My initial experience started off kinda weird bc I walked in and stood there for a bit waiting on a server but once we got past that and I was seated, the service was much better. I ordered a cocktail from the menu but the bartender didn't seem to know how to make it. What I ended up with tasted ok but was pretty disappointed in the amount of liquor for the price. The drinks are tiny and filled with ice. Literally three to four sips and it's gone. I had the Buffalo wings and they actually had a nice flavor but not enough sauce made them taste dry. Poor, slow service and mediocre food. We arrived at 5 PM (an hour before the end of happy hour) and were told they only had a "game day" menu consisting on a half dozen appetizers, wings, and pizza. We ordered one appetizer, a pizza, wings, and two drinks from the happy hour menu. Neither drink was available. The appetizer and pizza arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The wings were so slow that, without a comment from us, they sent out a second complementary appetizer. Once they did arrive, the wings were over cooked to the point where the skin was leathery. Decent hotel restaurant. Personally, I usually avoid hotel restaurants because the food and service is typically terrible. The R bar and Grill is better than most so I gave it three stars. The service was excellent. The ribeye steak was pretty good. Steak seemed like it may have been frozen which isn't a big deal. It can still taste great that way. I ordered it medium rare and it came out very rare or blue, which is fine by me. French fries definitely tasted frozen but had a good salt pepper mix on them. Stayed in the Hilton Arlington for a couple of months while traveling for work. The first trip I made I stopped in here to eat and at least 3 of their "on tap" beers were not available. The bar service was good, the cocktails were not consistent, I had an Old Fashioned on several occasions, sometimes they were very watered down, but the service was always good. The restaurant service and food are unreliable and inconsistent. One dinner with workmates took us nearly 2 hours because nobody would wait on us. A bartender finally came over and took our order, the kitchen botched almost everything we ordered. If you're staying in the hotel, my advice would be to eat here only when there is no crowd. My last week after 2 months at this hotel, the bar still had not resolved their issue with beers listed as "on tap". Expect to drink domestic bottle beers, don't expect a quality dining experience. Eat elsewhere if you want a good meal. read more

Nice place and expansive menu, but I've walked away disappointed from the last two dinners experienced here. Apps - Onion Rings - regular, greasy goodness. Salads 1) Smokey Caesar - Awesome "Texan" take on this with the fried green tomatoes and corn. But the dressing is still a bit bland. It's a huge portion for $8. They should really offer half-sizes. 2) Lime Chilled Shrimp - Hate. Well hate might be a strong word, but I disliked this salad extremely. The shrimp had a weird taste and texture. I'm not even sure if there was dressing on it. Definite disappointment. Steaks & More - Ribeye - Yikes!! It was very fatty and tough. I would venture to say less than half of the 18 oz steak was actually edible. Furthermore, the baked potato seemed like it was microwaved because it was SO dry. Texas-sized portions but the quality and execution were not there. Dessert - Creme Brûlée - It was the redeeming part of the meal. - Peach Cobbler - I didn't try this but one of my bosses did. This place is really cool! Drink menu is great and so is the food menu. It has lots of options with affordable prices. The atmosphere is super cool with their brick oven, and relaxed bar & dining area. Outside seating is available as well which is nice at night! Our bartender Joe was the absolute best. He was spot on for recommendations as for drinks and food. He really went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Hope to see him again! As for the food everything was tastier than the next. We had the fried chicken sliders which came with your choice of fries- Absolutely delicious. We also tried the spinach and artichoke dip with crab- Great portion they give you and a nice twist on a classic bar dish. Brisket nachos - super tasty and gave you a huge serving. My friend and I came here based on a Zagat review. Boy were we disappointed!! We started with the $9 spinach and crab dip with "house made" tortilla chips. What a joke! The first dip came out basically room temperature. Sent it back and the second came out slightly warmer. Take a look at the "house made" tortilla chips. Maybe the cold cheese they tossed on top made them "house made". I ordered the friend chicken sliders with green chili gravy & garlic Parmesan fries. The chicken obviously was re-fried after sitting around for hours. Disgusting!! The limp, greasy fries were horrible! Service was also really slow and not worth a decent tip. I was expecting more because of the Zagat article recommending it as one of the top 13 reasons to drive to Arlington. I'll suggest you skip this crappy hotel restaurant and find a better local joint. read more

