I visited here at 3:25pm on a Friday afternoon while taking a food break from City Museum. I finally ordered at 3:40pm via tablet (delay due to son's indecisiveness). Sons and I are visiting from out of town. Order included: Kids chicken tenders and fries, chicken Philly, regular Philly, mozzarella sticks, and 3 Arizonas; total was $47. The prices on the tablet for some items were slightly higher than prices listed on the menu above the counter. Food was ready at 4:04pm. It was odd to see other people come, order, and receive their food before us though. We ate inside. Whatever seasoning they use on the fries and moz sticks can be overwhelming in large quantities; it made us cough. Nonetheless, food was enjoyable! My friend was getting married so he requested this as his meal to get ready before the wedding. He kept raving about the wings but I was more excited to try all of the other side options. I got the fried cauliflower, onion rings, hush puppies, corn nuggets, okra, mac n cheese bites, coconut shrimp, and pizza puff. I got my husband a cheesesteak. The fries were good with ranch. My first visit to St. Louis and this was a terrible representation of the city! We waited soooooo long for our food. People that came in and ordered after us got their food first, and when we asked about it, we were told "it's because they got wings". Well guess what? WE got wings TOO!!! I think the guy working the front with the backwards hat and the gold chain was purposely filling the orders of his regular customers first or putting ours at the back of the line because we crept complaining about the wait. Then I finally get my order after waiting 30 minutes and complaining 3 times. Get to the car and the "catfish nuggets" I ordered with my wings were actually chicken nuggets when I bit into them. I bring the order back to the front and guess what? The guy at the front, again, initially started laughing. Am I in the twilight zone? Like you know NOTHING about good customer service and he obviously didn't care either. I immediately told him it was NOT funny that I had to wait 30 minutes just to get the wrong order. Then the kicker; he says "that's not chicken. It's catfish we just cooked it too long". Excuse me, but what?! Like who do you take me for?! Fried everything. Know this. Pop's is what I think of as a hole-in-the-wall local spot. Nothing fancy, just good food. Forget decor, service, and niceties like a bathroom to wash up in, just get your food and enjoy. Stopped in to get a quick bite before a Blues game. Staff weren't particularly friendly or inviting, but neither were they rude or short and everyone was keeping busy, so that's fine. Food wasn't quick, but neither was it particularly slow and the two dudes in the open kitchen weren't slacking. The food was piping hot and fresh. The food quality wasn't particularly great, but neither was it bad at all and the preparation was pretty good. I could nit pick, but I won't lest I give the impression I was dissatisfied. The prices weren't very good, but neither were they particularly bad given how expensive that neighborhood can be. I ordered delivery from Pop's through UberEats. I ordered the 10 whole wings with extra lemon pepper and cheese fries and got a Vess soda. It is delicious! Not one thing not done incorrectly. Their customer service is everything else well. It's on the corner of Washington/14th Street. If you go through delivery the fries and a drink comes with it already.
