I've been here four times to thread my eyebrows and done it with both Ruchi and Bella. Based on personal experience, consistency is rare with threading - unless you've gone for many years and they know you well. For about 12 years in Jakarta, I would only go to one of two people to do my eyebrows... and I would follow them as they moved from one salon to another. I'm very particular with the shape of my eyebrows... and their symmetry. Moving to the U.S. where threading isn't as common initially forced me to lower my expectations just a touch..... as I explored one threading place to another - from NYC to Rancho Cucamonga to Wailea Bay to Palo Alto.. until I finally found "the one" in Burlingame - RB'S THREADING STUDIO. I've been a regular at this threading studio over the past year. It took me awhile to convince myself to switch from waxing to threading, but after trying this place out I now refuse to go anywhere else. It's inexpensive, the service is short and sweet, and even though I've moved out of the area I somehow still end up driving back here. I've tried to find places closer to work/home, but honestly, I'd rather go out of my way to drive to their reliable work and friendly service. Kudos to you Bella! It has been months and months since I went in for a wax for my eyebrows. Somehow, I cannot let myself grow out my brows to that point where the magical alchemy of wax and cloth and other stickiness converges to create a clean waxing job. In any case, I have been to RB's a number of types to accompany Leti G and finally decided to bite the bullet and try out threading. I was a little nervous as the idea of using thread to shave those annoying little hairs off was weird to me, but what have I got to lose (although in retrospect losing your eyebrows is a bad look, so it is a good thing I didn't lose a damn thing that day). Bella was great! She was fast, efficient and took one look and was like alright and went right to work. It was unnerving to hear a chainsaw like sound at your face but I just closed my eyes and thought of sunshine and rainbows. It took about 10 minutes and afterwards I looked at myself in the mirror and thought : "holy sh*t...I DEFINITELY needed to get this done sooner" They are super friendly, quick, and clean. I highly recommend if you need a good threading job to come to RB's. So guess who will be back? That's right. Moi! read more

I simply walked in here on Monday, before work. It was such a relief to be able to get my entire face threaded. I highly recommend! I believe Kritika (if you remember and I'm wrong, will the business pls correct me?) worked threaded my eyebrows and let me just say, This was my first time getting my eye brows done professional SINCE the beginning of the pandemic!! I was a little nervous and eager to get my eyebrows professionally done. She made me feel so comfortable because she is sweet and easy to talk, we talked about random things like perfume and traditions--making the experience so much more enjoyable. Her wealth of knowledge regarding threading shined through when she was able to give me PERFECT brows after a YEAR of little maintenance. It just feels so nice to finally have nice eye brows back. My eye brows are perfectly even, with the right arch an shape that fits my face. My face is so also so smooth since she threaded all of it and it has given me a boost in self esteem!! I highly recommend this place! she's not only sweet but very experienced! Note: I read some people saying it was hard to find--it really wasn't though. People are just so uptight. Whether shopping by myself or with friends, I ALWAYS see those eye brow threading booths that keep inviting me to try. But I really don't like to be in the eyes of the public for this sorta thing especially since I've never done it before and don't really know the process. Anyways, I never liked my brows because there's no curvature to them, just kinda straight, sorta thick, and just there. I tried to shape them through waxing and tweezing and it just never made me love them. So, of course, I turned to yelp and fellow yelpers for recommendations through reviews and I finally decided to try out Rb's Threading Studio. At first I was kinda apprehensive since you have to go down these steps of a building and you basically are greeted with paper-covered abandoned rooms with no directions of where the studio is. But whatever, it's day time so I went in a little further and saw the studio. Unfortunately, they were out on a break so I had to wait 30minutes but it's alright since there were many shops and a Sephora near by. When I entered the studio, I was greeted by two ladies. I felt a little awkward since they were speaking a foreign language and just sorta stared at me until I stammered out that I wanted to get my brows done. Throughout the entire ordeal, we barely spoke a word to each other other than asking my name and to ask me to hold the skin around my eye area so they can thread it. I have a pretty low pain tolerance and pretty sensitive so the first 5 seconds it did hurt like a hard pinch. But afterwards it was tolerable and wasn't so bad. It ended a lot sooner than I thought. After she finished, I looked in the mirror and loved it! It was so neat and straight and she managed to give it a slight curve! It was here that the lady asked if I would like to have my brows trimmed and lotioned to which