Good thing Square One Brewery & Distillery was literally a block from where I was staying. I ate dinner there Saturday. Then went back for brunch Sunday. Part convenience, part damn good food. Folks, they have a smashburger made with bratwurst and Angus beef, topped with cheddar and bacon. (I subbed Swiss, and slathered that thing with Pale Ale Mustard and ... Holy Sammich, Batman!) Add perfectly executed (and perfectly salted), piping-hot fries and I was a very happy traveler. I also loved the neighborhood vibe. It's sort of the St. Louis version of "Cheers" -- friendly, relaxed and clearly a place where people know each other. And the spacious patio has just enough shade that you can actually enjoy being outside without slowly roasting yourself.
