This is the one place that I have complete faith in to give me a solid and professional hair cut every single time. They do not skip a beat. They can give you a clean, crispy razor fade and actually know how to use scissors to make sure the rest of your hair is even, thinned, layered or what ever else you need done. I've held off on a review for Razorbacks until I've a few cuts from them. I'm also feeling a little guilty considering that I've been an extremely loyal customer of Syndicate (one could say their "rival") for quite a few years. Unfortunately, Syndicate has eliminated their appointment protocol, leaving customers of theirs to take a crap-shoot on how long of a wait time there could be. You could be taken care of right away or you could wait for an hour or two. But enough of that. My two visits to Razorbacks were with Jarred. The place itself takes up a space that once was a drug store and the decor is really nice...not overly masculine but the walls are lined with artwork and classic barber tools and advertisements. The waiting area and the shop itself is quite large and spacy. They do offer beer on tap for customers if they choose to partake. My first cut was spot on and was extremely happy with the results. But I noticed while looking in the mirror that he nicked my ear with the straight razor...and didn't tell me (oddly I didn't feel it or notice it). I remember he rushed the shave a bit and this has to be where the cut happened. Not to mention my neck was a bit raw. My second cut was last week, and again with Jarred. He gave the same detail to attention to the haircut (actually found himself annoyed and determined to fix a cowlick that wouldn't sit in the back) and this time, the straight razor shave was noticeably different and much more slower. I mean, it's a sharp as hell razor and unless your are Sweeney Todd, the goal is to give the customer an extremely close shave without drawing blood and making the skin irritated. With the second visit, I'm much more confident in returning back to Razorbacks for a cut in the future. In my two experiences, I never had to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes. I also love that they use and sell Imperial Barber products (I love their Gel Pomade and their Classic Pomade). And they do take appointments. read more

Been getting my haircut here for a couple months now. Excellent customer service. Whenever I call, they always have options when they can't give me the schedule I want. Great atmosphere. Just people being real and talking to each other. The place has that comforting clean/leather/aftershave smell to it. Great haircuts! I wouldn't keep coming back if they weren't. This place is OVERRATED. It's legit, don't get me wrong - bustling and got a cool, edgy vibe. If that's why you go then hit it and enjoy. If you go for a premium (or just good) haircut experience, hmmmm. Maybe it was just my barber, Wayne, but he devoted more time and care to putting the cape and neck strip on me then he did actually cutting hair. He was a really nice guy, too, I wish I had better things to say. But after waiting 20 minutes in the holding pen, then 5 minutes of the cape and neck strip ceremony, it was over before I knew it. Seriously, after a FEW minutes of snips with the sheers, he handed me the mirror and I thought he wanted to show me something specific that he was doing. But he was done. As in DONE done. He's like "Here you go, what do you think?" Uhhhh, you didn't do much, Wayne. You didn't screw it up, but $45 plus tip? Really? And his transaction machine only offered default tip choices of 20%, 25% and 30%, lol!!! F this place, don't waste your time or money (though you won't need much time!). read more

I can say I have been converted to The Barbershop. After years of getting my haircut at salons and places like Great Clips, I heard about Razorbacks and decided to try it out. I called to make an appointment and a friendly voice answered. He was helpful and set me up with an appointment for 2pm on a Wednesday. I walked in at it was pretty barebones. Only 2 barbers working. I was greeted and asked to take a seat. The shop is very rugged and has a cool barbershop feel. I had read that some people were offered draft beer while they waited. I wasn't offered any, but that's ok maybe the keg was empty. Not a big deal. My barber, Johnny gestured me over at 2:05 (happy with the punctuality) and asked me what I'd like. I could tell He was very experienced because my explanation was anything but helpful. He seemed to know exactly what I wanted. We talked a bit during the cut, though he was very fast and efficient it was over before I knew it. The cut looked great and I will definitely be back. The reason for the 4/5 stars is the price. $30 + Tip is a bit much for a men's haircut. However, I'm sold on this place. read more

I'm sure that this place is very professional. I went in for the very first time on 1/29/21 trying to find a new establishment due to COVID-19. I am happy with my hair cut over all but this morning when styling my hair I can see long hairs above both of my ears. I am not very happy with the efficiency. I just want to say I usually get my haircut at a place where I pay half the price and they do a better job. I am not sure if I would go back. Called yesterday to set an appointment for today. They booked me in at the time I wanted. It was my first time at this shop since I moved. I didn't know any of the barbers so I took a risk. Johnny cut me up and hooked me up. Great guy and knew my pain about looking for a barber when I just moved out here. My boyfriend had here before, and they did a good job BUT!!... He went back today and they did a terrible hack job. I scheduled an appt for 10:30am for a beard trim and haircut. He got there 5 mins late and they have him crazy attitude, but they took him in. Then when he got home I was stunned. This is not the quality job this place is known for. They murdered his beard. They clipped it way to short in different areas, so it looks like he just has random bald spots. Even the fade is terrible. Jair gave my 7 year old a decent cut, but it took him 20 minutes to do an uneven fade. He used a razor to edge a child which is an absolute NO-NO. But the killer was the $25 charge. That's ridiculous for a fade. He says he normally charges $35 for a haircut & shave. Okay, that's overpriced too. I'm not the only one with this complaint. There's nothing that they're doing in this shop worth what they're charging. My advice-find a barber that realizes that there are different kinds of cuts that should be priced accordingly. I have to update my review because I got a personal text to my cell phone from Jair because I chose to review his services on Yelp. I did the professional thing by tipping this guy $5 on top of the $25 haircut. I appreciated him squeezing me in that's why I tipped. But now, I'll be calling the owner. As he states that "Yelp reviews don't make him or break him". We'll see how your boss feels about your professionalism. Stay tuned. I was informed that Jair no longer works there. I don't trust anyone else with my cuts; believe me, I've tried (out of necessity, not choice). I moved away from Long Beach for two years and had terrible cuts for two years. This place has great reviews on yelp so I decided to give em a shot. I'm not the type of guy to spend $30 on a cut generally, but wanted a superior cut for a change. Barber, whose name I don't recall, didn't engage with me when I made requests (like a yes or even a grunt), his comb scraped against my scalp harder than I've ever felt and nicked my ear with his clippers (not major at all but made me flinch when he got close to my ear again)...all that being said, if I ended up with a KILLER haircut I wouldn't have left a negative review... I get home and find that my sideburns are UNEVEN. Yes that's right - One is POINTY and the other cut FLAT. WTF. Not to mention the amount of hair on either side of my head are visibly UNEVEN...He made rudimentary mistakes and they have the audacity to set their minimum tips to 30% on check out!!! Maybe I got unlucky with a noob barber by chance but please hire more competent barbers...I'll head to Supercuts next time I want an uneven trim. Thanks ;( read more