I replied a yes. Although the atmosphere was slightly uncomfortable, the overall service was good and I think this is the kind of place where they'll be more friendly the more frequent you visit them. I stopped into RB Threading Studio for a quick clean-up. So many things wrong... The place is difficult to find - buried in a lower level mall (?!). When I stepped into the chair, I mentioned to the woman that I only wanted a clean-up. She gave me a hard arched cut. I almost didnt recognize myself. When she was done she walked over towards her book & register and she said "$16". What!!??? I paid the Lady and walked out of there. It's been almost a full year since I've been able to go to a salon to get my eyebrows done due to the pandemic. I have never been to Rb's Threading Studio before today, but I would absolutely recommend! She was very professional, only allowing 1 client in at a time. She wore a mask and sanitized between clients so I felt very comfortable. I didn't make an appointment ahead of time, but I only had to wait a few minutes. The location was a little hard to find, but when you arrive just go downstairs and you'll see her door. Overall very satisfied with my eyebrow threading experience. I will definitely return if salons are able to stay open. read more

They were totally uneven and I asked my guy friends as well to get a real honest opinion and they said one of the looked way shorter than the other. I'm really grateful for the salon opening up for outdoor service during the time of COVID but Bella only threaded about 70% of my eyebrow hairs, I found myself plucking out the rest when I got home. The job wasn't thorough but I enjoyed speaking with Bella. She's honestly so sweet but my session with her was lacking. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Sometimes I wonder if men appreciate the pain women go through to look decent. We technically don't have to groom our eyebrows at all and look like a hot mess. But since society deems it as something we have to do and I don't want to look like a mess, I groom. Instead of the norm of waxing, I decided to get my eyebrows threaded and at a highly reviewed place. After all, eyebrows can really make you or break you. RB's studio is a quaint little place. 2 chairs and a little bench served as the waiting area. I got there 10 minutes earlier than my appt time and I didn't have to wait at all. The lady that threaded my eyebrows was really nice and I was just exaggerating...it didn't really hurt that much. A few minutes later after some pulling, threading, and trimming, my eyebrows were done. I liked the threading process and the end results. Quick, semi-painless and a slight tingling sensation on my face afterwards. That felt good...am I weird? $15 plus tip equates to a wax, maybe even slightly cheaper. I look perplexed...and maybe a little bit disheveled. All I know is that when she handed me the mirror, first thing I thought to myself was "I know I did not have that bald spot in my right eyebrow 10 minutes ago." This just proves that you should not short change yourself because a place is convenient. If I had known I was going to pay $17 bucks ($15 + $2 tip...I took off a dollar for the bald spot) for sloppy job I would have driven myself to Jun's all the way in SF. I even had to fix it at home because they were uneven. I guess I'll be drawing in my eyebrows for the next month. FYI: This wasn't my first time here. The first time I had it done it was a perfect job. I didn't have the same lady this time but I figured, they probably have done like hundreds of eyebrows, both should know what they're doing. Also I've been an eyebrow pro since I was 14. I used to get them waxed religiously until I switched to threading because it's supposedly more hygienic. I'm being generous. One star for my first experience and one additional star because I rescheduled twice today and they were accommodating. I'm definitely not coming back. read more

I recently wanted (needed) to get my eyebrows done and came across this place on Yelp. I've had bad eyebrow waxing experiences in the past (burned skin, botched brows), and had heard good things about threading so I wanted to give it a try. I stopped in without making an appointment when I was in the area running errands and sat right down. My brows looked groomed and fabulous within five minutes. I've grown to love the quick, no frills, quality service that Ruchi provides every time I come here. I always walk in without an appointment and I'm in and out of there in about 10 minutes. I don't have to worry about keeping appointments or being late. The day before my wedding, I came here and Ruchi took such great care of me, triple checking my eyebrows and making sure it was absolutely perfect for my big day. I stopped by today after coming home for spring break and forgetting my tweezers. Yikes! My brows were a hot mess after neglecting them while studying for finals. I've never had anything done to my eyebrows, barring my infrequent, lazy tweezing. But I had Bela today, and she did a great job! I pretty much walked in because I had some free time before the appointment I made. Threading wasn't painful at all, but that might be because my nerves are shot from plucking for years. On the lip, however, stung a little to the point where my eyes watered because I normally don't do anything. But overall I had a good