Everyone, I found you a late night spot. Pops Kitchen on Washington Ave is proof that not all late-night fried food has to come in a cardboard box from a chain. This is the local joint where the grease is just better and the fish actually tastes like fish. My friend was getting married so he requested this as his meal to get ready before the wedding. He kept raving about the wings but I was more excited to try all of the other side options. I got the fried cauliflower, onion rings, hush puppies, corn nuggets, okra, mac n cheese bites, coconut shrimp, and pizza puff. I got my husband a cheesesteak. The fries were good with ranch. I thought everything was good, just not amazing. The only thing noteworthy was the pizza puff. It was piping hot and stuffed like a big pizza hot pocket. Very flavorful and came with fries. Well worth the price. Bring cash if you don't want to pay a credit card surcharge. Street parking only so that's hard to find. I got dropped off. BEWARE!!! I was attacked outside of this building, at RANDOM by 2 women. Food is way too mid and too expensive to risk getting JUMPED. Charge you a dollar for a tiny cup of hidden valley ranch after paying 30$ for sauceless wings and shrimp. Service is rude, it's "I don't wanna be here" attitudes. I'd say the only criticism is paying attention to the orders as they come out. Our order sat on the counter even after we inquired, and he didn't see it under all the orders he allowed to pile up. That being said, if they fixed their method on orders, the food was delicious! I love the white pepper on the fries and the chicken strips... awesome touch So much food is given. I couldn't even finish! The rest of the staff was so nice and accommodating. I wish we had more time in St Louis. I would have gone back! They need one in Cali! All in all, u need to try it. My first visit to St. Louis and this was a terrible representation of the city! We waited soooooo long for our food. People that came in and ordered after us got their food first, and when we asked about it, we were told "it's because they got wings". Well guess what? WE got wings TOO!!! I think the guy working the front with the backwards hat and the gold chain was purposely filling the orders of his regular customers first or putting ours at the back of the line because we crept complaining about the wait. Then I finally get my order after waiting 30 minutes and complaining 3 times. Get to the car and the "catfish nuggets" I ordered with my wings were actually chicken nuggets when I bit into them. I bring the order back to the front and guess what? The guy at the front, again, initially started laughing. Am I in the twilight zone? Like you know NOTHING about good customer service and he obviously didn't care either. I immediately told him it was NOT funny that I had to wait 30 minutes just to get the wrong order. Then the kicker; he says "that's not chicken. It's catfish we just cooked it too long". Excuse me, but what?! Like who do you take me for?! I'm literally standing here shredding the chicken fibers in your face and you're trying to play with me, laughing and still telling me it's fish??? Dishonest, disgraceful and disgusting!!!! The man who fixed my order was very kind but his niceness couldn't make up for the attitude of the other guy. I would NEVER come back here! read more

I was out late and needed something open after midnight. Looked at pop's menu and thought-why not-...Glad I did! Ordered hot wings and wings and catfish nuggets. All came out nice and hot. Hot wings were hot enough and didn't overtake the flavor. Catfish was not over or undercooked. Just right. And the light breading on the wings was very tasty. Esp with the lemon pepper sauce they use. Only use for French fries was to swirl them in the hot sauce in the box. If you eat in, don't expect fancy, but it's clean. read more

Fried everything. Know this. Pop's is what I think of as a hole-in-the-wall local spot. Nothing fancy, just good food. Forget decor, service, and niceties like a bathroom to wash up in, just get your food and enjoy. Stopped in to get a quick bite before a Blues game. Staff weren't particularly friendly or inviting, but neither were they rude or short and everyone was keeping busy, so that's fine. Food wasn't quick, but neither was it particularly slow and the two dudes in the open kitchen weren't slacking. The food was piping hot and fresh. The food quality wasn't particularly great, but neither was it bad at all and the preparation was pretty good. I could nit pick, but I won't lest I give the impression I was dissatisfied. The prices weren't very good, but neither were they particularly bad given how expensive that neighborhood can be. Overall this place isn't going to impress anybody and I won't make a special trip for it, but it's solid and Pop's will be at the top of my list if I find myself hungry and in the neighborhood. read more

The place is clean, they do require masks and social distancing. The employees were friendly, had gloves and masks on. There is a restroom but out of order due to the Covid19 restrictions. I ordered delivery from Pop's through UberEats. I ordered the 10 whole wings with extra lemon pepper and cheese fries and got a Vess soda. It is delicious! Not one thing not done incorrectly. Their customer service is everything else well. It's on the corner of Washington/14th Street. If you go through delivery the fries and a drink comes with it already. So I ended up with 2 cheese fries but I'm not complaining it's all good and will be eaten later with the rest of my chicken. All Smiles! read more

So... I called, and a guy answered, i said hi, I'd like to make an order for pickup. He hung up the phone, then continued to leave the store phone off the hook, so when I called, it would respond with a busy tone. I called back several times, because I heard this place's food was bitchin good. So the fact that I got the rudest recall here makes me wonder if I should even eat at this establishment. The kids love it! The food is wonderful as well! Award winning chili and yummy hot wings are on the menu. Tons of sandwiches, but if you don't want meat, the roasted veggies with garlic bread are great too. If you're on a low carb diet, the grilled chicken breast has the best seasonings! Beer is cold and service is fast and friendly. It's definitely worth a stop in this little bar if you like little "dive" places with great food, and fun ambience. Oh, almost forgot to add: the prices are extremely reasonable.

Would have given it a 5 star but the service was really bad. The waiter barely waited on us and he decided the chips I ordered should be fries instead. ($1.50 up charge and I don't even eat fries) He never came back to see if our food was ok (we were sitting at the counter and ignored) so I was never able to get it corrected so we had to pay the up charge. Plus people at other tables were yelling at him from a booth over the counter "can we get some boxes and our bill" and another booth did the same, so evidently everyone got the same crappy service.

How happy am I to learn this place reopened with a new name? We were here within the hour of…read morelearning it had reopened (was Pho Grand). And it lived up to our expectations. Love the new cocktail bar they added. It take away some seating however people can eat at bar too. We ordered cocktails while waiting for our table which took only a few minutes. My husband tried their version of an old-fashioned which used both bourbon and rum!!! It was good but he said definitely a "sipper". They have a full bar and much better wine selection now too. Starters for us were a bowl of wonton soup and the spring rolls. Both were good but rolls a little rubbery to me. The highlight of our meals was charbroiled pork. We are not capable of ordering anything else. Ha. I get 15.04 and he got 15.03 which includes an egg roll. Divine food!! The people who own this place are so friendly. Our waiter was also very nice. We can't wait to return

Try the Pho Dac Biet along with a mix of hoisin sauce, chili garlic and the chili crisp - this combo was a good replacement for my usual hoisin sauce/sa té combo at pho restaurants. The pork eggrolls had an unusual surprise - fresh sliced mushrooms (in case you were wondering why the crust was darker in hue). We chatted briefly with Jeff, the owner, and learned a ton about the restaurant's history and re-launch. It's a good sized venue, with great lighting and seating plus excellent service. I would dine here again!