I came here for lunch today since it's in the hotel I'm staying at. When I walked in, there was no one around so I didn't know if I should seat myself or wait. I waited for like 40 seconds until I just sat myself. Then my waitress Kelly came out and apologize if I had to wait long. It looked like she was the only one working. She took my drink order then my entree order. I got the R Burger medium rare with American cheese and asked for no onion and pickle. My burger took about 10 minutes to come out. It came out with ranch, some other sauce and a bbq ketchup. Kelly said I could ask for regular ketchup which I did. She was attentive to my table and kept checking up on me. When I was halfway eating my burger I notice there was 1 pickle inside when there shouldn't be any so I just took it out. It would've been an issue if I was allergic but since I'm not it's not a problem for me. The burger was okay and the fries was about the same. read more

Food was good. Had the Cheeseburger with a salad. My friend ordered the Hawaiian flatbread and garlic Parmesan fries. Prices are reasonable but service is hit or miss. Sat at the bar and once they initially served you they didn't seem to care about follow up. My friend ordered a skillet dessert in which they delivered to someone else. Took forever and then didn't even seem to apologize. I thought that could've been handled way better. All in all not bad. Last weekend I surprised my wife by taking her for the second time to the R Bar and it did not disappoint. We went out on a limb trying some items that were new and not yet added to the menu and may have ordered with our eyes that evening as we both had quite the well deserved food coma when we got home. 1st Appetizer: Jalapeno grits, scallops, and watercress. We got to admit it took a little while to figure out how to eat it--you have to mix it all together practically to bring out all the flavors. 2nd Appetizer: Mediterranean Pizza. It comes with black olives, feta cheese, tomato, oregano, capers, artichoke, and basil leaves. Friggin' delicious. We felt so fancy eating it that I kinda wanted to order some wine to go with all the gourmet food on it. Ha. If you like salty flavors on a pizza then check this one out. My Entree: Chilean Sea Bass. This was my first time having sea bass and I realized I have been missing out! The sea bass was so white and juicy. And when you dip in the buttery glaze that came with it, omg, so good. The sides of zucchini, squash, and onions were tasty too.     Her Entree: Drunken Chicken. The wife allowed me to nibble on her chicken and it was good too. So soft, that it was almost falling off the bone. The hicama on the plate is served so that it's almost a salad and there's quite a bit too. My Dessert: Passion Fruit Brulee. The custard was sweet, fruity and the caramel layer on top was yummy. Her Dessert: Chili Peach Cobbler. Not the 'traditional' southern cobbler you'd imagine. The main difference here is the cobbler has a kick, either chili powder or a heap of cinnamon, and less crust / crumbs than a traditional cobbler. OMG were to start. The place is beautiful. The fire places outside to the pizza oven inside. The drinks were all fabulous three of us had the Texas Peach with peach vodka an Dublin peach soda. The sea bass was fabulous the vegetables were perfect sea bass moist an the chili sauce made it all so so good the sweet hot just popped. This service here is just bad. This was my second visit and it was worst this time. My server couldn't answer basic menu questions. The menu says "ask your server about barrel-aged cocktails featuring buffalo trace and Rebecca creek". I asked my server and he said, "ummm, I don't know. We don't have that.".... I asked my server does the sandwich come with a side he said, " ummmm, I don't know... I don't think so". I asked him about Happy Hour at 5:50pm, his response "no, it's between.taking 4-7 Monday - Friday"..... at that very moment it was 5:50pm on a Friday. After going through these motions several times, I decided to text the members of my party who were OK their way here and advise we might need to find another location. I'd rather sit in traffic and drive to Southlake or Grapevine for a decent meal, great cocktails with outstanding service. I was planning on invited 4 friends here but I opted to grab a bite and leave. There's no way I'd invite my friends to a place with terrible service after a long work week..... oh when my food arrived, I couldn't really eat it. I had no knife, fork, napkin, etc.... I had to wait close to 10 minutes after my sandwich  (with no side) arrived to eat if because I had no utensils or napkins. I had to flag my server down to get utensils and napkins, it's not like he even checked on me at all. I was gonna order one more drink but oh well. Really good food, craft cocktails  and exceptional  service is extremly hard to find in Arlington, TX (outside of a few higher end chains). read more

