He also happens to be the barber of many of my friends, and while I'd like to take full credit for that, I think it may just be that words gotten out about just how good he is. For someone at my age of 46 who still has good hair, I am a bit particular on who and how cuts it. In a few short words, Pedro is the man. After just a couple visits he knows my hair and what I want without needing to ask. The rest of the employees are super friendly, and have gotten a good cut on the few times I walked in without an appointment. Best barbershop I've ever been to. Every barber is really cool and laid back. Joel cuts and shaves like a goddamn boss. Randomly have had cuts from almost every barber there, and they are all consistently awesome. I come in here when I have an interview or a serious work presentation and need to look as sharp as possible, and hell...they even are patient with kids. Never seen or felt a bad vibe in there once over 2 and a half years, even when it's swamped. Never had a bad experience from going in there. Hell, never had anything short of a fun and comfortable experience when I walked in there. Also, their general customer service is awesome. Been going for a couple years since moving down here, and they have always made sure that both new and old customers are treated right. The seating area is -- as far as I could tell -- a long row of old pew. Like in a church, sitting in one for an extended period of time is uncomfortable. The guy who cut my husband's hair -- whose name he has forgotten since it's been a week and he's a man -- did an exceptional job, even though he didn't have a lot to go on. "Really low maintenance. I was (apparently rare) lucky on my first visit! I was a walk-in just before the barber shop opened and only had to wait ~30-minutes to get my mop cut. The atmosphere was a manly barber shop, with punk music in the background and many reading options. By far the best asset was their offering of complimentary beer on tap. AWESOME! Unfortunately I declined my offering of a cold Rolling Rock, I had just finished my mocha from Temple Coffee and wasn't quite ready for a cold beer haha. But next time I will in fact drink one! My barber was Billy, truly awesome at his craft. Getting your haircut at a barber is by far the best place for a guy to get a haircut. They are tailored to cut men's hair and it definitely shows. I got exactly what I asked for and will always return. Considering going to Fantastic Sams, or Super Cuts and getting your hair butchered and turning out occasionally horrible, go here and spend an extra $5 for a perfected haircut all the time, a free cold beer, and talking to a guy instead of some boring yappity girl. As the barber's appointments came rolling in, I understood why all of them had appointments. If you don't have an appointment, you are SOL. Great atmosphere here! Brought my boys for a cut and at ages four and six they're pretty wiggly and impatient. The barbers here were incredibly friendly and patient, definitely skilled at working with kids. They were very competent in understanding what type of haircuts that I wanted. I was the Best Man for my friend's wedding and he wanted a haircut and straight razor shave for himself as well as all the Groomsmen at the day of the Wedding. Razorbacks was very accommodating in making sure that happened, even after some last minute change of plans. For myself the straight razor shave was good and the haircut was done good. The straight razor experience is less than what you'd experience at The Art of Shaving, but nonetheless, it's still a very good experience. In regards to the price, $30+ for a haircut at a Barbershop is very steep. Yes they have a beer tap...but you're essentially paying an extra $10+ for a cup of beer and a trendy environment. Is it worth it? That's up to you to decide, but I'd rather spend $10 less and get my hair washed as well by a hair stylist vs spending $10 more and getting a glass of beer. I understand they are one of the few places where you can get a straight razor shave so you pay for the availability of services, but the prices are a bit steep. Also note that their pay is not centralized, and you have to pay the barber direct. They may or may not take Credit Cards, despite saying that they do. It's a great environment vs other Trendy "Macho" barbershops and great for groups. Flying solo..it may not be the best value. read more

If you want the trendy mad men side part, they probably can do this better than any shop around, but that's just not my cut. Ambience is cool, no frills, and you cant complain about being offered a beer when you come in..... but they raised their cuts to $25, and I go each week for a cut so that just got to be a bit much.... Finally! A solid barbershop with great technical skills and no drama. As an "old guy" with a "suit and tie" kind of job, I need a consistent and conservative haircut. I had been looking for a barber for over a year after my regular guy retired. I prefer barbershops to salons, so I would try various shops in the LA area that I saw on Yelp, getting cuts about every 3 weeks. Most of the places were okay, but definitely not great. After growing out my last haircut, I decided to make the drive to LB and try Razorbacks. I walked in and was lucky to get a spot with Jesse. He is absolutely the real deal. He takes his time to understand what you want, offers great suggestions, and then makes it happen. Since my regular barber retired, Jesse is the only guy I have found who can cut my hair using a comb to uniformly gauge my hair length. I cannot recommend Jesse highly enough. I go in and Scotty helps me right away offeres me a beer and i tell him what i Want. So he starts cutting my hair not facing the mirror which i thought was odd, we talk and Bs and 45 min later im done! he did great but he didnt fade the razr cut so i had a line and he charged me $30 bucks! which i thought was waaaaay to much for a razr fade... Today was my first time in the shop, I made an appointment 30 minutes prior to showing up and was able to walk right in and sit down. Billy was my barber, he was very friendly and could tell exactly what I wanted despite some of my hesitation explaining it. Late post, but Jared is my go-to guy. I came here just for a trim and he did it amazingly. Asked for just a trim around the sides and back because I like to keep volume on top and he did just that. He has also been the first barber that has done a great job of trimming my beard. It's been very difficult to find someone to trust cut both well and without any issued especially having a natural wavy thick beard. Thanks Jared! Thanks razor backs! Just got one of the best cuts of my life here. Told the barber what I wanted but also told him that I'm not too fussy so feel free to do what works. He gave me a stellar cut, took his time and had good precision, not overly talkative which to me is a plus and I loved the cut. To top it off he apologized for a 10 minute wait which was no big deal to me as at most places I'm use to waiting 15-25 minutes extra even with an appointment. Definitely will be back, the only two things I didn't like was that I heard they offer beers to some, I didn't get offered one, then again I'm not sure if you have to ask.
