to mention, I always have to get my pizza and bread with a side of ranch and marinara sauce which both taste so fresh and delicious. The staff has been friendly the few times I've been in too. It can get a little pricey, prices comparable to places like Jet's, but it's well worth it for pizza this good! read more

Great round pizza, the first trip I got the plain cheese with sesame seed crust. The dough is fresh and delicious and the sauce has a great flavor. I really enjoyed it! My next trip I tried the supreme round with cheese crust. The toppings were super fresh and I like how they cut the onion and green pepper. The sausage is really good compared to the "fake" sausage Jet's uses. I highly recommend this place. I will be going back to try the square and New York style. Happy to have found a solid pizza joint with fair prices and really fresh ingredients. Plus the staff is very friendly and I can tell they appreciate my business. My friends and I experienced the worst customer service, here. The driver cussed at us because the porch light was off (we explained it was broken), but proceeded to tell us off anyways. We called the store to explain what happened and was told "it was our fault and should have turned the light on", even explaining again it was broke, again. I'm originally from the East Coast and have been in Michigan for forty years. I've been on a search for a pie in Michigan closest to the ones we get back east well I found the place Ray's !!!! From the minute I smelled the pie and bit into the pie, took me back to my childhood everything was delicious ordered two large pizzas, one a meat, lovers, cheese, and pepperoni and cheese. The calzone had a bit too much ricotta for my liking but all in all was a good calzone! When i picked up my order the owner gave us a complimentary cheese bread because he had made anextra. This place is amazing! The pizza- their dough is sooo good! The sauce and all ingredients are super fresh. Their salads are made to order and the people are so friendly and make you want to come back. Their prices are on par with all others but the taste is above and beyond. Pizza was 30 minutes late and cold. I ordered a build your own pizza new york style with uncured pepperoni onion mushrooms and feta. When the pizza finally arrived it did not have pepperoni at all and did not taste good. I always order extra because I love leftovers, unfortunately this pizza is going in the trash. I've had the cheese bread twice now, and it's about what you'd expect it to be. I will say, the first time I had it was better than the second. I recommend getting the garlic butter dip. As for the wings, they were just okay, but I'd be willing to give them another try. All things considered, Johnny Z's is a solid, local pizza place, and is better than your typical pizza chain.

It all starts with the owner. I love when I'm in a restaurant and the owner takes pride in the details that make their products stand out and is excited to share them with you. That's what happened here. Some of those details include 1) Canadian style pepperoni. Far lower fat content that typical pepperoni and shredded. This was great. Frankly I'm not sure i ever want regular pepperoni again. They were incredibly flavorful and not at all greasy. A big win 2) Portion size, here every size is approximately 2" bigger that comparable size at other restaurants 3) The ovens, no heated conveyor belt here. this is a legit stone oven, high temp pizza oven that bakes a great pie. I couldn't wait to get home to try the pizza. At the first bite I was in love. The crust had a nice crispy bottom while maintaining a soft, pillowy, chewy taste on top. The sauce was silky smooth and had a little spiciness to it. All the meats were incredibly tasty as well. The shredded pepperoni was the standout though. I also really appreciate the fact that they offered flavored crust. I got garlic butter and it was like having bonus a breadstick with each slice. My wife got a Margherita pizza and loved hers as well. To top it all off, the breadsticks were fantastic too. If good food wasn't enough, the prices were very reasonable, a huge advantage that A Slice of Rome has over another newish local pizza place I recently reviewed. This may be my new go to pizzeria. I'll definitely be back