experience! OH. MY. GOD. I'M BEAUTIFUL! Is what I thought to myself, after I checked out my eyebrows in my rearview mirror. Just kidding. But honestly, every single time (every single time!) I've come here, I leave feeling like a million bucks. Why? Because Ruchi is the best eyebrow threader in all of California. I already decided that if I become the next Miley Cyrus, I am so totally taking her on tour with me. And if I'm the next Oprah, Rb's eyebrow threading for everyone! I started coming to this place when it was still Skin Envy and before Ruchi had her first child (yea, we been through some thangs). I was so impressed with the way she shaped my arches. I have never gotten compliments on a threading job but her threading made a noticeable difference. Ruchi is always clean, thorough and painless. She'll snip and thread and shape to facial perfection - you won't believe your brows could look that lovely. I've probably painted myself as a female ogre with monstrously disfigured eyebrows but I just need someone who understands my face shape and natural brow arch - and Ruchi gets mine. I say this having consistently gone to 2 places in the Little India area of Cerritos and to the beauty chain, Ziba. I always have this cloud of sadness hanging over my head when I leave Rb's because living in SoCal, I know it'll be a few months before I can have my brows done here. I'd rather save my money and wait til I can get an appointment at Rb's than waste my money at those other places. Hands down, no one has made them look as good as Ruchi has. Best threaders in the bay area! Even after I have moved away from the San Mateo County, I still commute to R&B's from the East Bay. This should say a lot about Rutchie and Bella. I have been going to Rutchie and Bella for about 5 years now and I have nothing but great comments to say about them. They are usually busy, so you might have to wait a bit, but I promise that the wait is well worth it. First of all, I would like to mention that I love the natural/thick eyebrow look. If this is the same look you opt for, then you have found the right spot. If you tell them exactly how you want your eyebrows, they will give you what you ask for, and even give you advice before they touch your eyebrows. They will work with you and even take a little at a time, so that there are no misunderstandings about how you want your eyebrows. Plus - it's a great way to not end up getting stuck w/either thin eyebrows, or the wrong shape, just like other "asian" waxing shops. R&B's Threading Studio is a clean facility, where you can receive great customer service and will be satisfied with your eyebrows. I was very pleased with the results after *Bela* threaded my eyebrows and upper lip. (I would recommend waxing your upper lip because threading can easily lead to missing some hairs) She definitely took into consideration the shape of my face and threaded my eyebrows accordingly. Overall, it wasn't that painful... I mean come on if you are thinking of getting a wax, you should be expecting some level of pain. I eventually got used to it after my second visit to Rb's Threading Studio. **EDIT** 5 stars. Bela is really good at threading. If you are thinking of getting your eyebrows fixed, you should definitely come here without hesitation. It took less than 15 minutes for the whole process to be over and done with and my eyebrows look GOOD. She threaded and trimmed accordingly and I have gotten recent compliments on my eyebrows... This is a good place to get threaded if you are in the area. She was quick and efficient. Yet, there was more pain then I am use too, perhaps it was the threading she was using, or that she was going pretty fast. But wasn't too thrilled with that. The eyebrow shaping was ok. I had bette...., too much scissor clipping versus threading, which I was surprised at for a threading place. Bottom line, if you are in need of some threading and are in the area, this does the job, just not to level I am use to for the same price. Ok so I came here for a Brazillian wax and an eyebrow threading. Let me start with the eyebrow thread. I'll give them four stars for their eyebrow threading. This was my first time so I had no idea what to expect. My skin is pretty sensitive but after reading reviews about having less redness and no breaking out, I decided to try this place out. But after I got my eyebrows threaded, the eyebrows area was extremely red, and I broke out for several days. Maybe that's just my skin, but I was soo disappointed! She did do a good job on shaping my eyebrows though. Now for the Brazilian wax. It was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced ($65) and totally not worth it for the quality and atmosphere! I'm used to Brazilian waxes being around 50, and you get a soothing candle-lit room with tranquil music. But this was in an overheated room where I could overhear conversations outside. Anyways, my past Brazilian waxes were done quick and painless. But this was one extremely painful and took a very long time! She also ripped off the cloth strip over and over again in the same spot, irritating my poor skin =( In the end, I was left with a powdery and hairy mess (since she did some snipping in the beginning). The end result was good, but the journey was just horrible. I should have known, it is a threading studio afterall. Stick to the threading. read more