Was on a business trip from Tallahassee and figured why not give this place a shot. I got the 4 cheese burger with bacon mac n cheese and it was incredible!!! If this is how Texans do hamburgers and treat their patrons, this is definitely a very welcoming and warming environment. It's safe to say, I already booked my flight back to Dallas just to come back to this fantastic restaurant. 6 out of 5 stars in my opinion. read more

Be very careful when ordering alcohol here! They do not print their prices on the menu and the sticker shock comes with the tab. Ordered a Macallan 18 which RETAILS for on the high end in sherry casks (which this definitely was not but trying to error in their favor) at $270-$280 for a 750ml bottle. They charged me $50/ounce! Holy hell! This is priced at Louis IV pricing almost it! Do the math. They are making about $1,268/bottle at retail and we know they are not paying retail here! Taking total advantage of the customer. As far as the food, lack luster at best. Ordered a half pizza ($10) they call the Jimmy. Basically an all meat pizza. Zero, none, nadda lick of flavor to this. Had a single slice and had the lady toss the rest in the trash. Told her it tasted like I was eating a plain melted hunk of mozzarella. The crust didn't even have a flavor. Fortunately she was kiNd enough to remove the pizza from the tab but then I was hit with my drink cost. Maybe they have better drink specials but for what I like and ordered, I would have walked the 600 feet over to Boston's next door. Located in the Arlington Hilton. While I've been here several times, I've only sat at the bar, I haven't ordered anything off their menu, booze only. Place has several things going for it I like. It's nice, really nice, nice digs, tables and booths are available if you want to make it a bit more private. There is a nice patio on the outside, but it shares a curb with the unloading for the hotel, so take it at that. The bar is four sided, marble tops, padded chairs. It's quiet, anyway, it has been on my visits. This isn't the place to get loud with your buddies. Clientele appears mostly from the hotel, and mostly business. The big point for me, is the quiet. There is a music service being played over the speakers, but it's never too loud. This is what I've been looking for lately. There are plenty of loud places around with bad acoustics. It's nice to know there is one place where I can actually hear myself think if needed. Easy to carry on a conversation here. And..it's reasonably "dim" here. Not too dark, but not bright, pretty perfect. Only downside is the TV's at the bar are basically right above your head, so you gotta crane your neck to see them, or lean back, a little awkward. There are more TV's scattered around the room. It's a nice place, but expect to pay more. I'm shelling out about $1 more on average on drinks. Service has been good, and if you want food, they try to serve a higher end menu, but there are burgers and such available. But if you're tired of loud, crazy places, this would be a break from those. Rio Mambo and BFF Asian down the street are nice places, but they can get loud, so I mosey down here sometimes. read more

Very poor service. Service is slow and the wait staff does not come back to deliver bread or additional water. We waited 25 minutes for appetizers and entrees, yet the woman sitting adjacent to us received her salad within 10 minutes of sitting down. Who manages this place? It's a classy joint for business class people to unwind. The food is complex and the menu is very unique. Oyster nachos! Country fryed chicken tacos! Kobe burgers! Goat cheese pizzas! The price is right for the for the high cuisine that is powered. Although by no means am I saying this place is affordable to eat lunch here on a regular basis if you work near the area. Decoration is fancy. Marble bar-top. Leather seats. The area is wide open with lots of space. It could be a great spot for happy hour or watching a sports event. Service. Kind of slow Extras. Absolutely do NOT eat here. I had a class at the hotel and stopped in to eat lunch on a one hour break. One hour should be enough time right? Wrong!!! My food came our 50 minutes after I ordered it (I asked waitstaff multiple times about it but they just kept saying everyone showed up at the same time) this restaurant was virtually empty. When my food finally comes out it's DISGUSTING! My fish is WAY WAY over cooked and my vegetables were pretty much raw. Staff again takes off and it takes another 10 min to get out of there after refusing to pay. I've heard good things about this restaurant but I didn't realize it was this good. The service is fantastic, the food is good & the restaurant is comfortable and inviting. My only complaint is that we ordered a tall craft beer on draft and it was $11. That's a little too expensive for draft beer and may be why there weren't many people in the dining room. Management may want to re-think the drink prices. My wine was $10 a glass and the bottle was $21 so if I go back, I'll probably get a bottle and take what I don't drink home.
